The absolutely horrendous service experience makes me question all the 5-star reviews as fake/paid. Came for a Sunday brunch, we were probably the only people at the restaurant when we arrived and ordered. Got a hummus and some brunch mains (hummus was to share but mostly for our toddler to get started during the wait). 30 min or so passed before they showed up with the hummus. I initially thought they decided to bring everything together so it took so long but no. Had to wait another 30 min for the mains. I had to ask for more bread since 1 hummus for 5 people was clearly not sufficient and taking 1 hour to deliver brunch food in an almost empty restaurant is beyond unreasonable. Took them another 40 min to get a piece of pita bread out, came after the 1-hour-wait mains. Manager came to apologize and said she will come back "to walk us through what happened and what they can comp". Okay... of course she never came back and the waiter took off a coffee and hummus off the bill. The two cheapest items. Not even the overpriced mocktails that are sugar water priced like an alcoholic drink and literally cost them nothing. Hummus I couldn't even eat because after 1 hour of waiting had to really entertain the toddler (who behaved perfectly until over 1 hour of sitting around in one spot starving). Really disappointing and concerning that the restaurant seems to be creating fake positive reviews that mislead customers about the actual quality. read more

Beautiful restaurant with illuminated marble throughout including the tables and walls. Somebody spent a lot of money to decorate this restaurant. What is a little unusual for a place this beautiful is they have TVs along the walls. This night guests were enjoying the World Cup. They also have outside seating. The food was very good to excellent. We enjoyed the octopus, hummus, tuna avacado, and the fried zucchini. The wine served by the glass or bottle was tasty and everybody enjoyed their main courses, including Lamb, short ribs, & chicken kabob. one star for the food, the avocado feta dip specifically was amazing. as for the rest of the service, it was beyond terrible. we had a 6:45 reservation and were seated by 6:49 pm. the hostess did not even give us water for the table for 25-30 minutes when we were finally able to get her attention after trying multiple times to speak to our waitress who ignored us. when we asked to place an order for drinks, the hostess told us she would send the waitress over but it took another 20 minutes until someone who I assume was the manager approached and took our drink orders, which he told us would be on the house. within 5 minutes, two of our drinks arrived but one was still missing. it did not get served for 20-25 minutes after the other two drinks came and the ice was mostly melted at that point. all in all, we did not even place our orders until 7:38 pm, nearly an hour after sitting. in between, we finally were able to get the waitress to stop at our table where we put in some appetizers and other meal orders. highly recommend if you find yourself in this restaurant to order the tzatziki and the avocado feta dip. we also had the spicy feta but it was a but too spicy for me personally (still good though) and the pita was great. our order mostly came out except for the sushi roll which was strange since the rest of the order was pasta/hot dishes. we had to follow up for the sushi roll which was eventually delivered a bit after we asked about it. my biggest issue was when I asked the server if I could place an order for a tommy's margarita which is a known type of cocktail and made a specific way. the waitress said she was unfamiliar and brought the bartender out to ask who was immediately rude to me with quite an attitude. she began to explain to me that tommy's margaritas are the same as any type of margarita which I know not to be true from many other establishments (and even a basic google search will show). I did not appreciate the way she spoke to me and the attitude I received to the point my friends and I were in shock and after paying left most of our last drinks on the table because we had had such a poor experience at this restaurant. I understand it was one of the first nice days here in NYC and there were a lot of people sitting outside. I cannot believe that we did not even speak to our waitress until over an hour after sitting down. typically you at least stop by the table quickly to apologize and get a drink order. while I can be accommodating to the fact that the waitress said she was new, and she was apologetic as well as the manager's offer to comp one round of drinks, I am not understanding of the bartender's approach to argue with me about how a drink is made. cannot recommend going here until they get better service. read more

