I went to this water two days ago with a pass and they welcomed my family in with such class at 12 noon. we had a good time. we come back two days later and was met with inconsistency and could not even get a warm welcome. They didn't let us in and we had the same pass and came at the same time as two days ago. I have no problem with rules but I do have an issue with a business not being ran with consistency. Being in customer service means you don't get to have a bad day while you are at work. Maybe the third time will be a charm. read more

Came for one day of fun, next thing you know, I'm a season pass holder. For the price of a non resident adult it's $17, $11 if you're a resident. After 5pm it's drops to $14 NR and $9 R. It's worth it especially if you come often. There are plenty of seating and big umbrellas for shade. Favorite part about the pool is the adult swim time in Dolphin Cove from 11-12:30pm daily. The pool goes up to 5 feet deep and it's where we all walk in a circle creating a giant whirl pool. Sometimes I like to walk against the current for some resistance. There are also 3 lap lanes if you prefer to swim. Adult time is also at Splashdown and the pool is 12' deep. I see they provide some equipment and paddle boards too for water exercises. Ask the lifeguard office for it. When adult swim is over it's fun to see all the kids jumping in screaming, and the adults slowly making their way out. Hurricane cove is another fun area with whirl pool, gator crossing, fountains and sprayers. Nice place for all ages but it can get a little busy. The shallow end is a nice place to get your feet wet and catch some sun too. The red Sidewinder water slide is slower and curvier, which I prefer. While the yellow Pipeline slide is an enclosed speed slide. Another fun slide is The Bowl Slide. Round and round ya go than the slide drops into 8 feet of water! Diving area is at Splashdown, which drops into 12′ of water. There you will find a low dive, high dive, and drop slide. There is a concession stand for basic snacks. Pretzels, nachos, bosco sticks, ice cream, etc. They also sell sunblock if you forget yours. Bathrooms are decent with changing stalls and showers. Lockers are provided but you must bring your own lock. Plenty of free parking too! read more

Paradise bay and Lombard police department showed no mercy or comcern for my daughter getting jumped in the woman's restroom by a mother, her daughter and nephew to my 11 year old daughter. Brutal attack. And no consequences were given. Justice needs to be served. On 6/19 my 11 year old daughter was attacked and they show no concern or mercy what's so ever !! 5 stars if you are under 13 and enjoy outdoor swimming, splash pools, and water slides. 3 stars if you are a grown-up who just paid the $15 non-resident daily fee hoping to swim laps on your lunch hour. That doesn't work at all!! Don't come here for that purpose or you'll be annoyed. So an average of 4 stars. I arrived at 12:45 -pool opens to non-passholders at 12;30; so, I was hopeful to get in a quick swim on my lunch hour. I asked when I paid, "You have lap lanes, right?" And was told "yes". But the lady didn't say the lap lanes were filled with children. The life guards do not keep the lanes clear for swimmers. At one point, I counted 9 children plus an adult in just one of the three lap lanes, my lane. I'm happy to share a lane with other swimmers or folks walking laps or exercising. I do it all the time at my health club. But no chance to swim more than a few feet with 11 people in a lane and more kids diving over lanes. I had to simply walk quarter laps and do some exercises in the deep end- while dodging kick boards being thrown and children leaping into the pool nearly landing on me. Bonkers. Lockers don't have coin locks, so plan ahead. Overall clean for a large public pool. Plenty of lounge chairs. There is a gender neutral/family changing room available immediately to the left of the check in counter. That's great. The women's locker room was clean but crowded. Overall, very disappointed they closed their pool for fall so incredibly early - August 9th! It's not fall yet. Not a resident of Lombard, so we paid a premium for summer passes. Not sure if we will again. Staff is slow to make sure different areas are used correctly, for example, lap lanes. Very frustrating trying to swim laps when a group of kids are playing "Marco polo" in them. Also, saw a number of clientele vaping in the open pool area without reprimand. They also had serious issues with checking patrons in. Seemed like a lot of staff were sitting around while people with summer passes were waiting in VERY long lines with people who were paying for day passes. read more

