Came to this place after having a gift certificate. We arrived around 7:30pm on a Friday evening. I believe they were set to close at 8pm but they never rushed us. In fact they added another dinner party at 7:50 and allowed another couple to sit at bar for a few shots. For appetizers we ordered queso fundido with tortillas (4). We asked for a mix of corn and flour. The appetizer was delicious. For dinner, my husband ordered the California Beef Burrito. I ordered the Queso Birria tacos. The food was flavourful and served in decent time. We enjoyed our food and drinks. For drinks, I had the frozen mango Margarita. My husband had the mezcal drink. Came to TTS Saturday night about 10 minutes before they were closing. We had a group of about 30 people going to a bar next door for my friend's 40th and one of the guys forgot his id and they refused to let him in (he's 48). Him and I walked into Tacos & Tequilas while we brainstormed our next move. We got a drink (and a complimentary shot) and started talking with Jason who turned out to be the owner. Birthday girl then walked over practically in tears. We asked Jason about the possibility of bringing our party to his restaurant if he'd be willing to stay opened. He talked to one of his employees to make sure she could stay to help him. Our entire group came over, took over aux and literally had the best time. Jason saved my friend's birthday!! The kitchen was closed so I wasn't able to have the food but I'll 100% be back to support Jason and his thriving restaurant. I appreciated this "new" to me local place on Chicago Ave. It's good to have a nice, friendly, family kind of option nearby. I'd say the service was the best part of our experience. Really nice waitress that was so accommodating and flexible with us. We had to customize some stuff as vegetarians and so that was important for us. So first, we for the nachos. It's a big bowl of nachos for sure. I don't really like the kind of chips they use. They're like double layer and kind of oily. I think for next time I'd ask for more cheese and more beans. Since we didn't want any meat on the nachos, the kitchen just added a few grilled veggies onto the dish for us. We didn't really want that, but it was too late. They added roasted red peppers, mushrooms, green peppers, and all. The rest was good, but I know how to order better for next time. So veggie means grilled veggies at tts. You can do a burrito that way or tacos as well. We didn't get either of those on this visit, but I had asked about it. The other thing we got was enchiladas. They had chicken enchiladas on the menu, but they accommodated doing them as cheese. I used red and green sauces both. I think they added a 4th enchilada for us, because we paid the same price and didn't get the chicken. Nice gesture. We had 2 red and 2 green. I'm a red sauce enchilada guy, but tts has better green sauce ones. Again, ordering for next time. I ordered a diet coke and that comes in a can, so good to know for reference. Lastly, you do get complementary chips and salsa, which both red and green sauces were great. Will be back and looking to customize next time. read more

Updated review there's new ownership and it's very apparent the food isn't what it used to be they are supplementing ingredients and it's not that great anymore sadly the green salsa which MADE tts isn't the same it's too spicy. The chilaquiles don't taste the same... the fries used to be fire here now they are bland... This place never disappoints. While you can get brunch here and many typical Mexican food items, the tacos are amazing. 3 tacos come in an order. I always get the tacos Mexicanos and pick several different options like steak, Al pastor and chorizo. The pork pozole soup is also amazing as well. The service is friendly and fast. Ok for some reason the Uber eats delivery took a super long time for only being like 1.5 miles away so I was annoyed but now I don't really care. Wow! Well worth the wait! And I'm fortunate to say they definitely exceeded it, from their spicy salsas, nearly flawless mole, and tacos that look as good as they taste. The standout here is the jicama taco, we had it outdoors on a 90 degree day and it's the definition of refreshing - a low carb shrimp ceviche trio on a thin-sliced jicama tortilla. Chicken and skirt steak don't disappoint either, with the latter satisfyingly cooked to taste almost like burnt ends. Service was attentive and friendly, matching the casual vibe of the restaurant. We hosted our holiday party at TTS Tacos & Tequilas and it was SO FUN! The menu is really different than what I've seen anywhere else and absolutely delicious! Don't even get me started on the drinks. Our bartenders Anny and Juri were extremely attentive and fun. Stopped by today for a celebratory dinner and must say I was impressed. Amazing service, quick for a party of 5 and effective. Isidro made sure our courses were not rushed so we enjoyed every bit of our appetizers, entrees and desserts. Portions are reasonable, we had 3 appetizers: guacamole, chicken tinga and chips and the queso fundido all very tasty and fresh, could've done with a bit less onions in the tinga, but that's a personal preference. Entrees were superb, all the flavors are there! We enjoyed a couple of the rice bowls (shrimp and steak), camarones a la diabla, Tampiqueña skirt steak (both my daughters loved them) and I had the birria tacos, the meat was so juicy and flavorful I can't wait to try their quesabirrias. We tried 2 desserts the churros, (made to order) and the Nutella bread pudding served with vanilla ice cream (optional) both served warm and were the perfect compliment to what already was a wonderful meal.
