I took them twice. The first time I was relatively happy. Second time was horrible, and I never got on the bus. I purchased a ticket online, once there, I was told the bus was hung up in Nogales. I checked border waiting times in Nogales online, and at 3 am, there was zero waiting time. I hung out about six hours and the bus was supposedly still at the border. I ended up paying a lot in cab fare to go to the airport and pay walk up for a plane ticket. The ticket was supposedly refundable, but I got nonstop runaround. The people at the station said to do it online. I filed the request online, only to be told they had to do it by phone. The phone call didn't happen. I did a request for a credit from the bank. Tufesa fought it for months, with no clear reason why I couldn't be refunded my refundable ticket. I won in the end. Moral: you never know what you'll get. A slice of the third world in business man at, but the buses are way better than Greyhound. An hour before heading to the station see where your bus is. It can be delayed by hours or days... So also be flexible. read more

Very bad experience with this company. My wife took a bus with this company last Thursday and arrived in Mexico final destination friday morning, come to find her luggage was missing. She spoke to the station in Mexico and all they did was take her number if they locate the luggage. I called the location in phx to file a report, they told me because it was across the boarder I would have to take it up with the station in Mexico regardless of them being the same company. My wife revisited the station twice in Mexico to follow up and nothing was done no paperwork was done all was said sorry and would call if locate. Items in luggage price over 500.00 in dress clothes make up shoes and jacket. No compensation or refunds have been offered. Worst experience ever! read more

Bus travel between the U.S. and Mexico is inherently unpleasant. You're not going first class on a trans-Atlantic flight while being fed caviar or on a luxury cruise. It's a bus ride on a Mexican bus. With that context in mind, I took my first trip on Tufesa earlier this month to Hermosillo Mexico, using their "Ejecutivo" service and I couldn't have been more pleased. The bus was super comfortable, clean, and left on time. The seats had a power supply for mobile devices, free wifi (which gave free internet once in Mexico) and an entertainment system in Spanish. You get a goody bag when you board the bus with water, snacks and ear buds. There were also his/her bathrooms in the back which were clean. They gave claim checks for all baggage which were verified when leaving the bus. The bus ran on time on my way to Mexico and made an 8 hour trip seem much shorter than it was. The trip back to the U.S. arrived 2 hours late due to a delay at a Mexican security checkpoint south of Nogales, which was not Tufesa's fault. The customer service personnel at all the Tufesa stations were helpful with all my questions. Overall, I would not hesitate to use Tufesa again, especially their Ejecutivo class. A few tips for those not accustomed to bus travel on a Mexican line. 1) Every single bus driver I encountered was courteous and helpful. Sometimes, they only speak Spanish. So, being prepared for this contingency can spare you some headaches. 2) Be aware of all travel documentation requirements before your trip. Get your questions answered before you even set foot on the bus. State department and Mexican consulate websites are very helpful for this type of information. 3) Sometimes, the number of your assigned bus can change. Make sure you get the number of the bus you'll be riding on as soon as you arrive at the station in order to avoid confusion. 4) If traveling to Mexico from the U.S., be prepared to get off the bus with all your possessions at least once (in Mexico) for security/document review. If traveling back to the U.S. be prepared to get off 2-3 times (1-2 times in Mexico, once in the U.S.). Again, have your documents ready, and don't blame the bus driver if you don't. 5) The buses do have free wifi, but the internet only worked while in Mexico. 6) Bus stations aren't always the cleanest places. I would recommend carrying some hand sanitizer with you to stay germ free. 7) The time spent at some of the stops can be quite short (5-10 minutes). The exception was Nogales Mexico where the bus was cleaned for about 30 minutes. Overall, a great first experience with Tufesa and I look forward to using their service again someday. read more

