The "Contempt of Court" interactive play including dinner was the worst thing I've ever seen. Went with 7 other people and we all walked out after the first act. Calling dinner food is a stretch, it was microwaved spongy chicken with mixed veggies that were cold and hard and we didn't even receive our dessert. The acting in the show was at the high school level at best and the interaction is you fill out a form circling whether you think the person on trial is guilty or not. We've been to many shows at the Tupelo and this does not measure up to their standards. this was most definitely not worth the $45. I'd give the show a "no star" if I could read more

Went first to see Jesse Colin Young . Loved it. I am a huge Tom Petty fan and was so sad that he left this world that I could not listen to his wonderful music . I then went to see Damn the Torpedoes (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers cover band) and expected them to be bad but they were great and I am now listening to Tom again. I also purchased a ticket to their next show March 1st. Just saw Peter Noone (Herman's Hermits) and had a blast. The venue is excellent. The folks who work there are nice. read more

My fiance and I love this place. We saw Y&T here 3 times in 2 years. At their show on March 6th 2016 I proposed to my future wife. So Tupelo will always hold a special place in our hearts and memories. The staff is fantastic, very friendly.. That being said we can't wait to see Y&T in the new venue in 2017. read more

This is a mixture of two reviews. I went to the Blue Oyster Cult show just about when they opened. The sound was amazing, and the band was awesome (as always), but that was it for me. The line of sight from the second level was horrible because of the counter seats in front of us. I had to keep looking around people. The seats were tight and uncomfortable. I had a 10-year-old next to me, and I was still half off of my seat. And I had to double park because the parking was horrible (I hear they have a little more parking now, but you also have a long walk from across the street, if need be). My wife went to see The Alarm not too long ago. She had floor seats, so she could see the show okay. She enjoyed her show much more than I did, but she admitted that the old place was better. She's a smaller person, so the seats weren't as uncomfortable for her. Both of us agree that the old venue was MUCH better. It was intimate, and had an awesome feel. The original venue was about the music, as they advertised. IMHO (I am not speaking for my wife), the new place is not about the music, but rather about how many more people you can fit in. There is no longer any charm for me going to a Tupelo show. It's better than a lot of venues, so if you never experienced the original venue, you'll probably be okay with this place. Me? I was fortunate to experience a wonderful first Tupelo venue, and I will not be going again because of the downgrade. It's actually insulting. In closing, if you've never been to the original venue, you'll probably be okay with this one, but it is not a good experience if you're not on the floor. As a footnote, I did not bother with food or beer, or the bathroom, so I cannot comment on that. read more

The Tupelo Music Hall is the best music venue I have ever been to......the ownership is outstanding, ethical and really cares about bringing quality music to the southern NH and north of Boston area. I rely on them for just about all of my live music, so not sure what I would ever do without this cozy and relatively small venue. read more

I have been to the old Tupelo many, many times. I've been to the new Tupelo a few times, and honestly I don't think I'll go back. I was in the front row for a show, and literally every other person had to sit forward in their seat because the space was too narrow to fit everyone shoulder to shoulder. Since I was the one sitting forward between two men, it got really uncomfortable really quickly. The next show I went to we were on the aisle, so I was able to lean left a little into the aisle for extra space, but still very uncomfortable. Looking around, I don't see a space that I think would be more suitable. Taking out just two chairs per row would probably be enough to make it bearable, but as is, I'd have to REALLY want to see a band to put myself through that again. read more

Please note that Tupelo relocated to a brand new space in Derry. And what a space it is! Entering from the nondescript front door you walk into a beautiful, expansive lobby; here you'll find the large, long bar stocked with selections for just about all tastes (menus on website); also in the lobby are windows for food service (haven't eaten there yet), several free standing pub tables, and a merchandise area. Bathrooms (gleaming new and spotless) are accessed off the lobby as well. Walk straight ahead and enter the music hall. There is seating on three levels; the back of the hall has 7 or so rows of ascending movie theater style seating (padded, roomy, with cup holders on the back); the front of the middle level has counter seats along the front and down the left side; since there are different show set ups, the middle and lower sections have either rows of chairs, round tables with chairs, or a combination of the two. The seating set-up for each show is clearly displayed when you go to purchase tickets. Row seating is comparable with the old venue. The large stage is elevated, but If you're vertically challenged like me and want to ensure a clear view to the artist, I'd suggest counter seating or the stadium seating in the rear. The sound system and lighting are top-notch! Whether acoustic or full on electric, the sound is crisp and clear. Check out the list of artists scheduled! Always an eclectic mix with something for everyone. So happy to have Tupelo in my backyard. Beautiful venue, great artists, terrific staff, and FREE parking. What are you waiting for? read more

