I spent a couple weeks gathering all the components I've been eyeing and made the pilgrimage down to Micro Center (in Tustin) to take advantage of a great MOBO/Proc/RAM bundle. The last time I built a PC was in 2008 and at this point in my life, I just wanted an expert to help me get everything running and optimized. Gar was that expert. This guy knows his stuff and I couldn't be happier with my (first) experience at Helix. He runs the shop by himself and is clearly a lifelong PC enthusiast. It was really cool to see all his customers more 'aesthetic' builds that were in progress. I'm old so I wanted something with as little RGB as possible (haha). He even has a mini museum of PC components from decades past on display which really sent me down a VERY nerdy memory lane. He put together a 9800X3D / 5080 air cooled monster and everything runs perfectly. He optimized Win11 and walked me through everything he did when I picked up the machine. I would consider his shop a unicorn in 2026. Physical location. Passionate business owner who is offering top quality service in a niche industry. Fair prices.

He took on a really challenging build for me (SFFPC) and I couldn't be happier with the result. He's also a great guy, which always helps. Won't go anywhere else for my PC needs!

This Guy Is the Mac Whisperer (and Probably a Jedi in Disguise)…read more So here's the deal: if your iMac suddenly pulls a "Broadway blackout" and leaves you staring into the void while your life's work hums faintly in the background, you need Tommy from MacMyDay -- not tomorrow, today. Tommy showed up like a scene-stealing character from a tech-comedy crossover of Superbad and South Park (minus the profanity and teenage chaos). He was upbeat, wicked smart, totally honest, and not once did I feel like I was being hustled, upsold, or dragged into a 14-step "tech enlightenment program." The man is a tech guru meets philosopher, with a little bit of music producer and friendly neighbor energy thrown in. He didn't just assess my ancient iMac (which, bless it, had finally gone to the dark side -- literally), he walked me through realistic, budget-friendly options to rebuild my setup without making me feel like I had to sell a kidney or join a startup. His advice? All tailored for me, not some one-size-fits-all checklist. And he made it fun -- yes, fun -- to talk about external drive casings and system upgrades. Tommy is observant, kind, and thinks like someone who's been in your shoes -- which means you walk away feeling heard, helped, and way less freaked out about your tech. Also, 10/10 for vibes, conversation, and not being a robot. Seriously, just call him. It's rare to find people like this in any field -- much less one where trust, data, and your digital life are on the line. Five stars, because 10 stars isn't an option.

He has been our troubleshooting Tech ever since for the last 2 years. He has responded quickly remotely or by coming to our office to fix a problem. He recently in one day replaced a hard drive on my computer and stayed at the office until after 9 PM to get my new hard drive up and running for the next day. You can not go wrong with this man and his technical expertise and dedication to the job of helping small businesses stay up and running efficiently!

Luckily, Vito answered and was in the office, so I brought the computer in and he offered to replace the hard drive for $140, labor & reinstalling everything (by imaging the old hard drive which was just old, not infected) included. This was at about 4:00 PM on a Saturday, and he would have been able to return the computer that night!! But I wasn't in that big of a hurry and picked it up the next day so the guy wouldn't have to work late. Here's the 5-star part: I discovered that email would not under any circumstances display pictures, and that Windows Explorer/My Computer would not do searches. So using the image of the old hard drive had evidently not gone as well as hoped--the damage, whatever it was, caused some parts of the image to not transfer. Then after Vito did clean re-installs, there were further issues, and the short version is that Vito had to wipe the new hard drive completely and re-install everything from scratch. POINT: after the initial work, he spent at least 5-6 hours on the phone with me, in the office, and on his own getting the new hard drive completely working and all details the way I wanted, at no extra charge, and with no complaints or attitude or hinting that it might be my fault like some people would. I will always take my computers to him if and when they have any problems! VITO YOU'RE THE BEST--THANK YOU!!!

I was charged $400 for the repair, which was a lot of money for me to come up with as a single parent. I even explained to them how difficult it was for me to come up with the money, but I trusted them and paid because I believed they were going to properly fix the computer. Unfortunately, the computer only worked for about a week before the same problem started happening again, it would randomly turn off. We contacted the business and explained that we were still having the same issue. We were told to continue using it and that the problem should go away, and if it didn't, to bring it back. The problem continued, so we brought the computer back. When we did, the only thing that was done was cleaning the charging port with a Q-tip and texting my daughter a MacBook "hack" code to reboot the computer. After paying $400 for a repair, I expected the actual problem to be diagnosed and fixed-not a temporary solution or something we could have easily tried ourselves. I honestly feel completely scammed and disappointed. That $400 was not easy for me to come up with, and I made that sacrifice because my daughter needed a working computer for school. She is a senior in high school, and I trusted this business to help us. Instead, I'm left with a computer that still doesn't work properly and $400 that I cannot afford to lose. I understand that not every repair is guaranteed to solve an issue immediately, but I do expect a business to stand behind the work they charge customers for and make a genuine effort to resolve the problem when the same issue comes back. I trusted this business, and unfortunately, I regret that decision.
