This chicken sandwich has a lot of potential to be great. Fried chicken thigh, thick cut, creative toppings (red hot riplets). But the biggest problem was that the bun was soggy and almost falling apart.. Hopefully that was a one-off experience, because otherwise it would be a solid sandwich. Fries were killer too!

Been trying to write this review for ages. In any case, thank you. Thank you. Oh, and thank you. Because ST LOUIS HAS A GOSH DANG FIRE NASHVILLE CHICKEN SANDWICH. This thing was absolutely beautiful. Perfect blend of spice, smoky, and complex. A masterclass. Dont even get me started on the tacos. Imagine going to jack in the box sober and the tacos are made with love, not frozen for 6 months. Bursting with beef, crispy shells, and a tangy ranch sauce to make em about as addicting as something can be before getting listed as illegal. Vibes are great inside tamm ave. Folks bringing dogs, patio soaking the sun. Come get you some chicken and a beer!

    Philly cheese steak special

I saw they were having a Philly cheesesteak special. I made sure to call before I went to make sure they had it today. Then I called back to order so it would be ready once I arrived. The Man at the counter was the same person who took my order over the phone. He was extremely nice and exceeded our expectations. Shortly after we arrived our food was ready. He made sure to put a fork and napkins in the bag. I love not having to ask for basic items. Then we sat outside to eat. The Philly cheesesteak was very flavorful with Citizen Kanes flavored ribeye. I was worried about the sesame seeds in the bread. But the bread was perfect thickness, toast, and size. I wish the meat was more tender as I did struggle a bit trying break the meat up. It was still really good and I hope this becomes a permanent item on their menu.

It's a no for me... just not feeling the flavor profiles, but you go ahead and try it. The ToTs..yes, crispy and definitely an original play on traditional tots, but the consistency is something you need to adjust to. The ranch dressing was good. Sandwich, I went with the Chicken, Provel Sauce, Red Hot Riplets and Grilled onions one. Uummm, the grilled onions threw this whole flavor off and the provel sauce lacked flavor/seasoning. I ate 3 tots and a 1/4 of the sandwich. That's all I could do. Service was fine and the dining space was clean and open, the air conditioning was definitely on blast. Like I said, check it out for yourself.

I really loved my food here. Came in with a large group for an after work happy hour and ordered some drinks at Tamm Ave. we got the cauliflower for the table and it was delish! I got the Nashville Hot Sandwich with fries! The meet was juicy, flavorful and definately packed a punch. The service was great and the person who took our order was so funny! Absolutely delicious!! The chicken was SO good. We got the dark meat nuggets, poutine, mac and cheese, wings, and the mother clucker sandwich. All were so delicious and piping hot. The chicken was so crispy and juicy and flavorful. Love the option of white or dark meat. The food came out pretty fast with how busy they were and the guy taking orders was very friendly. It's located inside Tamm Ave bar and we decided to go on the first Mizzou game day of the season so it was PACKED. We couldn't even get to the back patio. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves back there tho. We sat out front and it was lovely. Parking was easy. Can't wait to go back!

Awwwww man!!! When I heard Byrd & Barrel was making a return I was beyond stoked. Triumphant return to the city, and it was nothing short of amazing! Chef Bob really outdid himself with the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. The chicken was perfectly crispy and packed with just the right amount of heat, all served on a soft, pillowy brioche bun that complemented the flavors beautifully. I couldn't resist trying the special of the day, which was the chicken and crawfish gumbo! The gumbo was rich and hearty, with tender pieces of chicken and succulent crawfish, all swimming in a flavorful, well-seasoned broth. It was comfort food at its finest. Byrd & Barrel has definitely made a stellar comeback, and I can't wait to go back and try more of their mouthwatering dishes. If you're a fan of great chicken and bold flavors, this place is a must-visit!

Unbelievable, met with Cody today to create a new Moniker in the STL sandwich scene. Presenting the KCWoedy!!! A double dipped Nashville Hot covered in jalapeños and fresh made iceberg slaw. Named after Ken, Cody and Wayne. It was unbelievably good. Thank you Cody, that was Epic!!!!!

I was visiting Tamm Avenue Bar for the Love Island Reunion so I wanted a nearby place for a bite. It's literally conjoined with T.A.B. So I walked over and placed the order for my friend and I. I ordered the Sunday Sandwich with fries for myself and the poutine with mushroom gravy for my friend. They give you a table number and bring the food directly to you once it's ready. I don't know if it's because I didn't have any sauce on my burger but it was like eating a Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwich with only some of the love. It needed sauce and I am not sure why it doesn't come with any. The pickles were on point and was giving "we just made these pickles in house" vibes. The fries were fries and my friend enjoyed her poutine. If I order that sandwich again, I am asking for sauce of some sort. I don't care if it's pickle juice or something! All that brioche bread and thick chicken with no sauce was sadness.

Mac and cheese and Nashville hot chicken, both delicious

Food was delicious! I got the Nashville hot chicken and the Mac and cheese. The sandwich was delicious! The spice was a touch bitter but overall I loved the sandwich! Mac and cheese was amazing great complex flavor! Service was kind and fast! Ambiance was casual.

We have been really excited for the return of Byrd and Barrel we used to frequent the original location on Jefferson. We ordered quickly on a Friday night and dined in. I got the Nashville hot sandwich which had good flavor but wasn't spicy as I expected. The Mac and cheese side was tasty. We also got the mother clucker which was the better sandwich of the two. We also brought home some nugs which were as good as I had remembered!

I'm in town for a few days and this came up on my radar as a place to try. The menu is pretty straight forward. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. There are two seating options, a small dining room or the bar next door that is connected through the dining room. I love a good breaded chicken sandwich and this one hit the spot. The onions with the chips and the fried chicken are the perfect combo. Wish there was a location closer to Chicago.

