I came in on 4/25/2026 to take the FSC test. The gentleman at the front desk was very helpful and I was able to easily and efficiently complete the test. The 1-star rating comes from my experience at the gun counter to receive my certificate. I waited close to 45 minutes despite the store being almost empty. And during this 45-minute wait, one of the employees behind the gun counter flagged me and another gentleman multiple times while handling a 9mm pistol! This is unacceptable, especially since it was an employee. NEVER point a firearm at anything or anyone you are not willing to destroy, and it does not matter if it was accidental. One of the 4 basic safety rules of handling firearms and a Turner's employee working the gun counter broke that rule. If a manager of Turner's is reading this, please reach out to me. Who ever was working the front desk on 4/9/2026 was horrible. I kept calling asking for Wilson combat 10 rds if they had it. He put me on hold for 8 mins the first time. I'm not so sure why this Turners location in Orange has such a bad rating. I have been coming here for many years since before this new location and it was at the old location down the street. I, personally, have never had a problem with any of the staff except when they were slamming busy, and it was literally a 10-15-person line at the counter. That has happened, but it is fairly rare in my experience. Only when the "chicken-little-syndrome" people are running around screaming "they are gonna take our guns next week, buy everything you can." Service has always been good for me. Most of the people that I have interacted with have been current or retired LEO, life-long hunters or fisherman, all knowledgeable and helpful. Turners has a good selection of guns, ammo, fishing gear, targets and accessories. Most are competitively and fairly priced. The only reason for the 4-star and not 5-star rating is because it takes forever to get someone on the phone when you call and that occasionally (like around the holidays) they run out of popular items like 9mm cleaning kits, certain scopes or red-dot sights, certain weight fishing line, spools, etc... So, occasional staffing and inventory issues, but nothing terrible. Turners is my first go-to spot just based upon the sheer variety of things that they have that smaller shops don't carry. This store has a wonderful selection in all things hunting and fishing. They have an apparel section as well. Hats and sunglasses too. They also have a nice selection of knives. If you're interested in looking at the firearms, make sure you grab a numbered ticket. When an associate calls out your number, it is your turn to be helped. Staff are very knowledgeable. There are tons of accessories for both fishing and firearms. Ammo is available for purchase here. Things are a bit pricey, but that's to be expected with such quality items. read more

Is 3:49 PM this Saturday of January 2025. Contacted TURNER's because I have a couple firearms up for sale. Initially the phone call was friendly and I asked is there a difference between firearms or purchase in Arizona to California? The young man continued stating no bring it in. We purchased all kinds of firearms and I asked if there's a manager on duty to give me an appraisal young man said yes.. I show up follow the instructions he gave me firearms have to be unloaded. Mags have to be unloaded and separated in a bag or lockbox and approach the cashier first waited for about 15 minutes. Manager asked me for my license. I gave him my Arizona license like I expressed over the phone That I'm from Arizona and I purchased his guns in Arizona. He continued explaining he can't even look at the guns because I do not have a California license or ID. I suggested to the manager you might want to mention that over the phone before you make people drive 30 minutes to your store. Sarcastically, he replied, "it's also California law." I said I am not aware of the California law that's why Ileen on you guys as the professionals. Again, sarcastically, "well I'm not an attorney so I don't know. " Now, why would you want to pop an attitude with a customer? What do you get out of that having an attitude being a smart Alec maybe he feels tough? Maybe he's in the back of the store talking smack how he got one over a customer? I don't know? So where did that leave the situation? Well, I will never do business Turner. I know 13 out of my employees are also guys that are fond of firearms that I could easily referred if I had a good experience My suggestion to upper management sit him down write him up look at the cameras and ask him. "How could you have approach that differently? How can you have responded differently? " He thought I would've responded : Oh my goodness I apologize Mr. Customer. We go through great lengths to give everyone 100% customer service. I have been buying guns and ammunition at this place for years. My four brothers, two brothers-in-law, and my son, all of whom hold firearms licenses, were introduced to this store by me; I got them to buy their guns and all their gear here. I had never returned anything before, but today I went in to return a magazine that I hadn't opened, as well as a holster that one of the salespeople had opened because I asked him to test-fit a pistol inside it to ensure it was the correct size. The store manager started making excuses right away--first regarding the magazine, questioning why I was returning it. Then, regarding the holster, he refused to accept the return, claiming it showed signs of a pistol having been inserted into it. I tried to explain to him that it was his salesperson who had done that, not me, but he still insinuated that I was lying to him. He was quite condescending toward me and made me feel as though I were committing fraud by attempting to return an item I had already used. I will never return to this store, and I intend to tell my brothers, brothers-in-law, and son about this terrible experience so that they, too, will stop coming here. No, I do not recommend this place; if you ever need to exchange or return an item, they will treat you like a criminal and refuse to give you a refund. read more

