Overall, we had a nice experience here. Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and very knowledgeable, which made our first visit with friends enjoyable. The ambiance was beautiful and created a great atmosphere for dinner. Now for the food--the main reason for the visit. Unfortunately, it was a bit disappointing. Needed my hot sauce in my bag The biscuits were hard, and most of the dishes lacked flavor. On a positive note, the drinks were well made and satisfying. While the service and atmosphere were excellent, I hope the food improves because this place has a lot of potential.

Tupelo Honey is a southern style restaurant chain that serves comfort food in a casual setting. They recently refreshed their menu, and they have become one of my favorite casual lunch spots in Irving-Las Colinas. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Tupelo Honey is a stand-alone restaurant conveniently located near Hwy 114 and 161. There's plenty of parking, outdoor seating, and a mixture of tables, booths, and bar seating. Speaking of the bar, it acts as a beautiful backdrop for the entire restaurant. 1 Star. Service - The service is always friendly. Our server is always smiling, and I can't help but feel welcome with southern charm. Tupelo Honey trains its staff well, and I really enjoy coming here and interacting with the staff. 1 Star. Food - I always begin with the Biscuits with a Cause. These light, flakey biscuits are served warm with a crispy exterior and soft, flakey inside. But honestly, the biscuits act as a delivery mechanism for the butter and blue berry jam. I always ask for an extra side of butter and jam because I use it all. On my most recent visit, I ordered the Honey Dusted Fried Chicken (dark). The chicken was perfectly fried, crispy, and sweet. And the dark meat was juicy. Pro Tips - use your hands. Another great dish was experienced. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. I have yet to have a below average dish at Tupelo Honey. Yes, it's a chain. But it's also a darn good chain that keeps its menu fresh and is worth multiple visits. 1 Star.

This place is a little hidden but this does not stop the crowd from stopping by to eat. Super cute location, nicely decorated, and has a photo op. They did seem a little busy and I believe there may have been a shift change at some point. It took us 15 mins to get a table outside. I will add the wait time is the only bummer in my experience. It took a good minute to get our beverages and food. There was a crowd but it seemed to be in and out pretty quicky. The food was great! I ordered their sangria, very refreshing and not overly sweet. Southern shakshuka. $15.99 two eggs* baked in a tomato, spinach, & peperonata sauce, over stone-ground goat cheese grits, topped with basil (710 cal) - This combo was good, loved the creaminess and even had leftovers for the next day. Sweet & Spicy Fried Chicken & Waffles $16.99 Hand-breaded crispy chicken tenders drizzled with sriracha honey, served over golden buttermilk waffles. --enjoyed the Spiciness it truly was subtle but did grow as you continued to eat. The buttermilk Waffles were fluffy and light and full bite with the drizzled syrup was everything. Enjoyed the flavors of the whiskey flight and happy you have the flavor cards to be able to give the tasting a proper review. Over all price is average in comparison but the food quality is there so I have no issue spending an extra dollar or so. I would like to stop by again when it's less busy.

The food was pretty good! Went for a corporate dinner and they handled the big group pretty well. Loved that the server and chef refused to bring us out the fried pickles when they couldn't get batter to stick and only brought them out when they were perfect! Now THATS service. They also had great recs when some of my coworkers were indecisive

Warm and welcoming staff! Michael's service today was excellent, mindful and courteous check-ins. We ordered the half chicken which probably explains the longer than usual wait for food to arrive. It was definitely savory spicy and tasty but it did arrive lukewarm as did the soup on his plate, our neighboring guests arrived much later than us, received their meals and finished before we even got ours on the table...so not sure what happened there with orders coming out of the kitchen. The omelet was perfect...beautiful fresh vegetables inside a pocket of hot scramble, with the Parmesan potatoes I chose for the side, it was delicious. Will gladly come back for something new to try

This is my first time going to the Irving location and it was the perfect spot for a group lunch! We got biscuits, fried green tomatoes and a half order of fried chicken as starters. The biscuits hit the spot and the jam and butter that it comes with is so delicious, no notes!! For our meal, my entire table got the flat iron steak and it comes with two sides. I got a soup and a salad but you can choose from Mac and cheese, other standard southern comfort sides. They also had a full bar great beer menu and even had coffee options. The blueberry cold brew was so good I would come back just for that cold brew. The food hit the spot, especially if you're craving some comfort food.

I went here with a friend for lunch and we had a wonderful experience. The restaurant is decorated in very good taste. We had great service. I got the chicken sandwich with onion rings and I have no complaints at all. I also believe it was a very good price point. I would definitely come back again!

Met at Tupelo Honey with a couple of friends for lunch. The food was great! I only managed to get a picture of the fried okra, but I also ordered the fried green tomatoes and the half sandwich lunch special with tomato soup, with a sweet tea to drink. All really delicious! There are lots of great options on the menu for both food and drinks. I have been to both locations by this point, and it was consistently good. I'll be eager to go back and order different items to try!

Stopped here for a late brunch. No wait and not completely full on a Sunday late morning. The service was pretty slow. It seemed like the staff was crawling at a snails pace. We finally got an order in and started with the fried green tomatoes. They were pretty good and liked the super crispy outside. I had the shrimp and grits and it was good but so rich. I could only eat half of it. That seemed to the theme for our brunch. The food was very rich and hard to eat it all. The taste was good but whatever they used in the dishes was extremely rich. Ok good but probably won't come back.