WOULD recommend (general). Stop by on a hot summer day, they have few locations in the St. Louis…read morearea so we decided this one since it was around the way from what we were doing that day. They have drive-in lot right by the service windows with the outdoor patio seating (resembles Sonic Drive-In). They have a menu for viewing outdoor but can also look online since its consistent amongst all locations. When we went, we first ordered the 2x3 tender-wing combo (Level 2 heat) w/ side of Mac & Cheese and Chuck's sauce/Honey Sriracha Aioli; and also ordered the Chicken Sandwich (Level 3 heat) + coleslaw w/ side of French Fries and Chuck's sauce. First piece of advice I would go up with the heat level, we overestimated the level. For someone who wanted heat but not too much heat, level 3 was too mild and could have done level 4/5, same for level 2 could have done level 3. For the chicken sandwich, I wish they could have put full cuts of cabbage rather than minced pieces in the middle; I also think the sandwich could be little more tender but flavor wise, the sandwich is not lacking at all (rating 7.8/10). But they absolutely LOADED me with fries in my box so I appreciate them for that (rating 8.6/10). For the 2x3 combo, it was actually 2x4 (gave extra wing), I personally recommend the Honey Sriracha Aioli with the chicken (rating 7.5/10). If you are a honey mustard lover like me, then Chuck's sauce is perfect, its a mix of honey mustard with dash of BBQ sauce. The side of mac & cheese was above par in my opinion, could use a little more seasoning but I liked it nonetheless (rating 8.1/10). They also had frozen lemonade that can be mixed (strawberry lemonade and lemonade flavor), definitely recommend especially during this summer heat. Overall, I enjoyed my visit here, the service was timely and the lady at the counter was very polite. They give you a little pager to let you know when your order is up. This is a solid option, especially compared to other franchises like Dave's Hot Chicken. They also are on DoorDash if you wanted to have delivered.

Everything was delicious and paired really well together. I went with a spice level 3, which definitely had a nice kick to it, but when you mix it with the sides it balances out perfectly. The mac and cheese was especially good--creamy and cheesy without being overly seasoned. Combined with the spicy chicken, it made the whole meal even better. Definitely a great find while we were in town!

They had a lunch special; one breast, two sides and a biscuit, add a soft drink for a dollar, a good value. My sides were coleslaw and Cajun rice and I chose the spicy chicken. The breast was the star of the show. It was huge, crispy on the outside with tender meat, delicious and fried to perfection. The coleslaw was just a little too soupy for my preference but it had good flavor. The Cajun rice was also a bit too moist but it too had good flavor. I still consider it a good value but hope I caught them on a bad day for the sides. Now the rest of the story: the dining area was clean and bright as was the restroom, the tables were spotless, and all of the staff was professional and friendly. Very impressive overall. I'll be sure to return when in the area, may try other sides next time.

I've been there once or twice over the years, and I've eaten from the food truck once or twice. The fried chicken is fine but kinda underwhelming. It's good, but not to the point where it justifies the price. It's served on a metal tray, on a piece of wax paper, as if it were premium Texas barbecue, but at the end of the day, it's not barbecue. It's just fried chicken. The dirty little secret of fried chicken is that it's not especially hard to make decent-quality fried chicken. They sell it at gas stations, in grocery stores. Popeyes employees lacking in basic life skills, whom you wouldn't trust to make a cup of coffee, routinely crank out a product as good as anything else you can get in a restaurant. Not that I'm complaining. I love Grace! It's where I go when my "bad" cholesterol is too low and the balance in my checking account is too high. I'm at a problematic and yet gratifying state of equlibrium after yesterday's visit. I already kinda knew that I wasn't going to bother with the chicken, but I could hardly read the menu. I almost went with a half-chicken just to avoid having to squint. They've got one of those backlit screens, like at a McDonald's (where everyone just uses the kiosk now anyway), but with worse fonts and less line-spacing. I'm sure they paid a premium for it back in '06 or whatever. Everything in this place is peak stomp clap-era millennial optimism, from back when guys were dressing as lumberjacks. Of course there's a random, incongruous smash burger on the menu. They may or may not be playing Mumford & Sons on the Muzak. I figured the chicken sandwich, called the OG Crispy, would be a good opportunity to compare it to the famous chicken sandwich at the aforementioned Popeyes. Also, it comes with fries, which spared me from having to take out a loan on my house to purchase them a la carte. At $16 (I think), it'll definitely run you, but in general, the prices here seem less ridiculous than they used to. It's still entirely too much, but somehow not much more than you'd spend at a fast food restaurant. Are the fries that come with a sandwich the same size that they are if you order them separately? Supposedly, the a la carte side feeds two. I couldn't imagine two people sharing the side that comes with the OG Crispy. Someone might get cut! It was a perfectly fine size for just me. They're seasoned with some sort of blend that's heavy on the black pepper. I would have been fine with just salt, but this was no dealbreaker. The OG Crispy was great! Was it better than the chicken sandwich at Popeyes? It's hard to say. It's probably a better quality piece of chicken. Similar size. Expertly prepared: nice and crisp on the outside and not overcooked on the inside, which is key for white meat. You're given the choice of regular or hot. I of course went with the hot. I wish the sauce had more tang to it, but it was surprisingly and delightfully hot. Spicy foods in non-ethnic restaurants are so often nerfed, for children and, erm, non-ethnics. A few people at my table had the po boys, both shrimp and catfish. They looked really good, and not as skimpy as they look in some of the photos posted here. I might have to try one, once my LDL subsides and my financial situation recovers. Sandwiches might be the thing to get here. Not that you can truly go wrong with anything.
