First off, not sure how anyone can have a bad experience with Dr Nguyen. My wife and I have been seeing him for the past 8 or 9 years now and never had a bad experience. He will only do what is needed and won't try to sell you any extras. My wife had had other work done, and I have had some minor work too. He is certainly not overpriced either. Other dentists I have been to bring out everything they can to sell you services you don't need. I drive from Corona to see him but don't mind the drive either. I went to Tustin Community Dentistry for 3 years. The staff and Dr. Nguyen never struck me as particularly warm or welcoming. It was typically a cold reception, which I didn't prefer but wasn't a reason to switch dentists. I would get routine x-rays and cleanings. Dr Nguyen always said that my teeth looked fine; gave me tips on how to floss. What I noticed from the beginning was that I was in and out of the chair within 30 minutes. All of my previous dentist visits would take much longer. The cleaning was much more thorough - I didn't know what it was that other dentists were doing that Dr. Nguyen wasn't, so I dismissed it. I switched insurance and had my first visit with a different dentist. Wow, what a world of difference! What I found out was that Dr. Nguyen just focused on flossing and brushing. What about my gums? I have early gum disease on a few teeth and had to get gingivitis cleaning, and my next appointment is only a few months after my initial since I need to try and reverse gum disease. I blame Tustin Community Dentistry for this - 2 visits a year for 3 years. read more

Dr. Nguyen (Nguyen, Dave H) only cares for money and asks patients to do extra unnecessary treatment. He refuses to do basic treatment. Ask patients to do unnecessary treatment that insurance will not cover. read more

Dr. Nguyen and Dr. Tran are both very accommodating and easy to talk to (which makes it easy to discuss the next course of action for my dental care). I feel like I have a say in the determining the best choice for me. I especially like that they have a practical, non-pretentious practice, yet at the same time polite and professional. read more

Seems like Dr. Nguyen needs an updated review! My whole family has been coming to Dr. Nguyen for cleaning and consultation for the past three years. As a matter of fact, Dr. Nguyen came highly recommended by a friend of mine. My daughter and I just went see Dr. Nguyen for our annual cleaning on Monday of this week. Dr Nguyen doesn't try to "sell" you anything by scaring tactic. If you've done a good job keeping your teeth clean then he will tell you so; likewise, if you've done a bad job cleaning your teeth then he will tell you to do a better job next time. He tells it as it is. I've been to so many other ones that right after X-ray and exam (even before teeth cleaning) would tell you what is not right with your teeth and what "needed" to be done! All at the expensive of your own pockets! I just hope my husband's company doesn't change our dental insurance so we can keep coming to Dr. Nguyen for our dental cares! read more

Mr. Nguyen was so pleasant as a dentist. He was very friendly and easy going. During my check up, he told me about his career path and was very relatable. I enjoyed my experience with Mr. Nguyen because he seems to really care about his patient experience and made me feel really comfortable. Unfortunately I did not have such a positive experience like others mentioned in their reviews. I went to the office yesterday and found Dr. Nguyen was a bit presumptuous and even down right rude to me as a new patient. I've also over heard he was talking to another patient in the receptionist area mentioning that he can not understand him thus can not communicate with him and wanted to send him away. I feel bad for the patient since I've always felt doctors have their obligation to help their patients, especially when they are in pain. I do regret to try Dr. Nguyen and his office. He did explain what he thinks about the health condition of my teeth to me thoroughly hence the two stars. Though it was expressed in a bit snobbish way. Im very skeptical about dentists, especially because my previous experiences at different offices have been very bad, due to the fact that they try to force a sell upon you of a bunch of services you do not need. However, that was not the case here, Dr. Nguyen and his staff were such a pleasure to come and get work done. He was very polite, and patient. Not once did I feel pressured into purchasing certain services and procedures that I needed done. This office was always very clean, and best of all, they were always running on schedule in reference to their appointments they set, the longest I had to wait in the waiting room was about 5 minutes. Dr. Karen Tran, highly recommended! I have never been a fan of going to the dentist, because let's be honest, does anyone actually really look forward to their dental appts? I was long overdue for a checkup and cleaning, and I found Dr. Karen Tran via my employer's insurance network site. This was at 6:00 on a Friday, and I reached a receptionist and set an appt. for the following week. I was a bit nervous when I first got to my appt, thinking I'd be looking at hundreds of dollars in fillings and crowns because I was so overdue, but I was pleasantly surprised with the entire visit. They were quick, friendly, and Dr. Tran even filled my few minor cavities right then and there! It was so nice not having to make another appt for that. So many of my teacher colleagues have recommended Tustin Community Dentistry to me because I have had such negative experiences with our past 2 dentists in Aliso Viejo these past 15 years. One of my dentists in AV even started to charge office visits when I didn't even have a copay as a means to make even more money off customers. My appointment for a cleaning and check up was at 4:00 P.M. I got there early and at 3:55 I was sitting in the chair and getting X-rays done. I was in my car driving home by 4:30. Dr. Tran said my teeth were great. My previous dentist had a list of things I needed done with a price of $800. I love that their office is always on time and they only give me the service I need. The first time I visited this office, I felt Dr. Nguyen was uncharacteristically unfriendly for a dentist. After the service, he just got up and walked away. But 6 months later for the second check up, he was quite chatty and kind enough to take his time explaining in detail what I needed to be careful with in order to maintain my dental hygiene. This was my first appointment with Dr. Nguyen, I think I found a new dentist. After a check up he completed all of the work that day, I was impressed with his work. I would have given him 5 except for the billing, if you have Aetna it is new to them and they charge you for items that are covered, I'm still waiting for a refund after three weeks. read more