Really good experience! We came in for dinner last night as we wanted a easy spot to grab. The restaurant itself is absolutely gorgeous. When you walk in they did an incredible job with the interior. We ended up doing the summer restaurant week menu and had the kale salad, the beef kofta and the baklava. Honestly, I was very pleasantly surprised. Not that I came into this dinner with low expectations, but I came in with no expectations at all and was really impressed. Not only was the food great but service could not have been better. This Mediterranean-style restaurant offers outdoor and indoor seating, but we couldn't get an outdoor table due to the heavy wind. Everything was flying. We stayed indoors because I don't want my food flying all over. I prefer the food to fly from the kitchen to my plate, but that wouldn't happen. Yasin was our waiter. He and the team did a great job. Passed by Zoi multiple times, but after coming back from the Met without a dinner reservation and ready to pass out from hunger, it was finally time to try it out. Inside has a fun vibe, although noise was a bit loud and kind of gave more club vibes than dinner vibes. Ordered the zoi mezze royal (choice of 3 mezze)- hummus, babaganoush, and muhamarra. The hummus and muhamarra were probably my favorite and tasted great with the warm pita. We were absolutely starving at this point which probably made it taste even better. I ordered the butcher kofta for my main entree and it tasted fine, but overall was incredibly overwhelming especially for the price. Overall it's a nice place to eat that seems to have a good amount of seating options so it's great if you don't have a reservation. However I felt like the food was pretty overpriced for what you get, and wasn't particularly blown away by the food. Probably wouldn't go out of my way to come here. read more

I was here with a group to this nice looking Mediterranean place on the Upper East Side a good while ago. I remember there being issues in terms of how long it took for dishes to be served along with some issues with someone's dish due to their allergies which led to us getting free baklava which was a good thing as it was my favorite bite here. Overall the food was alright and at the same time a bit pricey. I started with a Mussels appetizer which was either a special or potentially something that no longer exists on the menu. There was a tomato based broth and the mussels were properly cooked though one or two had some grain unfortunately. It was decent and I think it was around $20 or so for a good amount of mussels which I shared with others. I remember trying the mucver/zucchini pancakes from someone else and they were a decent version but I have very high standards for that dish and another person enjoyed their calamari. My main dish had some faults as well. The Butter Poached Lobster Tail With Grilled Corn for $38 had said lobster tail, lemon butter sauce, grilled corn, and fresh herbs. I was a big fan of the sauce in particular which had a pleasant flavor and texture with the corn being unique adding some sweetness and some crunch occasionally. This was honestly the best part of the dish as the lobster itself was very overcooked which was unfortunate. If the lobster was cooked well, it would have been excellent but c'est la vie. As mentioned, they gave us some free dessert at the end which was the Cold Baklava which is normally $16 and it comes with 4 pieces of said dessert with a sweet pastry made of layers of filo filled with milk, chocolate, and pistachio. The milk added a unique touch to this dessert almost reminding me of how some Turkish spots add dondurma in the middle of their baklava and it added a nice extra texture and helped with the slight dryness of the filo dough. The chocolate was alright quality while the pistachios were nice. This was overall very tasty and I recommend it to share or for one particularly ravenous person. The food, service, and well everything else here was alright. If the food matched the wonderful atmosphere, I would certainly have gone back already but outside of the dessert, the other dishes had glaring faults for the price point. Low 3. read more

I came here for a work event and it's in such a cute neighborhood with so many food options around. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and it was oddly warm indoors the day we came here so we requested a change for outdoor seating and they got us set up right away. Everyone was super friendly and attentive and they had really good happy hour deals as well. The menu was fairly extensive and you would def find something that you like on the menu. We got a variety of different items to share: -Watermelon & Tomato Salad: This was really yummy and super refreshing. -Spicy Feta Cheese: This was super yummy especially with the pita bread that they gave us -Tzatzik: This dip was also super yummy and it was not too heavy -Mixed Grilled: This was pretty good; some of the meats were more tender than the others but the flavoring was good and the portion size was pretty good as well. Made a reservation through the restaurant week website, and when we sat down they told us restaurant week was over "yesterday" even though the website shows it was still running. Whatever we decided to order from the regular menu which was our only option at that point. The trio dip that we got was delicious. I ordered the lobster tail with corn, which wasn't good. Honestly, one of the best I've ever had -- super fresh, well-balanced, not too boozy. Off to a good start... Then came the cheeseboard. The cheese selection was decent (I skipped the blue cheese), but the crackers? Literally the same ones you'd get in a Lunchables pack. Kraft Nabisco-style -- dry, processed, and not what you'd expect at a nicer place. Where was the fresh bread, crostini, or pita? For my entrée, I ordered the lobster. The lemon beurre blanc sauce was delicious -- easily the best part of