This food truck is located in the back courtyard area of the Belgian pub, Morte Subite. Outside of Spain, I haven't had truly authentic Spanish food since I lived in Pittsburgh. Yep, that's right! I digress. The food is smack you in the face delicious! Literally love everything on the menu from the omelette to beef Bombas, ham croquettes, and the charcuterie plate. Fresh, imported ingredients that bring travel memories back as though we're actually back in Spain. The chicken croquettes are to do for. So since they're located at a Belgian establishment, they also serve authentic fare from Belgium. The Flemish frites are spot on! Served with a homemade andalouse sauce that sends the tastebuds into orbit. I can't give them enough stars!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Excellent authentic Spanish food and lovely collaboration for indoor seating and drinks![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Had the seafood paella, patatas bravas and green salad. ¡Sobresaliente!

Tortilla española, pan con tomate, and jamón croquetas. Glass of sherry and some white wine to boot.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]10/10 for food, service and ambience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Outstanding beer selection at the bar with plenty of other options if that's not your thing. The bartender was attentive and at my request gladly offered some recommendations for live music in the area. I came in for the tapas from Austhentico and they were perfect: Jamón croquetas and tortilla española like they're made in Spain. I'm here 4 nights and I'll be back to try more because I can never find the real deal. And this is it. Muchisimas gracias!!

I'm a big fan of Tortilla Española, and the one here is just as good as I remember from when I was in Spain! I HIGHLY recommend the Mussels and Fries. Whatever oil they used to fry them in was so tasty. Super oily but with amazing flavor. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Although the place is a food truck, it's located right next to a pub where you can take your food in and eat with air conditioning.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service is super quick and friendly too. Will be back!

If you enjoy tapas, run..don't walk to this food truck. The food here is incredible. The truck is located behind Mort Subite (A Belgian Bar) off of Congress & 4th Street. You can walk through the bar or also park in the back alley if you'd like to get take out without having to park on the busy main street. You're able to order your food at eat it on the patio or inside the bar, which is nice on a hot day. Back to the aforementioned food, the aioli for the patatas bravas is delicious. The potatoes themselves were cut to the perfect portion and fried to the perfect level of crispiness. The jamon croquettes were creamy and exquisite. The taste of the bocadillo de jamon was delectable and the bombas were great with the sauce. I want to return and try the paella. For some reason, Spanish restaurants don't tend to stick around too long in Austin which is a shame because it's one of my favorite cuisines. So please go see for yourself how amazing the food is here!

Austhentico needs more hype! My best friend studied abroad in Europe and said she was really craving patatas bravas, which is a really popular breakfast item in Spain. This food truck is pretty hidden, and it's also connected to a bar but you'd have no idea there was this delicious food truck right behind the bar. I've passed by this area hundreds of times and had no idea Austhentico was here. The patatas bravas were SO good. It was my first time trying it, but my friend said it was really authentic and brought back a lot of nostalgia. I love how it looks dense but it's actually quite light, and the sauce it comes with is delicious. We also ordered mussels and frites because the chef recommended it, and it was so good! I thought the pricing was really fair for how many mussels you get. I'm not even normally a mussel fan, but they cooked it really well and it's seasoned lightly as well. The fries were the star of the show. I have no idea what oil they use to fry the fries, but my friend and I couldn't stop raving about them. They're so nice and deserve all the business. Please come give them a visit!

If you want authentic Spanish tapas then come here. I've been here several times and it always so delicious and consistent! My favorites are the croquettes, Spanish tortilla and the beef bombas. Chef Luis is amazing and so nice! I would give more stars if I could. 100/10!!

A solid 5/5. I cannot rave about this place enough. It was quite the drive for us to eat here but it was well worth it. I did place an order in advance as I've never been here before and wasn't sure if there was a wait. The food was ready upon our arrival. We definitely over ordered because everything on their menu looked so delicious and we wanted to try it all. No regrets. Just from eating the food, you can pretty much taste the passion that had went into preparing the meal. - Bombas - 5/5 - Flamenquin - 5/5 - Chicken Paella - 5/5 - Patatas Bravas - 4/5 - Tortilla Española - 5/5 Other bonus points for me: - I love their homemade aioli and salsa that came with the tapas - Amazing service! We decided to eat there as we didn't want the food to get cold on our drive home. They have a tented area with mist fans to keep diners cool in the heat. Chef Luis himself checked up on us a few times to make sure we had enough plates/utensils and to see how everything is tasting - They put a little flag of Spain in every dish. Super cute! - They are an eco-friendly business I can't wait to come back and try out the rest of their menu. Definitely going to be getting the bombas and flamenquin again though!

