I have been a customer since 2020, when my eldest child was four months old. Since then, we have welcomed two additional children, all of whom began attending Tutor Time at approximately four and a half months old. Overall, our experience has been very positive. Last year, I had some concerns when several seasoned staff members and the director left for various reasons. However, I am happy to share that we have had a wonderful experience with the new teachers. The infant teachers are patient, nurturing, and excellent communicators. They consistently keep me informed of any concerns. The teachers in the twos program are also exceptional. The children are engaged, interested, and actively participating in a variety of meaningful activities. The new director hosted a meet-and-greet at the beginning of the year, which I greatly appreciated. She brings extensive knowledge from her previous role, and I value the changes she is implementing. While her leadership style differs from that of the previous director, I feel very confident in her abilities and her vision for the school. read more

We previously had a very positive experience with Tutor Time. The center was welcoming, the former director was personable, and my child enjoyed attending for several years. After a change in leadership, our experience shifted significantly. The new director's communication style and interactions with parents, staff, and children did not align with the environment we had come to expect. We experienced multiple situations where her approach felt unprofessional and concerning. Ultimately, we made the difficult decision to withdraw our child after three years, despite having been satisfied with the program in the past. Our decision was based on what we believe is in our child's best interest. At this time, I would not recommend this location until management practices are reevaluated. read more

We have been attending Tutor Time for about two years, and during most of that time, we truly loved it--especially when Heather was the director. Her departure was incredibly unfortunate, and the experience since then has changed drastically. The new director has been extremely unprofessional and lacks basic people skills. Her demeanor is consistently rude and unwelcoming, which ultimately led us to decide to leave Tutor Time. When I called to inform them of our decision, her response was simply "alrighty," with no follow-up questions or concern as to why we were leaving. This response alone spoke volumes and made it clear she is likely aware that she is the reason families are choosing to leave. On multiple occasions, we have walked in while she was at the front desk, and she has said nothing--no greeting, no acknowledgment--just stares and then walks back into her office. This creates an extremely uncomfortable and hostile environment. I know we are not the only parents who feel this way, and I sincerely hope corporate looks into this situation. The contrast between Heather and the current director, Vivian, is night and day. Instead of making an effort to get to know the children and parents, she arrived with an attitude that felt authoritarian and dismissive. Most concerning, I no longer feel safe or comfortable leaving my child here, especially when my child has come home describing her as "mean." If you are considering this location, I would strongly encourage you to think twice. There are far better childcare options in Simi Valley, and it is heartbreaking to see such a once-wonderful daycare deteriorate due to poor leadership. read more

