One of my local favorites, ive been to three locations and Lake Austin maybe the fastest. The chicken is really good, the service was attentive and quick and its hard to beat westside cozy feeling. Parking is tight at Lake Austin but everything in that area is squeezed. Love the Dirty Fries and always get a quarter chicken with the best Mac and Beans . As for the heat, Hot is good enough. I dont know how anything more would be enjoyable. Great place, good Food. Two can eat well for under 40 bucks for lunch. Its a regular on my "treat yourself" rotation of restaurants. Not sure if I went on an off-day or it was how it usually tastes but I wasn't that impressed with the taste. The flavor wasn't bad but I felt that it was missing something. I got the "Hot" flavor level of the chicken tenders with fries and I enjoyed the fries more than the Chicken. I went to T22 quite awhile ago and remembered it being a good experience, but couldn't remember why I hadn't gone back there. After ordering for the second time, and not even making it half way through my Chicken Sandwich without having an upset stomach, I remembered why. Requested hot, the chicken in the sandwich had no seasoning on it, was just plain and disappointing. What's in the photo is all I could make it through, not a good sign. My waistline will hate me because Tumble 22 is less than 5 minutes from my place. Nothing quite beats the heat of Texas summer like the heat from howling hot Nashville chicken and this location of Tumble is for the most part just as good as the others. The fried chicken sandwich is still the best in town I think - huge piece of chicken on some cooling slaw and a snug bun. Chicken is juicy, hot and flavorful. I normally opt for somewhere between hot and dang hot depending on my mood, but mo hot is the safest if you have decent spice tolerance. Sides here, I've only tried the fries at this location and they've been a bit oversalted the few times I've gotten it but they are crisp. They also got a cheap happy hour if you're looking for a fried chicken snack in the afternoon, woot! read more

I will start with saying that tumble 22 has great food and I have been here plenty of times. However today was possibly the worst dining experience I have ever had in regards to service. My friend and I were sat at 3:15 on a Saturday, along with another table. The server came up to the table right next to us right after they were sat and took their order and left, said nothing to our table. The server then returned with their drinks and food, and walked away. At this point we waited for a few more minutes and I walked up to the front to ask for a water as we had been sat for almost 20 minutes and no one had come to our table. I was told a manager would be over in a minute and they would get us water. Once I got back to the table, the server stopped and closed the tables next to us check (who was sat within seconds of us) before talking to us. So within 30 minutes the table next to us ate their food and left and we still had not been offered a drink even after going to ask for it. Once the server came to our table, we ordered. We received our sandwich's but the server "forgot" my order of fries and would be right back.(my friend ordered fries and received them with his sandwich) I also asked for a refill when she came back. The next time We saw our server was about 10 minutes later, I had one bite of my sandwich left and I had to go to the hostess in order to get a refill of water. Server still never brought my order of fry's, but after asking for fries again she walked away and returned within 30 seconds with a fresh batch of fries Since I wasn't able to talk to a manager while I was there, I guess is the next best thing. read more