Walked in 10 mins after opening. The Small Caucasian man working at the firearms counter is rude af. He saw me and made eye contact as I walked up and waited to be helped. Instead of having some customer service skills and saying please take a number I'll be right with you, he saw me waiting and called the next person. Mind you the store is pretty much empty and I wasn't aware of the take a number to be helped policy. I said to him "I was already here and didn't know about the number system." He replied "well NOW we're busy so yea we have numbers" (store has literally 4 ppl in the building) and proceed to help ppl who arrived after me. I believe this guy to be a manager and honestly he's a huge POS, even his employees said it in front of me when he wasn't around. I went four times, wasting hours trying to complete a simple process, only to be met with extremely poor customer service, constant understaffing, and zero communication. When I finally tried to get a refund, I waited over an hour for a manager who never showed up, while staff kept giving empty promises. Management openly berates and humiliates cashiers in front of customers, creating a toxic environment and explaining why service is so incompetent. I escalated the issue to corporate and the district manager, and unsurprisingly, nothing was resolved. no accountability, no apology, no help. This isn't a "bad day", it's systemic mismanagement, disrespectful staff treatment, and total disregard for customers. Going on my first deep-sea fishing trip for three days in San Diego at the end of the month and I need some waterproof jacket some hoodie, SPF protection, waterproof yada yada yada plus the black belt to hold my fishing pole Nicolas V was amazing. I usually never write reviews, but I absolutely had to give a huge shout-out to Derick! He was incredible from start to finish. Derick took his time, explained everything so clearly, and made my very first experience with a shotgun and rifle super comfortable and easy to understand. What I loved the most is that he didn't rush me at all -- unlike some experiences I've had at other stores. You can tell he really cares about helping customers, and that kind of service is rare these days. I honestly hope his store manager and district manager recognize what a superstar they have. I live near the Norwalk store, but I will happily drive the extra miles just to come here because of Derick. His customer service is top-notch and truly sets the tone for the whole store. Decent selection of guns. Overall their actual customer service is decent. The reason I'm personally giving them such a low rating is because of the HOURS of waiting. They take about 30 minutes to 1 hour per customer. Even to pick up the weapon after you've already done the purchase and paperwork, it still takes 2-3 hours to pick up a gun. I came at 10:40am and by the time they got to my number to help me it was 1:30pm. And it took them another 30 minutes to hand me my gun I get that you want to build a connection with your clients but I was able to know intimate details of all the customers (where they work, where they live, how many family they have, where their families work, where you typically go to vacation, etc) just because that is how long they take talking to customers. If you're serious about buying a gun and don't need the extra touch of someone knowing all your personal information, I'd say give your business to a local gun shop this place is for those people that need to talk to someone about their personal life and have a hours to waste. read more

The folks at the cash register were very friendly, the manager was real friendly, and guys at the firearms counter were very knowledgeable and great to talk to. Turn around time for all the paper work was relatively quick, I've never purchased a firearm in CA in less than 1.5hrs. Today I picked up my first shotgun. I had an excellent experience at Turners, thanks to the incredible service provided by Joseph. From the moment I walked in, they greeted me warmly and took the time to understand exactly what I was looking for and answer all my questions. His knowledge about firearms, safety, and local regulations was truly impressive. He patiently answered all my questions and gave me tips on proper maintenance and handling. It's close to home and I do use this store. They carry a pretty good supply of ammo, but it is not a Bass Pro or Sportsman's Warehouse.

Sales associate said they price match, but they are pretty restricted and that I should talk to a manager. I waited patiently for a manager. When I got a manager, I showed him the pellet gun on Crossman.com for 149.99. They had an open box in the store for 239.99. I asked what he could do, and he said, "we don't wheel and deal." Basically told me to pound sand and order online. Like, dude...you've got an open box that I'll take for MSRP...not exactly a deal and more me just not wanting to light money on fire to support a local business. They've got a limited stock here and I would hate to see a local store go under. But...that's crazy. I imagine they stay in business as a FFL for first time gun buyers...at least this branch. Also, I'm not sure how they choose managers. The sales associate was way more "manager like" than the two kids with black shirts on. Maybe the owner's son and his buddy? Real bad vibes. read more

My entire experience in this store was horrible. The manager himself was very unprofessional, and I felt that I was an inconvenience to him when I asked questions. Another representative was helping me when rudely, a customer inquired whether or not I had a number in which I replied, I did. At no time did anyone correct this rude customer and informed them that I would be before him. The manager did not want to be inconvenienced and wasn't showing me how to properly handle the weapon that I was interested in purchasing and did not provide enough information to make me want to purchase it I ended up not purchasing any weapons whatsoever. It's customer service like this that makes you resent that this is a franchise with no human customer service feel whatsoever. The gentleman I bought the gun from was really easy to work with but the amount of time you have to wait just to work with an employee after their long drawn out stories that are irrelevant to a sale is disheartening. Not to mention the fact that when they sold me a slightly upgraded Glock... They miss installed an aftermarket sight using set screws that are too long thus obstructing the front sight from view. And totally they incorrectly installed the holosun sight, so it's slide was failing to eject intermittently (even after spending over 500 rounds for break in to be eliminated) When I called in and spoke to two separate employees (including floor manager) they both insisted the responsibility is solely up to me and the original manufacture of the parts to solve the malfunction. Luckily Tacfire took the slide and found Turners mistakenly installed screws were jamming the ejector spring and could have been avoided. read more