TutorTime is been a placed dedicating for my two children in Simi Valley, my two year old daughter is been enroll for the past 1month and 1/2 ago, just loving the fun environment and loving staff. The quality of services is describe above and beyond specially with our new Director Vivian Bennet, she's amazing, educated, respectful and very knowledgeable working in her field. The values of this place is a safe environment, great space facility and food programs have the best nutrition meals, and the education programs. All the staff are wonderful, it's really worth the place to enroll in this preschool. I'm very happy and satisfied with all the great services that my daughter needs. Writing a new review because now I have two littles who come here ! I will forever brag about tutor time ! I've NEVER had a horrible experience here, the staff is amazing. I've been with tutor time for about 4 years now. My daughter started when she was 1 years old and my son started at 4 months old. I love that my kiddos get to share the same teachers they had. The staff has not only watch my kids change and grow but me as well. My 1 year old was more of a later bloomer once he transfer out of infants to toddlers with in that month my son picked up walk and he talks amazing, to the point his pediatrician was shocked hearing my 1 year old say a complete sentence. I'm not a coddle mom, I'm pretty firm with my kids. I notice the teachers would baby my kids (thank you but not thank you) when I express to them I need you to have a strict tone with a loud voice and if they're not behaving you discipline meaning they don't get to have fun because they weren't listening. The teacher explained they're not allowed to yell at kids but I did say well you can yell at mine. I'm beyond grateful for Mrs. Heather ! She is the best and goes above and beyond for her staff and kids there. Anytime I have a problem or concern Mrs. Heather has always helped ! I love that I have camera access because I see everything (btw there's no sound included with video) anytime my children have ended up hurt there's always an incident report and I receive a call ahead of time. Everyone parenting is different and I'm glad I have a school that understands when to be firm and when to be your friend. We sent our two kids (4 and 2 yr old's) to this center. It has been great experience. The management is excellent especially Heather is very patient and understanding. The teachers are mostly good. It is very spacious compared to any other pre school I have seen. They understand kids with different backgrounds and adjust accordingly. I heard Tutor time is under new management now. But I'm writing this review from what I witnessed beforehand (before new management) Teachers are VERY abusive, tons of drama, very rough with the kids, and what I witnessed makes me want to break down and cry. I would NEVER EVER want any child to go here (unless things have changed). I'm so glad I immediately took my baby out of this place. I feel so guilty for ever having him there. If there is a lot of turnover and a place is short staffed- that's NOT a good sign. This school was a mess, very dirty and filthy, management was awful etc. I could go on. Disclaimer: please ignore grammatical errors and typos. I'm so overwhelmed typing this review after what I just witnessed. The way the teachers treat the toddlers at this facility is borderline abuse. If you don't want your child to grow up with psychological problems do not bring them here. I brought my 2.5 year old here for the " early preschool" program. She was only there for 2 half days, and then we pulled her out today after what we saw on the camera footage. They didn't offer her water, they put her sippy cup out of reach, didn't offer her any food while the other kids were eating, they treated her so terribly. I saw her crying on the camera and the teachers completely ignored her. Didn't comfort her, didn't offer a toy, didn't do ANYTHING. When I went to get her she was sweaty, thirsty and starving. They ignored her and were putting toys she was playing with away as she was grabbing them to play with. I screen recorded the ENTIRE thing, so I dare them to challenge me. She finished her entire sippy cup of water when I offered it as soon as I saw her and came home and ate like she had been starving. There are blind spots on the camera - I noticed my daughter was in the blind spot for a while. I went to grab her early and saw they had a tablet playing in the blind spot, so the parents couldn't see it on the camera. Not only did they ignore crying toddlers, they yelled at them to be quiet! I could NOT believe my eyes. The teacher said she was going to hide toys in the bathroom from the toddlers because they were making a mess. Hello? Isn't that what the toys are for...? To play with? The teachers don't care about the kids at all. When I asked the teacher why she didn't offer her food today while the other kids were eating she said because she didn't eat lunch on her first day. So because she didn't eat her lunch on the first day, she didn't bother to feed her today either. Great logic. All the teachers looked so downtrodden and all the kids seemed like straight up zombies. Also, the "twos" room smells like complete shit. It's so disgusting. The only positive thing to say is that the director Valerie was great, but today is her last day, so there's that. The teachers at this facility are inexperienced 18 year olds getting paid minimum wage, and have no training or experience with kids whatsoever. Class of 12+ kids had 1 "teacher." Edit to add: Shame on you Courtney or whoever the owner of this facility is. Shame on all of you for prioritizing profits over the well being and safety of the kids at this facility. The kids deserve better than this. You disgust me. Edited again to add: they were evaluated by social services in April 2022 for concerns regarding Lack of Supervision, Teacher-Child Ratio, Lack of proper training for Staff, etc. This report is made public and you can easily find it with a google search. I would NOT trust my pet rabbit with these people, let alone my child. My heart aches for all the toddlers being mistreated. I saw a little girl crying when I went there and the teacher yelled at her and said STOP! I TOLD YOU TO BE QUIET!! She did this in front of me, imagine how she talks to her when parents aren't there. There isn't audio on the camera and I'm sure there's a reason for that. Studies have shown that screaming at children is ineffective and actually harmful to children. TT Simi was our daycare for almost 6 years between our two kids. Both kids thrived with the teachers there! They have preschool and pre-K programs. Both of our kiddos were well prepared for public school (Kinder and TK) and transitioned to new schools seamlessly. My twins have been going to Tutor Time for about 2 years. They love all the teachers & staff! They look forward to going to "school" and learning. Everyone is friendly and I know my twins are in good hands. As a first time mom, having the live video has been life-changing for me. Mom / Dad, Tutor time is just a name. They are no more then babysitters. It was very convenient having my kids, at a the after school club. ( a YMCA kinda organization). They did some homework with the kids and kept them busy until 6pm when my or I could pick them up. However, I wanted a place to put more emphasis on my child's homework. I heard about Tutor Time, they appeared to be a legitimate organization, and just by virtue of the name, I figured I was going to get more academics from TT. NOT SO. When interviewing with them I was told that all of their teachers were qualified, professional, educators with teaching degrees. I did not bother checking credentials, given that this was a national organization with multiple (probably hundreds) campuses. The focus was suppose to be my child's homework since both my wife and I work and are exhausted by the time we get home. On multiple occasions, I was disappointed to find out that parts of her homework were incomplete or the TT teachers not understanding a 3rd grade curriculum, I have had multiple discussions with the managers at TT and was promised that they would pay closer attention. Bla bla bla. Never happened. It was Mid year, too late to take my girl out and put her back to the on-campus after school program. O, one little item. Kids club was about $90 per week. Tutor time costs almost double. All I got in my opinion was a bunch of babysitters watching my child. Sorry T.T. You did not live up to your name. read more