I went here last night for the first time, I've wanted to go for years. (People I went with have been many times) I'm basing this on the comedy show, I haven't see a music performance yet. We were up in the stadium seating, were very comfy. We were third row from the back wall and I found them very good seats/view of the stage. Hate to spoil the party but this place just isn't ready for prime time. Great sized place, but the seating arrangement and BYOB policy has to be updated. First, the seating: I was in row "H." Now the seat rows are designated by a piece of masking tape affixed the last chair on the aisle. Kind of amateur. Now the chairs are a mishmash of hardwood chairs, metal chairs with padding and some folding chairs. Not a big deal except for the fact that the padded metal chairs are about 2" lower than the wooden chairs, and get this... they put the taller chairs in front. So if you are unlucky enough to get assigned a metal chair you have a 2" disadvantage. And if you are under 6' (like most women) and you get one of the shorter chairs, you have a very slim chance to see the act on stage. My wife had one of the shorter chairs. I had to crane my neck to see the performance all night and my wife saw nothing. I am over 6 foot. Simple, temporary solution would be to put the shorter chairs in the front most rows. Duh. More on the chairs... The hardwood chairs are just that, hard wood. If you plan to stay for a show longer than 30 min expect a very uncomfortable show. My butt was numb. I also have to mention the BYOB policy. This is a very small venue. You can hear everything. I mean everything. And you can count on people bringing in all kinds of glass bottles filled with their beer, wine, etc. which is fine, except for the hard, concrete floor. So you get all kinds of people dropping cups, knocking over beer bottles, putting wine bottles down. During the show last night, Colin Hay was interrupted, and reacted to several people doing just that. He was ticked off and he let the patrons know of his displeasure with several pauses and priceless scowls of displeasure. Tupelo, you guys have something special just waiting to happen up there in Londonderry, you just need the right person working there to make some decisions, look the place over and make some serious changes. Once those changes are made I will come back. Until then, I will have to check the tour dates and catch an earlier or later show for the act I am looking to attend. read more

We've been to Tupelo twice now and have tickets for a 3rd show in April. Since our first visit, they've remodeled and the place looks great. The sound here is fantastic (gets a thumbs up from my husband who's a serious audiophile), they get well-known musicians in & parking is easy. There's a bar (?) downstairs (it was closed when we arrived @ 8 pm) and an assortment of light meals (salads, soups or chilis, nachos, sandwiches), desserts and beverages are available at performances. You can bring in your own beer and wine. If the review ended there, I would have given it at least 4 stars. The downside: The first show we had seats about 5 rows from the stage and we found the sound very good, if a bit loud. The band playing was not a sleepy lounge act, so I should have realized this ahead of time. Next time we see a loud band we'll get seats nearer the back of the room. The seating is an issue. The chairs in the front half of the room are a bit taller than the ones in the back half. Does this make sense? The floor is flat and the stage isn't very elevated, so it's likely you won't see the musicians if you're further back than row 10, or not on the aisle. The chairs in the front half of the room are solid wood, and within 40 minutes my husband was shifting around trying get more comfortable. I had heard about the hard chairs, brought a seat cushion and glad I did. (husband thought he'd be fine without one) If your tickets are for the back half of the venue, those seats are padded metal chairs. They're narrower than the wooden chairs and you're very much shoulder-to-shoulder in those seats. There was no problem with the room temp on our first visit (Nov. 2013), but last night's show was *unbearable*. I'm someone who doesn't mind being on the warm side, but after taking off my sweater, it seemed to only get warmer and to make it worse, there was absolutely NO air circulation. About 3/4 of way through the concert, I couldn't bear it any longer and left to go out to the entry area. The fresh, cool air outside the hall was such a relief! I asked one of the people working there about the heat and they said the fans should be going, which they weren't. When I brought that to his attention, his reply was, "sometimes the fans just make it hotter". So let me get this straight....you shut 400 people into a room and don't plan to have any air circulating - for 2 hours? I was annoyed by the shrug-off received from the employee at how uncomfortable it was inside the hall, and he appeared to have no intention to try and make things better, or to find someone who could. After 10 minutes outside, I went back into the concert and spoke to another employee who was at the top of the stairs. I mentioned the heat to her and she agreed it was very warm. I asked her if the concert was almost over, and she thought it was close. The heat & humidity were too much, and I went back to the cool entry way. I was disappointed I missed the last 25 minutes of the concert. When the music ended and the first people started coming out, I made my way back in to get my husband and coat. It had to be close to 80º in that room (if not more) and the humidity made it feel hotter. I've read reviews previously that have mentioned a problem with it being too hot here and last night was one of those nights, despite it being 28º outside. I'm feeling a bit apprehensive about our April tickets but will go armed with my seat cushion, ear plugs and something summery to wear. If anyone from Tupelo reads this review, PLEASE - address the air circulation problem! You're going to lose customers if you don't address the serious heat issue in the hall during concerts. I'll update my post after our April concert and hope the heat situation has been addressed by then. If it hasn't, I doubt we'll go back. A shame, as this is a great place to see and hear top music acts. read more

