I don't get how this place has such a high rating. I was actually thinking of rating it three stars since we go here only when we're not in the mood to cook (we = my wife since I can't cook btw) and need something local and relatively quick. Plus I really like their curly fries. But their pizza quality is laughable. Take one bite and all the cheese comes off with it. Even when you take a slice from the pie, you're guaranteed at least 93% of the time to take the entire cheese off. This has literally happened to me every single time I get pizza from there. No exceptions. It's so freakin annoying. Do people enjoy this and perhaps I'm just in the dark about this phenomena? If so, maybe that's why ppl like it so much. Only other pluses are that the service is good (nice gents that work there) and they have atypical choices for toppings. I like their salad pizza, too. Perhaps next (forced) trip there I'll try some of the other pizzas with the atypical / unique toppings. Problem is that my wife likes cheese only. So I had to come up to Danbury, CT from White Plains, NY to take care of a boiler problem for my tenant and decided to get a pizza for the guys. The place was nice looking when you walked in, I'd definitely would come to sit and chill. Dude at the counter was friendly, greeted with a smile, hooked me up with plates/cups when I asked without missing a beat, and thanked me for my order. I know these are small details but it makes you feel good when someone cares. Someone posted that the cheese comes off. I didn't have that issue eating. Pulling the slice from the pie, used a knife. I wouldn't call the quality "laughable" because I needed a knife (nothing but love Imran :p). I liked the done-ness of the cheese, my opinion cuz from my experience pizza is a very personal thing. It looked good and tasted good. If I'm ever up near Danbury I'd come back here again for sure. read more

Amazing pizza and garlic knots. My wife and I are from NY and have lived in Boston since 2003. We have a lot of friends in the city and my in-laws live in upper Westchester, so we make the trek down I-84 quite often. One trip while headed back east, we were seriously low on fuel and wound up getting gas in the strip mall off exit 2 in Danbury where Tuscanero's is. We saw it across the parking lot and we were both a bit hungry so we decided to stop in. So glad we did. We now make it a habit to stop in here on our way back to Boston from NY. read more

Hey, this is a strip mall pizza joint, and for beverages just a cooler with drinks... I thought I'd try it when in town on business. Guess what, the food passed my test. They hit a home run, outta the park. The slices of pizza were very tasty. I had a cheese slice and the meat slice. Both were tip-top. Great crust. The 2 college age looking guys were polite, focused on customer service and made me feel appreciated. Great job. I mean I worked for strict people at a restaurant in college and these guys reminded me of me giving good customer service and pleasantries that weren't faked. The bathroom had real paper towel dispensers and not the hot air hand jobs. The bathroom was clean. Salt dispensers were clean. I looked at details and couldn't find much to complain about. I will return. The employees took pride in serving me good food. Thank you. They don't utilize all the interior space for seating...this, that, who cares? Good food, good job. When I travel for work always and eat out almost 1,000 times a year all I want is a good meal. Good food. Good service. Clean. Since I live way closer to Tuscanero's now, there's really no reason why I shouldn't be popping in occasionally for some of the best pizza Danbury has to offer. I stopped in this past weekend for a couple slices and a chef's salad to-go. I ended up with a slice of spinach and ricotta, and a slice of chicken, bacon, and ranch (I believe). Didn't take long for the slices to heat up, get packed into a box, and on the counter ready for me to devour at my earliest convenience. The salad came out pretty fast as well. Stayed at a Hilton Inn nearby so decided to get lunch here since its the closest pizzeria . Placed pick up order by phone and the guy was so stand offish already. First thing i said after I got off the phone was "wow, that guy needs to get la*d". Anywhoo, I go in and pick up my order. Right off the bat I see workers picking off food from the counter and eating them just behind the counter for everyone to see. Ignore. Proceeded to pay, transaction was bland, expected. Get to the hotel and eat food, taste and quality matched the service. 2 stars...because I'm nice, but really 0-1 stars is what this experience deserved. read more

