My fiance & I went for dinner last night. This was our first time in. One of the owners sat us. We explained it was our first time in & he went over the whole menu on his iPad- with photos! We had questions - he happily answered. Such a refreshing change to what we are used to. We ordered two dishes and both were excellent. The star of the night, though, was the Country Lasagna. Oh. My. God. The flavor! It was amazing. Please go. Please ask questions. If I had ordered something I normally would have gotten at other restaurants I probably wouldn't have liked it simply bc they do things different there. Their alfredo is thick like gravy and tastes heavily of bacon. Not my thing. BUT we tried the alfredo before we ordered so we knew. They allowed us to ask & try. I tried the eggplant parmasen. Service was good but the dish was not worth over $50. The eggplant tasted like cardboard covered in cheese. I've had better at Carabas and Olive Garden. i requested an olive based bread dip, very disappointed with spice mix. Not authentic Italian at all. I will not go back. read more

One thing that is often omitted in restaurant reviews is salads. As great as an entrée may be, a terrific salad can enhance the entire meal. Now, it has been my learned experience to never bother ordering a so-called "House Salad" at a restaurant simply because a bowl filled with tasteless non-nutritious iceberg lettuce will be served. For me, this is wasted money to the tune of $4 or $5 dollars and not at all appealing to my palate. Not so at Tuscan Pig Italian Kitchen. Their House Salad, so reasonably priced, is not filled with iceberg lettuce, but is a mixture of tasty nutritious greens and garnishments that, along with your choice of several exquisite salad dressings, really sets up the tummy for any of the scrumptious entrée offerings. On occasion, I have also ordered their Caesar Salad which is such a generous portion that I end up taking home much of it for a late night treat! read more

Wow! So delicious. We had Gnocchi with pink sauce, gnocchi with Alfredo and Eggplant Parmesan. It was all fresh, served quickly and was wonderful. I will definitely come again next time I am in town. The dining area is an average size, but is not too crowded with tables. Our server was polite but not too intrusive. P.S. be sure to visit the restroom during your visit. The layering of flavors in their dishes is an art in itself. Dined in tonight with our 7 year old daughter. We ordered the Tuscan Pork Bruschetta to start with & drank their cucumber infused water. We were served warm & delicious bread in a terracotta pot with a devine sauce prior to our appetizer. The Bruschetta come out quickly & was probably my favorite part of the whole meal. Not too heavy but not light, not greasy but very full flavored. Then I ordered the Caprese Salad & Penne in Pink Cream sauce, my husband ordered the Chicken Parm Sandwich & our daughter ordered Corkscrew pasta in Alfredo. We noticed the ambiance was lacking due to the proximity of other patrons. A larger dining area would be preferred but only slightly took away from the dining experience. Our food was brought out in a timely fashion but my Caprese Salad was not with it all. I hardly noticed until we got the bill & realized that it had never been brought out. The waitress apologized & removed it from our bill. The chicken parm sandwich was much larger than we had expected ... all of the entrées were. The pink sauce was splendidly delicious! I was a little surprised to find bacon & green peas in the alfredo, the alfredo itself was quite unremarkable. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either.. I was taken aback by this expecting it to rock my world. We had the tiramisu in a chocolate bowl for dessert. It was fluffy & has a less wet mouth feel, very well balanced in flavor with no overpowering tones which is refreshing. We will return! Very affordable & although the dining room seemed understaffed the quality of food did not suffer; only delayed wait times & slight inattention to food having never come out. read more

I think this is some of the best food in Longview. The service was great. We arrived right as they opened and were seated immediately. We started with the classic caprese, which didn't disappoint. The bread and ragu were delicious as well. I had the chicken parm, and my wife had the pesto gnocchi. Both were great. We finished out with the tiramisu (which wasn't my favorite, but I'm a little picky about my tiramisu, and there were plenty of other excellent looking desserts we'll be trying next time!). I was super excited to try the food here. We don't eat out much, since I can't have dairy, but I wanted to try some real Italian food for my birthday. I must admit, I didn't find it to my liking. The owner came by a few times to visit with our table personally, and he was very patient with me when I asked questions, but the extreme limitations on what I could have were disappointing after a phone call with reassurance that they could easily accommodate my diet. The staff couldn't tell me whether several items were safe for me to eat or not. The bread was nice, but it isn't baked there. The gnocchi aren't made there. The pork tasted like regular barbecue, which was tender and nice, but not what I wanted on my pasta. If you're looking for great Italian food, I'm sure the Tuscan Pig will delight. In fact, the menu looked amazing. I just couldn't eat most of it. read more

My husband and I ordered through Waitr. I had the country lasagna. The pork in it was nice, but the overall dish was lacking. The pasta sheets were tough and rubbery, and I can't believe I'm saying it, but there was too much cheese on top. The sauce was bland. It had been awhile since I broke bread with my friend Rudy, owner of Tuscan Pig. All around me I heard other diners saying things like "this is so delicious" and "how do you make dishes like this". The same words escaped my mouth when my meL was complete. Rudy knows his menu inside and out and expertly navigates each diners preferences, likes and dislikes until you land on e a fly what you knew you wanted or, like me tonight, didn't know that I didn't know what I wanted. My entree was penne pasta in a homemade pink sauce with shredded pork and sliced meatballs. All this was covered with a splendidly selected cheese and baked. Oh...my...gosh. I didn't come close to finishing all of the entree but I am confident that the leftovers will be almost as good as the fresh dish. I know this because I've enjoyed Tuscan Pig leftovers and they are delectable. If you haven't yet tried Tuscan Pig, don't go another meal out without trying them. Rudy is a most attentive and gracious host and the food is simply amazing. Don't just take my word for it, ask the people who sat down and began eating before you arrived. They won't be disappointed. Owner is so kind and engaged with every diner. The chicken cutlet was nice, tender and crispy. The pasta was mushy and over sauced. The sauce was quite bitter. The atmosphere is cheap and offers no privacy, unlike most Italian restaurants. They refuse to sell Prosecco by the glass because they, "don't want it to go bad." They do not offer Moscato. They do not offer pizza or spaghetti options for children. They were out of eggplant parm, the one dish I wanted. UPDATE: this place has gotten way too proud of their food. It's good, but not THAT good. My total came out to $19.11 (without tip!) for a salad and pasta without any protein. That is nuts. The salad alone is $2.75 for a measly amount of lettuce, 4 shreds of tomato and red onion. No cheese. No croutons. Super lame and overpriced. I thought my ravioli would be $12.95 but it was almost $15. Nowhere on the (very confusing) menu did it mention pesto sauce being an upcharge. I'm thinking this was my last visit here. would eat the mushroom ravioli with pesto sauce every single day if I could. YUM. Also LOVE the garlic bread. Wish they were open for dinner more than 3 nights/week. Kinda pricey, but it's way better than your typical plate of pasta. Ambiance leaves a little to be desired. It's mostly white plastic tables and folding chairs. Perhaps they've upgraded since my last visit. The owner is very passionate about his food. I've never seen anyone else take orders. He can show you basically any dish on his iPad, which is really cool so you can see what you're getting. I've seen him selling meals at both the farmers market and the mall (may have just been for the holidays). Check the hours before you go! They do a surprising amount of takeout business.