Non-resident feedback, management can be improved and their staff is not as friendly as you would expect for the price one pays. No signs nor did the staff mention when we paid that the pool closes at 5-6:30 for swimming lessons. Came in at 3pm so for a family of 4 we paid $56 for 2 hours. Rules are a tad ridiculous. Family restrooms are not clean and not properly stocked. When we tried to get the staff attention once again they ignored us. Formally called Lombard Commons, this place definitely got a make over. They have some large slides now (including a bowl slide!), a kiddie pool where all the adults go lay at (you can lay out at the zero-depth entrance, tan and keep cool with water surrounding you) a regular "adult" pool and much more. Check out their website. While I was there, I noticed that they don't have adult swim anymore?!?! I was looking forward to the 10 minutes of a kid/piss free pool!! WTF =0 You do have to watch though, for kids swimming underwater and swimming into your legs. I didn't go to the diving board, I'm a wuss, but it def looked fun. As far as the kiddie pool, I thought it was pretty nice. Like a playground in the water, I know cause I explored. The older kids didn't really mix with the younger ones, they keep pre-occupied with the slides. This is a good thing because I was able to relax in the kiddie pool without anyone screaming bloody murder. The staff is nice and very attentive. I went during the scorching weather we had this year and the staff made sure that everyone got out of the pool for a while and kept hydrated. They even provided coolers with ice cold water for free! I was pretty impressed. For those that want to swim laps, the staff also made sure that the lanes were clear of the kiddies. I'd recommend this for families of all sizes and people of all ages. I used to go there when it was Lombard Commons and I will continue to be a regular at this place. read more

Came here over labor day weekend since I heard about this place while I was on vacation and for the fact it was close to where we were staying at. Waterpark is very clean and sanitary upon arrival. What I love about this place the most is that it's big,spacious and there's a ton of activities to do throughout the duration of our visit. Concession stand is way overpriced though. Please wear flip flops because the ground is really hot at times. read more

I have to say, you don't really realize how lucky we are to live in the Chicago area until you Google the ridiculous number of cute pools and water parks in the area. My husband and I were out in the burbs doing another excursion and needed to find a pool afterward nearby. I searched and found this one. Very cute -a decent amount of people but not crazy crowded. I signed 3 of my kids up for swimming lessons (5 lessons for $105). The first 3 lessons (and a makeup) were cancelled due to weather. With only 2 classes left in the session (with no lessons completed) I requested a refund. I was denied a refund and told that what my kids will learn in the remaining lessons (not a total of 5) would justify the payment. I politely disagreed stating I paid for 5 lessons (45 min for each) and since I would not receive them I would like a refund. So instead (barring tomorrow's weather), I will have paid $105 for 2 lessons instead of 5. Management needs to read up on customer service. I will be sure to inform others of this poor service and warn them about not being able to receive refunds for classes cancelled. read more

A splashy good time, especially if you have kids, can borrow one, or are a kid at heart. I come to the adjacent Lombard Community Building twice a week for exercise classes, so I've been eying this pool/water park for nearly a year. We have an almost-8-year old in the family who is very active, loves water slides and pools and anything that lets him spend time with us, so we thought this would be a great place to bring him. It's a nice, shiny, clean facility and you can tell it's pretty new. The main pool is zero-depth entry and large, with water features, a whirlpool, a big water-fountain like feature, rope crossing, etc plus three big water slides that my husband and the kiddo went on over and over and over. There's also a lap pool, a dive well with two diving boards and a small slide (that just shoots you straight into the water) and a kiddie area for the really small ones. Add plenty of seating, a snack bar area, good changing areas and some grass and shade if you get there early enough and it's a good time for the fam. A few tips: *if you're a resident, make sure you bring proof. We haven't changed our driver's licenses yet, but a ComEd bill was sufficient. *If you sit in the lounge chairs directly in front of the water spouts at the edge of the big pool, realize that you may get splashed when kids sit on/play with the spouts (they can shoot pretty far, I learned!) *lockers are available, but you need to bring your own lock. *you can get your hand stamped and go in and out. if snack bar fare isn't quite good enough, there's a hot dog stand just to the east next to the parking lot -- walk over and have a Chicago dog for lunch. read more

Paradise bay is a fun place to go in summer. There is a main pool with a whirl pool and three water slides. There is also a lap pool and a diving board pool with a high dive and a drop slide. There is also a splash park for the little ones. People typically spend one to two hours here. They also have good ice cream sandwiches but they don't have any real food. I got a pretzel and threw it away. Also, they don't clean up so watch where you step or else you could be stepping in food that has been there for hours. My plan was to buy a season pass for my family here at the beginning of summer. I am so glad I didn't because when I finally did go it was terrible. They let so many summer camps in at once it was so packed my 5 year old couldn't even enjoy himself because kids were so rough and wild. The guards are constantly blowing their whistle but there aren't enough guards to manage all the kids. I didn't feel like it was very safe. I was so disappointed. Online it looks so much bigger. And it advertises as a waterpark. It's just a pool with some extras. I should have gone to pelican harbor for the same price and it's bigger, laid out better, and not as jam packed. After the 3pm break things did get better and they finally opened the little kid area. My son was then able to enjoy his time there and it felt safe. They concession stand prices were very reasonable. I am 9 months pregnant and just wanted ice water. There were drink cooler full of water but no cups. I asked for a cup they said they can't just give me a cup. I said what are those coolers filled with? They said water. I said okay how am I supposed to drink it? They said bring your own cup From home. I said I will just use your cup and show you it and throw it away so you know I'm not trying to get refills of soda. She said no there's a drinking fountain you can use. So I found the fountain and it was gritty and warm. Thanks a lot. So glad I didn't buy a season pass we will not be back. read more

