I wish I have read these reviews before I signed the contract with Tumbleweed Tiny House!! I signed a contract for a 33' Alta tiny home and paid a 10% down payment of $18,800. Two weeks later, I discovered my property deed prohibits mobile homes, making it legally impossible to proceed. Despite minimal work being done (just one design meeting), no materials ordered, and no production started, they refused to refund my deposit, citing their non-refundable policy. As the unsophisticated party, I relied on their guidance, followed all their instructions, and was urged to sign the contract. Their CEO, Steve Weissmann, has ignored my emails and remains unresponsive to mediation efforts by the Colorado Attorney General's office. I am now pursuing legal action due to their unfair business practices and lack of consumer protections. Maybe Tumbleweed was once a great company, but since changing ownership, their business practices have deteriorated significantly. They even filed for bankruptcy in 2020 and were sued for unpaid loans. I strongly recommend reading Yelp reviews and doing extensive research before signing any contract with them. Many customers have reported similar refund issues and concerns about poor construction quality. So please beware! I don't want anyone else to go through what I have to go through right now! read more

Don't walk. Run!!! Run far, far, far away. I had a tiny home dream going on years, and I finally bit the bullet and hired Tumbleweed for a ground up, custom tiny home. I had no intention on sparing any expense. The team was given 6 months for the project, and the problems began only weeks into the process. After the initial design discussion and first renderings we were off to the races. And then.... While the first renderings took the team 6 weeks, the second and seemingly easier second renderings took the team 14 weeks, included NONE of the proposed changes, and when confronted about the timeline and my worries I was told my design was "too detailed" and they demanded an undiscussed "design fee" if I wanted my ideas executed. What?! Oh... And, the detailed, overly complex design included standard fair for any other tiny home company like a foldable porch, Murphy bed and a few finishes. (I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that they tried to charge me 150% all MSRP for everything from my refrigerator/freezer to the $8,500 for a Murphy bed.). I should have walked then and there, but... Long story short... I stuck around and poured more time and money into the project. That is until 7 months into the project nothing other then incomplete renderings had been done. When I got my ducks in a row and confronted management and the CEO they LITERALLY hung up the phone and followed that up with an e-mail telling me to pound sand and contact their lawyer for any contractual disputes. I, like over 100 others, now find myself in bankruptcy court hoping upon hope to get back pennies on the dollar for my deposit. Bottom line... The CEO and management are liars and thieves. I try to avoid writing negative reviews if at all possible, but Tumbleweed Tiny House Company of Colorado Springs has forced my hand in this case. I purchased a 30 ft "Tiny Home" from Tumbleweed in 2023. The company advertises themselves as a high quality tiny house manufacturer. **Buyer beware, the term "Tiny House" is just a moniker they use for marketing purposes. I learned the hard way that what Tumbleweed manufacturers are actually Recreational Vehicles on a trailer (as certified by RVIA), which poses many (often insurmountable) hurdles when it comes to zoning in most jurisdictions. Don't expect to be able to place a Tumbleweed "Tiny House" on a lot in the vast majority of places, and know that many RV parks don't allow them either. My idea of purchasing a Tiny House and living a peaceful, minimalism life on my own property has turned into a legal nightmare where I am. I've found the best scenario for owning a Tumbleweed "RV on a Trailer" is to own an actual house, and "hide" it somewhere on your property. Of course, Tumbleweed avoids this topic during the sales process. That said, my biggest beef with Tumbleweed is actually low quality of construction and installation, poor response times, a highly condescending warranty claims associate named Christine, and their general unwillingness to take ownership for their mistakes. Immediately after accepting delivery, I noticed the following issues: 1. The wheel well covers were not cut to fit correctly and the holes were not lined up for installation. 2. One of the windows did not close properly or lock at all as it was warped. 3. The floor squeaked loudly in the bathroom around the shower. 4. The shelf above the refrigerator had a rather deep gash in it. 5. One of the beams was offline by about a foot (randomly). While attempting to address these issues with their "warranty department," I learned quickly that, at Tumbleweed, the onus is 100% on the customer to show proof, including photos and complete explanations. This is completely understandable, but the degree to which you have to go to convince Tumbleweed of their errors is absurd. The standard response by Christine, the warranty department representative, is "I don't know how that could have happened, we have an extensive quality control/inspector/process... we sell so many units and there's no problems... it's only you,etc." Even after providing videos and photos of the defective window and wheel well covers, I had to have numerous conversations with different representatives from the company, as they simply could not wrap their heads around the fact that my window was defective and the wheel well covers were not cut correctly, since, after all, they have a quality control process and everything is "inspected." After going back and forth, they finally ended up sending me the wrong color window and opposite side shelving, which became another time and shipping hassle. So much for attention to detail. The final straw, however, and why I am writing this review, is this: After about 4 months my mini split began making a loud popping/knocking noise every 60 seconds or so. I called Christine, who informed me that it would not be covered by Tumbleweed Warranty since it is (presumably) an issue with the unit, and put me in touch with a local certified Mitsubishi technician. Upon inspection, the technician informed me that there was nothing wrong with the unit