We have two children who have been going to Tutor Time since the fall of 2020. One is in preschool and one is in pre-k, I believe. We had minor issues with the staff/"teachers" in these programs but nothing significant. We have a child who just finished 1st grade. He is going to summer camp along with his brothers. He was getting beat up everyday by a handful of other kids in the summer camp. We repeatedly told the staff at the school. They would tell us everyday that they will talk to the teacher. The "teacher" has been told our son gets bullied and beat up. Today he came home with a bruised lip and a black eye. We again asked the staff what is going on that our son keeps getting beat up? They have done zero to stop the abuse. They haven't spoken to the other kids, spoken to the kids parents, separated the kids, or kept an eye on them when they are in the playground. This is not the 1st or 2nd time this has happened. We have filed no less than 5 complaints/reports with the staff. If you are merely looking for a glorified babysitting company, Tutor Time might suffice. If you have any issues at all with what your children are going through, if they are being abused, if they have problems in the class, if they are experiencing any issue at all, DO NOT expect the staff here to do anything about it. They will feign concern, they will make a show of empathy, but in the end nothing will change. The only compliment I can give to Tutor Time is they NEVER fail to collect payments or send emails, texts, other messages regarding upcoming payments. If they were half as diligent in creating a safe environment as they are in collecting money, I would give this place rave reviews. read more

In early 2015 my wife and I were faced with the necessity of putting our 6-month-old son into daycare. At the time I wasn't a fan of the idea, as I believed "any day he doesn't have to go to day care is a good day." We were referred to Tutor Time Simi Valley by a friend and, after more than a year of their care and nurturing of our first-born child, my opinion has completely changed. While Tutor Time Simi Valley is marginally more costly than other day care situations, it is well worth the investment in our son. The facility is large, clean, bright and it feels like home. They feed, change and attend to the specific needs of every child. They provide a daily curriculum of sensory, learning and play activities so your child learns and doesn't get bored. Parents are provided real-time care updates through a mobile application. The facility is secure and, coincidentally, is located right next to Ventura County Fire Station No. 44. These were the reasons we chose Tutor Time to care for our first born son. But they are not the reason we stay. The real value Tutor Time Simi Valley provides is the center's leadership and staff. The lead teachers who care for our son and all of the other infants and toddlers in his age group are phenomenal. They treat and care for the children as their own. They get to know each child's needs, wants and idiosyncrasies. They have smart observations about a child's development, and have given us some very good, specific advice. They adhere strictly to state rules and regulations, which sometimes makes things difficult for parents, but keep all of the children safe, healthy and comfortable. But most importantly, the teachers always have a smile on their face and treat the children with warmth and love, even when you know they themselves are having a bad day. I judge the center based on how my son smiles and laughs at the end of every day, and how he comes home saying and doing things he has never done before. His development as a human being has been significantly strengthened by the teaching and caring of Tutor Time staff. I have also been impressed with the center's current leadership. They have been open and honest with the state of affairs at the center. They ensure all classes are properly staffed with the right people. They bend over backwards to handle any special situations an individual family might face. And they certainly take care of any problem that arise swiftly, and firmly. All that said, the center is not perfect. There have been changes in management and staff (in my opinion, always for the better), there have been glitches in communication, and there have been some teachers and staff members that didn't seem like the job was for them. But guess what? They're not there anymore. While the center is not perfect, would you really expect it to be? Every single business faces challenges, and tutor time has the extra-added burden of managing a business in an environment where they are caring for our most precious assets. That's can't be easy. But somehow the staff and leadership overcomes those challenges and comes out on the other side stronger. As they say, its not the problem that matters, its how you react to it. Tutor Time has reacted strong, in my opinion. In our search for a day care center we scoured Simi Valley and looked at competing facilities and in-home care options. In most cases what we saw was concerning and even depressing. I'm very glad we found Tutor Time. Our son will be there as long as he needs to be. There is no other choice for us. read more

