THIS PLACE IS A LOCAL GEM!!!! As someone who is here in Illinois for vacation and lives in California, this pool is all you will need!! The pools in Cali are so much worse!!! While today was a bit chaotic, the staff was still extremely respectful and mindful, whether there was vomit in the pool or a fire drill. The slides and activities definitely make up for it. Turtle Splash was definitely designed for babies and young children!!! whether it was the playground that comes with the pool or the small slide where your child can enjoy a quick slide into the water The food situation is a bit strict... They are quite stern on the no food allowed, all food that you buy in the food court must be eaten there, and no outside food allowed in at all (you can come in and out of the pool as you please to eat your food from home!!) We tried the food at the restaurant,t and while you can definitely tell it's just frozen food, it's probably the best frozen food there is!!! (slightly overpriced though...) My 2 children and I all had the corn dog, and we all liked it, and I tried the smoothie, and it was not good at all... But the ice cream selection is quite good!! The changing rooms are a bit bare-bones, and there are lockers that I believe you can rent at the front of the pool, but we just took our stuff with us. CAUTION!!! IT GETS EXTREMELY SLIPPERY IN THERE, SO WALK WITH CAUTION!!! They weren't the most sanitary, and there was trash on the floor, but it wasn't terrible. The staff was OK; some lifeguards cared about their jobs, and some didn't give a sh-, with any pool, it was run by high schoolers, but they were all mostly respectful. There was a supervisor named Bill who asked my children if they were having fun, and Bill was one of the few who cared for his job, he was the only staff memeber that was over the age of 30, lol, there was also this lifeguard, if i remember his name correctly his name was Peter, he was at the bottem of the slides and he always asked me and my kids if we were OK after going down. One time on the Tube Slide me and my 4 year old daughter flipped, and he wasted no time grabbing my daughter ASAP so she wouldn't go under (the current is EXTREMELY STRONG). But some lifeguards just stand there like a post and don't move. Shame on them!! It was very packed today, and we still managed to have a lot of fun! There aren't a lot of lawn chairs, and of those, very few are shaded,d but there is a big spot of grass with umbrellas and trees where you can set up base! You can't bring your own chairs or chairs from the pool,l but a blanket is fair game! Pack one just in case their isnt any seats!! Overall, if I lived in the West Chicago Area, I would be a regular at this pool!!! If anyone is on the fence about going to this pool, I highly suggest going!! read more

This waterpark 9/10 The water temperature isn't freezing cold, and this is perfect for little ones as it includes: Waterpark, splash pad, and park all within the same side. The only downside is you cannot take outside food in. I would love to go next year and many years after. read more

Wish I could leave 0 stars. Went to this waterpark for the first time and my friend was nursing her son. We had a supervisor approach us and say she could not nurse her son because that would be considered having a "foreign substance" in the pool? Clearly they do not know the nursing laws. We had our sons birthday here the other day. For about $225 you get to invite 20 people, get five pizza's, four 2-liters of soda and each kid gets ice cream. You also get your own closed-off area so that you can stash gifts, balloons, whatever have you. They also have a hostess bring out the food and drinks and help you with things. That portion was great, the private area (which is outside and near the main pool) was very beneficial. The pool itself really couldn't be better. My son is eight but the water options include a pool that ranges from inches of water to 6ft. Inside the regular pool they have a large smaller children's play area with falling water, a slide and other things to play around with. Nearby they also have an an area where you can walk through two separate water falls, a small children's slide and jump off the side..through the waterfall. A rope divides the shallow and deep sections at 4ft, so the kids naturally gravitate towards their end of capability. Off to the side they also have four different slide options. The first slide starts up in a tower and you body slide down a covered tube that moves pretty fast. The tube itself is pretty long so this was a popular choice for my kiddo and his buddies. The other slides are on a separate tower. There, you can choose to go down in a tube either solo or double, or down the third slide without an inner tube. These tubes are all half pipe and when you sway from one side to another you feel like you're going to fly right over a side. These slides are shorter but just as cool as the large, covered slide. Although birthday parties are relegated to an hour and a half, that only means that you have the designated party area for that time frame. They allow you and your guests to arrive at any time and leave at any time, without an extra charge. Last but not least, when having a party here you can add on as many guests as you want (above the 20) and they get in for the reduced price of $5. All in all I think we had close to 40 people for my sons birthday party and you just can't beat what we received and a great day at the pool. read more

