The tooth was described to me as large, cracked, and presented as an emergency requiring immediate extraction. I trusted this recommendation and proceeded with treatment. In hindsight, I felt pressured to move forward urgently and later questioned whether immediate extraction was necessary. Following the extraction, I experienced significant and persistent pain that felt more severe than expected. I was instructed to take ibuprofen for pain control. After taking it as directed, I developed severe burning stomach pain and gastrointestinal distress, including symptoms consistent with gastritis and diarrhea. The pain interfered with my ability to eat, sleep, and recover. When I contacted the office and explained the medication was causing serious stomach distress, I was told to continue taking ibuprofen and was told that these types of reactions do not occur. This response was concerning because gastrointestinal irritation, including stomach pain and diarrhea, are recognized potential side effects of ibuprofen. I felt dismissed and unsafe because my physical symptoms were not acknowledged, and I was not provided alternative pain management guidance. Because my pain continued and felt abnormal, I returned to the office for follow-up care. I was physically exhausted, emotionally distressed, and frightened something was wrong with my healing. During the visit, I was informed that food was present in the extraction socket. The provider rinsed the socket and mentioned antibiotics might be prescribed. I attempted to explain the severity of my pain and asked questions about possible complications. When I referenced information I had researched to understand my symptoms, I was told my information was incorrect. I explained that I did not have a primary dentist for follow-up care and was seeking help because I did not know where else to go. I was told that this was not the office's problem, which made me feel abandoned while experiencing post-surgical pain. The interaction escalated when multiple staff members became involved simultaneously. Their tone and presence felt overwhelming and intimidating while I was already in pain and emotionally distressed. I felt outnumbered, unheard, and increasingly anxious. I was then asked to leave the office. Being asked to leave while still in severe pain and without guidance was frightening and upsetting. I left feeling physically unwell, emotionally shaken, and unsure how to safely care for a surgical wound without professional support. I left the appointment without receiving: * Clear post-operative instructions * A confirmed treatment plan * Prescribed medication that had been mentioned * Guidance for managing ongoing pain * Follow-up care or referral instructions * Alternative pain management after reporting medication side effects I am concerned that dismissing a patient reporting post-surgical complications, medication intolerance, and unresolved pain without providing discharge instructions or continuity of care places patients at risk. I respectfully request a review of whether appropriate standards of care, patient communication, medication counseling, and follow-up obligations were met.

He also never pushes you to do anything extra, and is always upfront about costs and what insurance will cover. I always enjoy chatting with him, and I really appreciate that he uses numbing gel on my gums before cleaning (when I tell him I have sensitive gums). The office is generally clean, and it's nice that you can watch Netflix on the TV overhead. However, I feel that his front desk staff/hygienists have really gone downhill. Over the past couple of years, they have been pretty unfriendly whenever I come in. They also get annoyed/frustrated at me when I have trouble doing X-rays; they just kept shoving the apparatus forcefully into my mouth over and over again even when I keep gagging (and they actually cut the corner of my mouth). Finally when Dr. Q came over he showed them how to do it properly without causing a gag reflex. The last straw was when I had bad pain in my upper gums and I tried to make a followup appointment with his front desk staff; the lady I spoke to actually said I just needed to "brush better" and was very reluctant to make an appt for me initially. Another one of his staff said I probably "chew too much on that side of my mouth". I felt pretty insulted being dismissed by his staff like that, when the actual problem was I had an impacted wisdom tooth that needed to be removed asap (as Dr. Q informed me). I might consider switching dentists soon if I keep getting treated like this by his staff, even though Dr. Q is a great dentist.