This place sucks. I don't understand how anyone not getting paid to do so would rate this place with 5 stars. As many others have stated, it incredibly hot in there. Maria Muldaur had sweat literally pouring off her forehead. BYOB, and a beer & wine store downstairs THAT SHUTS DOWN around 8pm. And top that with the inside beverages, water, tea, soda, etc, were not being sold by the time we got there. Good luck finding the place if you've never been there before. And good luck with parking. We were seated up against the wall, and there was aisle in front of our table that the staff constantly paced during the whole show. Just saw a Christmas show there tonight. Wizards of Winter. Awesome show! We always went to the Tupelo in Londonderry and really enjoyed it. Very disappointed tonight though. Our mixed drinks, Vodka and water and Jamison and ginger were $10.75 each! Really?!?! We are not In Boston. Our sears were ok but the lights were blinding us. We left early. Extremely disappointed. We went for a comedy night for a fun night just to get out with friends and try something different. I have worked at a large entertainment venue and this place is a gem. It is small and intimate. Our seats were comfy, the bar staff was super pleasant and accommodating. The pricing was great and based on their calendar they get some big-time names and you don't have to battle "Boston" traffic to see them! Granted it wasn't a music event but I think this place is just the right size so that you can really hear the music, the lyrics, the artist's vibe. It feels like they're playing for YOU. The artists seemed relaxed, happy to be there, and they let you into their world. They told personal stories between a joke or two - and we got to know their personality. Had a great time and will be back again in June for Big Bad Voo Doo Daddy with 8 of our friends! read more

Great venue whether set up as tables or rows. Acoustics are very good. Wear jeans and bring a hoodie because the air conditioning system is set to about 50 degrees with fans blowing at 50 miles a hour! It does make you get up and dance to not drop into hypothermia. read more

First off I'd like to say that the Tupelo does well at obtaining great performers whether it be music or comedy. Unfortunately that is their best quality. Who ever is responsible for the design of the seating should be fired. Unless you are in lower level you will struggle to see the show as you should. The stage is lower as it should be but the whole middle section of seating is on same plane with no elevation to the seat in front of you. This along with the stage being lower makes a night of bobbing your head around to get a glimpse of what is going on. The upper level has stepped seating but again the stage is lower than the flat middle section so not ideal. The biggest issue along with the seating is the fact that you need to love driving at night with the people coming at you blinding you with their high beams. The stage lights have a whole section on both sides that constantly blare directly into the eyes of the audience. I mean it is unbelievable to think anyone would want to endure an evening of that, totally ruins the experience no matter how good show is. Einsteins, the lights should be on the performers! So, I have been to a few shows there, (three), and each time with the seating and lighting along with a few other things...lack of parking, bathroom loads ect. I can officially say I will not be back. Unfortunate due to performers, but it is what it is. read more