If I can give this Bus line a 0 stars I will, they have no customer service what so ever they have very bad info over the phone, example is I had called to see if they can sell me a bus ticket and the lady with out hesitating said YES!. I go to the bus station to buy it and another clerk tells me that she couldn't sell the ticket to me until midnight, there isn't a corporation office where to put your complains there's never a supervisor available and they're not even decent to apologize for their mistakes sometimes they throw around your luggages like there is nothing in it. I had the worst experience for the very first time in many years that I have traveled in Tufesa. It was so bad that i actually took the time to download Yelp just to make this review. The customer service overall is trash, in person and on the phone. They gave me a different price on the phone than in person and all they could tell me is that it was a system error. They had no explanation on why they gave me that price. The ladies at tufesa had the worst attitude, not helpful at all. I would have fired all of you useless ladies after the way you handled my situation. Like I said, I've never had any problems until now. If I could rate this a ZERO I would. read more

I traveled on Tufesa Mazatlan to Phoenix in 2012. It was my first long bus trip in 20 years. I was amazed at how modern and clean the bus was. Wi-Fi, lounging seats like my lazy Boy at home, and a privacy curtain that gave me a space the size of 4 first class seats on an airline. Bus left on time and arrived in Phoenix a halv an hour late due to border crowds. I am buying another Mazatlan to Phoenix ticket tomorrow so I will report if the service is as still as good. It was a20 hour trip with lots of sites and a good nights sleep. There are 5 buses a day and one Executive Bus ($30 extra) non stop. Bus is $139 and air fair is $355. Bathroom is same as on the plane. Seats were bigger than first class. Going to pack a gourmet bag of boiled eggs, smoked salmon, grey poupon mustard, honey roasted almonds, pears, homemade bread and cinnamon buns, Couldn't get that past security at an airport!, don't even have to take off my shoes. I love Tufesa bus. Enjoy life, it is later than you think. read more

Very comfortable bus with decent seat as well as plugs for your electronic gadgets. My first Mexican bus experience to LA. They took a little break in California in front of a Mexican restaurant for 30 minutes lunch break. Bring your own drinks and snack since none were offered. Arrived about 7:30 PM with plenty of time to spend for dinner with friends and family. read more

I live in southern Mexico and often take the bus all the way to the US border and/or back (~48 hours one way). One of the great things about Tufesa is I can ride all the way from Tucson to Guadalajara without a change of buses (I have yet to take Tufesa north, but assume it works both ways). My only regret is that Tufesa does not serve Oaxaca, where I live. One thing I have learned from living in Mexico is to never assume that anything in this world works perfectly;* if nothing else, it helps reduce stress. And from my many world travels (I am 70 y.o. at this writing in 2017 and have been traveling mostly sol(a) since 1970), I have learned to plan well and in advance, then relax and remain flexible; things rarely go as well as you plan. Build in time for delays; it will keep your blood pressure down. And, no matter the disruption/problem, the sky has yet to fall. *for example, despite informing Yelp* that I live in Mexico, I am identified as living in Plainfield, IL, where I have never been in my life! Reading the reviews, people have had very mixed experiences w/Tufesa. I have to say for myself that Tufesa is actually pretty good (the only things I don't like are the late night action movies forced on everyone in the bus - I always travel with good earplugs and an eyeshade - and the cool temps - I also learned to travel with a small blanket or warm jacket. But these issues are endemic to Mexican long-distance bus travel, not Tufesa, though some first class ADO buses - which do not serve the border - have individual screens and headsets; they still keep the buses too cold). I particularly want to give a 'shout out' to the folks at the Tufesa terminal in Tucson; they are ALWAYS helpful and cheerful. Not always the case on all the other Mexican bus lines or Greyhound, which is probably lowest on my list of bus companies in the world. read more

