I always heard that, when passing by Tularosa, NM, you should stop at Tulie Freeze for an ice cream. So after many years, we finally stopped and they were open! We each got a blizzard type treat, one with Oreos and one with Heath bar. The portions are pretty big. The place was what you call a "dive", small, practical, no frills, simple, the kind of place that you can tell has not changed for decades. The Tulie Freeze was okay, not the best but not the worst I have had. I actually had an upset stomach the rest of the day but maybe that's because I don't usually have milk type products. Overall, I don't think I'll stop by again. Not much to it. My favorite part was that it looked as though it has been a family business for a long time. read more

We were in town for one night to pick up our puppy so we stopped in on Saturday night around 6pm. The two women that worked there were extremely rude and downright nasty to us. One of them was sitting in a booth when we walked in and didn't even get up to greet us when we walked in; we thought she was a customer! Food just ok but would definitely NEVER return or recommend to anyone! read more

Not the cleanest place. AC basically not so good. Yet the grill yielded a very good burger. Soft drink was flat. This is a very popular spot, still I would opt for the Airport Grill or Hi Di Ho in Alamogordo a few miles down the road. I saw lots of Ice Cream served here. The parking lot is very small. The family wanted to have a treat so we decided to go to Tulie Freeze in Tularosa. It is a standard little ice cream shack that seems to have been around for some years. The interior is a bit run down and although it is clean, the old feeling appearance makes it feel messy. They serve ice creams treats such as soft serve, shakes, sundaes, etc. They also have a food menu with chicken fingers, hamburgers, fries, and so on. We ordered a chocolate, strawberry, and peanut butter shake. We also had a soft serve cone and a large order of french fries. I tried everything except the strawberry shake so I won't comment on that. The chocolate shake was terrible...it was soft serve mixed with Hershey's syrup and ended up tasting like a watered down bowl of ice cream you would make yourself at home. My son didn't even finish half of it. Not worth the $3 plus. The peanut butter shake was a little better, but nothing special. Just peanut butter mixed with soft serve. Again, it was not worth the price paid. The soft serve was just that...soft serve. You would have to do something really wrong to mess that up considering it is a mix and a machine. The large french fry was expensive for the tiny little bag of fries we got (think a small McDonald's size fry, but not the same price). They were good, but overpriced. Overall, it wasn't that great and the items we ordered were too expensive for the quality. I except better tasting desserts if they are going to charge that much. Also, the man helping us never greeted us, smiled, or said thank you. I believe things like this are important in a customer service based business. Probably won't ever go back. read more

Tularosa's local version of Foster's Freeze or Dairy Queen. Great when you're craving a burger, chili dogs, fries, etc. It's the soft serve ice cream that brought everyone in on the day we went. read more

Newer owners cleaned up everything. I hear it used to be gross and filthy but since the new owners took over it's yummy and clean. My favorite is the Philly cheese-steak! Cooks are polite and the cashiers are quite attentive and very nice to chat with. I go here every time I'm in New Mexico and I never leave disappointed read more

I paid $11.86 for a Bacon cheeseburger, fries and a drink. It wasn't worth the money. In fact I feel I have been ripped off. I called it in, combos on the website said $8.99. But when ordering the girl said it was wrong. She also said that there's no combos. Never again will I ever buy Anything from Tulie freeze. read more

Called an order in tonight for dinner. Literally was ready in 10 minutes. There was no wait and the food was still hot when we got home. Millie rang us out and she was so friendly. The chicken strips were absolutely wonderful and the box was entirely full. I don't think the prices are too much considering other locations in the area but you do get large servings. My favorite is the chicken tacos. Great place, great customer service, and great owners! Will definitely go back a lot!!! read more

This place is great. The place is always clean and the staff is super friendly. The flavors they have taste great and it is pretty darn cool. fruit is always really fresh. The quality of the toppings, the pricing, the customer service, and the flavors available. About once per year we get to go through Tularosa on our way to Ruidoso and often stop at the Tulie-Freeze for a green chili patty melt and fries. In July of this year, I was with my wife, kids, mom & brother driving around the Tularosa basin, and around noontime I convinced them to go to the Tulie-Freeze. We had an order large enough to fill more than one bag, and asked the owner if there was a park nearby that we could go to eat our sandwiches. He gave us directions to two different parks and sent us on our way. After we surveyed both parks and settled on one, we spread out our food and drinks on the picnic table for sorting, and shortly realized that we were one sandwich short. Our initial thought was that we should go back after eating, and ask for a refund for the sandwich that we never received. Shortly after we started eating, however, the owner came screeching around the corner in his car bringing us the missing sandwich. He said he felt terrible after he was making sandwiches for other guest in the restaurant and looked over and saw the extra bag that had our sandwich in it. (it had gotten left behind on the food preparation counter). There were folks in the restaurant when we left, so he had to get them their food, and then tell anyone else that came in that he "would be right back......." as he drove off to two parks looking for us ............ to bring us one $3 sandwich. He had no one to leave in charge while he was gone because the Tulie- Freeze is a one man operation. One Honest man (that is) that cares about customer satisfaction. read more

A change of ownership turned the Tulie Freeze into a great little fast-food store. The new owners scrubbed it spotless and hired good personnel. The food quality is now top-notch for this kind of business. Burgers, patty-melts, Reubens, fries (best in area), shakes, etc. all excellent. Highly recommended. Limited parking. read more
