    Grilled Chicken Sandwich
    Anna N.

A cute corner restaurant. Came in around noon, and it was empty. Service is a bit slow, but food made up for it. The fried Brussels sprouts were recommended by our waitress. They're good, fried and tossed in a sweet chili sauce. I got the grilled chicken sandwich, pretty good, but I liked the fries better.

We had reservations for a Mother's Day brunch at cornerstone. We were the first ones at the restaurant, seated by ourselves for a few minutes. We sat in the back room, which had a beautiful ceiling and lit tables. The bar area has a unique brick wall. There are tables out front for al fresco dining. There is a kids menu with the normal offerings like grilled cheese, but also includes a few specialties like a kid's salmon. The tables have linens but were also covered with paper - which the waitress suggested the kids color on it directly! They loved that, it was a giant canvas. It was a good experience. The service was friendly and accurate, but even the drinks were slow to come out. I'm not sure if there are better parking options, but everything we saw nearby was street/permit only. We used the metered lot about a block away, which was fine given the good weather, but I would be apprehensive if you have mobility concerns or snow/rain.

4/25/25 Ate List: Spicy Thai Coconut Curry Mussels - 8.6 This spot is great. Service, atmosphere, all wonderful. Feels quaint and homey. These mussels were a gamble, but a truly amazing one at that. SO SO good. Flavors were amazing, a little kick but not overwhelming. Perfectly balanced with the Mussels that weren't over cooked. Absolutley delicious. My cocktail - The White Lotus was quite tasty as well.

My friends and I came here on Wednesday night. It wasn't too crowded, but there were a few tables with people. Our waitress was really nice, however also extremely forgetful. We had to ask her for drinks multiple times before she finally remembered to bring it. As far as the food goes, my burger was good. I ordered it medium and it was cooked perfectly medium. The fries were soggy though. One of my friends ordered the gnocchi and received pappardelle instead. The bus boy went to get our waitress, but she forgot to come over. We waited about 10 mins before we were able to get her attention from helping another table. The manager eventually came over to let us know that the menu had changed. He remedied the situation by heating up the meal and removing the charge. Overall, it was a very "meh" experience.

My husband, my son and I went to cornerstone for dinner last night. It was absolutely amazing. The food, the staff and being able to sit outside was really awesome. The food was fresh and you can tell the pasta homemade. My husband had a Pittsburgh ale and I had two dirty martinis. The martinis were perfect. I would've liked a stuffed Olive of instead, but that is just my preference! The Martini was absolutely perfect. My husband enjoyed his beer as well. We each had a dish. My husband had the Dr. Bob's burger, which is a hamburger with brisket and he said it was delicious. I had the cavatelli with cannellini beans, Frankie's hot sausage; this was so good and the portion is large! The food is really good. Hopefully next time I can stick around for dessert. But also a great menu. Definitely will be returning!

Came here with my mom for an afternoon brunch - booked on open table. I had the west coast Benny and my mom had the Niçoise salad. West Coast Benny was served with a side of fruit. However, per the menu the side should be home fries. Outdoor patio seating with a covered porch.

We got a gift card for Cornerstone, so we tried it for dinner tonight. It was a pleasant surprise. Although I am very focused on the Pittsburgh restaurant scene, I never heard of the place. It's a local bar/restaurant, nicely decorated, with a big bar and small dining room. The menu is hard to categorize, with a bunch of apps of various types, a good variety of entrees, and multiple sandwiches. We just had the duck confit steamed buns and a side of fries. We started with martinis followed by glasses of white wine. The by the glass list was diverse and fairly priced. We didn't look at it bottle list, if there was one. Overall a good experience but a long trip for us.

Brussels sprouts and lamb meatballs with pita
    Kristen E.

White-table cloth establishment for an upscale meal inside or outside. The food was good: one lamb burger (because the brisket wasn't available), the Brussels sprouts, and the lamb meatballs. I would have appreciated more of the spread, because otherwise the pita was warm but dry. I had enough food from the two appetizers for two meals. The cucumber gimlet was fine, but service was a little spotty, and our lunch took over an hour, although the restaurant was not particularly busy on a weekday.