Wow! All these negative reviews! Tutor time has been great for my kids. Let me start by saying the management team has changed over the last year or so and from everything i have witnessed is very child focused. One of my kids had a tummy ache from being nervous her first day back after a couple weeks at home and a staffer sat with her, offered her some water and made sure she was better before attending to other duties. My kids love going during the school year, taking the fun little bus, and are doing summer camp this year, and this year has been the best! Everyday has a fun theme and activity, there are field trips, movie days, bowling etc. My kids are having the best time. You can communicate with the teachers in the app, see your kids on camera, and they will send you pictures throughout the day. If you are on the fence give them a try! They really are a great facility with awesome staffers. read more

We tried this "school" out when we moved locally. We were underwhelmed by their attempts to welcome us (there was nothing) and every drop off was like a bank transaction. There is nothing personal about this place and your kid feels like a number. The first day, we assumed our hesitations were from the new environment and gave it another shot. But, day two pickup was so bad we never returned. My daughter was in a soiled diaper (and obviously had been for a while) and when we entered my son's class NO ONE KNEW WHERE HE WAS. About five minutes later, they realized he was outside with a different class. I wish I could give them less than a star. There is no structure, it's all play-no child development pedagogy, and SO many "teachers"... Too many food rules (don't send anything at all) and too much "one-size-fits-all" mentality. For the same price, we were able to get both kids into private nursery and preschools in the area. I highly suggest you do the same. read more

The director Ms. Theresa is amazing. I was shocked to read some of the older reviews but then remembered that her predecessor was not so good (she wasn't there long). They did the right thing by upgrading to Ms. Theresa! She truly cares about the kids and has the teachers update an app during the day that tells you all about what your children are up too. So fun to pick them up and talk about what they did during the day as if you were there and didn't miss anything (they send pictures too which is awesome). LOVE the teachers especially Ms. Samar and Ms. Cynthia (Ms. Trinia is cool too!). Would definitely recommend this school. They know how to treat the parents and the kids so everyone is taken care of and happy. read more

I left my name and number for the director to call me back twice, including last week, and I still haven't received a call back five days later. We began attendance at Tutor Time in the fall of 2014. Since that time Ms. Judy has left the center (which was a concern for previous reviewers) and a new director, Ms. Lee Ann, has taken over. We have been thoroughly impressed with our experience, and though it was a sudden transition, the school did its best to keep the parents well informed of the changes and justifications for why changes were made. My oldest is in a Pre-K class with Ms. Debbie, and she really knows her stuff! She has been very big on communicating with us with each stage of our child's education, and has also included optional "homework" assignments for the kids; these are really just coloring or practicing with letters, but is a wonderful no-pressure introduction to what many children will face once they transition to full kindergarten. Our child has made significant progress in fine and gross motor skill development since switching to this school from our previous school, which was a good, NAECY accredited school. We also love the option for additional extracurricular activities such as gymnastics. Our youngest is the infant room, and we LOVE Ms. Shannon and Ms. Alexa. Our baby is always excited to see them, and we appreciate the daily reports they provide on his activities and new sensory developmental activities they include in the program. Not only are the teachers well trained, but they truly know and care about the personalities of each child, and can tell if someone is having a fussy day or not, and make accommodations to help that child. As a cognitive psychologist, there were a number of criteria I expected to see from a school, and Tutor Time met each and every one of these criteria; they provide a safe, supportive environment that both my children enjoy, as well as incorporating a curriculum that rotates through developmental, cognitive and social lessons, without placing too much pressure on the child. We are very pleased with this school and its programs. read more

