This bar/restaurant is awesome and is also a vibe - they have pretty good tater tots and hot dogs as well as other comfort meals like sammiches and the such. Open late too like until 2am maybe. Excellent service from Jolene! Highly recommended if you are looking for a late nite hang out spot in DC near Da Hill.

Cool dive bar in DC with a great vibe. Came here for adult beverages on back to back nights. Bartenders have awesome stories to tell. Should be on your list of places to stop in for a spell when you are in the area. Walking distance from the Capital.

We arrived in town and as always try to find a Guy Fieri restaurant from Diners, Drives and Dives. This place was our least favorite so far out of all the places we have tried that Guy has done a show on. We got the mozzarella sticks, the West Virginian and a Philly cheesesteak. The fries were terrible: no flavor at all. The sauce for the mozzarella sticks tasted like tomato soup , but the sticks themselves were great. The sandwiches were good. The service, well it was the day of the Kentucky Derby so it was on the slower side. To make matters worse we had the table that was shoved in the corner. The bartender did his best but he was busy.

Great place great food. Get the onion rings!!! Lots of cool pictures on the wall. True neighborhood gem. Lucky we were staying in the area.

I've only been here for breakfast (opens at 8 AM, 7 days/week). The fact that Tune Inn even has a breakfast service available on Cap Hill is notable. I patronize this place in part due to this, but it's also got to have decent food and service too. Tune Inn delivers on that. Candidly, I've not had a drink here -- and make no mistake, it's a bar -- so, its alcohol offerings aren't what attracts me. However, no one can walk into this space and not see -- or perhaps choose to sit at -- the massive wooden, old timey bar that dominates the front space. The Tune wouldn't be the Tune without it. There's always some sort of philosopher-type sitting here sharing his world views; along with firefighters, federal staffers, construction workers, locals, etc., -- the common man and woman -- and that's why I return. The Tune, of course, features fab music from past. Possessing the 2nd oldest liquor license in DC, it's steeped in all kinds of history and was a former speakeasy. It's a fun meet-up spot that requires no reservations. The same family has owned and managed it for 70+ years. The breakfast fare is pretty standard and reliable. My go-to: Tune breakfast or steak & eggs. There's usually laughter, friendly debating, and a welcoming spirit here that I appreciate. It's an unpretentious watering hole -- rare to find on Cap Hill.

This place was exactly what we were looking for, a casual place to eat and have a drink (or two). Good food, good drinks, friendly service - loved it! The Reuben was delish, the burger was big and yummy, onion rings and fries were perfect.

The food was okay. The hamburger was good; however we ordered medium and it came out all brown in the middle, no red. The wings and onion rings were over cooked. We also had to wait quite awhile for our food. The service was great. The day manager is a super nice guy. Ambiance was that of a local bar. Cool things on the wall. Clean. Very popular as people continued to come in as we ate.

The food was great. The service was phenomenal! He checked on me so many times, I thought I looked dead. Had the Mac & cheese wedges. Different but excellent and the deep friend burger which was fantastic as well!

We've been hearing about Tune Inn for the last three years from soooo many people, so it was only right we checked it out. Between Matt or James, you'll leave Tune Inn with a smile on your face! From their commentary to their service, you are definitely in good hands. Prices are more than affordable and the portions are generous.

Great little hole in the wall dive bar. Quirky decor and music choice. The bartender was super friendly and he was able to seat our large party immediately. The fried pickles were phenomenal. I tried the chicken philly from the daily specials. Very filling, huge portion, and classic flavour.

Good service, great food, cool vibe! I recommend the cheese sticks and French dip. They were good!

A long time favorite with upscale bar food. Deep Fried or Joe's West Virginia are the sandwiches to try. Cool vibe since 1947. Check it out!

