This is one of the nicest orchids I have visited! My daughter and I got a hot apple cider, coffee and she got a pumpkin doughnut and walked around the orchard. (I didn't get anything to eat because they only sell gluten free items in the store and not in the grill.) As we walked we saw the areas for self picking apples, the corn maze, tractor town, a huge slide the pumpkin patch and so much more! We went into the farm store, and purchased some apples and other items. They sell so many good items: I have to go back! Tuttle Orchards is a great family-owned businesses located slightly east of Indianapolis. They have a wonderful farm store with loads of fresh produce and a nice little cafe across the way. It has been a tradition of mine to visit every fall season with friends... and it seems like I share this tradition with many many others. Tuttle is quite busy on Saturdays in fall, but for good reason. You can enjoy activities like apple picking (when the season is right), navigating through a corn maze, and for kids, there are farm-themed play structures. A couple tips: 1. Don't go after it has rained. It gets soooo muddy. We couldn't do the corn maze one year because it rained and flooded. My car also got stuck in the grass (mud) parking lot. 2. My first time visiting Tuttle Orchards and it was awesome! They have an area with lots of food items including corn on the cob, apple donuts, and actual lunch meals. We went for apple picking. So you choose whatever size bag you want and then roam free to pick. They have signs saying which apples are in season and ready to pick. Even though it was busy, the orchard was big enough that we definitely had our own space away from everyone else. I am happy to report that there were a ton of apples ready to pick! I've been to other orchards before where the apples are rotting on the trees. Here, they had a great selection. The trees are very small though. I was in search of a local orchard that had it all and Tuttle's was it. I went for the donuts and the apple slide slushees but it was so much more! Tuttle had everything from homemade salsa and sauces to fresh produce and homemade treats and food! I loved that there were options for apple picking, pumpkin picking and so many fun activities for kids. There's no general fee for attending the orchard only specific activities. This was my first time visiting Tuttle Orchard. I was searching for a Halloween pumpkin to put my apartment, but I was treated to so much more. I purchased a pumpkin and an apple cider slushy, and went through the apple orchard, sunflower fields, and corm maze. Going through the corn maze with my friends was particularly enjoyable and a good bonding experience. I would highly recommend this orchard to anyone who really enjoys a distinctly fall atmosphere. I really enjoyed the day at Tuttle Orchards with my family. We went on a Saturday before Halloween so of course it was packed! There is so much to do, we picked out pumpkins and enjoyed Tractor Town! We enjoyed the grill and the ribeye sandwich was good! My kids loved the homemade applesauce. I went to the cafe and market to order packages of donuts, carmel apples, a bag of apples and a apple cider slushy. Worth the drive to come out here! This place is definitely a "choose your own adventure." You can go apple picking, pumpkin picking, or just come here for the food if you want. There's generally a long line to order, but they have an efficient set up. Anything you get would be great! We got the apple cider slushee, grilled cheese with bacon, and wrap. Each order comes with some fries too. For apple picking, you pay based on the size of bag you choose to fill. I've visited Tuttle's multiple times in the Fall for the past few years and it never disappoints. There are a variety of seasonal activities and this place has organization down to a science. I always pick my own pumpkins, and Tuttles had so many left a few days before Halloween. Their donuts and apple slushies are also a must have if you decide to go here. You can either get the donuts in half dozens, or warm individually. I recommend them warm! They had so many staff/volunteers working to direct everyone around, there were also cops who were monitoring the flow of traffic. Parking was quick and painless, but very muddy. They also had fresh produce in season that you could purchase. They had two tents set up, one for produce and fall items, and the other to line up for the cafe. Their method made it a lot easier for those just wanting to buy produce since they could avoid the larger cafe line. The cafe workers were speeding through orders, and even though the line snaked around the building, I don't believe I waited more than 10 minutes to get my donuts. Super busy for the Carmel apple festival so didn't stay in the festival part for long and definitely did not want to fight the line for a Carmel apple with my choice of toppings. We did get in the line for fresh apple cider slushies and those were well worth it! Definitely walk through the little grocery/farmers market building as it has produce, cute kitchen items, cheeses, baked goods, and honey. What I love about this orchard is you can pick your own apples and they have quite the variety to choose from! You can either pay by weight or pick a bag size and pay a flat rate which is the better option, you just have to be smart about how you fill it so you can get your moneys worth! We will definitely be back again this fall to pick apples and now that we have a son who will be walking around then it'll be even more fun to let him pick his own. I like to begin the visit by walking around the pumpkin patch and hayride area. There are usually some fun photo-ops set up around the areas where the lines for the different attractions begin, and also a few animals -- this