    The Meltdown

A beautiful day to sit on their patio. Started with the Smoked Tuna Spread which is always a fantastic choice. Lunch was burgers and Seasonal Salads with a side of Ranch Parmesan Fries to share. Burgers cooked perfectly, juicy and delicious, French fries crispy. For summer, Seasonal Salad is one of the best options on the menu (chicken potpie in the cold weather!)Chicken is always juicy and grilled perfectly, plenty of strawberries and pecans. The Ranch Parmesan Fries are something we have never seen anywhere else and are amazing!!! The trees outdoors have gotten very large so we had great shade the whole time. They are very, very busy every day, but the staff assist each other with the tables to keep everything flowing. Impressive teamwork . Been too long since we have been here, will be back soon!

A quaint restaurant with great food. Parking is easy to find, and the restaurant itself is decorated in a rustic manner. I ordered the Short Rib Pot Pie. It was delicious! The puff pastry was flaky, lightly browned, and was thick. Inside of the Pot Pie, there was the short rib, celery, carrots, and a mashed potato base. The first few bites of short rib tasted burnt, but this was not the full experience of the meal. Food came out relatively quickly, I hardly waited 15-20 minutes. An honorable mention to the Seafood Pot Pie. It was a special the last time I came here, and it was incredible.

I miss dining at, The Piccadilly at Manhattan on the regular. I use to live fairly close and would easily dine there a couple times a month. I now live in Illinois and it's just not as convenient. When a STL friend and I were going to meet for lunch, I suggested Piccadilly. I was shocked that she'd never been. So I got my fix and got to introduce someone new to this amazing little restaurant. I arrived early, so I went ahead and got us a table. While I was waiting for my friend, I had a Tito's Martini with a twist. I barely had taken a sip and my friend arrived. She joined me at the table and we started to look over the menu. Our server, shared a couple daily specials and we quickly made up our minds on what we were having. My dining partner, chose the Fried Fish Sandwich from the menu and I enjoyed the Prime Rib Sandwich which was a daily special. Both of our sandwiches came with fries. Both of us enjoyed our lunches, I ate all of mine and my friend took a portion of hers home. Their fish sandwiches are huge. I use to get them all the time during Lent. They offer some of their most popular menu items for the freezer. Knowing this, I'll plan a trip to fill up a cooler, then return home and stock up my freezer. Then when I want a Pot Pie (most popular dish), some Lasagna or Meatloaf, I'll feel as if I'm in their dining room. The service was friendly, just what you'd expect from a family owned restaurant. It's been around since, 1901. That means people were eating at, The Piccadilly before the World's Fair. So, Meet Me In St. Louis at The Piccadilly.

What a fun, interesting little place. Literally a house in a neighborhood in Maplewood. Felt like eating at grandma's when she put a bunch of tables out for sunday meal. We sat out on the back porch. Nice selection of salads, sandwiches and comfort family food. I had the pot roast special. It came in a bowl, with mash potatoes covered in beef and gravy, bread on the side. Interesting presentation, tasty but a little too salty. Service was very good and attentive. Overall solid experience and will come back.

I can't believe I just discovered The Piccadilly! Great food ! Great service! And adorable atmosphere! I had the short rib pot pie and oh my lord.....soooo good! Friends also raved about the fried chicken. My only regret was not going sooner when we could sit on the patio!

First seen this cute little gem only while driving through this nice neighborhood in the evening and this cute restaurant had its little outdoor lights draped over the eating area outside. It looked so charming so then and there I made a mental note to make a chance to come back and eat there. It took a year but we did! And it did not disappoint! The staff were very welcoming. And we sat covered outside eating area. And even though it was still hot outside for the evening, it was not hot in the area. They seem pretty known for their fried chicken and chicken pot pie. We each had the chicken and a friend of ours had the Mayfair Salad. We also had the onion rings. Everything was delicious. We are not ones to order fried chicken but apparently this is the place to do it and it did not disappoint! Felt like a good homey meal.

This place felt like an Ole timey place. The ice tea was good, AC not the best, everything made of wood. We had a little bit of a wait and felt very cramped at the bar and while moving between tables. I think this place attracts more of an older crowd as some of the food is like that overcooked/canned green beans kind which I was in the mood for so no complaints here. I had the smoked tuna steak and crackers as an appetizer which was very good. It was shredded and balled up for you to spread on crackers like a cheese ball. For my main I had the chicken pot pie. The filling was ok. It had a good amount of chicken in it. The best part was the breading. I enjoyed every bite of it. It's not a huge pot pie but it's not small either. Definitely recommend an appetizer to go with it if you're hungry. We had a good time and my wife was excited about her fried chicken and wants to come back, me not so much.

The chicken pot pie is like no other. Delicious. The staff here is seasoned and wonderful. I hadn't been here in a very long time and am so happy I thought to try it again. Highly recommend the pot pie!

This 125 year old restaurant serves delicious food coupled with amazing and friendly service in a well decorated cozy historic space!

Seafood pot pie. Devine. You MUST have one of their pot pies!