I recently attended a Paula Poundstone show here. She was great, as always, but I will never go back to this venue. The seating is so cramped. It reminded me of being in a middle seat on an airplane, only with no armrest. I did not care for being smashed up against a stranger. Secondly, only 2 toilets for a couple hundred people? Seriously? I waited in that line before the show, and then decided against consuming any alcohol or water. Lastly, it was a really hot, humid (rainy) night. I saw a ceiling fan above going full tilt, but when you pack that many people into a small area, some AC is needed. A lot of people, including myself, struggled with that discomfort. Good artist selections at Tupelo, but if I'm not physically comfortable, I'm not going back. read more

Reading other reviews, it appears they have gone to having just the padded metal seat's throughout, which is fine, but it's a bit tight & I got a bit fidgety by nights end with the chairs. We drove right by the Tupelo the first time, as it looks like an old white farmhouse with a porch wrapped around the front. Inside, it has an old New England home, or even a churchy feel, but dark, with open beams above, folding chairs, a small bar and snack area at the back where you can get pizza, chili, nachos, salads and soups, co-ed bathrooms. Intimate room. We saw Johnny Winter and also John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers there this year. Very good shows at reasonable admission, BYOB with a $3 charge. A little out of the way, but it's nice to step out of a bar after a rowdy show and smell the pine trees and see the stars...and maybe get lost on the dark roads. read more

Last night was my first concert at the new venue .. being a fan of the Londonderry venue, I was anxious to see it. I thought it was great until we reached our seats. We were in Section M and it was impossible to see Dionne Warwick sing unless she stood in between the heads of people in front of me. I was so terribly disappointed. The venue was like an oven until she started singing and then you could feel the air begin to circulate. The venue itself is very nice and definitely deceiving until you walk through the door. I dont think I would go there again, unless I was able to get tickets in the front section or maybe one of the bar seats. Again, I was a huge fan of Londonderry! Yep, this is a winner. I went to the Tupelo on March 19th to see Sarah Jarosz and Lera Lynn, who were both pretty amazing, but that's not what the review's about. Starting with the parking, there is some limited parking available on-site, which is available if you get there early enough. The two parking attendants were ultra-friendly and didn't laugh at my pathetic attempts to back into a spot. I can't speak to any other parking locations, but there were some options (albeit of murky legality) next door. The place is very cozy. As you can probably tell by the pictures, the performance area is a small room that could probably fit 250 or so. There was a snack bar area, and while I didn't have any food, a lot of it looked good enough to steal. In the rear, there was a small holding area that led to their two bathrooms (unisex), the merchandise table, and their wine/beer basement (not sure if it was closed that night or not). I will say, two bathrooms for 250 people was a bit skimpy and I saw a line every time I walked by the area, but at least they are nice bathrooms. For the actual concert experience, it's largely positive. Taking advice from prior reviews, I tried to be considerate of my fellow concertgoers by grabbing a seat on the end of a row so no one had to look over my head (considering my height that can be challenging). Even so, since I was in the second row, it was easily the closest I've been to the stage for a live show. The sight lines were really good and unless you have someone physically blocking you or you are at an ultra-shallow angle (first row, very end), you're going to see the show well. The sound was also very well done, albeit with an occasional quirk: loud without being too loud, with very nice acoustics. I kept this at four stars for a few reasons. First, the seats are a bit uncomfortable. I was there for three hours and was up and down a lot, and I was hurting a bit by the end. Second, since it's so small/intimate and independent, the prices skew a bit higher. Sarah Jarosz was a bargain at $20 and the $20 tag matched her other local shows, but you should be prepared to drop $100+ for a pair of tickets to some of the more established, senior artists (Joan Osborne was $60 per ticket, the Mickey Hart Band was $65). The nice part about this is that you get to avoid Ticketmaster, so if you dislike them, at least your money is going right to the source. With all of that said, I really did like the Tupelo, and I have no reservations about going back if another one of my favorite artists would go there. read more