year there was a llama and some baby goats. Across the street, the Farm Store sells a variety of different apple and pumpkin-flavored items there, as well as some locally-produced products. Best of all, they have single-serving and regular-sized frozen apple pies, which are perfect for those of us who know full well we're not making one from scratch ourselves. I can vouch for all of their Tuttle Grill options being excellent, but tI'mgenerally a fan of the pulled pork and bratwurst. If you get a meal, it comes with chips and applesauce. I also added cider slushie, which I feel almost obligated to get when coming here because they're so good! One of the things I notice year after year is that Tuttle keeps finding ways to make processes more efficient during the fall weekend days with the grill and other activities. For instance, this year, the corn was in a separate area from the main grill, which meant less waiting for corn and no hold-up in the main grill like for people just wanting corn. And the apple u-pick payment lines were separate from the lines to buy tickets for the other rides and attractions. It's always a fun way to spend a morning or afternoon in the fall. What a wonderful time to be spent at Tuttle Orchards on a beautiful fall day. Went for the first time taking kids and young grandchildren to do the usual fall activities of apple picking, finding a pumpkin, hayride. Saturdays seem to be very busy, as they are closed on Sundays. Get there early before it gets super crowded. We were there at 10:30 and it was manageable but by the time we left at 12:30, lines were long. Parking is free, and on busy days they have officers directing traffic for pedestrians to cross and for traffic come in in and out of the parking lot. There is a handicapped parking pad right near the red and white striped tent. No charge for activities such as the grill, store, apple picking or picking pumpkins. there is a charge for the hayride, which is seven dollars per person, and for tractor town, is seven dollars per child, adults are free. Children under one are free. There is so much to do in this area it is unbelievable! A favorite area three large PVC type tubes next to each other on a small hill that are made into slides. Your kids will get off at the bottom and say go again, and run around to the top and could do that all day. Next to that is some large straw bales for them to climb on to their hearts content. Over a little further is a wonderful little track with two different size tricycles that kids, young and old, can ride around the track. There is a real combine no longer in use that has stairs built up so kids can climb up into the cab. There is a little building with a small twirly slide, one that has a large culvert like tube that spins like a giant hamster wheel! Pen with a llama and two baby goats. It is not a petting zoo, so unable to pet the animals or feed them but they are fun to watch.A small area where they have teeny tiny little John Deere push tractors to ride for that little tots, so cute. Another area with more tractors to ride, then there is a life-size wooden tractor to climb on, A little area with little bouncy ball horses to bounce on, a sand pit with big cedar diggers for the kids to dig in the sand. These are very popular, I think there are only about five or six so there could be a wait for those. I was so impressed with all of the photo opportunities. Throughout the property are tableaux set up for cute family photos, colorful wooden chairs and tables in the middle of pumpkin patches, many of those painted scenes with the head opening for a little ones to poke their heads through and get a cute picture, a little fence that says Tuttles orchard on it with some pumpkins, and then of course the giant corn and pumpkin tower that is kind of the Eiffel tower of the place. it was fun because you can grab a little red wagon to take into the orchards and pumpkin patch. Not all of the apples were available for picking, they only had four kinds that you could pick, but you could buy the other kinds in the store already picked. The small bag of apples was eight dollars, the apples are pretty large so the small big would hold maybe seven apples, larger bag was $16. The kids have a blast going through the orchards and looking for the perfect apple from the tree. The ground is strewn with ones that have fallen off the tree, so for those who are not so sure footed, be sure to walk carefully to avoid tripping hazard. The pumpkin patch was amazing, we commented on how many perfect pumpkins there were! It was hard to make a choice as most of them were symmetrical and very nicely shaped. Small pumpkins are two dollars, bigger ones five dollars and the biggest were 1050 I believe. If you don't want to pick your pumpkin they have bins that are already picked, quite a variety. You can find typical pumpkins, white pumpkins, and they have mini bins of colorful gourds and of course the popular little mini pumpkins I believe the gourds and mini pumpkins were two dollars. I think they also were selling bundles of corn stocks for decorations but I did not see a price on those. Lines can get a little long when paying for apples and pumpkins as this is a very popular place. across the street are the stores and Grill. They were selling roasted corn, and had some meats on the grill. The store is set up a little confusing, and took us a minute to figure out. In the big tent, there were two entrances. One side you enter on the right and it takes you through a que that is for on the site drinks, like hot coffees, apple cider slushy's, and donuts. We opted for the apple cinnamon donuts, six for 699 in the prepackaged clear plastic box. Had one for breakfast this morning and it was delicious! The left line sends you to the tent where they have lots of wares for sale, T-shirts, jams and jellies, we bought a peach salsa, apple cider by the gallon, it is delicious, bags of apples. Also have a hayride. The ticket is seven dollars. They have several tractor rides going continuously so never much of a wait. The hayride is about 15 minutes read more