I dont know how the DOT allows a company with the type of services and transportation conditions to operate in the USA. The website and schedules follow deceptive marketing practices. There is no reference to multiple stops. The arrival and departure times are never met. The bus from San Diego was full of garbage, the explanation was that the bus comes from Tijuana. I took a bus from Las Vegas NV to Fontana CA and so far the Tufesa the best bus riding experience I got. Im a truck driver and I take many Greyhound and Tufesa much much better option. Firstly half a price of grayhound. And than bus and the people very clean. I mean very very clean and respectful company. Our bus driver was a good driver and he knew how to drive the bus. WONDERFUL! WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE! The bus arrived early, departed early & the driver Oscar was friendly & professional. Oscar called early & stated the bus would be early & if I could make it, he would depart earlier. Furthermore, Oscar introduced himself personally & stated if I needed anything to come to him. Such a kind & polite gentleman. Also, the bus was very clean, the seats were comfortable & the ride was smooth. In a like manner, the bus station was clean, the waiting room had new chairs & the entire area was immaculate. The counter service was efficient & organized.I will only use Tufesa in the future. Not all the buses have power plugs and wi-Fi. Lack of bilingual capability is a negative. But they were friendly, and I felt pretty safe. A big issue developed later because we crossed the border and they didn't have me check-in, and so when I flew out in a few days, there was plenty of hub-bub at the airport, and they let me board despite the lack of immigration card. Probably Tufesa said the announcement in Spanish and I missed it, but a little English would have been nice at the border. The flight ended up $90 one way (Volaris) vs $60 by bus. No comparison... definitely fly (Phoenix to Hermosillo). read more

I travel on tufesa quite often because I love it. I mostly go to Phoenix AZ from Los Angeles CA and it takes about seven to eight hours. Unlike the greyhound that takes nine hours. The passengers are very nice, mostly mexicans, but since the tufesa company isn't that popular, the bus has many empty seats that could later be used as your foot rest. The bus is clean and very comfortable. It has reclinable seats, a restroom, a tv in which they are always showing good movies (they played unstoppable, the social network, and the boy in the striped pajamas), and it is air conditioned. You are allowed to bring in snacks, baggage, and electronics. The only downside is that they don't have a power outlet so you won't be able to charge your phone. So take extra batteries! The bus also makes a stop to rest for 15-30 minutes...depending on the schedule and/or driver. They stop near a gasoline station where you could get snacks. I've seen children go on their own across states..it's that safe. The driver is really responsible and is very cautious. Once I went to a subway during the stop and it was far away from the bus and I took a long time there. The bus was about to leave but the driver waited for me to return. He even sent a man to go find me to tell me that everyone was on board waiting for me. I definitely recommend this bus! It's reliable, fast, friendly,quiet, cheap and clean! read more

Have use them a few times to send my kids to CA for vacation. Only problem I've ever had, was having to motorized a couple letters giving my uncle to pick them up. Safety protocol I guess. But its always better be safe then sorry... Other than that, it's A LOT better than greyhound. read more

Today's experience with Tufesa Bus Lines was probably the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE experience that I have ever witnessed EVER! My friends came to the Orem Boost Mobile/Tufesa terminal several days ago and explained to the male agent that they were interested in purchasing tickets to Vegas. They further explained that they would be taking the luggage allotment allowed by the airline for an international trip on their bus trip. The agent informed them that the weight limit was 80 lbs. per person. My friend asked if it would be possible to pay for the excess weight. After receiving the assurance from the male company agent that the paying for the excess weight was possible, the tickets were purchased. Upon arriving at the Boost Mobile/terminal today to check the luggage and board, a female agent informed these friends of the 80 lbs. limit. My friends repeated several times the initial understanding with the male agent and the assurance that paying for the excess weight was possible. In spite of repeating the company policy twice about the excess weight, she requested that the luggage be placed on the scaled proceeded the individual pieces. The female agent stated the amount of the excess weight to my friends. She mentioned that due to the holiday high service demand, that excess weight payment was impossible. The only alternatives offered were to leave the luggage causing the excess weight behind, travel another day or to see if the driver would be willing to access all of the luggage. The driver entered the terminal, saw the luggage and was informed of the issue. He said the he would not be able to transport the extra weight. My friend immediately contacted Tufesa Customer Support by phone to cancel the tickets. The story was recounted in its entirety to the agent. In spite of the misinformation that was provided by the company representative, my friends were still charged cancellation fees for all 3 tickets. RATHER THAT CONSIDERING THE CUSTOMER THE MOST IMPORTANT ELEMENT OF THEIR BUSINESS, IT APPEARS THAT THEY ARE MORE INTERESTED IN PROFITS RATHER THAN MAKING THINGS RIGHT WITH A CUSTOMER. Based on today's fiasco, I'll make sure that my family and friends are aware of the treatment received today TO AVOID DOING BUSINESS WITH TUFESA BUS LINES! read more