I've lived in Lombard for over 10 years and have only just visited this water park since the make-over. I was disappointed more than I was impressed. The layout of the park is great. There are a variety of pools to keep kids entertained and there are a few swim lanes for adults...only during specific times. Let me point out, I don't have kids. And let me tell you, there were a TON. While standing in line i heard all but one say they were not Lombard residents. I'm going to have to agree with another "Yelper" (Stephanie) on this, the price for non-residents is not high enough. There were 6 kids for one non-resident! Residents getting crowded out is too true. It really felt over crowded and there wasn't a safe place for adults to avoid the unruly ones. They would not stay out of the swim lanes, then the life guard just left and it was a free for all. I think the life guards were appropriately attentive otherwise. The staff were not friendly. If they weren't totally overwhelmed (take the single gal at the front window), they were on their phones or abrupt. I get the entire workforce challenge these days for quality staff, but this is supposed to be a fun place to enjoy for a day! Do something to help Lombard residents get to enjoy this park! read more

As a person with no kids, I didn't feel annoyed at all coming here and being bombarded with kids. It was a Saturday at 3pm when I visited. Definitely on the high end when it comes to pricing. This is a great waterpark. The lifeguards are very attentive. Avery is great. Always a smile and a hi and manages the park very well. There are a variety of waterslides and 2 diving boards. One high and low. Swimming lanes and a kiddie pool. There is also a snack bar available till about 5p. They say they close at 630p but they really start shutting down earlier then that. About 615p. This pool is brand spanking new (well as of 2011 at least). They have tons of stuff to do which results in massive crowds on a hot day. This is what they have according to their site: The award winning state-of-the-art facility features Hurricane Cove, a zero-depth entry leisure pool with spouts, fountains, water sprays, whirlpool, and host to Sidewinder (body slide), Wipeout, (bowl slide), Pipeline (speed slide) and the Alligator Crossing water walk. Splashdown, a 12-foot dive well, boasts both a 3-meter and 1-meter dive board and a drop slide. Dolphin Cove, the 8-lane lap pool can be set up to encourage lap swim, water basketball or water volleyball. The young visitors will enjoy a zero-depth entry Turtle Cove with its fountains, island, water slide just their size. If you don't want to have a panic attack, I suggest avoiding the Wipeout (bowl slide). That thing was pure awful. It lets you out into a deep section of water and the water from the bowl is splashing on your head. You become severely disoriented and the panic of drowning sets in. There is a life guard standing there but I will avoid that slide at all costs. This place is pretty pricey if you are a non-resident...$13/adult before 5...$10/adult after 5. Resident is $8/adult before 5 and $5.50/adult after 5. This is a great place for kids as they have the zero-depth entry with tons of splashy stuff. I recently moved in the Lombard area a year ago but never had a chance to go to Paradise Bay until this summer. The kids and I ventured out to give it a try and were pleasantly surprised. We had over the summer visited a couple other small water parks in the area but the kids really enjoyed the 3 slides that they have there. They give you 3 completely different slides in one pool. I would say the only thing that was not real great was the food they sell. We did not eat there because the food did not look or sound appealing but we did find Johnny Dog across the street very good. The price is really not that bad for a day at the pool with 3 water slides, splash park, diving well, floating bridge crossing, and lap pool. It will be our summer pool of choice from now on I believe. read more