FANTASTIC HAPPY HOUR SELECTION AND PRICES ! Happy hour here for the win, seriously! I had been to a Yelp event at this spot before, but my husband and I are always on the hunt for solid and affordable happy hour deals. This place was absolutely worth checking out. They offer a great selection of happy hour appetizers, but the real surprise was their happy hour entrées for just $12.95. There were about 10-12 options, and each comes with a side (about 7 choices). Score. We started with the fried green tomatoes, served on a creamy grit-meets-risotto base that was unexpectedly exceptional. Then we shared the happy hour entrée of cast iron pork with a side of Asian-style Brussels sprouts. To be fair, the sprouts would probably shine more in the winter when they're smaller and sweeter, but the pork was fantastic. Crispy and juicy bites all around. A couple of warm tortillas on the side would make that dish even better. We will definitely be back. The cocktails during happy hour are a steal at just $5 each. Great food, great value, and a great vibe.

I came to Tupelo Honey with trust issues. I've been burned by restaurants that look amazing online and then serve food with the emotional depth of drywall. Tupelo Honey chose violence against my skepticism. First off... $20 mimosa flights. Whoever signed off on that deserves a raise and a hug. By the time I got there around 4, brunch had cleared out, so I figured I'd have a quiet beer and disappear into the background. Instead, Fred behind the bar decided my afternoon was now his personal mission. That man could probably convince a vegan to order ribs. He talked me into the smothered chicken, which I was convinced I wouldn't like. Turns out my taste buds filed a formal complaint because they wanted more. The shrimp and grits are still the heavyweight champion of the menu. If you're ordering them, do yourself a favor and add the waffle. That's not a meal--that's therapy. The beers on tap? Solid. The espresso martini? Better than the life decisions that brought me there. Tupelo Honey somehow manages to feel like Southern comfort food made by people who actually care whether you come back. Between the food, the drinks, and Fred making me feel like I'd been a regular for ten years, I left happier than I arrived. I'd absolutely come back. Also... somebody protect Fred. If another restaurant steals him, we're going to have to open an investigation.

My husband and I met up with some friends at Tupelo Honey! I've actually heard a lot of good things about this restaurant from my FIL and colleagues in NC! I forgot we had one so close to us here in DFW! Ambiance: Beautiful interiors! Very spacious, bright, and welcoming! Service: Friendly service, but wasn't all that quick. The food makes up for this! Food: if you love southern cuisine, Tupelo Honey is the place to try! Appetizer- Fried Pickles. The fried pickles thinly sliced and are lightly battered. Very different from what you get at a State/County fair. I love the tanginess of the pickles! Entree- I ordered their fried chicken with a side of goat cheese grits (the meal comes with 1 choice of sides). The fried chicken (ordered dark meat) was plenty of good! It had 2 pieces of meaty chicken, seasoned to perfection! Very flavorful and very juicy. The goat cheese grits were smooth and homey. Drink- Matcha honey latte was great!

Recently, I had lunch here, and they now have a new farm to table menu that really exceeded my expectations. The Ranch has reinvented itself many times, and now it's a restaurant I would visit for the food AND atmosphere. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - At its core, it's a bar with several indoor and outdoor dining areas with a country theme. The Ranch is so versatile that you can host a private event while people dine in the main area while others hang out at the bar. There's also a charming outdoor area that is nice if the weather is cool. Best of all - it's full of people and energy. 1 Star. Service - Our server was great. We explained the concept, went over the menu, and while a large table occupied his time, several of the staff were helpful. Everyone was dressed in Cowboy/Ranch gear. Texas Southern Hospitality is real. 1 Star. Food - My most recent visit was like visiting a new restaurant. The Ranch's menu has changed, and everything was new. I started with the pork belly appetizers, which was a great start to meal. The tender pork meat had a layer of sweet + salty belly that melts in your mouth. I went with the Barbacoa Grilled Cheese that was one of the best I've ever had. The barbacoa (shredded BBQ beef) was the star and was better than any brisket grilled cheese I've had. The sourdough was grilled with lots of butter, so after devouring the sandwich I had to wash my hands. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Absolutely. I had been to The Ranch so many times I considered a place to gather for Happy Hour. Not anymore. The new menu is incredible, and I can't wait to return. 1 Star.

The food also came out incredibly fast and piping hot, which is becoming rare these days. We started with the cornbread, and it was easily a 10/10. It was worth every bit of the $12. We ordered the fried chicken, greens, shrimp fried rice, biscuits, and hot water cornbread. The fried chicken was crispy and tender, but it lacked seasoning. I'd give it a 7/10. They served it with a house hot sauce, but surprisingly it had no heat and almost no flavor. I even asked the person I was dining with if they tasted anything because it was like pouring sauce on the chicken without changing the flavor at all. The greens were just okay on their own, but once we added the vinegar they became amazing. That made me wonder why the vinegar isn't incorporated into the greens from the start. The hot water cornbread had virtually no flavor. The shrimp fried rice was cooked really well, but it had an unexpected Caribbean-style seasoning that threw me off. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I was expecting, and it made it hard to fully enjoy. The biscuits were probably the biggest disappointment. They were dry and hard. One thing I also noticed is that, for a family style restaurant where you're encouraged to order several dishes to share, the tables feel too small. Once all the food arrived, there wasn't much room left, and even packing up our leftovers was awkward because of the lack of space. One standout that deserves recognition was the iced tea. It had what tasted like a subtle hint of mint and was incredibly refreshing. Easy 10/10. From the cuts of chicken we received, it appears they break down and fry whole chickens, which is perfectly fine. However, at $56 for a fried chicken that lacked seasoning, I found the price hard to justify. Maybe the cooking method or oil contributes to the cost, but I expected much more flavor for that price. Overall, I'd rate my experience a 7.5/10. Would I come back? Yes. I'd be willing to give Roots another chance and try something different from the menu. But when I hear Southern food, I expect bold seasoning and comforting flavors, and that's the one area where this meal really fell short.
