I came here with my son on a Sunday night and the restaurant was empty. The ambience was peaceful as soft music played, it was just what we needed. The food came out fresh and was delicious. We ordered: scallion pancakes and received a generous portion; spring rolls and curry puffs. The curry puffs looked like dumplings but definitely maintained the flavor that I'm used to. For entrees we ordered the mushroom soup and chicken pad see ewe. Everything was tasty and fresh. Thankfully the wait time was short. A local restaurant that we have been meaning to try. The shrimp pad Thai was not to my liking. The taste was not enjoyable.

In summary, big portions but fairly average food. We came during lunch but elected to order from the regular menu because we were a little hungry and were told that the lunch size portion is half the regular size. I ordered pad thai. It was a fairly large plate with a really generous amount of chicken, but it did not taste even remotely close to authentic to me. Instead it seemed as if the chef had bought a pad thai seasoning from the local grocery store and added that to the noodles + chicken. On the plus side, it was a little spicy. I also tried some of the drunken noodle dish, which I did prefer (maybe because I had no benchmark to compare it to). I had this spot on my radar for some time now and finally got the opportunity to go. I was able to find parking nearby and was greeted by Kevin. I called him the hardest working man because not only did he serve us perfectly, he was taking orders over the phone and doing the take out. This place is BYOB and we ordered a plethora of things. For appetizers we had dumplings, spring rolls, and fried tofu. I liked the dumplings even though a little cold and the spring rolls were good. Wasn't a fan of the tofu though. Not legit thai food. I've tried this place many many years ago and it was definitely not Thai food. Got take out and was really disappointed that its still American Chinese food catfishing me as thai food. The biggest give away was the papaya salad had ripe papaya in it!!! The curry puff was the boiled potatoes with curry powder seasoning in wonton skin. The drunken noodles was spicy chow fun. The Thai chili chicken broccoli was, you guessed!!!! Odd. The food, while cooked perfectly fine, doesn't taste like Thai food at all. I get they bill themselves as a Thai fusion restaurant, but we ordered some classics like Pad Thai and Tom Yum soup while they looked like the authentic dish, the flavors were complete different. The Pad Thai seemed to be devoid of any sauce, heat or acid. I just tasted salt. Tom Yum at least had some acid but again just didn't taste like Tom Yum. My guess is the people running this restaurant/cooking the food aren't Thai, so if your goal is authentic tasting Thai classics I would look elsewhere. read more

Lunch specials are until 3pm ... so I was bummed when I had just missed it Parking is street and scarce at times Inside is ok. Not sure what the hype is, but it was def a let down. The seating and the light music is nice to sit in. We walked in on a Friday evening at 8pm and were greeted by a lady who wasn't overall pleasant at all. My husband is a meat eater I on the other hand prefer vegetarian so took a bit of a time to decide from the menu . Ordered tom yum soup between the two of us for the start. $6. It's the tiniest soup that got served in a bowl with very fishy smell but somehow tasted tangy and flavorful. Mushrooms and soup. But couldn't stand the fish smell at all. Maybe it was the bowl it came in, couldn't figure. We also ordered chicken green curry and it didn't please us as well. With extra jasmine rice. The curry was thick literally could taste the coconut milk and kid you not it doesn't taste that good, no spice very bland if you take out the basil. Sure it did come with good amount of Green beans and broccoli and chicken, but didn't make up for the lost taste. The quantity was huge to share between the two. Around $13 and extra rice bowl costed $2 each. There was no water served until asked and tbh we were even turned off by then to ask anything else. We ended paying around $26 for the two items. This place does Pad Thai RIGHT!! Perfect spiced, great amount of sauce so the noodles aren't dry or overly sticky. Crab cheese wonton wraps are also excellent, avocado salad is wonderful. Beef satay was average but other than that we have always been very happy with this place. read more

So I'm in Union. There's Thai restaurants all over here but they suck. I ordered Tum Thai via Uber eats and swore if it sucked I guess I quit with Thai food for the rest of my life. When I think of Thai food and I don't want to drive 2 states away, I choose this specific place. I have been here a few times and it have never disappointed me. Sometimes you want to go for the basic Pad Thai but I like to box out and order for more. This last time I was here I ordered the Seafood Drunken noodles and the Vegetable spring rolls. I did notice the menu was a bit more abundant and and again I was surprised when the food came out in a timely manner. Drinks, Apps, then the main and boy was it a main.. We have ordered from and dined in here a few times and their Thai dishes are wonderful! We tend to stick with the spring rolls which are crispy and tasty and then go get the pad Thai and drunken noodles usually with chicken. They are both very tasty. I would highly recommend this place and also love their lunch special! You get a little of each and a soda and a decent portion of whatever you choose. I find the food to be really good here. My favorite are the chicken satay that comes with a yummy peanut sauce, the scallion pancakes, the teriyaki chicken, and mango chicken. I have eaten both take out and have been there for lunch. The lunch was nice as it came with soup and a salad that I really enjoyed. Given the location is not the fanciest, the service was nice and the food was yummy. The ambiance of the place is a bit outdated but all in all its not a bad joint. I would recommend it. read more