Other than our food coming almost all at once (salads, apps and entrees), this was an excellent experience. Our server, Maggie (but not the Maggie who Is one of the owners/founders) was pleasant and knowledgeable. Onion rings appetizer piping hot and sufficient volume but not very flavorful. B. Salad really all lettuce with parmesan and red onion, but the dressings were superb. Sesame ginger and Mayfair dressing quite good. B+. My entree, the seafood pot pie, extraordinarily good. Abundant, buttery crust simply devine. They drop a large square of layered and flaky dough onto a round ceramic pot, leaving four triangular ears that bake wonderfully and can be folded into the pot by the diner. Seafood abundant and broth deliciously reminiscent of lobster bisque. So outstanding and delicious. Wife had fish sandwich. Fried swai which was very good and French fries that were good but not great. Dessert another standout. Blackberry cobbler. Definitely made in house and simply devine. Crust flaky, buttery. Blackberries cooked to perfection in what they said was a simple sugar solution but which we found hauntingly complex and appealing. Amazing. Street parking. Interior comfortably decorated, snug but not too crowded. Furniture comfortable. We declined the chance to sit on the patio so can't comment on that seating area. 84$ with one beer, salads, app, 2 entrees and dessert, before tip, I consider a bargain given the high quality. Appears to be 100% woman owned and staffed, which I found cool. This one is not to be missed.

Pork steak so tender we could cut it with a fork!

We will absolutely be back! The food is homestyle cooking! The service was very fast and she knew her stuff! The place is a small restuarant with alot of history to it! I cant wait to go back to try the salads!

It is a Trojan horse for one of the best burgers in St. Louis (my wife says I'm being dramatic for calling it THE best; I say I am not NOT going back for another). We enjoyed everything we order: the pork belly burnt ends and cashew chicken wings, and a coffee & cardamom old fashioned that sounds like a personality disorder but tastes like a vibe, smoky, a touch sweet, and very drinkable year-round. The Sam Elliott burger, BBQ sauce, bacon, crunchy onions, brioche, is named for a man who has never disappointed anyone, and neither does the sandwich. And the meatloaf is NOT your grandma's brick: tender, charred at the edges, laid over silky mashed potatoes with broccolini, perhaps closer to a chop steak than a loaf in the best possible way. Vibe is farm-chic: old church pews, repurposed interior doors, a proper bar up front, plus a patio and rooftop for when the weather cooperates. Fun fact -- it's named after the blue duck Billy Madison paints in elementary school, which is a fantastic piece of trivia and tells you absolutely nothing accurate about the actual restaurant. 4.7 Stars. Picking Nits: the counter-order setup is efficient, but it sets expectations in the wrong direction for the first 90 seconds, you brace for fast-casual and instead get something considerably more ambitious. Food comes out fast once you've ordered, which is great if you're hungry and slightly jarring if you wanted a slow, lingering dinner. And the Billy Madison naming is charming trivia but entirely misleading as a vibe preview, no complaints about the actual restaurant, just the branding expectations it sets. If The Blue Duck were a character: Ron Swanson. Hear me out. If Ron ate here, he'd be suspicious of the entire experience until his first bite of protein -- the counter ordering, the repurposed doors, a burger named after a fellow mustachioed American, all of it registering as potentially too clever. Then the Sam Elliott hits his plate, he takes one bite, and the skepticism dissolves into the quiet respect of a man who has found his people. Looks rustic. Has strong feelings about meat. Secretly sophisticated -- plays saxophone in a jazz club under a fake name, builds his own furniture, would 100% approve of the farm-chic decor once the protein has spoken. Presents as simple. Isn't.

Not only were we not granted an exception on the checks as consolation for not being able to order french fries, there was no indication that this had even occurred to our server. This is precisely the level of temerity we need to inculcate in young women in our society, and I'd encourage her to apply for a job at the women's-only sports bar a few doors down if and when it ever opens. It'd be tragic if she wasn't there if and when I return, but I'd appreciate the fact that she has a greater mission. Hopefully, the deep fryer is working. It being out of commission naturally limited the number of things on the menu we could order. We were only told that we couldn't order anything that required a deep fryer, not given a modified menu or anything. I started going through each item and imagining how it might be prepared, but I couldn't muster the psychological bandwidth to continue. Hit my Cash App if you appreciate the amount of unpaid emotional labor I was compelled to contribute. It occurred to me that I might just get a burger and a side salad, but then I saw that they carry a club sandwich. I love a good club sandwich, and I figured it might make for a light, refreshing alternative, given the weather. There's an option to get a cup of soup for $1.50 extra as a side with your sandwich (no, they didn't offer to eat the charge), and I figured that might go well with my sandwich. I was kicking myself when they brought out someone else's order with the side salad. It looked really good. The Frisco Burger, or whatever they're calling it, looked good too. Meanwhile, the BBQ Beef & Cheddar Soup--the soup du jour (that's French), according to Flo--looked gross, like something your dog might cough up. But damn it was good! It was more beef than anything else. A large bowl of it might actually be too much food. (I'd still eat it, natch.) The overall flavor profile was along the lines of a good french onion soup. It was a reminder that I need to be ordering soup in restaurants more often. I wish the club sandwich was cut into little triangles and fanned out on the plate in some elaborate configuration, like at a place where rich old ladies have lunch, but I guess that wouldn't have been in keeping with the theme. Instead, it was served on the world's thickest Texas toast, with the world's dullest steak knife protruding from its center. This sounds like hyperbole, but I may have honestly been served the equivalent of half a loaf of bread. It was much more bread than I required, but at least it was fresh and delicious, as were all the other ingredients. Turkey used for sandwiches is almost never remarkable, but this was surprisingly great, as good as anything you'd get served as an entree unto itself. Nothing about this place suggests that it would have such good food, but it just goes to show you can't judge a book by its cover. The decor, the overall vibe and the lack of hospitality might not be for everyone, but don't let that deter you.