ABSOLUTE PERFECTION FROM START TO FINISH 10/10!…read more Perfection. Everything about Talbots is absolute perfection. I eat A LOT of food, and one common denominator I see among top-tier restaurants is that the owners and management are a direct reflection of the overall experience, quality, and taste. Talbots is no different. We felt right at home from the moment we walked in. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly, like lifetime friends. Our waitress, Teresa, was fantastic. She passed all the vibe checks and matched our energy immediately, all the signs of a veteran server you want guiding you through one of the best eating experiences of your life. She gave us her recommendations and left us to decide. We knew we were here for the #hashtagyouwont 36oz ribeyes, but we wanted to see what else was recommended since everything looked and sounded amazing. We decided to order a lot of food, almost everything that was recommended. This will be a bit of a long-winded review, but I'm sure the true foodies will appreciate it, so here we go: THE APPETIZERS The Brie: How can brie be so good that it deserves to be talked about first? I have no idea, but it was excellent. The strawberry-jalapeño jam, brie, candied pecans, baby naan, and fruit just worked so well together. An absolute hit. Pork Cheek Tacos: These melted in your mouth and exploded with flavor. They were also a really decent size, we were expecting little bite-sized tacos on a dumpling wrapper, but got two substantial tacos instead which was a pleasant surprise. Naan Bombs: Flat out delicious, and there were enough in the serving for everyone to have a few. Duck Wontons: So unique and flavorful. These were like little empanada explosions of flavor. THE MAIN EVENT: THE 36OZ RIBEYE When I tell you this was a perfect steak, this was a perfect steak. Cooked medium rare, oozing with flavor, and charred to absolute perfection on the outside. That is no easy feat with a cut this size, but somehow Talbot and crew made it seem like a walk in the park. Hidden under the steak, soaking up all the juices, are the house cut fries. I forgot they were even there because of the sheer size of the meat! By the time I discovered them, they were soaked with steak juice, but somehow remained crispy and soggy at the same time. It was brilliant, the fries almost had a poutine like aspect to them. Magnificent, completely unique, and made so much sense. As for the side of corn salad.... absolutely mind blowing. It just looked like corn with some sauce on it, nothing special at all. I am so sorry I underestimated you, Mr. Corn Salad. My God, this stuff was amazing. It didn't make sense to me, but I didn't care, I just kept shoveling it into my mouth. DESSERT We saved room for dessert (of course) and got three: The Chocolate Cake: A plate of pure, chocolaty goodness. Pecan Sweet Potato Pie: Spectacular. Coconut Cream Cheesecake: Wow. I am a sucker for coconut and cream cheese anything, and this checked every single box. THE VERDICT Throughout the night, we watched Talbot go up to each table to check in on everyone, and the chef even came out to talk to us. It was an absolute perfect meal top to bottom, start to finish. You can tell how much this entire establishment cares about what they do, and it is a direct reflection on the food. It's not often I can say a meal is flawless, so I have to give them their flowers in a long well deserved review. Five stars, two thumbs up, and a standing ovation for Talbots Taproom. P.s. Extra kudos for all the cool art and overall atmosphere. There is a ton of stuff to do outside as well but we were there on a chilly night so remained inside. We saw a patio, disc golf, and all sorts of other activities, even a tree house. We can't wait to make the hour trip again and enjoy all they have to offer once summer is in full swing!

Steak was well seasoned and cooked properly. I had the Asian BBQ, Nobody Likes a Party Pooper. Everything tasted pretty good but was all cool. NOTHING came out hot. Excellent Food in a Family-Owned Spot, But Transparency, Noise, and a Few Service Touches Need…read morePolishing (4/5 Overall)** I visited Wexford Public (12087 Perry Hwy, Wexford, PA) recently for dinner with my family, drawn by its reputation as a locally owned, chef-driven American restaurant in the heart of Wexford. Owned by longtime locals John and Melanie Dober, it positions itself as a warm, community-focused spot blending upscale comfort food with a welcoming vibe--think handcrafted sandwiches, premium Black Angus steaks, fresh seafood, flatbreads, and daily specials, all with thoughtful wine and bourbon selections. We were excited for what promised to be a polished neighborhood gem, and in many ways, it delivered. The food was genuinely great and the clear highlight. Our dishes were flavorful, well-executed, and creative without being fussy--fresh ingredients shone through, portions were generous, and everything arrived hot and beautifully plated. It's easy to see why so many reviewers rave about the crab cakes, steaks, and chef specials; the kitchen clearly knows what it's doing. This is elevated American fare that feels special yet approachable, and we'd happily return just for the meals. That said, a few aspects fell short and left us feeling the overall experience wasn't quite as seamless as the food deserved. First and foremost, the billing transparency issue was disappointing. They add a 3% bank/credit card processing fee to the check (which adds up quickly on a family dinner), but this isn't disclosed on the menu, at the table, or in any obvious way during the ordering process. There's only a small sign posted outside the restaurant. We only noticed it when the bill arrived, and it felt like an afterthought rather than a clear policy. In an era where many restaurants are upfront about surcharges (or absorb them), this lack of disclosure came across as sneaky and detracted from the otherwise positive value perception. The atmosphere was another mixed bag. The space itself is attractive--soft lighting, comfortable seating, and that friendly "upscale brew pub" energy the owners aim for. However, it was noticeably noisy during our evening visit. Conversations required raised voices, especially as the dining room filled up, which made it hard to relax and enjoy the meal fully. OpenTable rates the noise as "moderate," but on our night it tipped louder than that, possibly due to the layout or lack of sufficient sound absorption. A bit more attention to acoustics could make a big difference. Service was mostly attentive and efficient, but the management interaction stood out in a negative way. When we politely mentioned the surprise fee at the end of the meal, the response was an apology that felt scripted and insincere--like it had been delivered many times before without real follow-through or ownership. It didn't leave us feeling heard or valued as guests. On a brighter note, the owners John and Melanie genuinely come across as lovely people. The restaurant has that personal, homegrown touch you can sense even when they're not physically present, and locals speak highly of them. They were absent during our nighttime visit, though, which is understandable for owners juggling a busy operation--but their warmth is missed when the front-of-house team is handling everything solo. In summary, Wexford Public excels where it matters most: the food is consistently excellent and worth the trip on its own. The family-owned charm and diverse menu make it a strong neighborhood choice for special occasions, casual dinners, or even happy hour in the cocktail bar. However, clearer communication about the credit card fee (ideally on the menu or bill upfront), better noise management, and more authentic handling of guest concerns would elevate it from very good to outstanding. We'll likely go back for the cuisine, but with tempered expectations on the finer details. If you're in the Wexford area and prioritize great American plates, it's still a solid recommendation--just check the small print before you pay.