After reading previous reviews about Austhentico I really wanted to love it, but my group left disappointed. We ordered to-go food from this food truck on a late Thursday night and were met with spectacular service. The man in the truck was very kind and seemed excited to serve us, but unfortunately the food was just fine. We ordered the bombas, flamenquin, patatas bravas, chicken fideua, bocadillo de Spanish chorizo, and bocadillo de Pepito de Ternera. My main dish, the chicken fideua, had flavor but was extremely dry. I left wondering if it had been left to cook for too long. The flamenquin also had good flavor but was dry on the inside. The mashed potato and ground beef bombas were tasty and were complimented nicely by the homemade garlic aioli and salsa. The patatas bravas were my favorite dish by far -- they were perfectly crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside. My friends that ordered the sandwiches said they also both had good flavor. The dishes are pretty fairly priced, with a meal for one person costing approximately $14. I do not recommend visiting this truck late at night, because the road to and from can be very dark and difficult to see. Overall, we found the food good but not great. Several dishes stood out, like the patatas bravas and bombas, but were not enough to keep me running back.

A little bit of Spain right here in South Austin! Chef is from Spain (Barcelona) and cooking up nothing but authentic tapas! We tried the flamenquin, bombas, tortilla española and flamenquin . It was all delicious!!! So fresh and filling. In true tapa fashion, we ordered 4 dishes for two people to share so we could get a sampling of different dishes. As I mentioned, we had the fried potato balls filled with ground beef "bombas", deep fried rolls with pork loin, ham and cheese "flamenquin", a Spanish style omelette served with sourdough rye with tomato spread "tortilla espanola & pa amb tomaquet", little potatoes "patatas bravas", and the BEST steak, caramelized onions and cheese sandwich ever!!! It's called the Pepito de Ternera!!! Highly recommend!! There are also plenty of noodle dishes, salads and grilled sandwiches for kids! Located next to the hive in the parking lot area of gas station (the zone). The chef also offers specialized catering for private events. Check out his Instagram and Facebook for more info about his journey. This is a great way to sample many traditional dishes! We will definitely be back for more!

We had a reservation and the host sat us down immediately and was so friendly. Our server was there right away. Her service was just perfect ... friendly and not over the top. She was knowledgeable about the dishes and gave us suggestions. We had a mockingbird mocktail and my son a soda. The drink was perfect. We ordered the whipped feta, falafel and beef Lamb kefta. Everything came out really quickly. The falafel was absolutely delicious. The whipped feta was a hit with my son. The kefta was a little disappointing. A little bland and dry. I ordered the pannacotta my son the chocolate chocolate cake. I absolutely loved mine with the sorbet on top. My son loved his cake. Atmosphere wise the restaurant is beautiful and cozy and grand but the only complaint would be the music was too loud and it was hard to hold a conversation. The waitress didn't come by to refill our waters, I had to ask the staff. And then we were sitting around for about 30 minutes to ask for boxes, and even the check. This is a must get especially if you love warm and creamy stuff. The outside is nicely fried and if you never had it, it's similar to Japanese takoyaki. Although I love it a lot, the portion was just right for sharing because it really fills you up. We also got the potatoes (nice, but nothing that blew my mind) and chicken empanadas that I thought had a strange, sour taste. I wouldn't get that again. I highly recommend getting different tapas instead of the main courses so you can try different things. We were completely satisfied with the meal after getting these but still made room for the orange almond cake!! This was extraordinarily good!! Not too sweet and the cake has a nice moist texture-not dry. It took a while for food to arrive so service was a bit slow. You can also sit outside if you want but we sat indoors since it was chilly. Now that we have that out of the way, how was the other food? Excellent! We have four dishes and I'd would rank them: 1) catchetada 2) (tied) cochinita pibil & ceviche 4) fish tacos Both the cochinita pibil and ceviche were excellent - loved how the meat was wrapped in a banana leaf. They now offer a daily happy hour from 5-6 p.m., and on Fridays from 12-5 p.m. they feature specials on select bites, $10 margaritas, and 25% off bottles of wine. That definitely ensures I'll be back for many more visits!

They change their menu often so there is always something new to look forward to. Charred Edamame With Pop Rocks ($9): So fun to eat and quite addictive. The chili oil was spicy to me but not my husband so just be aware of your heat tolerance. The salt pop rocks combo is genius and so good that we wanted to take it home to season our steak. The edamame were also perfectly charred. Highly recommend! Lamb Pops ($28): Came with 3 lamb pops that were perfectly cooked and so delicious. Even better with the yuzu yogurt. 44 Farms Tartare ($24) + Quail Egg ($6): This looked like a bird's nest and had so many textures going on. A great sensory experience and it tasted really good too. I would say a little less of the crispy bits would help since I felt they were close to overpowering the rest of the dish.

