After living in the area for 2 years, we decided to try Tumbledown on a saturday night, as it's prime rib night.I knew what I was going to order, but my wife didn't know what she wanted and was amazed at how many options appealed to her. She decided to get the Risotto with chicken. Hands down, my prime rib was the best cut of meat I have ever eaten, as it was done to perfection.The mashed potatoes and green bean were also as good as I've had anywhere. My wifes meal was just as good as mine, from the way she described it, plus I took a few forks full of it too. Both meals were big enough, that we needed to go boxes and I have to say the only surprise we got that night was when the bill came. Even though the meats in our meals were farm fresh, the price we paid for dinner was no different than many other places we eat. We WILL be back. read more

Okay to stay on focusing on point she asked the person answers the phone how much is a steak tip dinner lady says $16 it was okay we'll take two in an order of onion rings. So the order comes to $55 my wife doesn't really catch it doesn't click with her. So we're driving down there we got about 10 minutes into the ride not even like 7 minutes so how many honey how much is it to $55 so what the hell did you order steak dinners and onion ring said $5 fine and $16 for steak tip tennis is 37 bucks how is it 55. Is it $18 up to charge what are they getting that for covid-19 So she calls back the lady says yeah you ordered state-to-state tip tennis I don't know let me talk let you talk to manager manager gets on this is the steak tip dinners 20 to $6 each I was like yeah pig's ass they are it's just tell him we don't want it so he starts arguing with her arguing with her on the phone what happened to the customer is always right and we're going to do right by you.? So what happens as we hang up she says you're obligated to get these we already made them so we have we not coming to get them hangs up she gets two or three telephone calls reject the call somebody sends you a text said thanks thanks for making us lose out on $55 for two dinners you will added she says the host has to pay that out of her own money because we have a policy did any food that's not paid for comes out of the service money. Which I didn't believe to be true because number one it was their mistake. She said you ordered from the lunch menu. We didn't have a lunch menu we looked and seen what they had to see if they have steak tip tendons recalled after specifically how much it was she said $16 they should be bound by that. Tumbledown is one of the only full service restaurants in the area, and was a fine choice when searching for dinner on a Saturday night. I loved how lively and fun it looked from the outside, especially at night all lit up. They had live music as well the night we were there, which made the experience even more fun. Upon entering, I immediately noticed the great decor around. Maybe it's because I'm currently on a Fixer Upper binge, but I absolutely loved the 'farmhouse-chiche' look. The restaurant was packed with the bar full of people and tables rapidly flipping. Our party of 12 was seated quickly and we searched through the menus for some good farm to table apps and drinks. Our server Krista was quick, friendly, and attentive. They have a good selection of beers on tap along with some fun speciality drinks, Bloody Mary topped with a full meal anyone? We really enjoyed the huge Bavarian style pretzels served with a sweet and spicy honey mustard, along with the boar egg rolls. For dessert, the pumpkin pie with vanilla ice cream, warm chocolate cake, and tiramisu all but the spot. I highly recommend dining at Tumbledown! read more

We visited last night, 7/6/24. We arrived about 7:10 and seated about 7:30. Party of 4. No one showed up at our table until 7:45 stating no one told her we were put in her section. We ordered drinks and apps. Both came out in a reasonable time. We ordered dinner, out of brisket, out of pulled pork. Fine. 2 ordered other things, 2 ordered pizza. 10 minutes after we ordered, she came back to let us know they are out of chicken and broccoli for the pizza. We order another one. The two that ordered other things get their food. No pizza. Should be out shortly we are told. The others finish their dinners and 2 of us waiting for pizza. It is now 8:50-2have eaten 2 have not. My husband asks to speak to our waitress who tells us pizza is still 5 min out. We ask for our check because now it is beyond ridiculous. She brings the check. We ask her about the pizza-it's still in the oven. Ok then please box it and add it to our check we ask. No problem she says. So here comes our check and boxed pizzas. She did not charge us for the pizza. All in all, pretty fair. We are hoping this was just an off night because we have been here a few times and everything was great. It was very busy. We will go back again. The food we did get was excellent. read more