I went to Tuttle Orchards for the first time as a Kindergarten chaperone for my daughter's field trip. I've been to many orchards all around Indiana and Illinois and Tuttle is now one of my favorites! I highly recommend doing a tour of the orchards as they talk all about how they grow their fruit, wash and process for purchase! They've also got a huge area that is gated off for kids to play with playsets, huge slides and giant hills. They've also got a corn maze, animals to look at and a u-pick apple orchard and pumpkin patch. We took a haride out to the pumpkin patch which was awesome because we didn't have to carry a heavy pumpkin all the way back! As a reminder, I did not go during a weekend so the crowds were very minimal. I'm pretty sure our 6 kindergarten classes were 90% of the crowds that day. PS. Plain and simple, this orchard handles crowds who want to celebrate Autumn as well as any I've been to. They have the sheriff's department directing traffic on the highway and staff/volunteers directing on the property. They have the playground, corn maze, animals (not really a petting zoo), and a "U-Pick" orchard on the west side of the street. The store and food vendors are on the east side which helps to spread the crowd out. Prices are reasonable and even though there are lines, they seemed to move pretty quickly. I was mainly interested in getting apples so I appreciate that they had a free samples tent outside the store so that I could tell how some varieties tasted that aren't common in most grocery stores. I found a variety that I liked and was able to breeze through the store to make my purchase. I get the feeling I picked the wrong day to visit Tuttle Orchards - no pun intended. I've heard SO many great things about this place, despite the fact that there are orchards closer to me on the northside I can choose from. In the hopes of getting the best pick of apples, I went today instead of waiting until later in September or even October. I thought by late afternoon most people would be leaving, but nope. There was a line to get into the parking lot (at least parking is free) and there were so. many. people. Luckily, once I grabbed a 1/4 peck u-pick bag ($6 and fit about 12 small/medium size apples) and headed to the orchard, there weren't many crowds because all were spread out amongst the rows. I was disappointed to see many varieties were not yet ripe - bad timing on my part. Anyone know the sweet spot (re: timing) for best apple variety? I skipped the hay ride/corn maze/kid area since it was just me and some friends but those are extra charges. I appreciate that there isn't a general admission fee to visit Tuttle, though. The worst part was the farm store/cafe area. It was caramel apple festival day and the line to make your own caramel apple was HUGE. Like over 100 people. We still had to wait in like for 15-20 minutes to get into the cafe and grab a cider slushie, donut and apple. Slushie was very refreshing and the donut is delicious! Also, I came hoping to find the sunflower farm...I saw no signage so maybe it's closed? When should I come in order to see that in full bloom? Overall disappointed with the experience - far too many people and no organized lines - but I understand I probably went on a very busy day. Tuttle Orchards is another great example of a spot that provides inexpensive family fun. I came to the orchard to see the beautiful sunflowers. Parking was super easy. I parked and then walked up to buy a ticket. I bought a ticket for the wagon ride and to see the sunflowers. They had options for Apple picking and a kid zone. The sunflower patch was beautiful! I highly suggest going to see it. They offer wagons you can borrow to pull your kids around. This year the patch was about 4 acres. There is a separate patch for cutting. After taking some photos, I hopped on the wagon to learn the history of the farm. The ride was wonderful. I learn a lot about the different products produced on the farm. Last, I went to the country store. Honestly, this was my favorite part! I was able to buy homemade donuts, breads and lots of jams. The store is fairly priced. I highly suggest it. My second year coming to Tuttles and it does not disappoint! They have sheriffs deputies directing traffic into the free parking lot and staff offering help with golf cart rides. There are two sides to this orchard. On one side is the store, cafe, and greenhouse. The other side has more of the orchard including the apple rows, pumpkin patch, kids area, corn maze and tractor rides. I would have to say that the prices for everything is very affordable for such a large orchard. It can get busy so I suggest going early in the day. Somehow reviewing Tuttle Orchard has fallen through the cracks over the years. This was probably my fourth or fifth visit and I never leave empty handed. Bring on the ugly peanut pumpkins and bags filled with UPick apples! I can't get enough of this sort of thing. Oh, they also offer UPick pumpkins, FYI. Tuttles offers the full farm experience: hay rides, Pygmy goats, pumpkins, fall decor of mums and corn stalks, apples, apple cider slushies and doughnuts, bee hive exhibit, corn maze and so on and so on. You could keep the kiddos entertained for a half day here. My only complaint is that the prices can run on the steep side. During our recent visit, the farm was filled with school groups and busses. As someone who grew up on a farm it makes me extra happy to see city kiddos experiencing the rural lifestyle. read more