The Your Favorite Drink was shimmery and thoroughly enjoyed the pea flower with not a super sweet drink. The only miss was the service. Wasn't really as helpful or even energetic, sort of felt like we were burdening them in a way. Otherwise perfect meal!

I was lucky enough to live right across from it, which meant I got a 10% neighborhood discount and could casually stop by for a cocktail or bite without worrying about parking or wait times. This is the kind of restaurant that puts so much care into every cocktail and dish on the menu. I still remember walking my dogs in the morning and seeing the team already preparing something delicious in their outdoor smoker and grill, getting ready for the evening ahead. You can really feel that level of thoughtfulness in the final experience. Even though Emmer & Rye is known for its food, I'd say the cocktails alone are worth a stop at the bar. Each drink is unique, balanced, and beautifully done. Their pastas are some of the best in Austin, in my opinion--even better than many Italian restaurants. The cacio e pepe is perfectly silky, delicate, and rich without feeling too heavy. My husband's favorite is the pappardelle with smoked wagyu, and honestly, that dish may have ruined all other pappardelle dishes for us. It is that good. Cocktails and pasta aside, they also nail their mains. I always go for the steak, which is especially fun to watch as they grill it over coals and oak fire right at the kitchen counter. Overall, Emmer & Rye is one of those restaurants that feels special every single time. Whether you're stopping in for a drink, sharing a few pastas, or going all in for dinner, it's easily one of Austin's best and most memorable dining experiences.

Absolutely wonderful experience at Emmer & Rye with the fam tonight! This is one to try for sure!…read moreFirst off, beautiful restaurant with great people and great ambiance - service is attentive, kind, and genuine. Second - they have Michelin Green Star and are ZERO waste - and they explain throughout the meal how they make this happen. So very cool. And the food - 5/5 for sure! So good to know - we learned that the best way to order is sharing. The restaurant makes items as they're ready, and that means if you order a pasta, and someone else orders the chicken; you might be eating your dishes at different times. Good news! We love to try everyone so don't have to ask me twice! Standouts - Johnny Cakes with toasted egg foam. Delicious and decadent - not to be missed. The bread - everyone loved it. The butters and honey made on site using leftover cheese, yogurt and fruits (aka zero waste). All the pasta, but specifically the Cacio e Pepe - perfection. I could say something about everything but to suffice to say it was all wonderful!! Thanks for a great night!

The menu is on the smaller side, but that only makes it feel more intentional. Every dish is thoughtfully executed, beautifully presented, and cooked with so much precision. I always order the espresso martini because it truly hits differently here, along with the chicken heart skewer, which is incredibly rich, tender, and full of flavor. From there, we usually add another appetizer and a protein entrée, whether it's steak or fish, and I honestly haven't had a bad dish yet. Everything is consistently cooked perfectly and feels unique enough to make the meal memorable every time. Was sat right away after arriving and greeted shortly after. The convent was described as this was my first time in and the specials of the day also provided. After reviewing the menu I went with the corn bread, fried quail and the strawberry cream puff for dessert. The cornbread was amazing with the butter and softness while having a nice outside crunch. The quail had amazing crispy outside and the meat seasoned well, the creamed corn went well and finally the strawberry cream puff had nothing left. So delicious. I love that the restaurant basically wraps around the kitchen to give a full on experience.

This restaurant was everything I could of asked for. Probably the best restaurant we tried in all of Austin. I'm from Los Angeles, and have been to many high end and hip restaurants, this was definitely up there with some of the best restaurants. Food: Crab tagliatelle is a must! This dish was delicious and everything you can ask for from a pasta. Gnocchi special with Peas and Asperagus is a must. This creamy and feather light dish was packed with so much flavour. Lobster scalloping was very good as well and so was the filet mignon. But best of all were the side of carrots, pear and endive salad and the Cho salad. My drink was the basil cocktail was was phenomenal. Everything was just so so very good. Our waitress Tiagna was an absolute delight in every way. Thank you so much!!!

I had a great view of everybody walking by the restaurant outside :) Our server was fantastic! He was super friendly and attentive. We arrived at 8:00 p.m. and left a little after 10:00 p.m. The food was delicious. My man absolutely loved his seafood pasta dish! He doesn't even eat pasta but he scraped that plate dry. I highly recommend ordering family style for the table but make sure your whole party is on board with splitting the check evenly because the restaurant does not break up the check according to diners only split evenly, I believe up to four ways. Example: Our check was $822 (included gratuities) for seven people and we were only able to split evenly four ways. Roughly $118 each. It is what it is but I didn't even get a main course. Just a glass of wine, a half of a piece of bruschetta, some of the Caesar salad and a small portion of the gnocchi (all shared) I'm glad I got to experience Red Ash, but now that I've checked that off my list, I'm good.