itself, but that it had been installed incorrectly according to the manual. Specifically, the insulation sheathes around the lines were not taped, which leads to condensation that causes excessive expansion/expansion/contraction. Also, Tumbleweed added unnecessary wood trim around the unit, which was so tight that the tech could not get it back on. The popping/knocking sound stopped after the tech corrected these 2 installation errors. This service cost me $320, so I called Christine to place a warranty claim for "fit and finish" which is supposed to be covered. True to form, Christine's defensive and condescending response to my pointing out that Tumbleweed did not install the mini-split correctly according to the manual, was "that's not possible... we have a quality control/inspection HVAC guy... we sell so many units... you're the only one... and to "prove it." So I provided photos and the exact verbiage from the Mitsubishi manual. I have since been ghosted by the company. In summary, I do not recommend Tumbleweed "Tiny House" company. read more

Went on the tour today after being warmly greeted by Pat. I enjoyed the informative tour! Bumped into the CEO, who I recognized from the company videos. Steve was kind enough to say hello to our group. Bumped into Sam (who I didn't recognize!) and he made it a point to introduce himself to all the tour members and ask for our names. (Give that man a pay raise! Sam was great!) It would be great if some of the units were fitted with furniture so that we could "see" what they look like when they're furnished. Even a photo book in the units of what they look like when they're completely fitted with appliances. It seems like the Tumbleweed business model has shifted within the past few years away from the "do it yourself" model (if you want to!) to more of an RV sales model. NEVER BUY FROM TUMBLEWEED TINY HOUSE COMPANY OR STEVE WEISSMANN if I could give them a negative number I would. Tumbleweed and Steve Weeissmann takes advantage of their customers. They ride on their notoriety, letting people believe they are the best in the business because respected people in the Tiny Home Movement like Zack Giffin and Tiny Home Nation, or Ethan Waldman have spoken about the beauty of Tumbleweed's homes. I've never said their homes werent pretty, I have a beautiful 26ft Farallon Alta. She's pretty but she's not what was promised. My husband and I bought a NEW Tumbleweed Tiny Home in September of 2019, and we've sunk nearly 10k into the home already reparing; poorly engendered windows that cause leaks, faulty electrical that shorts out and blows fuses and ultimately needed replaced, and pay to repair refurbished appliances that were sold to me by Tumbleweed with a guarantee that all appliances we new. The company all the windows are from, JeldWen, didn't want to honor the warranty on their windows because the kind used in my home were never meant for Towable Tiny Homes, and without even saying the name, JeldWen knew exactly where I'd bought my Tiny Home from. The company that manufacturers my tankless water heater also didn't want to honor their warranty because their system, installed during the build, was tampered with, and I had to somehow prove to them it was Tumbleweed that tampered with it. We still need to put another $11,000 into the home to replace the axels and reengineere the tongue of the trailer because neither are sufficient to carry even just the the weight of the Tiny Home. We asked multiple times before the sale and before we took receipt of the home what the weight of the home was, and Tumbleweed danced around our questions. Often answering other important questions to distract from disclosing the weight of the home. The weight was left off of everything; the title, the licensing, the loan agreement, and they admitted to hiding the true weight of the home. Tumbleweed did not tell us the weight of the home until December of 2019 only after a general contractor working on other issues with the home brought to our attention the axles looked too small, and it took threatening legal action before they'd even admit they sold us a home nearly 3,000lbs over what their website had promised. To date, Steve Weissmann and Tumbleweed have not honored their own warranty. They HAVE however filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy and while admitting (through their lawyer) they lied to us and sold us an over weight home to get it off their lot, they refuse to pay to fix any of their issues. They will resort to slander, lying, manipulating, and flat out ignoring their customers, hoping to bully them into silence. We researched Tumbleweed Tiny House Co for over 2 years before buying one of their homes. we walked their facility, took a tour of their factory, met their builders, met the owner Steve Weissmann, we stayed in one of their homes for 10 days before buying one for ourselves, be believed all the hype that Tumbleweed Tiny House Co. was as good as the big names in the Tiny House Movement claimed. Tumbleweed Tiny House Co. and Steve Weissmann like to force their customers to sign Non Disclosure Agreements, (I HAVE NOT AND WILL NOT sign a gag order) Tumbleweed Tiny House Co. is still selling homes while in chapter 11, they ARE NOT telling the families they sell too that their homes are poorly engineered, they dont tell the people putting their life savings into one of their homes that they will need to out 10,000-20,000 more into the home after they move in just up repair what Tumbleweed poorly built....and they stop current customers from talking about those issues. Buyer beware. After researching this company, employees and customers have both advised that workmanship is substandard. Appliances in the homes are refurbished, not new (not disclosed). Tankless water heater safety seal 'tampered with' (voiding warranties. Also not disclosed) and trailer axils are often not sufficient to neither hold nor to actually transport the weight of the home. I didn't realize there were issues until after the 1 year warranty was up. The company filed chapter 11 and I was told that they weren't paying buyers for claims anyway. This is not a reputable company. The homes are substandard. The building process is a true hassle...contracts were constantly in flux, the build took significantly longer than projected, and deposits are completely non refundable. I've heard absolutely nothing good about them since and they're seriously