Turtle Splash is my favorite. I was there as part of camp while 1 on 1 with a kiddo. My guy adores the pool supervisor, Bill. He'd seek him out to spend time with him. Even better, Bill took the time to watch my guy swim while on duty. Yesterday (Thursday) was our last day of camp and Bill had the day off. My kiddo was disappointed but still enjoyed the pool. While we were swimming, a call was made by one of the camp counselors (she deserves her own shout-out!). Bill took the time on his day off to come visit my kiddo at the pool. It made his day and his mom loved hearing about it. I hope the ARC staff are reading this because Bill is the best. Thanks so much for creating that moment. read more

I promised myself this year I was going to come to turtle splash and I did! What a better place to enjoy swimming and going down the. Water slides but nothing better with my son Mike. He spent time with me a had a lot of fun and sun burned too. My son gave me a lot of encouragement to go down in the cute inflatable boats I was screaming all the way down. We were coming full force because our weight I thought we were going to kill the life guard. What was funny neither of us could get out the tube so I pleaded to the life guard can you please help us so after giving her a huge scare she just simply flipped our boat and we Shiites out of it. I had fun unfortunately I gain way too much weight I could not make it to do a lap and this sport. Is my forte. I enjoy every bit of it read more

I have been visiting this pool for YEARS and each year it gets worse and worse! Likes: -close to home -reasonably priced Dislikes: -dirty dressing room / bathrooms -hair clogs the sink -toilet paper all over the floor -dirty diapers thrown about the floor -have actually seen FECES on the floor in the shower area -little shade / very few canopies -few lounge chairs -have seen FECES in this pool too many times too count -staff are rude searching my bags like I am a criminal & yet food (crackers and chips) litter the ground -food court is over priced & is run by teenagers that are rude and disorganized -life guards seem to want their tans more then helping swimmers -never see anyone with any authority running the place -not all patrons are wearing suits or diaper covers (hence the feces problem) -sand area is a like a giant litter box -I have seen kids pee in the bushes that line the pool area Even though I live very close I visit a pool out of town that is much cleaner and the staff are friendly and organized and I have no fear of my child & I getting diseases from the dirty locker rooms or feces floating any where near us! I went back the next day & enjoyed my visit. I still don't like the time outs, but I did need some breaks. Lol. The staff was even nicer the 2nd time around. Place doesn't follow their own rules. Lifeguards let shorter kids go down the slide but wouldn't let other kids at 40" mark go because he can do a lap in the pool. Don't waist your money if your kids is not way above 40" mark. Also rude staff. read more

Very disappointed!! I paid 40 dollars to bring 4 teenage grandchildren to Turtle Splash at 130 in the afternoon. The deep pool closed at 3 for lifeguard drills and because water was cloudy. I asked if we could get a pass after waiting 2 hours for it to reopen. A smug guy named Jeremy at the front desk said NOPE. He was rude! It was a waste 0f 40 dollars. I hold a season pass and thought I should of at least been respected. Next year I will get a season pass in Wheaton! read more

The pool and park are amazing and fun. Come early if you want a seat though, because they're limited. Biggest problem was the concession stand, which was out of quite a bit by 3pm and took FOREVER to even order in a short line. The other issue was they didn't allow puddle jumper floaties or life jackets in the deep end of the pool... What why?! read more