Went to see George Winston here. I planned a nice, romantic evening with my wife. You would think it would be a great experience in a small little venue like this, but no... it wasn't. Here's what they said on the Tupelo Hall website: "An assortment of light meals (salads, soups or chilies, nachos, Tuscan style pizzas), desserts and beverages are available at performances. All food is provided by an outside caterer. The menu is subject to change without notice. We are not a restaurant. We do not have a separate room for eating. For theatre seating shows there are no tables to eat at." - Tupelo Hall Website FAQ The reality? NO FOOD WAS AVAILABLE Here's another claim from the website: "Sometimes it's nice to sit back, relax, and have a drink while listening to great music. You can certainly do that at Tupelo Music Hall. You bring the beer or wine (only and over 21 only); we'll supply the great music. Just remember to limit your alcohol intake to a safe and reasonable amount during your visit with us. We allow BYOB for all of our shows regardless of the seating arrangement." - Tupelo Hall Website The reality? My wife and I showed up with two nice Chimay ales to have with our food (remember the food they said they have?). We were turned away at the door! No alcohol allowed. Lastly, the venue itself was terrible. The only redeeming quality was that it's small. My principal complaints about the venue are: 1) Seating was on extremely hard, 100% wooden chairs for a multi-hour show. 2) There is absolutely no slope at all to the floor of the "music hall" (felt more like a performance in a church basement), so if you aren't in the front row, or aren't taller than people in front of you, you aren't going to see the performance. HUGE let down. My wife is only 5'1", so she sat there staring at the back of someone head the whole time. I am 5'11", but took the seat with the 6'5" guy in front of me, so that my wife might have a chance to see. Neither of us did see the show at all. 3) There are bathrooms available during intermission/break. The line for the bathrooms was over 20 mins long (there are only 2 bathrooms), so I missed the beginning of the 2nd part of my show thanks to the wait. All in all, this was one of the absolute worst venues I've ever seen a show at. I have no affiliation with any concert venues, have no interest in the success or failure of the Tupelo Hall business, etc... I'm just a guy who is pretty upset having paid over $100 for a nice, romantic evening with my wife, only to have it completely wrecked by the Tupelo Music Hall. Would never go there again. read more

Remember when going to a show meant being within fifty feet of the performer, and he/she/they were really good? Yeah, that's Tupelo. You pick your artist/group/venue type and they have it- in NH, too! Only downside is BYOB, but hey, you can only blame yourself for what you bring. Meet the performers after the show, too. Wonderful lineups and a great sound sytem. The only drawbacks are that it gets very very hot in there. They need better climate control--they do not run the A/C in non-summer months and they really should. The last time the fans were not even turning and people were sweating. Do not wear a sweater! And for vegetarians the food choices are weak. The table seating is great (and the BYOB is nice) but when they get top names and have just the chairs set up it can get pretty uncomfortable. I have been going to Tupelo Music Hall for years. I LOVED the one in Londonderry. It was very intimate, and you could get up to use the restroom without much trouble, and you could byob. I have been to the new one in Derry and I do not like it. The seats are zip tied together, so unless you are very thin be prepared to have elbows banging you. If you are on the farther side of the room, dot try to go to the back to get out for drinks. you have to walk up to the stage -- then go right or up to the back. We had the most obnoxious men behind us last night. They were buying 2 beers at a time, and someone from their row was trying to get out of their seat, and one of the men with 2 beers spilled his beer all over my seat. It was running across my feet. I'm glad I didn't put my pocketbook on the floor or it would have been ruined along with my phone. I would think it would be a fire law to have those seats tied like that. You CANNOT get OUT of the row by moving seats. Very dangerous. I have also sat up the back in the stationary seats. They are fine if you're 5ft. tall I am, so I was fine. My husband is 6ft 3 in. His knees were very uncomfortable. We are not teenagers or in our 20's we are the age of people this venue was made for. My advise would be to take out 2 seats out of each row in the orchestra section, and cut the damn ties.People would be more comfortable and not so annoyed. If you measure the average person from elbow to elbow you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. After all-----Isn't it all about the Music! ( Not the money ) read more