Okay, this review is three months in the making. Back in November, we came here for the first time. I am not ashamed to say I saw a Tik Tok that told me I NeEdEd to come here right this second. So we did. Back in November, the sandwich of the month was the Pimento one - I forget what it was called. But what I did not forget was how freaking insanely amazing it tasted. So good that we came back the next week for seconds. Another notable part of our first experience was the RANCH. Um, where does this ranch dressing come from and how can I get a lifetime supply of it? Also, I would eat Tumble22's pickles everyday for the rest of my life and be satisfied. Anyways, I'm sure you're asking why I only gave four stars. I'm not sure if it was the fact that the Pimento sandwich was so good that nothing will ever compare, or what, but the December sandwich and the January sandwich didn't cut it for me. The parking: Kind of slanted slope, small parking, may have to wait for someone to leave. The Food: The food was yummy, the "Hot" option was not spicy. It tasted more mild, I would recommend going up one level to taste any kind of spiciness. Macaroni & Cheese was creamy, fries were crispy. The chicken piece in the sand which was 1/2 the size of the bread itself. Very petite. The Bad Customer Service: The initial interaction with our server was smooth. We received our drinks, but when it came time to order..... Our server was not well versed with the menu, and he seemed confused and just either didn't understand my question about the sides orders or just really didn't know the answer. So what happened was my 12 piece chicken pieces didn't come with a side, and I thought it would cost (+1) to add a side. I asked him why is it that it is only (fries +1) but the bottom if I order a sandwich it says (any sides +2). He was just "shrugging" and responded "well I don't know why" it was just so awkward, without any effort to know why or understand what exactly it is I am asking. The real answer to the question is "maccoroni and cheese or French fries is an additional $1 on top of the original price of $4.00 for the macaroni and $3.00 for the fries; if you were to order those two items it would cost you ($4.00 + $1.00) and ($3.00+$1.00) respectively" Since he didn't explain this and I Genuinely and naively believed that the sides would costs me only $1 each, I ordered them both. When I asked for the itemized invoice, I saw that the fries was $5.00 and Maccaroni was $4.00. If only I had put both of these items under the Sand-which order it will be $2.00 each sides. I gently asked our server if he can help us switch this mix up and categorize the two sides below the sand-which order instead of making it a la crate, this way the two sides would cost a total of $4.00. He said he will go ask the manager and the manager said no. We said that's fine and we will pay for the full amount. My husband was trying to share his thoughts on how it's strange that it would have saved us $5.00 if the side orders were put together with the sandwich order. And then bam! It went from a decent interaction to our server flipping the switch on us. We were taken aback when our waiter responded "I don't have time to argue!" and was very combative. We gently assured him that we are just letting him know and providing an opinion and sharing our thoughts. It was unnecessary for the attitude and it is truly not a way to treat any customers. We just spoke to him nicely and we didn't have any attitude, I even admitted that it was my mistake and we were happy to pay the full amount. But just wanted to share our thoughts is all. But to him, we were "arguing" and being "demanding" and "not his fault." No customer will expect the server to resolve all and every issue, and if the server feels that it is out of his control and simply didn't want to be in that situation. All he had to do and say was "I can get my manager to speak to you if you have any more concerns" instead of saying "I DONT HAVE TIME TO ARGUE" and "THEY DONT EVEN LISTEN TO ME" or "THATS NOT ON ME" We were quite shocked and I never in my life had any waiter talked to me that way. Generally they will listen and move on. Our server talked to us as if he was our boss and we were the employee that did something wrong. He was combative and extremely defensive. Even after I admit my mistake as the customer for reading the menu wrong, he still treated us in an unkind manner. It was like watching a firecracker popped and I felt very uncomfortable just sitting in that restaurant. It's tough being in a service industry I understand that, but the job will be more unpleasant when the employee does not know how to take the right approach to resolve a situation and putting the customer as the bad culprit. If the server does not understand this concept of just listening and deescalating the situation then they are in the wrong industry. In the end, it's all about communication in any job, and what kind of approach is being taken. I don't think this personnel is the right fit for this job if he can't handle a situation calmly. Hot Chicken outside of Nashville? I'm in. That's what we said when we found Tumble 22 and decided to try it out as part of our anniversary celebrations. We have had Prince's in Nashville (#1 Best Hot Chicken) and Haddie B's in Nashville (#2 Best Hot Chicken) and Tumble 22 wasn't as good as those BUT it was really solid and definitely the best we have had in Texas. Austin is full of fun & funky spots that have unique food and this place is no exception. I think the large OG Sandwich is the best value. The sides weren't anything special but the chicken is definitely worth checking out if your in the Austin area. Glad we went and we will hit it again when we're in Austin in thr future. read more

WOW. This is the best chicken sandwich I have ever had. I got the O.G sandwich with the coleslaw. The chicken portions are huge with a perfect crispy crust. I have a secret for those of you wanting to try, get a side of the beer cheese and add it to your sandwich. You won't regret it! My brother got the 1/4 chicken breast and a wing, he likes his fried chicken spicy and boy was it spicy. He also got the collared greens and said they were super good too. This place really knows how to make fried chicken and has never disappointed us! Usually with chicken I'm skeptical because I really never had quality fried chicken, but after Tumble 22 my eyes opened. The chicken is crispy AND juicy and their fries are AMAZING! So crispy and thin, perfect every bite. I usually get the OG chicken sandwich which is so good ( tho I do wish there's less coleslaw). Recently I tried the 1/4 dark and the chicken was crisp and juicy. Their potato salad is really good as well.