This used to be one of my favorite places to eat. They once had a great selection to choose from but that has all changed. Last night I got BBQ, brisket and ribs. Both were on the dry side but ok. Baked beans used to be great but last night they tasted like bushes baked beans with something added to them, they used to make their own corn bread but now it looks and tastes like market basket corn bread and last the fries once they were real home made now they are cheep frozen fries. Basically they have gone way down hill 2-3 years ago everything we ordered was freshly made and real food now it's mostly all prepackaged food. This place is awesome! Soon it will be a full restaurant and bar! My friends and I decided to try this spot earlier this summer and it's now our go to breakfast place. Food is fresh and there is something for everyone. Yes, wait times can get crazy on the weekends but that is to be expected and we've never had a bad experience! They even have these amazing mimosas, bloody mary's and margaritas. The mimosas come with french toast and fruit on a stick, bloody marys with an egg celery bacon and sausage and the margarita came with nachos and other goodies on the side. There's fresh cider donuts and selections of meat to take home from their farm. I cant wait for this place to finish renovations so we can go anytime of day next summer. read more

A friend of ours who lives in the area recommended The Tumbledown Cafe to us on our way back to Mass. Excellent recommendation! All 3 of us in our party started off w/ a cup of clam chowder. Amazing! Thick & creamy, chock full of clams, potatoes & onions in perfect ratio. My dining partners stuck to Bud Light on tap, I went for the Bloody Mary w/ Absolut Vodka. I do appreciate the fact that our server asked me what type of vodka I wanted vs just using " house vodka". Bloody Mary was a bit spicy but it hit the spot! The 2 others in my party opted for a lunch special of 3 pulled pork sliders, homemade fries and homemade Cole slaw. Pulled pork was so tender & flavorful; EXCELLENT! I used to live in Memphis TN so I know my BBQ & I highly recommend giving theirs a try. I ordered a large Alfredo Mac n cheese pizza w/ smoked brisket Pictured. Wood fired pizza crust was so tender & just kissed w/ the fire of the pizza oven! Incredible pizza! Took home all but 1 slice. Others also had leftovers to bring home. Very affordable for a fantastic meal! As we were leaving, I noticed a Freezer of frozen meats from their own farm. I purchased a 1lb of ground pork, a rib eye steak , a Sirloin steak and a 6 pack of apple cider donuts- all for $40!!! So affordable! My husband & I ate 2x each using both steaks. The meat is so tender & tasty that we're going for a road trip this weekend to pick up more. Can't wait'. I highly recommend the Tumbledown Cafe. read more

Joined some friends for dinner at this establishment, and was seated immediately. Our server, Christina was friendly, however very professional. She knew the menu and was able to help describing the menu inside out , and frequently checked on us throughout ordering and during our meal. Our friend chose fish and chip and a hamburger and thought the meals were delicious. My husband and I were equally impressed with the Fried Buttermilk Chicken. It came with homemade mash potatoes and veggies done to perfection. It was so delicious that a few days later I tried to duplicate it in my own kitchen, but couldn't executed it the way the chef prepared it. His was definitely so much better! Having that Farm Fresh meal and the terrific service provided by Christina has made us think of this restaurant as a go to place when eating out. Spacious, rustic, country feeling type place. Very friendly staff with many different options for seating, including a nice bar. Decent craft beer selection and plenty of wines and liquor to choose from. The pizza is excellent. They also offer many larger dishes, but few small dishes (less than $10). Person behind the bar - Sara - obviously did not wish to be working! Incredibly rude and condescending. At the time, there were only 4 other patrons dining inside- so it certainly was not busy. I ordered a Burger-well done. It came out Medium and cold. My partner ordered Chicken Fingers - asked for 2 Honey Mustard dipping sauces - got one. Fries were cold. I ordered a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, with a glass of ice on the side - No glass of ice served. My partner ordered a Michelob Ultra and asked to have a glass - begrudgingly a glass was forthcoming! At no point did "Sara" approach us to enquire as to whether we may like to order more beverages. Got the Bill.... Added to the total is an automatic POS Processing Fee of $1.65! No discussion from the staff or written signage anywhere advising as to this added fee - poor Management. We paid the Bill just to get out of there. When reviewing the Bill later - we noticed that we had been charged for 2 drinks each! To Tumbledown Management - A word of advice for your business as we enter the Winter months - Hire pleasant staff- "Sara" would be better off being employed well away from customers! She clearly does NOT wish to engage with paying customers! Living locally, we definitely have wiped this bar/eatery from both our choices and any future recommendations to friends! read more