I was sure service would be slow and the food would take forever to get to our group of six, but I was wrong. My cousin's young daughter was getting cranky so our server made sure to bring her food out first. MVP status! I got the shepherds pie, my aunt got the fish and chips, and the others got different dishes. Everyone seemed happy with their food. I liked my pie. It was solid and I'd get it again. I docked one star only because I have a thing about crumbs in booth cracks and under tables. Let me emphasize how busy they were, and that this is something that has always bugged me at many restaurants. I understand if cleaning under tables wasn't a priority yesterday. With that being said, the floor under our table was filthy. I was seated in our booth closest to the wall and there were large crumbs between the wall and the booth. I kept a solid six inches between myself, my purse and jacket, and the crack. I didn't want anything of mine touching that area. My cousin's kid kept slipping under the table because that's what little kids do, and it took everything in me not to say "nooo it's so gross under there." Hopefully they're able to maintain a cleaner state on less hectic days!

Short story: inconsistent food, arrogant staff and poor hygiene makes me question the 4.6 rating…read more What started as a promising visit to a restaurant with a very nice looking bar quickly spiraled into one of the most disappointing meals I've had in DC or anywhere else. While the pimento tot appetizer was tasty (though smaller than pictured online) and the beer list was decent, the experience went downhill from there. My burger was overpowered by a cloying onion jam and the fries were overly salty. The real star of this horror meal, though, was my son's "Nashville" hot chicken. It was caked in a black, soggy layer of spice--completely different from the plates at other tables. When we told our server, he literally laughed and told us that's "how the chef learned to do it in Nashville" instead of offering a solution. To top it off, we waited nearly 15 minutes just to pay in a half-empty restaurant, and my son spotted a mouse scurrying across the restroom floor. Between the hygiene issues, the arrogant service, and the inedible main course, there are far better options in DC. I'd even opt for going hungry over eating here again. Avoid this place like the plague or you might end up with it.

Brunch cocktail prices were very reasonable, but the real star of the show was the food. The crab dip was SOOOO GOOD. It had plenty of crab in it, and it paired very well with the house made tater tots. The breakfast burrito was similarly amazing, I loved the layer of spinach in it and it was overall a very hearty meal.

Let's start with the Sunday Brunch…read more I defy anyone to find fault with that value. First round of mimosas is expensive but the next six rounds is cheeeeap. And the selection?!?! For under $70 two people can have crab cakes benedict, fried brussels, crispy French toast... I don't even remember. Like ten different things! I didn't have to eat again until 9pm. The food was great! Vinny, who was our handler (clearly he has training in special education or something because we that table. Or maybe the TIPS trainings have advanced to include messy brunch people) was fun, patient, and knowledgeable. This is THE SPOT for brunch on Sunday.

I visited Makers Union Pentagon City for a 4:45pm Thursday reservation for four. I arrived on time…read moreand was seated outside on the patio. Unfortunately, service started off on the wrong foot. There was a very large party already on the patio, and I was seated behind them. I waited about 12-15 minutes before the rest of my group arrived, but no server ever came by. We decided to head inside to get re‑seated, but couldn't find a hostess anywhere. We eventually flagged down a random server in the bar area and asked if a four‑top could be cleared so we could sit there instead. Thankfully, once we moved inside, everything improved dramatically. Service from that point on was attentive and friendly. The "Peoples Hour" menu was a highlight--great pricing without feeling "cheap." Appetizers were $6-10, cocktails $6-8, wines $6, and beers $6.50. The Down & Dirty (a vodka martini variation without vermouth) was solid, and the Out of the Office...Forever rum punch was decent. For food, we tried several items: - Makers Mini Nachos with steak -- Generous toppings but the chips got soggy quickly under all the queso, sour cream, and guac, which is not necessarily a bad thing. - Taco-bout Fish -- Crispy cod with a lemon aioli; one of the better bites of the night. - Drop It Like It's Hot -- Really good chicken tenders with a spicy Comeback sauce. - Lil B sliders -- Nicely cooked and not overdone; the Comeback sauce added a nice kick. The space has an upscale sports‑bar vibe with TVs above and around the bar. Seating can feel tight when it's busy, and the noise level definitely climbs, so keep that in mind if you're looking for a quieter meal. Despite the rocky start, the rest of the evening was enjoyable. Good food, great happy hour pricing, and solid service once we were settled inside. I'd return--just probably not to the patio during a big party.