the meal. But the lobster? Overcooked and rubbery, stuck in the shell. Worst of all: the corn side was covered in blue cheese, which wasn't mentioned on the menu at all. I can't stand blue cheese, and taking a big bite without warning made me feel sick. We're locals and were looking forward to another great restaurant but Blue Mezze didn't live up to the expectations. Food: The best item we had was the watermelon salad. It was refreshing and the tomatoes were a nice touch. The falafel felt dry and under seasoned. In our mezze we got the Muhammara, Hummus, and Tzatziki. They were okay, nothing too memorable about them. The pita bread that came with it was delicious. Freshly made and well seasoned. The only main entree they had that was vegetarian was the truffle pasta. It was okay. Service: Service was rude and abrupt and impatient. I understand that they are busy but less than 5 minutes after we were seated they kept trying to rush us to order and once we ordered we didn't see our server until it was time to order our main entrees. It was so hard to get our water filled or even catch someone to order more food/drinks. Ambiance: It's got a great vibe. I love the decor and definitely feels like a fancy restaurant. They also have a live DJ which I think is really cool. Price: Given the service and quality of the food, this whole meal felt very over priced. Despite it's great ambiance, it is not worth the price. It was nice that it came with greens and potatoes, but really wish they'd separated it so everything wasn't all oily/soggy. Went for bottomless brunch that came w egg entree. Portions pretty small--ended up adding on the Cajun fries which also seemed like small portions, but i will say I was full by the end of the meal. The atmosphere was very cute though. Thought the waitress didn't like us but then she gave us a heads up for last call when our bottomless brunch time was up and she seemed to encourage us to take advantage of it which I liked. Wouldn't go back because of the portion size compared to the price. Atmosphere is very cute so it would be good for a first date for someone who doesn't mind paying more than what it is worth. I will say they do seem to have an extensive menu both for brunch and drinks. Also interesting that there are two bottomless brunch options: one just for drinks ($30) that you could pair with any menu item or one for bottomless drinks plus an egg entree for $49 (I think that's what the cost was). They each have slightly different drink options though (the drinks only included a Bellini as opposed to drinks + eggs had a sangria option). Really like the ambiance, decor and how bright and open it is. Tons of outdoor seating. I don't like the street outdoor areas on busy avenues, but they have plenty along the building as well. The one thing is that while the chairs and tables were super cute, the chairs were way too high for the table and was a bit uncomfortable. While the food looked great, it unfortunately lacked any flavor. The tuna tartare had beautiful presentation, but felt like it didn't even have salt or seasoning. The tuna and avocado combo is generally enjoyable, but without and flavor it's just the consistency of two mushy substances and was not enjoyable. The only thing that saved it is that the pita they brought for the table had a lot of flavor so we used it for the tuna. The octopus also was lacking in flavor and was served so hot it was inedible for quite some time. The consistency was well done - it was buttery and not chewy at all, but it didn't taste like much at all. The feta rolls were the only thing that were delicious and had a lot of flavor, although one of them was served looking like they forgot to season the outside the way they had the other three? This made it feel like not a lot of attention was going into each dish. It was obvious just by looking at it. These were also served so hot that we burned our mouths and I actually had to spit a bite out to wait for it to cool down enough to be edible. I have passed by here many times. One sunday my friend and I decided to come for brunch. It was on the earlier side and we had no reservations. This restaurant is pretty nice in the inside and cool vibes. The music was good but a bit on the louder side. But nothing crazy. We were able to get seated within 5 min. We had a choice to sit inside, outside or in the covered outside enclosed part. It was very hot that day so we decided to sit inside with some of the AC. But they had the doors open and a big fan blowing. We decided to sit by the door and big fan. Which was fine for me. The tables were deff a bit close together and kind of hard to get by. I had Eggs Benedict, with a side of turkey bacon, a mimosa and an iced latte. I have not had such a good tasting iced latte at a restaurant before and my friends mean and my meal was very tasty. My friend was so excited to eat here and I was happy to try it out. The bathroom is small and you have to walk through the kitchen to get to it. It was actually super hot in the bathroom which was kind of annoying. Our waiter was great and took my food allergies seriously. I also got a cute cup for the rest of my iced latte to go. At times a restaurant needs honest feedback to improve. Positives - The service was friendly and the ambiance was modern in a great location. Negative - No air conditioning, it was hotter