harming peoples health and belongings-besides the homes they've purchased with serious mold problems. I was really excited to visit Tumbleweed and explore my options, but I ran into a similar dilemma to another person who posted on here that their customer service department is SEVERELY lacking. When I arrived, the staff was extremely rude and acted like I had put a huge burden on them simply by showing up. They treated me so poorly that I became discouraged and left the site with no plans of coming back. I bought a tiny house April of last year. The first time we had a strong rain here in California it leaked. Then the second time it rained heavy leaking again. Of course I e mailed Pat and sent pictures right away. The final response I finally got back months later was it wasnt covered. If I wanted a vent cover to prevent leaking I could buy it. That makes alot of sence to make a house that leaks , but if I want it not to leak buy this cover and fix it myself. What shitty customer service. Just visited Tumbleweed Tiny Homes for a tour.. my mom and I had so much fun seeing and learning from Paul who toured us through. It was great hearing the range of perspective he has since hes a designer and has worked with so many people! There was no high sales culture. Paul even said they just want to help us learn everything we want to learn so we can make our best decision for ourselves. His passion was contagious. You might leave with your head spinning because of so many exciting options, but it's a must do in my book! Feeling educated and excited! read more

I came to Colorado Springs for the weekend and wanted to check out Tumbleweed tiny house. I had consulted with their sales team already on setting up / customization etc. for the FALLON model. so I thought it would be great to see them in person. I arrived at 1:30pm Saturday 7/1/17. Both the website and their door says it opens from 11am to 3pm. There was no one at the front desk. I waited for 5 minutes and the front desk person showed up just to tell me I had "missed the 1pm tour". I explained I'm from out of town and is in process of purchasing. I was wondering if she can still take me through since it says they are supposed to be open until 3pm. She just said "sorry" and closed the door on me. I came to just visit and see some models. We've been tho king about and live tiny house hunters but wasn't sure if it's for us. Lots of parking in lot and on street. We were greeted right away. We got to view all their models. I thought they were way too expensive. I saw only 1 that could really work but $89,000 is ridiculous for 300 sq feet. I had no problem getting someone on the phone. They were not pushy, they explained the build and why they used what they did. Trial and error helps. They let me walk the shop and talk to the gals and guys building. Everyone was great in the shop. I had TONS of questions. They sent me photos of the build without walls up. I like to see where the wires are etc... Asked the builders about where I can Anchor things etc... Expensive but they do not skimp on quality. If you are going to live in a tiny home everything has to be quality. read more

I had a very long and detailed review, but it's over the text limit on Yelp. I'll post it everywhere else I can though. I flew half way across the country to Colorado Springs for a scheduled tour at Tumbleweed and was blown away at the lack of knowledge Jun (sales) had who couldn't answer most of the simple questions I had. Furthermore, I was misled by Jessica regarding a specific model I was coming to Tumbleweed specifically to see. I attempted to handle my complaint/concerns with Tumbleweed management directly but there's zero contact info for anybody but the sales team, who would no doubt file my email in the garbage before it ever worked its way up to somebody in charge. The reply I got from Jun was, "I forwarded your info to our CEO, he will respond if he's interested." Wow, way to run a business! Several months have passed and obviously he's not interested in what true potential customers have to say. Tumbleweed lost out on a sale from a serious buyer ready to purchase that day. I regret even buying the set of plans I did years ago from them. If you value your time and money, please look elsewhere for a tiny home. I've done extensive research and actually gone and visited manufactures all over. Tumbleweed is one you should most definitely cross off your list. He was able to show me multiple models and floorplans and even took the time to sit with me and go over all the available options. My husband and I are in the market for a tiny house and we immediately thought of Tumbleweed because they have been around the longest and because we were traveling from out of state through the Colorado Springs area. The website said we could stop by anytime between 11 and 3 for a tour. We arrived on time and were greeted by an older, stern blonde haired woman at the reception desk who asked if we have appointments. When I said NO, your website says "open house" between 11-3 she said I was mistaken. She eluded to the fact that I wasn't observant enough and that I would need to wait two weeks to get in an appointment. I would not be in the area that long. She dismissed me and made me feel very unwelcome. She did not even ask for my info or attempt to accomodate me. Here I am, ready to spend 80k on a home and she could care less that I am walking out. I get back in my vehicle and pull up the website where it indeed does say that walk in hours are between 11a - 3p. I walk back in with my phone to show her that she is wrong and she grabs my phone and walks away with it. (didn't even ask) I start to follow her because she has my phone, she turns and looks annoyed at me and puts her hand up to me as if to say, NO, YOU STAY THERE! She returns WITHOUT my phone! I demanded my phone be given back to me and she said, "Oh, I gave it to my marketing manager and he is looking at it" I stormed in the office for my phone, she is yelling at me to stop and I approach the marketing manager who has my phone in he hand and demand it back. He says that I must have got in to an archived page. I said no, it is active on YOUR website and showed him how I got there. The receptionist interrupts and says they would give me a tour anyway. At this point I turn to her and say, after the far from warm reception you gave me, I no longer want to do business with Tumbleweed and stormed out.