Earlier in 2011, I enrolled my 3 children in Tutor Time and to be honest, I was a bit reluctant. Often, these corporations are more about cutting costs then caring. A few months ago, they brought in a new Director named Ali Foster. She has turned the school completely around. The pride she has in her job has greatly reflected the schools appearance, curriculum, and overall daily operations. She honestly cares about the kids, the parents input, and running the school at a 110%. Her Assistant Director Miss Wardah is her protege and should be next in line for running her own school. She is kind, caring, and the kids respect her as much as the parents do. The teachers have actually impressed me quite a bit. The infant room has Miss Maria and Miss Barbie. They love the kids and are practically the only ones my son will go to with open arms which is a very good sign. The 2-3 year old room has Miss Dorene who shows her experience by managing the classroom with great ease while listening to every word the kids have to say. The new teacher in the 4+ classroom, Miss Erin is driven to prove herself and is going above and beyond to succeed. She is a wonderful addition. Miss Judy is sweet as well. As a Private Detective, I am over protective when it comes to my little one. I want her in the most safe and fun school around. I love how secure it is with gates, codes and surveillance. They always have fun activities, events, guests and routines. Since my child has started there, she has learned so much. To say that Ms. Laura is an asset to their school is an understatement. She has always been so sweet, patient, professional and a pleasure to leave my child with. We all just adore her. Ms. Barbara is great too. I always see her spending individual time with each child and likes to give you updates on how they are doing. I cannot wait until my child gets into Ms. Cheri's class. My son, 15 months, has been going there for almost 2 months and we are absolutely thrilled. We searched high and low all over simi valley, visiting all the daycares we could find. Within the first five minutes of taking a tour with the director Caterina we fell in love. As time went by tutor time has continued to make us happy. Not only is our son wyatt growing and learning he is happy. He loves his teachers and the other student. They are always doing something fun over there and i get jealous. My daughter has been here for over 5 months now and I couldn't be happier. There was one issue I had a month or two ago and it was very promptly attended to. No complaints whatsoever. There was a change in director but the transition was pretty smooth over all. She absolutely adores the girls that work here and it makes me so happy when I drop her off in the morning and she is super excited to see everyone. To me that is the best praise that could be given. We are happy about the nutrition that school provides in every meals and snacks. We also are happy to see her intellectual progresses she has been made. My son has been in this school for a year and he loves it! I moved to Thousand Oaks and I continue to make the extra drive to this location! The teachers are extremely warm and caring. My son went to this school just shy of 10 months. Everything was wonderful in the beginning. We loved the teachers, director, my son loved going to school. Then the director changed; we got zero explanation for this even when corporate was in the facility. Then his teachers changed and the new didn't even bother to introduce themselves. When you are watching my 1 year old child I believe you should absolutely be introducing yourself. It's not a hole in the wall school its a corporate ran company and should have a set level of standard. I noticed ratio issues quite often when my son being 6 weeks away from 2 would go into the infant room instead of one of the kids in his class closer to the infant age; he was the oldest in the class. In my opinion thats a liability he plays rough, he's a toddler boy. He should not be around infants ALL DAY! He is there to learn and develop . Lastly the front receptionist, Leah, was completely RUDE day in and day out. I called corp. on her and they said they would speak with her that they had never heard such a thing. Really did nothing to reassure me or ANYTHING. I was impressed at the lack of care. Funny thing is I have talked to multiple parents at the school who all feel the same way regarding her. If the face of the school is rude and makes you feel uncomfortable I'm terrified to know the back end of all. I am completely unimpressed with the Tutor Time Wood Ranch location.