The new Derry venue is not what my wife and I loved about Tupelo in Londonderry which was intimate, hassle free, inexpensive entertainment, byob. My wife and I went to opening night in Derry and the new bigger Derry facility proves bigger is not always better. Adult beverages are NFL game expensive. Long lines are everywhere; line to get inside, lines at the bar, lines at the restroom. And they still have inadequate parking which doesn't make any sense at all since that was the owner's Achilles Heel at the Londonderry facility. read more

Saw a great Jim Messina show and the site lines from the floor table seats were good. The only problem was that the temp was in the 80's outside and 30 below zero inside the venue. So if you want to enjoy the night at a comfortable body temperature wear jeans and bring a hoody. read more

For New Hampshire this place is pretty decent; good sound, nice room, intimate setting, great alcohol selection, small sandwich bar. The downfalls... there are 2 chair setups tables (like on the site) and and in arched rows (what I experienced), the floor is flat and the so it is difficult to see over the patron in front of you. Half of the chairs are wood and half are padded, Neither are even remotely comfortable. I do intend to go back but I will sit farther back (the rear half has the padded seats, row i and behind) and definitely bring a pad for the chair. read more

One of the best places to see a show! There's not a bad seat in the place. The beer & wine store downstairs is great. We go down and buy a mixed 6 pack & bring it upstairs to the show. Also we always grab something at the food counter to have for dinner. The offerings and quality is amazing. The service is a bit slow, but understandable, with how for a short time they are busy and it's only 2 people in the kitchen. The parking for Tupelo is very organized and easy in & out, compared to other venues. Great experience. read more

I was a long time fan and advocate for the previous location and venue in Londonderry, NH. But unfortunately the owners moved to a new Derry, NH location in March of this year... The old venue was so warm, charming, intimate, possessed character and the stage and set up provided for a beautiful and personal experience for both the performers and attendees. Unfortunately I recently attended the new venue in Derry to see a rather sad and weak performance by a frail, over extended and tired Gordon Lightfoot who was way beyond his shelf life having performed on 9 previous nights prior to arriving at Tupelo.... Performance aside; this new venue is akin to attending an event at your local middle school auditorium. It's a cold looking fare, cinderblock one story one time office building in an industrial park. Simply no character, no charm, cold and as sterile as an Middle School auditorium you've seen, and I see no reason to make the drive to this place in the future... the one time charm and class of the old Tupelo has been sterilized and stripped of any character... just not a place I can recommend to anyone who enjoys the experience of live music... sorry guys, you lost the formula... read more

I just saw the English Beat here last week. AMAZING venue. totally took me off guard... it was like seeing the band in my living room. The fact that it is also a BYOB was a huge plus. we were able to bring in our own beer without a hassle. The club staff seems to enjoy the shows as much as the audience which really makes for a fun time. Since the Beat is a dance band the volume could have been up a notch but it did not take away from the show. A friend that has been here many times said that some of the blues shows have been too loud...so i guess there is a happy medium. Tupelo is such a gem. I have been to numerous shows here. The accoustics are amazing. I brought wine and snacks for our group and stored everything neatly under my seat. I have always had so much fun and cant believe this place is in my parents back yard :) Very intimate setting. Highly recommended. If you would like to eat dinner, beforehand, I suggest Whippersnappers or The Homestead Tavern. Both are close by and yummy. read more

This review is also for the new venue at 10 A street. A friend and I went to see Del and the Dawg on 4/14/17. The musicians were great the venue is not. Paid almost $70.00 per ticket for folding chairs or cafeteria chairs that are tied together. There is no room to breath never mind relax and enjoy the show. Horrible. We had to move to the back of the place where there are larger chairs in order to be comfortable. Not what we paid for. The glass doors are very distracting. Oh and if you want a draft beer, plan on chalking up $8.75 each !!! Not going back.... read more

If you want to see a show at a venue that's not to crowded, not to pretentious and with a sound system that does the artist justice get on their mailing list and become a regular every time your in the great state of New Hampshire. it's BYOB and their is a wine store in the basement where the girls will even sell you their personnel glassware if you smile nicely. Seriously the acts are worth the time, the price is right and the venue rocks. Make sure you pay them a visit. read more
