This mall surprised me! I've grown up in Southern California my whole life and now live in Chicago for grad school, and I knowwww shopping. When I heard I was going to a mall in the Detroit area, I wasn't sure what to expect. This mall is sizable and offers many boutique/high-end stores that are commonly found in California, along with one that I've never seen before (Lord & Taylor) and now love. Lovely spacious clean shiny mall. One thing this mall is not is exclusive. And in this economy that is a good thing. You can find clothes, gifts and dining options for an array of budgets. Dining options are delicious with the always packed Cheesecake Factory and an ample food court. The stores are pretty standard however there are a few that stand out including Just Baked and designer costume jewelry store Marlees. I enjoyed friendly and attentive service at both the Cheesecake Factory and Sephora. In fact every store I walked into I was immediately greeted with a friendly smile and a Hello. This does not happen at every mall around the country. read more

Nicely situated off of Novi Rd., Twelve Oaks mall has all your classic mall shops in one location. The mall itself is fairly standard with a nicer Nordstrom wing and higher end shops like Arden B., Michael Kors, etc. Though I don't shop there myself, I appreciate the range of shops they offer. I do like their Macy's, especially the shoe section. It is definitely the biggest and most comprehensive one I've seen here in MI, and it's always well maintained and tidy. Contrary to Somerset Collection in Troy, Twelve Oaks mall department stores are presented nicer and customer service is much more pleasant. High marks just for that. Walking through the mall is pretty easy, and it is divided in four quadrants. Signage is big and easy to see, and plenty of restrooms off of the wings. You can easily spend several hours there if you take your time. Great place to shop, ample parking, and easy to get to. I'll be back! :) read more

Cali transplant and a new Michigander here, just wanted to say that I'm glad I live near a great mall, otherwise I'd go insane. It has a good distribution of shops for kids, teeny boppers, the scenesters/hipsters, the emo (if that's still in), and the "wise." If you're into designer things, they only have Coach. If you want things like LV, Burberry, Chanel, Gucci, etc, you're in the wrong Mall. Drive another 30 minutes on the opposite side towards Somerset mall. If that's still too peasant-like, you're probably in the wrong state and fly another 6 hours to New York or Los Angeles for the real deal. This mall is better than Fairlane Town Center mall but not as good as Somerset mall. Aside from the distribution of stores, there's a variety of restrooms and directory boards at convenient areas (which if you're like me, it's kind of a BIG deal). Food court has a good selection of food--you always gotta have your cookies, pretzels, asian food, mexican joint, sandwich for the healthy ppl, and obviously pizza (every Michigander's favorite). They occasionally have themes at the center of the mall, which is always nice for the seasons and holidays. They got one of those playpens that are infested with bacteria, which kids seem to always love and for parents, free entertainment while you shop at Forever XXI. I always can tell a mall is good if they have H&M. This one does, but the men's side makes up for a third while the rest are for the ladies. Another important aspect for me when it comes to malls is how many benches there are outside of the stores. We, men, enjoy our friendly benches as we wait for our ladies. If they can add more benches in front of Victoria Secret and Forever XXI, that would be the dream. Actually, they can throw in a bed and cell phone charger too, that would be awesome. Wait, I don't know about that bed and teeny boppers in the same location. Scratch all that. Last but not least, the mall gets more recognition cuz of the recent installment of Cheesecake Factory. In town from Cleveland, I had some time to kill before driving back and stopped by Twelve Oaks based on a recommendation from a friend. The drive from Dearborn to the mall was so beautiful. The green scenery was breathtaking. Parking was easy to find, although there were a lot of cars. I'm guessing it may not be so easy on the weekends. Luckily for me, it was a Thursday afternoon. Once I entered, I noticed the mall was clean, and HUGE! It's so beautiful too, and the layout is easy to navigate but easy to get lost if you don't make note of your entrance. Yes, it's that big! Also, it seems like the largest group of people shopping that day were people between the ages of 14-18, some with obnoxious behavior, but I just blocked that out and focused on shopping, obviously! There are a lot of stores to choose from, it's not one of those malls that are uselessly large, where the stores are like a mile apart (hate that). You can find just about anything you're looking for at this mall. I would come back here again when I'm in Michigan! read more

Checked out this mall in Novi. It's a good mall, has a lot of the normal mall shops. Starbucks inside oh yeah! lol. Parking was easy, staff and customers were mostly friendly. A few shoe stores to get you a fresh pair of nikes and socks. Mall is 2005 era I'd say but getting there. read more

