So. Damn. Good. I got their hummus as an appetizer and mixed platter and 6 hours later, I'm still so full. Thr chicken and kebabs were so incrincredibly flavorful and the rice was as well. But the star of the show was the bread and hummus. My god it was so good, I couldn't sstop eating it!!! I also got the apricot juice and unlike regular american juices it wasnt that sweet. i was really able to taste the natural flavor of the apricots! I came here precovid last time I came here. But I haven't had a chance to dine here after covid. So, when I found out it was sunnyside restaurant week, I came here with a friend to try it out. It still looks the same, and from what I remember, the food was just as good. I ordered the eggplant dish as an appetizer, and it was a decent size, and it tasted good with the warm bread that they served. For the main course, I ordered the stuffed cabbage that had minced beef inside. It wasn't so bad to eat. For the last course, which was dessert, I got the rice pudding. Best Turkish food in Queens! Nice and calm ambient, which is good for family/friends/date. Owner is present and is very attentive and friendly. Service is expedient, with frequent water refills and check ins. They do not rush you out the door once you are done eating. Food is super delicious and fresh! We ordered a large shepherd salad ($14), 2 lahmacun and an adana kebab. The salad was good but lacked some vibrancy, more lemon juice would have been good. Also they used dry sumac which left a weird "bite" to the salad. The lahmacun was probably my favorite with parsley, onion and tomato on the side. The adana kebab was slightly salty for me but my bf said it was fine when eaten with the rice and salad. Overall, it's close to where we live so worth coming back but 3.5/5 for food quality. RUDE. I went in with two friends and asked if we could sit for dessert (kunefe). I was told "they only make it to go". We awkwardly stood there as they served EVERY TABLE kunefe and tea. Went here as a family of 7 on a Saturday night at 8:30 pm, and were seated right away. It's a small, cozy place and the place started getting busy after 8:45/9 pm with not much seating left by 9:15 pm. We ordered a few things, including the Sheesh Kabab, Adana Kabab, and while ordering, our waitress mentioned that Chicken Gyro was their daily special. I ordered the Gyro with Salad (which normally comes with rice). The Gyro was ok when it warm and became very difficult to eat once it was a little colder. Ate here on Memorial day (Tuesday evening) - one of the few places open in the area, for evening dinner. Our group made reservations to open their fast, on the table there were complimentary dates for everyone. We were also accommodated with prayer space and the staff were courteous. I came here to try Turkish cuisine since I'll be flying out there later this year. The first thing I noticed were how friendly and happy the staff were. There is definitely a welcoming and homely vibe here which was very inviting. I spoke to the manager, Jasmine while I was waiting to pick up my food and she was really nice. Not only did she offer me some of her fruit (I might have caught her during her lunch break) but she also helped me narrow down the cities that I wanted to travel to while in Turkey. While the hood remained sleepy over the last decade, it was Turkish Grill that brought in some bells and whistles many of other Turkish/Lebanese spots couldn't compete with. For folks who are used to hearty portions, you won't find that here. The plates themselves are smaller, the prices are higher, and the presentation is something they focus on. With their decor, semi-cheesy music and cosy ambiance, the vibe is very date like. Ideal for couples but certainly not shy from groups, which is usually held in their next door room. Service seems professional, though a bit cold. I've heard moans and groans in the past when some of the dining companions turn down a glass of wine or a more expensive platter. Thankfully, there is more than enough of them. They do a decent job at refilling waters, handling orders, but often times swipe plates off the table a little too soon. Let's talk food. The mixed appetizer is a popular choice for folks looking for lots of tastes. It's one plate of six almost ice cream scoops of different mashes ranging from hummus to baba ganoush. I am an advocate of the kefte, aka the Turkish meatball, along with the mixed grill because the other plates tend to skimp with the meat (I'm looking at you Doner Kebab). Nonetheless, one will also likely enjoy the falafel and gyro options as well but not for $10-14. They have outdoor seating in the warm weather months and their bathrooms make me feel like I'm in someone's apartment. Service was good but I felt rushed as the waiters kept asking if we need anything and if they should take away our plates within 15 min of us getting our food! They were not rude at all.