I would say that in comparison to other pools around the DuPage County area, this one is my favorite, and it has nothing to do with the fact that I live in West Chicago. I love pools, but the only reason I would go to a water park filled with wild and screaming children is because I have a child myself. In saying that, my family always has a great time, so buying a pool pass for the year or paying $8 bucks for admission is worth it. I owe my first sunburn of the year to Turtle Splash (and my lack of awesome sunscreen). We took the 7 year old here yesterday and met up with her step and half siblings for a day in the sun! SO much to do here, great cheap price to get in (check for groupons!) and even the concession booth was reasonable! I'm from Oak Park, where the pool will charge you as much as it possibly can for entrance and a bite to eat, this was refreshing. Well worth the cost and the skin cancer I will later develop. I think the tube slide was my favorite, where you grab a friend or go by yourself down the slide in an innertube, then crash into the life guard in the landing pool. As a former Ellis lifeguard I was happy to see the guards scanning, standing, and being pretty attentive. However, there were some very inexperienced guards, unclear on the rules, (consulting other guards across the pool for basics) unable to use their whistles, and please, if you have a megaphone, don't whisper into it, shout! I have purchased passes to this pool for almost 16 years. This year, I did not. Last summer was the straw that broke the camels back. I saw feces on so many occasions, it should be a crime. The food court is run by kids, who have no idea what is going on. The bathrooms are FILTHY! Poop everywhere, diapers littering the ground, overflowing trash cans, hair clogging the sinks. I should feel cleaner after washing my hands, not DIRTIER!! The sand at the bottom of the pool is crazy, way too much. Need a watchful eye on kids leaving the sand to go to the pool. I hate the idea of people searching my bags. Got a search warrant?? No food allowed in, and you searched my bag (without the warrant) and yet I see people eating food everywhere! I am now visiting a pool in nearby St. Charles, and I feel like I am in Beverly Hills. Clean, friendly, clean, clean, clean!! Also, this pool is really aimed at younger kids. Not a large deep area for older kids. Very small deep, lap area. Maybe fits 10-15 teens. read more

This place is awesome, considering it's in West Chicago.. Anyways, perfect for families of all ages. All big slides are minimum 40" which was perfect for my son, he had his first experience on the big tube slides and tunnel slides, which is cool for adults too. The only way I go here is with a Groupon, otherwise it's a little pricey all around, including the food and can get so overcrowded you have no where to safely place your belongings. read more

I am only giving it this because my kids LOVE it. Which is really what this place is for... Kids! They of course are fearless and love the big slide. My son loves waiting for that big bucket to fill and dump. There is no room to do any real swimming (not that I would anyway), as on any nice summer day, it's packed... Things I don't care for; 1) The staff. Most are teens, teens who one have never had much life experience in ANYTHING, much less having them telling me what to do. For example, I sat down on one of the plasti-rocks on a pseudo-island by the slides, to watch my smaller child come down the slide and was immediate told by some 15 year old girl as a *lifeguard* who weighs maybe 80 pounds soaking wet, that I can't sit there. Seriously? I can stand there, but I can't SIT there?? Uhh ok sweetheart! 2) Bag checks? Really? 3) Not enough chairs, much less shade to sit in. read more

This is a great park for all ages. They do have a little kid section which is a climbing thing with water spurting out and there's a big bucket on top that fills up and dumps. They have 3 waterslides and plenty of lifeguards near them. The admission price is a bargain for what you get. It's only $8 a person. If you check into other area pools, they jack up the admission price to discourage nonresidents from attending and encourage pool pass purchases. Minus a star for the water and icky factor. All of the pools I've been to, you pay your admission and are forced to walk through the locker room, exiting poolside. If you don't shower before you get in the water, at least they tried. Not this one. You pay, walk through the dining area and right to the pool. I didn't like that. There was also a cloudiness to the water and lots of debri. It might have something to do with the recent storm we had so I'm not making a major case out of it. read more

This was a good time for kids young and old. The pool has a number of kids watersides that drop into shorter depth do you can let the little ones do as they please. There is a deeper pool for the swimmers to work on their strokes and a tube and body slide for a bit more speed. All in all a fun day for a fraction of cost of some of the larger parks. read more

I would have given this fun, economical water park 5 stars except ... ... the toilets in the men's bathroom were filthy. ... the concrete patio in the cafe area was dirty and had areas with mulch and debris, which the young man sweeping did not even bother to address. ...the tables in the cafe area were dirty. Staff were friendly. I was impressed by the number of attentive lifeguards encircling the pool, including one or two always at the bottom of the water slides. Jumbo spilling water bucket; waterfall; three big water slides; large, zero-depth pool area, sprinklers, small slides, other water toys; and a great playground outside the water all provide a lot of fun for toddlers to teens. Management seemed to have a good control of safety, but a poor control of cleanliness, especially in the restrooms and cafe, where it matters most. read more

