As a child of divorce, passing up this restaurant is an unforgivable paternal transgression. Dad's Dog & Burger is an intimate hole-in-the-wall with three four-top booths and 6 barstools, leaving the max occupancy pretty cozy, here. But the formula works out. 1. Place your order at the register 2. Wait very briefly 3. See God 4. Leave These made-to-order mustard-smashed burgers are perfectly seasoned, covered in melty American cheese, deeply caramelized onions, special sauce, and whatever else you like, and nestled between perfectly toasted, soft buns. Tucked lovingly into a paper wrap and buddied up with the perfectly cooked side of your choice, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better burger made this way. Long story short, the price is right, the staff is friendly, the place is cozy, and the food is good enough to eat two days in a row (true story). I'm so glad dad finally came home from going out for cigs so he could open up the best burger joint in Pittsburgh.

I went and got a burger and the onion rings!! Both were good and classics you can't go wrong with. I need to go back and try the hot dog and fries.

Order at the counter style diner. The staff running it were cheerful and helpfully answered the couple questions I had. Onion rings were a star. I also think they make their own ranch because it was especially good. Burgers tasted the way I was craving-awesome.

Staff was SUPER friendly. Service was reasonably timed. I went in peak lunch time and only waited 8 mins for everything. Inside is a little small so if you want to dine in you might want to go at an off time to get a seat. Burgers have perfect amount of sauce and toppings. They give you a ton of fries. The milkshake tasted so fresh and like I was eating real strawberries. 100% recommend!

Sometimes in life the best things are the most simple. Dad's does an incredible job of creating a no frills burger that knocks it out of the park. The menu is reasonably priced and service is really fast. I truly love that you can get counter service and watch everything happen behind the scenes. This burger is the closest I've had to In-and-Out on the east coast and that is a high compliment coming from me.

My wife and I went to Dad's Dog & Burger for diner. The place is very small with very limited seating. I ordered a hamburger and my wife and I shared fries and onion rings. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food came out pretty quick. The hamburger was really good and so was the fries. I did not care for the onion rings. I would definitely recommend this place. I would also go again in the future.

Anyone who has ever dogged this place (pun intended) is just a hater and hates whimsy and joy. Really great food. Wonderful employees. Everything was great!! Burgers were the perfect smash burgers, fries are a McDonald's dupe (complimentary) onions rings were absolutely bussin. Small but super cute inside and gives major throwback vibes. I love dads dog & burger!!

We loved visiting dad's dog and burger! The fries, burger and hot dog were great on a cold day. The place had enough seating and rotated tables quickly with quick cooking times. The portions were large and the atmosphere was fun within the place. Staff was super nice and we will definitely be back!

I recently met a friend here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. We arrived around 1:30 pm to try to avoid the lunch rush since the space is small. When we arrived, a booth opened up so it was good timing. You place your order at the counter and then your food/drinks are brought to you. I ordered a hot dog with cheese, ketchup, and pickles. I also ordered a side of fries and a vanilla milkshake. The food came out quickly. The kitchen/grill is out in the open so you can see your food being prepared. Overall, my food was good. It tasted like a nostalgic old school diner, which I liked! The staff were all so so sweet. They also have complimentary match books and stickers which is a fun touch. Overall, I'm glad to have Dad's in the city and I'll def be back to try some other offerings.

The new girls brunch? We set out for bagels, but found something better! Dogs and Burgers at @dadspgh! Located in Bloomfield, this diner spot is grilling up some of everyone's faves. Decorated with corky trinkets and yinzer memorabilia it was just what the doctor ordered after a girls night at the speakeasy. The burgers were smashing and honestly some of the best onion rings I've ever had. The ones that don't shed their deep fried skin so every bite is in tact and packed with flavor. Get that grub.

What a great addition to Bloomfield! Being inside Dads, a tiny, old school burger and dog spot, makes you feel like you're not in the city, but at a small town dive. Prices reflect that feeling too. All of the employees were super nice, trying to make connections with anyone who walked in. It's small and gets busy, but they seem to be managing well. Food was tasty, definitely scratched an itch for a simple cheeseburger and fries. I highly recommend the onion rings, maybe my favorite thing out of what we ordered. We'll be back soon.

I wish I would've tried this spot sooner! They just recently adjusted their hours and are now open til 6 pm! I arrived around 4:30 pm on Thursday and it wasn't too busy! It is a small space so seating is limited, but we were able to snag a table! We got two double cheeseburgers, shared a hot dog and onion rings, and I got a strawberry milkshake. Everything was amazing! We were too full and couldn't finish the onion rings, so when we asked for a bag to-go, they also topped off our ranch, which was a pleasant surprise! This will definitely be my new go-to for a fast diner meal. It has a classic diner feel and the staff are so friendly! We met Dad himself and he praised his daughter for all she's done for the diner!

Dad's has menu items that are just simple ingredients done really well. Their burgers / sauce reminds me of In-N-Out but Dad's has much better quality meat. Food takes about ten minutes and just fyi there's a 50¢ charge for using credit card instead of cash.

The Speckled Egg provided the upscale and elevated breakfast, that was a nice contrast to the rustic and local breakfast we had the next day. Our waitress was friendly and professional. After some deliberation, I went with a bowl that included eggs, chicken sausage, sweet potatoes and a nice garnish of dill. The dill surprisingly elevated the whole dish. My wife enjoyed an omelette. He was courteous, well spoken and friendly. We sat there for about 10-12 minutes. No one approached the table. We looked over to what appeared to be a bar area and we saw two servers standing there talking and showing each other their phones. My wife said, "With our luck, one of those two is our server." Sure enough, when they were finally done talking, one came over to our table....no smile and a big audible sigh. She asked what we wanted to drink, we gave our order and she returned with our beverages. After another 10 minute wait she came back to take our order. When asked about a certain dish, came another big sigh, eye roll and and a rote description of said dish. The food arrived and one of the orders was wrong. Another wait to get her attention. We asked for the item to be redone as we had ordered it. And she even asked how we wanted it! You got it...another eye roll and a big sigh. At least she was well oxygenated! The dish came back with the very same results. On that issue we gave up. Then came the wait for the check. Once again the two servers were chatting, no heads turned to check on their tables. My son went over to get the check. When the check arrived, it was attitude city. She accused us of picking on her because she was only a server. It's obviously how she saw herself. We then asked for the manager who was quick to side with the server. She said that nothing seemed to satisfy us and that we had a problem. IN SHARP CONTRAST. I have been to the Speckled Egg on the South Side many times. From the Host/Hostess to the servers to the bus staff, everyone had a smile, chatted with their customers, laughed and it was always a great experience. The manager came over since he recognized me from being there many times and we chatted for a minute. We are talking Night and Day. Completely two different experiences from server to management styles. To me there is only one Speckled Egg and one complete waste of time (Downtown).

She appeared overwhelmed by her role and was not warm. We were actually told by the waiters that "she is serious about her list". Which would be great if she managed it effectively. When I brought concerns that we had been pushed down the list 3 times for other parties. She responded "well, how do you know that" to which I responded "we watched you take their names down after ours and sit them before us".