If I could minus stars I would.....absolutely unprofessional and worst customer service, aside from the fact they completely didn't pick up my daughter in Laughlin going to Phoenix, at the exact location our confirmation email said to be at that day. When calling to confirm reservation and where to pick up, they confirmed the pick up and time. When the bus was 5 minutes late we called and they said the bus was at the pick up, I said no they're not, then they explained was across the river at the hotel instead of the parking lot that is in our explanation. Told them she will be there in 5 to 7 minutes and the lady said ok the bus driver is there and will wait, she made it there within 7 minutes and no bus!! Call back and she says "oh the bus driver left". Horrible!! I said well it could've only left a couple minutes ago, tell it to come back and they said no he left!! The customer service (if you dare to call it that) was so bad I can't explain!!!! Then I said I want to speak to the supervisor and they put me on hold for 15 minutes while my daughter was stranded at a bus stop by herself in the dark. Then she got back on the phone and said there was nothing they could do!!! My daughter had no money and they wouldnt pay for a hotel for her overnight to get on the bus in the morning. They only said we will give you refund. THAT DOESN'T HELP MY STRANDED DAUGHTER!! I EVEN CALLED 2 TIMES BEFORE TO CONFIRM TIME AND PICK UP!!!! HORRIBLE HORRIBLE RAN COMPANY!!! This bus service caters mostly to a Mexican population. While their buses are more modern than greyhound, the drivers do not communicate with passenger with overhead notification. They only speak Spanish which I feel is wrong, since their are non speaking Spanish people on the bus. One driver was extremely rude to my girlfriend while boarding. I had to speak aggressively to point out his rudeness. Overall, I would avoid this bus service because of its lack of ethnic flexibility and its favoritism to only Spanish speaking people. read more

Crossed the border using a TUFESA bus- I forgot what the exact name of the service class was but it cost a bit more than the cheapest one. They handed out some snacks and drinks, the bus had very comfortable seats, was clean, and left exactly on time. Would take this bus again. read more

Once a year use Tufesa to travel to Guasave from Phoenix and I have had a really good experience all the time . Driver is very polite to everybody, buses are comfortable I try to get the one that has only 2 stops, one in Tucson and last stop in Nogales Son. I think is $100 per person but is worth it. read more

I had no problems at all with Tufesa! They tell you right up front the bus may be late, depending on how long it takes to cross the border and how long it takes to change drivers. Tufesa advises you to call ahead of time to find out if the bus is on schedule. Tufesa is a Mexican busline that lots of US citizens use to go in and out of Mexico...We live in AZ, and have a home in Mazatlán, and this is an inexpensive way to travel back and forth. My most recent trip was from Kingman, AZ to Las Vegas and although when I called ahead of time and was told the bus was running late. once it arrived (45 minutes late), it was a quick trip to Las Vegas. The driver was very courteous and was more than happy to help me with my luggage. I tipped him, just as I would an American driver. I have absolutely no complaints. If there is a better or less expensive way to get from AZ to Las Vegas, I don't know what it is. A senior ticket is only $30. read more