Let me start out by saying that Dr. Neglerio has been my dentist since I was a child at 12 years…read moreold. I'm almost 27 now. That's almost 15 years of being her loyal patient, along with all of my family members. I have had very healthy teeth almost my entire life, along with having had top notch braces from one of the most prestigious orthodontists in La Jolla. I loved my teeth and took very good care of them. With turning 26 meant that I was about to come off of my mom's insurance. Dr. Neglerio was incessant about a tiny cavity that seemed to have formed at the same time that my insurance was about to end. I trusted her, and had her fill it. However, a year went by and that filling still felt sensitive. I came back in for some X-rays and a cleaning and mentioned that the tooth did not feel right. She told me that she would adjust the height of the filing - which I was reluctant to do considering that my bite/occlusion felt totally fine, so I didn't want that messed with. She knew I was anxious about that, and I specifically told her that I did not want any enamel touched by her "metal polishing bur." She said, "oh of course not babe! I wouldn't ruin years of braces on your beautiful teeth!" I said, "okay, I trust you." Boy, did I make the biggest mistake of my life that day by letting this woman take a grinding tool to my face. I felt her drag the bur along 4 of my surrounding teeth. She insisted everything was okay. My bite immediately felt strange but she seemed hurried to get me out of the chair. Upon coming home and seeing my teeth in the mirror, I was shocked. That entire side of mouth was shorter than the other side. The tip of my pointy canine tooth was made flat, my two premolars were tiny and reshaped and jagged and knotched. My molar felt rough and flat. Apart from cosmetic issues, only two teeth touch when I close my mouth on that side now, as confirmed by multiple opinions from other dentists. She gave me an open bite, along with uglier teeth, and a slight lisp. I am currently in treatment with a specialist to realign my jaw into a healthy position since Dr. Neglerio's unnecessary and life-altering, irreversible treatment gave me jaw pain and an inability to chew. So much of my enamel has been grinded down that my teeth are sensitive to my every breath, and cold and sugary foods feel like acid. As a woman in my 20's with otherwise healthy and beautiful teeth, she ruined my self-confidence, health, and quality of life. I came in with one sensitive tooth - and now I have 4 painful smaller teeth and a misaligned bite. I normally want to see the best in people and I always trusted her but after this, my entire family will never be customers of hers again. She either has an issue with me and performed unethical work (since she lied to my face and made some joke about me being caucasian), or she has a brain the size of a pea and is half blind. It hurts me to write this about her considering I've trusted her for so many years...but this has caused me more stress than anything else. I am currently seeing a specialist for treatment and having to wear an orthotic splint before getting reconstructive materials built back onto my teeth. All because of one teeny tiny cavity. For the love of god, don't let this woman take anything metal or motorized to your precious face. If you want your teeth destroyed for the rest of your life, tell her that one of your teeth feel sensitive. She'll be sure to grind those babies down for you. All in all, Dr. Neglerio lied to my face about the procedure she was performing on my teeth. Enamel never regrows. I am grieving the loss of half of my healthy smile. I now have 4 teeth that are reminiscent of an elderly-aged bruxer. I attached a photo of my teeth from 5 years ago versus a photo taken a few days after her horribly sloppy work on my healthy natural teeth. This situation my seem small to the naked eye, but when a small piece of a popcorn kernel for example gets stuck in between your teeth - it feels like hell. And I have been in hell since leaving her office a month ago. I know sometimes it's easy to brush over one negative Yelp review, but trust me. My quality of life went from 100 to 0 in a matter of one dental visit from this woman. She even told me over the phone when I complained that "most patients over 50 ask her to get those certain parts of their teeth filed down." This is absurd considering I am in my 20's, don't grind my teeth, and nobody else wants their teeth to look like this. If you're reading this Dr. Neglerio, I want you to know how much I am suffering because of you. This is the worst discomfort, pain, stress, and depression I have ever gone through. And Dr. Neglerio herself is a very friendly, compassionate dentist and didn't even flinch at the advanced decay and stench coming from my mouth. Just kidding.. she almost fainted once, but she played it off as an old badminton injury and grabbed a seat for the rest of my first visit. All kidding aside, Dr. Neglerio is a very skilled dentist and can help you overcome your fear, anxiety and passive aggressive behavior towards keeping your teeth and gums in healthy condition!