Here is the thing the pizza is ok. But we have been consistently disappointed by service. At least 3 times now we have ordered via an app, get confirmation of an order then 10 minutes later told that Tuscanero's cannot fulfill the order. Then we chase down food for the night. I guess shame on us to keep giving them opportunities but no more. Not to mention they take the phone off the hook when they get busy so you only have the slice app as the option. Stopped here while running some errands after the Fairfield Half Marathon. Ordered a slice of white with spinach and a slice of Sicilian. The crust on both was perfect. The thin slice broke nicely and the Sicilian was crunchy but soft. The sauce on the Sicilian was great and plenty of cheese. This was definitely my kind of pizza. Got the small pizza for dinner. It was really good. Haven't had any other menu items. The pizza was well cooked and had a thinner crust, which I like. I would recommend the pizza. Staff was was really nice as well. I have heard their dishes are good too, but haven't gotten anything yet. Restaurant is next to chipotle (which sucks) and Starbucks. Parking is a pain sometimes. As you all know, I'm an expert when it comes to pizza so if you happen to order a fresh pie from Tuscanero's, you will not be disappointed. Actually, you will probably fall in love with their pie since all three ingredients mesh perfectly. I'm not sure if it's the cheese or sauce or both, but they are like a drug. I could eat their pizza every night of the week. I haven't tried their specialty pies just because I'm old school when it comes to pizza...sausage, pepperoni or mushroom. We've been traveling the 84 corridor for years, and the pit stop of choice (besides Rein's Deli, in Vernon, CT) when we're heading to NY and when my husband is craving coffee, is the little plaza right off the highway (easy on, easy off) in Danbury, CT. We "fuel" up on Starbucks and perhaps check out the Trader Joe's, and then we're off again to complete the 3- to 3.5-hr trip. Yesterday we had some time to kill (or we would have been 45 min early at our destination) and decided to try out a slice at Tuscanero's Pizza, which is located a few doors away from Starbucks. The place is large and clean, with some nice stone work by the counter. There are booths and about 10 tables. The display of pizzas and wraps was enticing: They had chicken parm wraps, calzones, little pizzas the size of bagels, pasta pizza with ziti on the top, white pizza, buffalo, ranch, veggie, pepperoni, among other goodies. For me, the true test of a good pizza is the cheese - I'm a pizza purist - so we shared one slice of cheese pizza. That said, "Eureka." I have finally found a pizza that's absolutely delicious and reminiscent of the ones I had at Cosmos Pizza, on Marshall Street, when I was in college in Syracuse. The.Best.Pizza.Ever. This cheese slice was a taste of heaven. Thin crust, incredible sauce, cheese, and oil. Perfect ratio of all the ingredients. And the tip bends down when you fold the slice in half, as we New Yorkers like to eat them. Whole wheat crust as well as gluten-free dough are available on request. We only tried the pizza, but there's a catering menu and a dinner menu with soups, wedges, different types of pinwheels (spinach, veggie, chicken, cheese dogs), salads, chicken marsala, parmigiana, lasagna, ravioli. Am betting all are yummy. The only bad thing about the place is the fact that it's 2.5 hours from my house. Guess that'll mean more trips to NY and perhaps a pie to go on our return trip, provided we can make it back into the area by 9 pm, when they close. Wish they delivered to my neck of the woods. There is a nice English word for the way I used to feel about the pizza situation near where I live in Danbury: despair. But Tuscanero's has opened up, and I'm happy to say that the situation has improved immensely. This being the first time out with these guys, I ordered a tried-and-true favorite: a pepperoni pizza. I was not disappointed. Very tasty, and if you're a crust person you're going to be very pleased, because the crust on these pizza's is very crispy and flavorful. The pizzas are not too thin, not too thick, and the slices are pretty big (the kind you want to fold over when you're eating them). They've only been open a few days, but they're up and running beautifully as far as I can tell. The place is big, clean, and friendly. The menu indicates a good selection of appetizers, salads, and Italian dinners, and some special selections for kids. There are more than a dozen pizzas to choose from, with an option to build your own. The selection of toppings available for the build-your-own option is a bit limited (no ham or Canadian bacon, for example), but there are some interesting items (like clams). A good, solid, and delicious offering from this new pizza place -- this is where I'm going to be ordering my pizzas in the future. See you there! (No delivery yet, but "it's in the plan.") read more

I like this restuarant, and I go a few times a month, but over the last few visits I've noticed that the front of the house staff are not paying attention to hygiene. You'll see that they go from the register-handeling cash, credit cards, and credit machine- to the handeling of food!!!! Disgusting! I just went in the last 38 hours and had to stop the young man who'd just processed a cash payment to wash his hands before wrapping my slice to go. In contrast, I watched the prep guys working off to the side wash and purell their hands 4 times each within the same 15 min. Sorry, but when I go back , and I will, and I dont see boxes of plastic gloves on the front counters, being used or at the least assign a person to ONLY work the money and nothing else, I'll turn and leave and I'll be sad bc they make great beef patties. read more

What appears to be a typical pizzeria is a great restaurant. One can get meals, pies, subs, salads, slices, wine and beer. Have had the pizza by the slice- very good but alittle pricey. Dinners are really good too- especially chicken parm with pasta and salad. Dinner prices are great. Beer or wine or fountain/ bottle soda. Always crowded! I stop at Tuscaneros often. While lately I've missed some of the staff that we're super friendly, the food is still tasty. I usually order the Tuscaneros salad with grilled chicken, and split between dinner and the next day's lunch. It's delicious! They get points for convenience & great customer service. For most part I was underwhelmed by quality of the pizza. It was edible/serviceable but my taste buds were not jumping for joy. I know it's a small thing but the mushrooms were canned, not fresh. The cheese was in a good amount but stuck to the box and was sliding off. The sauce was ok. Why should you take my word?? - I'm a NYC girl by way of Providence RI - I KNOW pizza. Thin crust, bakery style, grilled.. I like it all and my standards for pizza do not run to gourmet as a bar. These guys are ok for take out. I would eat them over Dominos but not in my top 3 for pizza love in Danbury area. I'll give them another shot and eat a slice there. Great gluten free pizza! The best I have had in Danbury. I don't think you can get gluten free by the slice. Pretty sure you can only order it in the personal pizza size. Pizza (the gluten kind) by the slice here is yummy. They have a great selection of slices. The buffalo and BBQ slices are particularly tasty. When I get the Hawaiian, I get it sans bacon. The staff is very nice. Sometimes I worry that I will not get my food because they don't take your name or give you a number and they are busy, but they always bring your food right to you. I came in looking for good NY pizza. This is something I know about, I worked in a pizzeria in NYC throughout high school and college. We always had just one pie out during the day and two out during the rush. These were for the foot traffic, people coming in off the street looking for a slice. If they wanted something on it, we put something on it and tossed it in the oven. We only kept pies out for less then an hour, then we tossed them in the trash. We sold a lot of slices and rarely tossed any in the trash. Everything we sold was fresh. Not so here. There's so many different pies already made up -just sitting out. Why? I came in after lunch, around two. These pies looked awful - but I was hungry after a long drive in so I ordered two slices of regular. I wish I didn't. It wasn't very good. Since I don't eat fast food, we stopped in here to pick up some pizza on our drive back to Manhattan from CT. The man on the phone (same guy as the register) was very nice and helpful. The pizza was alright for what we needed-something fast and easy right off the freeway but I wouldn't go there intentionally for a pizza craving.
