It's been a long time since I've been to Continental Drift and I forgot how fun this place is. Came here for drinks for a friend's birthday and it gave nothing but good vibes. From the themed drink menu, retro 80s vibe, food truck it gives you everything you need in a bar. The bartender Eric can make anything you think of. He is a true mixologist. I love the creative cocktails, fun atmosphere with good music. Definitely have to visit this place more frequently. read more

My first time here was recently on a Thursday night. Parked on the street and easily walked across the street to the bar. It wasn't very crowded but my group quickly livened the place up! We all had a nice time in this space. I absolutely love all the plants throughout. I'm easily impressed since I don't have a green thumb... at all! The plants were a lovely touch. Although I'm not a serious cocktail drinker, I was able to enjoy one of my fav beers by Uproot Brewing ( recently closed). The bartender was knowledgeable and fun. There's such a nostalgic vibe here. Who doesn't love neon lights?! Next time I visit, I'm gonna make my way out to their food truck!!! Overall, this is a nice little spot to grab a night cap with friends or solo. This is NOT a review for the bar. It's just a mini review of the Drift Food Truck that's outside. I've eaten there many times and have never been disappointed, though not always "Wowed"--and that was only once. The menu varies so don't expect this menu when you go. The smash burger is dependable and good. The duck fries are pretty awesome, but they seem to be super enthused about their house seasoning, almost to the point of obliteration! It's good; They just need to be a little more judicious with it. Pictured are the noteworthy Brussel sprouts: "$10 BRUSSELS' SPROUTS Red wine balsamic glaze, Agrodolce pearl onions, scallions, fried garlic " You can also have them topped with grilled chicken for a few bucks more. Can Brussels be overcooked? Apparently not. These aren't as charred as the photo suggests. The red wine / balsamic reduction adds a lot of color to them. They may look charred but there's no burned taste in the flavor. I know, those poor little Brussels look overwhelmed, but they're not. They were good in my mouth and belly. Be careful not to spill any in the car on the way home, or the next day your car will not be very welcoming to guests. read more

This place came very highly recommended to us, so when we moved to Birmingham, we couldn't wait to try it. I love that they switch up the themes and keep the menu rotating! We went very early one Saturday and were the only people in there -- but I won't hold this against them at all, as we are always early birds. The staff were all hanging out in a booth near the door. One bartender eagerly jumped up to help us, but the rest seemed pretty inconvenienced by our presence. Our bartender was great -- very personable and knowledgeable. That's about the only redeeming factor. The menus were tattered and sticky, bar itself was kinda gross, lipstick marks on our glasses, and our drinks were subpar at best. I believe the theme when we went was something about Italy, so there was a lot of potential for creative drinks, but they all seemed pretty uninspired -- think limoncello, Negronis, etc.. Also, some weird blue frozen one, but I can appreciate catering to every crowd! We probably won't be back. read more