We went out for my mom's birthday on the first day of Coronavirus, because it's half way to other relatives, despite the fact that we were not supposed to leave home. The owner was waiting tables. He had a huge ego and terrible service. He was making a fuss about taking photos of our group, picking up dirty plates, giving spoons and forks to eat. Anything that a normal waiter does. Food was absolutely horrible. This was old, spoiled food, served to us like it was a real meal. It wasn't. I worked in two bakeries and was a prep cook in a restaurant. I also did deliveries for 30 restaurants and dated a pastry chef. I know enough about the food industry to know that the stuff we were given was way way way over the line. The peanut sauce was frozen! The seaweed salad was clearly thawed from frozen. The soup was spoiled. The chicken satay was clearly old...like leftovers from 3 or 4 days ago. And note...that anyone can write a review, including the restaurant staff and their friends...so that is probably why there are as many positive reviews as there are. And also, I have had bad experiences at Morris Thai and other places. I don't think these Thai restaurants are grabbing enough customers and moving enough product. And I think that is why they are serving junk...because they can't move enough food to truly sustain the business. So, they are serving old food to save money. The only good Thai place I ever came across was Brookside Thai in Bloomfield. But I haven't been in 10 years. Hopefully it is as good as it was back then. read more

The pad Thai is the best around. It's not spicy or mild and bland. It's legit good. Although I'm extremely disappointed with the fact that it takes over 40 mins for takeout. If it was a one time occurrence i wouldn't mind, but it's now happened to us 3 times, which is enough for us to not go back. The food didn't taste any better than Thai I could've made at home. I should've noticed from the bulbous red ornament on the door that I was entering more of a Chinese restaurant than a Thai restaurant. The chicken satay was pan fried and not grilled, which isn't how it's typically prepared. One of the key characteristics of chicken satay is that the chicken has visible grill marks. Chinese restaurants mostly pan fry meat. The curry puffs weren't puffs. They were potatoes with some curry seasoning (that wasn't thoroughly combined) in fried wonton wrappers. Wonton wrappers aren't Thai. The Pad Thai was okay. The duck was dry and tough in the curry. Obviously, no one wanted to try dessert. I'm very surprised that this restaurant had so many strong reviews, which is why we decided to go. It was a real disappointment, but so was another restaurant on Kenilworth Boulevard with 4 Yelp stars and a mildew odor upon entry. If you're just looking for quick food and stick to curries with chicken in them, it'll probably be fine. Other reviews have made this sound like an authentic Thai restaurant, but this isn't authentic Thai. It's easy to see where corners were cut. If you aren't looking for real Thai or spicy Thai, this could be sufficient. read more

If I wanted Chinese food I would have went to a Chinese restaurant. Curry puffs aren't puffs, they're wonton wrappers and deep fried, no flaky pastry, instead a sad excuse of a tough dumpling. Papaya salad was chunks of ripe and sweet papaya not shredded unripe papaya, dressing was more sweet than citrusy. Didn't eat much of it and the waiter at least took it off the bill. Drunken noodles were again way too sweet and super oily. The purpose of wok fried noodles and sautées is that you don't need to use much oil, just need a chef who knows how to cook on a wok. I would change the description to "Chinese take out interpretation of Thai food". Not authentic by any stretch of the imagination. If you're stuck and need some food, it'll do. The beef and basil paste is nice especially since they use an array of veggies and good steak not just ground beef. The one time I did it inside service was a tiny bit slow as they were understaffed but the workers were working extremely hard and were apologetic when things took long so I can't knock them for doing their best! read more

Utterly disappointed. Tried this place for the first time tonight (take out) and this will be the last. Between my mother and I, we got Thai wings, crab Rangoon (it's listed under a different name but that's what it is), curry puffs, "volcano veggie beef" and "volcano veggie chicken", and two Thai iced teas. I'll start with the appetizers. The wings were basically Chinese take out wings with some just okay tasting sauce on the side, which they did not give nearly enough of. The curry puff's were not puffy at all, but crunchy which is not how they should be prepared. On top of this, the filling had little flavor. The crab Rangoon was the best of this bunch, but far from the best I've had. Now on to the "volcano veggie beef and chicken". On the menu it is described as "deep fried with sweet spicy sauce and broccoli on the bottom". Upon getting the food and tasting it, we realized that it's supposed to be plant based meat. The menu was extremely misleading, as both my mother and I thought we were going to be getting spicy meat with vegetables. Also, nothing volcanic about it. We are throwing out basically our entire container of these dishes. Now the Thai tea should be the saving grace, right? Wrong. For appetizers, we got the fried tofu, calamari and mango salad. The majority of the food was pretty comparable to other Thai restaurants.