We took the Tufesa Charter bus from Salt Lake City to Las Vegas round trip. The bus drivers were very professional and on time. The bus was clean and so was the bathroom. Tufesa staff even called me on the return trip to tell me the bus would be 15 minutes early to Circus-Circus to pick us up. One odd thing is I expected a bus full of senior citizens on their way to gamble in Las Vegas. However, the bus charter is a Mexican Bus line, we were the only english speaking people on the bus (except the bus driver was bilingual). The entertainment/movies were dubbed Spanish with or without subtitles in English. Overall I was very impressed. read more

For the last five years our family of four has been taking Tufesa from Phoenix to Hermosillo. Without exception Tufesa has done an excellent job. The busses have been new Volvo moter coaches and are clean and well cared for. The drivers are professional. Here are a few points of information to be aware of: 1. It is a lot cheaper to fly to Phoenix and take a Tufesa bus to northern Mexico than to fly the whole way. 2. Scheduling your bus trip can only happen within 15 days of departure. If you buy your airline tickets three months in advance, as we do, you will have a disconcerting two plus months to wonder if you will be able to get your family on the bus to Mexico. We have never had a problem getting a ticket, it just worries me. 3. Going intoto Mexico will be a lot faster than coming back from Mexico. So if you are flying somewhere else in the U.S. then consider coming back to the U. S. on one day and flying the next day to your final destination. 4. If you are an American Citizen you will get a little window into how poorly we treat our Mexican neighbors. Remember, you will be riding on a Mexican bus line. At the U.S. border you will be treated with disregard for the most part. The bus will be expected to wait until the border patrol feels like getting to it. You might even be told that the bus needs to have a safety inspection that will take an absurdly long time. You will be incredulous as you, and everyone else, can see that you are riding on a well cared for, very new, Volvo bus! It will be frustrating and embarassing to watch your country treat your fellow riders and the bus line this way. In the end, everything will be fine and at worst a little boring while you wait, but you wil get back to Phoenix. 5. If you want to sleep, bring ear plugs. There will be a movie playing on the bus and it will prevent you from sleeping if you need quiet. You wil be safe, comfortable, and well cared for. Viva Tufesa! Andy read more

WORST BUS COMPANY. Booked tickets back in January with wheelchairs in booking. Travelled from Anaheim to vegas in april. Rang 2 days before booking to let know about wheelchair needing ADA bus and again 1 day before travel again. Bus turned up on time but driver didn't know how to use lift. Yelled abuse for not letting them know we needed lift (after we did) Had to ring some one to learn how to use lift. Took 30 minutes to get 1 wheelchair on. Spoke rudely about us in Spanish to 2 other people on bus. When the stop was made 5 hours into trip bus parked where wheelchair couldn't get off so no toilet break. Had booked return trip and did the same thing rang 2 days to remind ADA bus and rang 1 day before and told yes 8am pick up. Booked out of hotel waited at stop when bus turned up around 820 bus was not ADA so couldn't take wheelchair. Rang company only to be told catch the 1230 bus to hungington to get us in there at 930pm and find our own way to Anaheim. Not happening!!! Rebooked for next day but then we would have had to paid an extra night accom in Vegas, already paid for accom in Anaheim and couldn't use 4 peoples 1 day pass at Disneyland. Couldn't depend on them turning up next day so booked with greyhound. Got it for $40 cheaper and left at 3pm the same day. Bus was cancelled on 17th april and only just got money back for cancelled trip on 5th May. Never use this company if you need ADA bus read more

Worst Bus EVER! I took the bus to Las Vegas. When departing Las Vegas ON THE TICKET I was told to wait in the specific area. After waiting a half-hour past the departure time, I contacted the office and was told to stay in that location and that the bus was running late. A half-hour turned into an hour, so I contacted the bus again. I was told the bus stopped to pick-me up in another location and left. I told them that if a departure area is listed on the ticket that's where the bus should be departing from. They responded that I should have "looked for" the bus. I was furious, needless to say. I was given a partial refund, but I will never be taking this bus again.The staff was incredibly apathetic and rude. You are better off WAY better off taken the bus that leaves from the Chinese Cultural Center. read more