We were not even asking for a refund. 3 kids were so disappointed after being kicked out 5 minutes after paying and entering the park. They barely got wet. My daughters and I absolutely love this waterpark! It's excellent for little kids and parents. It's clean, not too big, has great parking, and the admission is very reasonable. It's a bit of a drive from Chicago, but it makes for a really nice all-day outing if you plan well and pack lunch, snacks, and maybe something to eat before starting th drive home. They're located on a nice, large park by the West Chicago Park District, which makes it a great location to have a picnic when you need a break from the water. read more

Honest review: this is more for kids this is not for adults. Like theres kids everywhere no room to swim at all. The bathroom at pools always gonna be dirty this wasnt so bad as i thought it was gonna be they still need to clean it better though. The pools dirty like theres leaves and shit in it like all their employees just standing there they need to clean. I would avoid the orange slide because when i went it kept making noises and wobbles and its old so it might collapse. There needs to be more chairs cause there arent any. Didnt try the food cause ik pool food sucks so ya of course they need to update that. I would come again cause its cheap just wish they would clean it better and theres no lazy river :( read more

We normally wouldn't drive an hour away for a water park but they had an excellent deal on Groupon so we gave it a chance. So glad we did! We went on a Friday when the place opened and it was nearly empty most of the day thanks to storms and overcast conditions. The park was very clean. The staff was attentive and vigilant without being aggressive and cranky. They were also very helpful with the little kids coming down the water slide which I appreciated. We had four families in our group and we all agreed that if they had a coffee shop we would move in! This will go down as one of our best experiences of summer and I would totally do it again-even for full price! read more

Hidden gem in West Chicago. Fun features for kids including zero depth, dump bucket on fun playground in the water, mini kids slides. There is also bigger slides for older kids and adults. During break, kids can go to sand pit, climbing thing, swings, slides not in pool. The place is always very clean and the staff is super nice. I see a lot of kids having birthday parties there, which is held in a separate fenced off area just next to pool. read more

So disappointed! ! I am sick and rarely well enough to do much, especially take my daughter to a waterpark. I knew we wouldnt be there long so we were looking for somewhere close and cheap. Next time I will just shoot for close! My daughter is six so she was pretty happy with the mini pool that swirls around, the lazy river and the slide in the little kids area! When we got there we were told that my tall six year old was too short for ANY of the slides, except the toddler one which is barely a slide. We doesn't see that anywhere online so that was disappointing. The lifeguards were the worst I have ever seen! I was a lifeguard many years ago as a teenager so I am so aware that it is a thankless job, also a super important one. With the large amount of children there they would be better served ensuring that they are doing regular scans and cross scans rather than motioning at grown adults when they want them to do something. I literally had a lifeguard in the lazy river area following on the side of the river two feet away for several minutes motioning at me like he was a baseball pitcher. I asked over and over what he was saying and he wouldn't utter a single word or mouth anything even. Eventually I realized he wanted our double tube facing vertical, not horizontal. That would have taken two seconds verbally. I again had a lifeguard yelling at me in the swirl pool to turn around and not go backwards. ...really? ? It was like some weird power trip. Not worth the change I saved and the extra long drive to get there. The park was extremely crowded to the point you could barely walk in the pools. We didn't get even one seat until we were there for several hours! A lifeguard interrogated me about having food in my diaper bag, which I did not. They insisted on searching it, but I didn't allow! The bathrooms were extremely dirty and smelled strongly of urine and feces. There was a lot of liter and garbage throughout the pool area. The actual pool was dirty as well. There were a lot of leaves floating around and sand on the floor of the pool. My son saw poop floating. We told the lifeguard an exact location, but they did nothing to retrieve it!!!!!Also, when they closed the pool at 8, they did not allow my children to change or even use the bathroom. One of my daughters made it in the bathroom at 7:58, but they didn't allow my other daughter to accompany her. While getting changed, two men walked in to clean with no warning!! She was very freaked! Needless to say, I will not be returning to Turtle Splash. read more