Been here a few times to troll the Arsenal Fan Club. Not sure what goes on here at night, but the place has a pretty cool vibe. It's a few blocks from the Lakeview bars and probably farther than you'd want to walk after hours. Nice long bar making service easy. Haven't tried the food. The menu looks ok though. I've been here once before a long time ago and recently had this as a last stop after checking out a few other places with our group. First let me say the owners and bartender were sooooo sweet and took great care of all of their guests. The menu appeared to offer some cool drink options. We opted for tequila shots for the most part. Love the neon lights and theme overall. Very fun and nostalgic. Food truck was outside that I did not get to try this time around. My bestie and I stopped by Continental Drift during the holidays and had a blast. The inside decor is cool and swanky, with colored lighting and plenty of couches to lounge on. The cocktail menu is so fun! Lots of different flavor combinations to explore. Our server was also very patient and gave great suggestions for drinks. I can't remember the names of what we chose but they were delish. We also went out to the Drift Kitchen food truck and OH MY GOODNESS... it is so good! We got wings, deviled eggs, and brussle sprouts. Everything was shareable, which is great for social outings. Fabulously delicious cocktails in kind of a 90's vibe. There are garage doors to open the bar up to the parking lot, but it's summer so: thanks, but no. My drinks were SO delicious! I've been very curious about visiting continental drift since going to the recent thunder cats concert. I didn't get the chance to go inside to try their drinks but I did try their desert wings and Jamaican jerk chicken wrap. I enjoyed both items. The wrap was very delicious with the combination of the Jamaican seasoning and pineapple salsa. Also the chicken was tender. The desert wings had a unique Cajun taste but it wasn't bad at all. The wings were juicy and not overly greasy. You can definitely tell that the seasonings used soaked into the meat. But that was just my mini experience. Sunday, I experienced continental drift in full effect. Exploring not only their regular menu but their newly created brunch menu. Mind you this place has been open a couple months now and I think it deserves more attention. The theme is Miami vice and they nailed it. Between the decor and music, everything was on point. I was blessed enough to try the food with my closest friends. For drinks, we ordered the Miami vice, the Caribbean pancake, and Salem spritz trial. For brunch food we ordered: churro bites, breakfast sandwich, and the greens and grits. For regular menu items, we ordered: charred okra and corn salad but substituted the okra for brussel sprouts (even as a person who doesn't like Brussel sprouts, these were amazing), the fried chicken sandwich, juicy burger, the classic buffalo and lemon pepper curry dk wings. With all that said, I can say everything we ordered was a hit. My personal favorite for brunch: everything. If you're in the mood for something safe I suggest the breakfast sandwich. But if you want something unique, I suggest the greens and grits. My personal favorite for the regular menu: everything. But especially the wings (both flavors) and the juicy burger which comes with an amazing smash sauce. Finally my favorite drink was the Miami vice. I could talk forever about my first full experience here with the caring staff. Overall, continental drift is a must visit establishment. This bar was so pretty! My friend Kate and I came here this weekend. We were looking for a pretty place to take pictures and also get some pretty drinks. The staff here were all so polite and friendly! I ordered the Vice Versa. It was a frozen slushy blended and by far one of the tastiest and prettiest drink I've ever gotten! We also shared a Yellowhammer Fizz that was also pretty good. I hope this place is here to stay! They have lots of food options too so I will be sure to check those when I come back. read more

My partner and I found this place during a late night outing on a Friday night. We just decided to stop in and have a drink. The bartender (I think his name is Eric?) that night made us feel at home! Our experiences at bars in Birmingham thus far were lack luster and disappointing...until we came here! The patrons in the establishment were friendly and easy to make conversation with. The food was great! Looking at the ambiance and decor of the place, I was a little nervous to see the bill, but to my surprise - it's very well priced for the quality of drinks and food! first time visiting and it was honestly a vibe. there was only 1 bartender/server when i visited but he was really nice and attentive, and he also did an excellent job at explaining the concept of this establishment. i had the chance of visiting during the "arabian nights" and tried out 2 different cocktails. my personal favorite was the rebel without a pause. it was the right amount of spicy and reminded me of an amaretto sour. the decor, music and ambiance were really good as well! taking a star away because the kitchen was closed when i visited. read more

It's the decor for me!! They have the cutest color combo. The set up is kinda lounge meets bar meets neighborhood spot. Lol! The staff is very friendly. The bathroom is pretty awesome. The prices are fair and the drinks are good. I didn't care for the wine selection but I didn't expect a big selection of wine. Their food truck outside opens at five. Came into town and decided to check out the Continental Draft. Eric was absolutely AMAZING!!! They offer a variety of cocktails but also offer a seasonal menu featuring different regions. We came in on "Into to the Caribbean" and were not disappointed. The music and aesthetic were on point. If you're undecided Eric will definitely point you in the right direction with your drink choices. Wether you're into adventurous cocktails or classics, this place is definitely for you! SAVE YOUR TIME & MONEY. Went last night to get food and the food truck staff was rude and annoyed that we actually had questions about the menu. Very short and condescending when we got our food as well. We went inside and sat at the bar which was very pleasing to the eye. Unfortunately the bar tender didn't wash his hands once yet handled ice, garnish and various other items in peoples drinks with his bare hands. To say the least we were disgusted and left without even drinking our drinks. $33 for two drinks & $32 for greasy burgers that were mediocre and fries that were over cooked.