in the restaurant than it was outside. The food was not good, our starter was a combination of sour sun dried tomatoes and a sweet eggplant, this just does not work. The lamb piece in my combination platter had a small bone and I nearly chopped my tooth. The Mezcal Margarita was bizarrely sour with an odd bitter flavor that made this drink gross. The chicken was dry with a basic bbq sauce, not reminiscent of Mediterranean flare. The prices are ambitious for what's offered. I had a business lunch at Blue Mezze. One of my colleagues said as we were departing that she was glad to have discovered the restaurant. I concur. Everyone was more than satisfied with the prix fixe menu. I am generally positive on social media. I am especially enthusiastic, however, about businesses that are offering value that is above and beyond. The meal here would have merited an excellent review at twice the price. It was extraordinary at what they charged, so much I wonder how they can continue as a business. I had the watermelon and tomato salad, which was spicy, and they warned us. Someone at the table requested feta. They were generous. I had three large cubes. By itself, the salad could have been a meal. Then I had the baba ganoush. It came with well toasted pita slices. There was enough I saved half of it. By then, I should have just passed on the main course. It was a cheeseburger with truffle mayonnaise French fries. I am trying to cut down on red meat. This was worth the "cheat." It could not have been better, the ingredients and the skill. I did my best. I had a majority of the dish remaining on the plate when I pushed it away. That went into another box. Then there was the dessert course! The waitress was terrific. She was overwhelmed but didn't show it. I believe there was nobody else serving. That meant she had a dozen tables, perhaps more, in three areas. I was worried I had gotten onto her bad side by summoning her to the table. But she was a professional. I left a good tip. That is important to do. I have to say I am in the neighborhood approximately once per year on my own. I am there though for work purposes maybe a half dozen times in that period. I came here on a Sunday morning for brunch. The interior is very beautiful but the AC was either not on or not working well because my party was sweating even sitting inside. The table split the Blue Basket which comes with croissants, muffins, and danishes. They were out of danishes so they gave us more croissants. Everything was warm which was nice. I ordered the shashuka which was delicious. It came with a side of pita bread. Others in my party ordered the berry pancakes which were also very good. Out with friends for dinner, we stumbled across this restaurant that could seat 5 of us on a busy Friday night. While we waited for a table large enough to comfortably seat us all, they made room for us at a smaller table where we enjoyed our drinks & appetizers. Our meal started with the feta cigars and oysters on the half shell. I can see why the cigars are such a popular menu item! They had a crisp exterior that were loaded with feta on the inside. The oysters were fresh and paired nicely with their spicy cocktail sauce. Our entrees came out shortly after we were moved to our larger table. I ordered the seared salmon which was cooked perfectly to medium rare and topped with a nice, acidic chimichurri-esque sauce. The risotto was a tad more aldente than I wanted, but delicious nonetheless. If it hadn't been for how stuffed we were we would've ordered dessert too! read more

I went to a dinner party at the Blue Mezze, and overall had a wonderful time. The food was delicious; we ordered about five mezzes at $20 each and shared. My personal favorite were the grape leaves and the kibbeh. Service was professional and cordial, as you'd expect for this type of establishment, with frequent check-ins and refills. My one gripe with my experience was that the ambiance was much louder and more chaotic than I expected-- with live music, recorded music, AND the very crowded interior all at once it was hard to focus on my meal and hear anything. After nabbing a Groupon, I came here expecting a deal, but I would have been livid if I'd paid full price. I've never seen drinks arrive diluted right off the bat and this happened 4 times! Something fishy was going on at the bar, but maybe the ice just melted THAT quickly because the AC was broken. We were sweltering inside! This seems to be an ongoing issue the owner refuses to fix; previous reviewers mentioned it weeks ago. First impressions were promising; the restaurant is visually stunning with backlit stone walls, fancy chairs, and coffered ceilings, illuminated tables. But a closer look revealed the chairs were worn out and flat, and the ceiling was full of flies. As for food, we ordered a lamb kebab, a truffle burger, a seafood platter, a dozen oysters, grilled octopus, and salmon. Nothing was fresh. The oysters were shriveled and broken, with four of them tasting rotten- giving the impression they were previously frozen. The octopus was mushy and had a clay-like texture and the salmon tasted freezer-burned. The burger was just alright according to my friend. To top it all off [pun intended] there was some kinda of bug killer or air fresher dangling from the ceiling which was just so offputting. Service was passable but slow.
