To start, I cannot say enough about how well this business is to deal with. All of the people you will deal with Peter the owner, Melissa the office person and Mark one of the technicians are noting but super dealing with their respective roles. I have doing buiness with them for two and a half years, and several vehicles being serviced. They have performed the necessary work with top quality parts and services, and have also saved me a significant amount of money over what other auto repair business have quoted for the same repair issues. They have even on several occassions come to my home and picked up a vehicle rather than have me drive one with a potentially serious issue. They have also picked me up at home and driven me back. I called them this morning and asked about a tire fix for a slow leak and emissions testing; while they don't do emissions testing, if ever I have a problem I am confident they would be able to fix it! The staff were professional, efficient and knowledgeable. They told me to come in asap bc they had a window of opportunity to look at and repair my tire, and they kept their word;even showed me the culprit of my slow tire leak. I was so relieved and grateful; they are a great value and I will be back for any and all future repairs I may need. They check all my boxes! PS. Friend was visiting me and told me she thought she had a leak in her transmission fluid hose. She went to Tucson Mountain Motors, which is close to our home, to have it replaced. It turned out that a new rack and pinion was needed. Additionally, her new starter failed. Pete (owner) contacted the company that had sold her the starter and got a replacement for free. He said the rack and pinion was labor intensive and he wasn't sure he could get hers replaced before the weekend. This was on a Thursday late afternoon. Pete had it replaced by Friday afternoon so friend was able to not miss any work on Friday and the weekend. The price was reasonable and the service was beyond what we had hoped for. read more

Twice I've been here and both times were great. I got immediate service, everything is very well explained. Nothing done or charged without your consent. Pricing is on par or slightly lower than average so they are more than fair in that regard. Very, very disappointed. We were taken advantage of financially. Curious, does it cost $45 to wash under the car for 30 mins? We were unknowingly charged for that. Within 3 months of each other: Experience #1 He sold us a battery that we didn't need nor request. This was on top of $3,200 of repairs. He changed the oil, and charged us for it, after we said we didn't want the oil changed. Experience #2 We requested a drivers-side-door repair due to an accident. We said "we need the door fixed." He looked at the damage with us present. He did not walk around the car, nor mention in his verbal estimate that additional repairs were needed. His verbal estimate was, "I have a friend who can do it for $1,400." We agreed. When we picked it up, it was $1,600+ and we had new headlights and a new front bumper. Not once in either of these situations did he call to mention a) we needed additional repairs (e.g. a new battery, new headlights, etc.), or b) any increased costs that we would be incurring due to his additional repairs. He did the work without our consent or approval and simply charged us upon pick up of the completed job - we also never received an itemized receipt. Fool me once, shitty you; fool me twice, dumb me. Will not return here. Thinking about civil complaint. He'll respond and say "if we were taking advantage of people we wouldn't be in business." They have enough first time, one-time customers to stay in business. One will notice they do not have repeat female customers (only men, who are not taken advantage of). read more