Some in our party thought the food was ok, most were not impressed. My burger was poor, greasy and tasted like the grill. My wife's chili came 30 minutes after everyone else's food and was bad. Ugh, NEVER going back!!! My folks and I went here today, huge mistake! We had to wait for a table, that's ok. Once we got our table this is how it went: 1. Did not see a waitress for 15 minutes! One stopped to say hi to my folks but she didn't even offer to get us our drinks while we waited. 2. Waitress finally arrives and takes our drink orders. Mom ordered a coffee, had to ask for a spoon. They bring a soup spoon, guess that's all they have. 3. She comes back and takes our order, 45 MINUTES for a chicken salad sandwich, egg salad sandwich and a side salad and a bowl of chili. The salad was supposed to be a starter. They brought it after the chili. Oh and people that arrived after us had their meals before us. Maybe because it was hamburgers? Does that mean their goods are not fresh but frozen? Some of the chicken in my sandwich was raw. At this point I try to eat what I can and go from there. 4. The layout of this place is terrible! Why would you put a kitchen at the opposite end of the restaurant? And they do not have people to bus the tables so the waitresses end up doing them. So needless to say, we will,not be going back at all! I suggest going to Poor Peoples Pub!!! Better prices and better service! read more

I wish I could give this place 0 stars after the horrible service we received back in June. We had a friend in town from Ohio, we had never been here but had heard rave reviews of their "famous" loaded drinks, so we decided to take our out of town friend along to experience these with us. We ordered one of each of the three drinks, Margarita, Bloody Mary and Mimosa. We also ordered a plate of fries since it was early afternoon and we hadn't had breakfast or lunch yet. 25 minutes later, two of the drinks came out and the waitress told us the owner would be out to explain where the other drink was. 10 minutes later, the owner came over and explained that the waffles that were supposed to go with the mimosa had burnt the first time, the second time the breaker had tripped and they didn't notice so those waffles were only half cooked and they were working on cooking new ones. She offered to take the drink off the bill due to the inconvenience, which was great and then she offered us free dessert, also great. Soon after, the drink came out, still no waffles, meanwhile, the burger and shrimp that came with the Bloody Mary were getting cold because we wanted to wait for all of us to have our drinks before we dug in. Another few minutes passed, we received our fries and a plate of waffles (the waffles were so undercooked they were almost inedible). We had moved our fries aside so we could take pictures of the drinks, the waitress came by and swiped the plate without even asking if we were done with them, we were not! She then came back and asked what we'd like for dessert, we decided to try one of each of the three desserts and then she proceeded to make a snarky remark about how we "made out pretty good just because of some waffles" Not only was that remark totally uncalled for, but it was downright rude! WE are not the ones who cannot cook a damn waffle, WE are not the ones who ASKED for free dessert, we were offered it and we took the owner up on her offer. Now I must say, the fries were the best part of the whole experience and even those were something we could have gotten at McDonalds. The Bloody Mary was horrible, I couldn't even drink half of it ($15 wasted), the burger slider that came with it was so dry and the bun was so old and stale it was hard to eat, frankly, I was scared I might break a tooth. The desserts were ok, nothing to write home about, the cookie ice cream sandwich was so over cooked and hard that again, we were afraid of breaking teeth, so we tried breaking into it with a fork, it was like trying to break a brick with a fork. The pudding cake thing that came in a bucket was interesting, definitely pudding made from a box, but the portion was HUGE, the three of us didn't even put a dent in it. This trip was a bust and although the owner was relatively nice, they need to work on getting some servers in there that aren't complete jerks who make snarky comments to the customers faces, save it for the back with your server friends. We will never go back here and we'll make sure we tell everyone about our experience. read more

This is a great restaurant. The food selection is broad and very good. They recently added pizza to their menu. I tried it and it was VERY good. It seems whatever I've tried at Tumbledown has been good. You can get a very nice dinner or a simple appetizer. Their salads are fresh and their beverages are also good. Staff is friendly. There are a few bad reviews on here but if you look at the dates they were made last year after they had just opened. It took a bit to work the bugs out but they did it. I highly recommend. Avoid!!! First visit here was not so good. Food was overcooked, and veggies had no flavor at all. No bread or any offerings at all for the price. We decided to try it again thinking maybe it was a bad night. Terrible!!!!! I ordered fried haddock and the fish was not fresh and it had a nasty taste. Ordered coleslaw and didn't get it so asked the waitress who was in training. She said things were a mess in the kitchen, but she is sure they could find some. Had a really yummy grilled Atlantic salmon dinner with fresh green beans and a treat for me, a salted baked potato.