The pool is extremely restrictive and expensive in comparison to nearby larger pools in the nearby districts. The pool also plays music - uncensored. Our 6 year old heard the lyrics to 'rape me' by nirvana and asked us to explain what they meant. The pool also does not honor their published operating hours, and for example closed at 1230pm (instead of 8pm) because of low attendance. How could they possibly decide that no one was coming after only being open a 1/2 hour?! They also routinely close early by 6pm for the same reason, and start turning people away at the door at 530pm - all of those people who would have brought the attendance up and are coming after work are turned away. Check the lombard park district yelp reviews if you want to know what people really think of this place. Paradise Bay is run by the park district so people have entered their reviews there not realizing Paradise Bay has its own separate yelp entry. The charge for residents here is more expensive than the *non-resident* family pool pass for Elmhurst 10 minutes away. The Bartlett pool pass going in the other direction for 20 minutes also rocks, at easily 3-4 times the size with many more features and far less restrictions than Lombard. Lombard pool has a few water slides, all of which empty into deep pools which are only good for older kids and adults. Flotation devices of any kind are not allowed unless they are coast guard approved (think bright orange vests). The children aren't allowed any toys and the supervisors even yelled at my son for *carrying* (not wearing) his water wings in the pool. Elmhurst and Bartlett again by comparison allow any type of floatie or water wings, and allow the children to bring in toys, water guns, etc. At Lombard, there is no splashing, no 'horseplay' and no one is allowed on or near your back (child not allowed to latch onto your shoulders). The lifeguards are also constantly whistling, but no one can ever tell who they are whistling at, and they never move to actually talk to the people. We also have witnessed smaller children in the whirlpool area who go under and get sucked underneath to come up gagging and coughing while the lifeguard was busy talking politics with someone who was swimming near them. Elmhurst and Bartlett on the other hand have perfect safety records, and are always on task without any of these nonsense restrictions. The bartlett pool on the other hand is at least 3times the size of the whole area in Lombard, separated out into several pools so each skill level can still have a great time. They have a lazy river and all of their very tall waterslides drop into splash pools only a foot or so deep, so even smaller children can enjoy them. The Elmhurst pool is also actually 4 separate pools with water features, slides and diving boards too, allowing for all varying skill sets to enjoy themselves. Besides the pool, activities at all levels (child and adult) are cancelled a week before if they arent full, however many of the residents try to sign up a day or two before for things like Super Saturday or Scrapbooking. Because they cancel these programs so far ahead, and you are only notified by a single phone call/voicemail children and adults miss out and sometimes even show up to find out there is no program. The only reason I did not give the district 1 star is because their children's athletics department, soccer, basketball etc, as well as their martial arts, music, and family camping are excellent. And while we no longer take part in the pool or the special events-(which generally are cancelled), we do enjoy their regular ongoing programs. read more

We went to the restaurant today and while the food was fine, the service was terrible. We had a restaurant.com certificate that was still active and the restaurant refused to accept it after making us wait over 30 minutes while they tried to talk to the owner. They continued to refuse that payment and would not let us talk to management directly regarding the complaint. The entire reason we visited was the certificate and now knowing how unwilling the staff is to try and assist, we will never return and also strongly discouraged others from going as well. read more

If you want your children to learn how to swim stay away from Paradise Bay. My child has gone to 3 sessions this summer and is no better than the first day. Retrieving rings and using a kick board does not teach a child how to swim. How about working on some strokes and learning how to blow air out of their noses instead of holding their nose. I wish I would have read the reviews prior to going there....as mentioned in a previous review, the lifeguards are definitely on top of their game, which is good, but there isn't much wiggle room without gettng a whistle blown at you! The chairs on on top of each other so there's not much room to get in and out of an area. The kids' shallower pool section seemed a bit better. The food is gross. You can bring your own food so that's an option. The water was super cold, which on a hot day is nice, but it was cold for a pool considering we've had some hot days in July this year. I'm glad we tried out a different place, but won't be coming back anytime soon. read more

Worse costumer service. They charged me and never let my kids swim. They made my kids sit in the locker room for over and hour and kids never got to swim. When asked for a refund they said no and than tried to say how do we even know they paid. Um.... Than how did they get in? I also noticed a large amount if hair grease floating on top of the water. Its filthy in the pool area. They do not clean the pool properly. Anyone who goes there is highly recommended to shower and scrub immediately after swimming here. Its disgusting. I called and was hung up four times to get information on what it cost to get in and how to get there four times hung up needless to say I took him there. I was very disappointed when I saw the lifeguards smoking hookahs and blunts on duty, but a friend with weed is a friend indeed, right? I was also mad that the water in the dive well reeked of bong water and got me very wet. I was sad when some kid pushed me into the pool and I fell on a young man's gravity bong. I got punched in the face and escorted away for being "disruptive to the chill environment" and asked never to return. Long time Lombard resident, very disappointed with lessons offered here. Rarely do the teenage instructors get in the water and my three kids learned nothing from the multiple sessions of lessons they have taken over the years. The swim team is a great way to learn and practice strikes, but is not well supported by the park district. The teen lifeguards working at the pool are enforcing some overly strict rules and regulations that are not in place for any obvious safety reasons. The pool manager is rarely aware of any happenings at the pool, and will tell you that she is too busy to be watching/overseeing lessons....unfortunate way to manage such a nice facility... read more