I have been to Mountain Motors several times and often found the employee's attitudes to be somewhere between indifferent and borderline rude. Recently the low tire light came on in my car. Since I was scheduled for an oil change there, I asked them to also check my tires. They reported that there were no leaks. Had some car troubles this week- thought it might've been my battery, got that fixed and car still wasn't running. Called Tucson Mountain Motors and they were very upfront, gave me an exact quote and were easy to work with. I took my car in a couple of days later, felt absolutely no pressure- explained what was going on. Within an hour, they called me and confirmed it was my alternator. I sat and listened to them for several hours when I was waiting for my car to be fixed, and they dealt with everyone on the phone professionally and knowledgeably, never trying to push the customer into doing work that didn't need to be done. If you want honesty dependability and great pricing you need to bring your car here. The feel is as if you went back in time to an old service station from the 50s and 60s. Workers are honest and dependable. Work is done quickly and efficiently and they try to get your vehicle back to you as soon as possible. They also let you know if there are any other issues with your vehicle and give you some estimates so you can get the work done later if you wish not to do it at that time. Easy to work with easy to drop off or make an appointment with them. I could not talk highly enough of their honesty and pricing. A local dealership advise me of an issue that my vehicle had. They wanted to charge me over $300 to fix the issue. I went to Tucson Mountain Motors and they were able to do the same procedure for $100. This is not the first time they were able to do that. They also found and issue that i was having and under warranty, they took care of the issue at not extra cost!!! I cannot talk Highly enough how honest and efficient they were. I've now taken my vehicle a few times to Tucson Mountain Motors to get it fixed. Every time, Rick has been there to help me. I highly recommend them because they're friendly and fast! What brought me to them initially was hearing about them from three separate people and how honest they were. Now, as a female, I get the run around usually when it comes to cars and mechanics tend to think I have no idea what's going on with my car. While I certainly couldn't fix it like they do, I DO know some basics. So every mechanic I approach with some trepidation. Not here! Every time I've come in, Rick is very forthright with information and will tell me exactly what is wrong with my car, what needs to be fixed and what isn't a priority but needs to be kept in mind. They're understanding with people's financial situations and will work with you to make sure the prioritized work gets done, but that you're staying within budget too. I was going to Tucson Mountain Motors for oil changes. When I took my car there in nov.,2012 ,they recommended I get the rear brake pads replaced because they where getting worn down,I said o.k.,you can fix them. After they where done with my car I noticed alot of noise coming from the rear of the car,that was really loud and rattling sound. I told them about it and the owner of Tucson Mountain Motors drove my car to see what the problem was- They said it was my bushings in the rear of the car they are dried out- The rattling kept getting worse so in march of 2013 when I got my oil changed I had a Mechanic from Tucson Mountain Motors ride with me to show him the problem he said yes I hear a rattling noise,so when I paid for the oil change they told me my bushings where bad and it has some rust on the underbody and that they don't like to work on cars rusty like taht on the underbody (the car is a 2004 mazda 3 s with a mint condition body and a little surface rust on the underside from being driven in salt in wisconsin) Far from being too rusty to work on. The rattling noise kept up so I took my car in for a" Second Opinion" at a shop a friend at work recommended me to. The OWNER at the NEW SHOP,went for a ride with me in my car and noticed the rattling real bad . He looked at the Brake Job TUCSON MOUNTAIN MOTORS Did and said they had the brakes INSTALLED BACKWARDS,With NO Anti Rattle Clips and they did not grease anything up. He said he was Surprised nothing happened, and Tucson Mountain Motors did a Very bad brake job. After the New Shop Installed the brake pads Properly the car has no more Rattles, it was the Brakes the whole time which Tucson Mountain Motors Failed to detect. and had installed wrong. I don't Recommend Tucson Mountain Motors, because I told them about the rattling noise 2 times and they brushed the problem off on bushing. They can't diagnos a problem. Finally I was able to get it over to the Dodge dealership and they had it fixed in 4 hours. Scammers!! Took our camper there just to have a couple motor mount bolts replaced. Was told it would only take a couple of hours so no big deal. Drove by the shop throughout the day and they hadn't looked at it all day as it was sitting outside. Several hours later we got a call that they wouldn't be done that day. So we had to rent a car and a hotel since we had no where to stay. Fine. The next morning they call and say they can't get the old bolts out due to rust and they want to send half our motor in to a machine shop and it's going to cost us $3,000!!!! What!!! So my husband tells them there is no way he's paying that amount for a couple of bolts to be replaced. He reiterated that they just needed to lube and heat the bolts to get them out. We are from the Midwest where everything rusts. So the owner finally understands (so he says) and agrees to do just that. We pick our camper up a couple hours later and get back to where we were staying. My husband opens the motor up to take a look and low and behold, NO BOLTS!! They charged us $175 and did absolutely NOTHING. We did get our money back after my husband called them but we were out the rental car and hotel bill. What a complete joke. Owner claims there was a miscommunication with one of his mechanics. What kind of owner doesn't know what is going on in his own shop?? This was in July of this year. We drove out there because my mother in law and father in law had both passed away within a couple months of each other and we went to spread their ashes and move stuff out of the house. And this is what we had to deal with. What a shame. read more

At one time I left every thing up to Pete and his crew for the well being of my vehicles. I started to notice a lack of care and lots of changing in mechancis. On this last visit back in June I wanted a full safety check up as I was going on a trip to the White Mountains. I had to go up through the Salt River Canyon which has lots of down shifting around the sharp curves and down hills. When I got to Lakeside I noticed the truck was not shifting properly. When the transmission fluid was checked it was all but empty. I called this in and the little girl working the desk now was flippy with her answers and you could tell she could care less. I don't know if she ever even passed this on to Pete and if she did he could care less either. Then I went to use the windshield washer and it was empty too. Ok not that big of a deal but the transmission surely was. I have not had to add one drop of fluid since the fill of quart of fluid and I have since returned via Salt River Canyon I wonder if they really checked anything as I never saw them near the brakes either. It sure was a fast service for all I needed to make this trip. read more