I better get used to this place since the Cheesecake Factory has decided to make this the first Michigan location ( I thought Partridge Creek and Somerset made more sense) We went to check out this mall since we were in the area (Ikea in Canton) as it was on the to do list for almost a year. Overall the mall l, spacious clean, and offers all the stores you need, high end and regular (A great Sanders location inside as well) I can see they have upgraded many things over the years in the interior and exterior. A mall is a mall and other the the Cheesecake Factory I do not see anything that unique here. I personally like Somerset, Great Lakes, Partridge Creek, and even Lakeside Mall better (maybe I am just used to the others though) I feel like this Mall is on the outskirts of Metro Detroit a bit (where does all the traffic come from to make it so popular) but what do I know I am used to being in the East or Central Metro area and I feel Novi is quite far out. I would like to know if the people from Ann Arbor to Lansing, and Southfield/Farmington Hills make this area boom. I also thought the surrounding area of the mall would have more things to do and see but I was wrong or we never ventured off far enough. Overall a good mall that I see improving further and visiting more frequently. read more

Sure, I mean...it's a mall. A fancy upscale mall at that..but still a mall. Expect the stores to be high class (pottery barn, williams sanoma, gucci, etc). Strangely, there's not a ton of places to eat (in terms of full service restaurants), but they do have a California Pizza Kitchen now, so what more do you need. If you're in the area and are looking for a mall, this is it. Don't both going anywhere else. read more

Really love this mall it is my go to mall. I find pretty much everything I am looking for. Only bad thing is that parking is ALWAYS packed. This is my go to mall in southeast Michigan. Living in Livonia it's not far from home and much bigger than any other mall in the area. There is a good mix of stores, plenty of room to walk in the concourses and the people who shop here aren't dirtbags. Not only are the stores good but the restaurants are good too. I won't claim to be an afficianado but I've been to generally every mall in the greater Detroit area. This one solidly sits in the number two spot right behind summerset of course. There are good restaurants like cheesecake factory, a nice Sushi place and tons of ff in the food court. It's a pretty massive mall, not that you'd want to but I think it would take the majority of the day to walk along all of the shops on both levels. I went to Novi high so way way back in the day this would be a popular spot to hang during the day now they have a new* addition sporting a Nordstrom's which is a bit more high end. Stores range from regular national brands like Gap, Brookstone etc... to upscale like Godiva, J-crew, Sur La Table, there are no luxury shops yet. *2-3 years old read more

This mall is decently sized. We actually spent the afternoon there. A few interesting stores that I haven't seen in malls before, so that was interesting and fun. Bathrooms were all well stocked. They have a nice play area for children, and the entire place was well kept. Huge make up and salon selection. Overall a very lovely trip. read more

This is one of most dr gorgeous mall. I ever have seen sin I was born all from many good memories over playground, awesome shops. And many things around here.... Excellent choice fo use this place when we a in town can always shop for new clothes and. Everything else... my husband and I brought stunning outfits for one of my friends wedding by great deal from Macy's w got sixty percent off on item.. Somerset Collection is definitely #1 in comparison to the other malls in the area. Twelve Oaks is probably 3rd when referring to the physical experience, but definitely one of the worse if you are looking for sales. Due to this place being so over populated, I feel like there is no need for huge markdowns & etc. I did not find anything I liked when I came here. However, it does have the majority of the stores that everyone would normally shops at. Also, parking is a huge challenge here. Be prepare to walk and fight for parking spots. read more

I think the other reviews took the words out of my mouth. This is a clean spacious mall with a lot of great high end and moderately priced stores. I grew up going to this mall, and the Nordstrom addition a few years back and the new stores have really classed it up. I feel that whatever store I go in, nothing is too snooty and that even if I pay more here than online, then I am going to get good service and quality. My new faves: Sephora, Clarks, and Sur La Table (Just opened!!! Ask for a coffee sample from the espresso machines ranging from $1000-$4000 - coffeemaker of my dreams. French press is more within my budget). Express, William Sonoma and Body Shop are just a few that kept my interest over the last few decades (and I just dated myself!). If you hate malls and crowds, especially now, during the holidays, this one has plenty of places to sit it out while waiting for your shopaholics =) read more

I still cannot get over how big the malls in Detroit are! We stopped in just to check out the Oakley store and I was impressed with how open and bright this mall is. We came in between Sears and Macys which that part of the parking lot seemed quiet and a little dark for my liking. The mall is two floors and have a good selection of stores. The layout seems a bit strange with wings darting out all over the place but overall the mall has a good flow. I was thrown off by the 1 person at a time bathrooms though. I found that to be odd for a mall. The food court has a good mix of places to eat with some of them being more local vs national names. read more

This is the best place I ever gone too and it's been my favorite mall since I came here to Michigan.

This place is awesome. It reminds me of Valley Fair Mall in California. I get a bit lost though when we're walking around, but I can't complain since they have a wide variety of shops from the ritzy (ie Lord and Taylors) to the cheapy (ie Clair's Accessories). The mall is full of light coming from the windowed ceilings and a huge play area for your little ones near JC Penney's (I think...or was it Macy's?). We ended up walking around here twice since my stay here in Michigan just to walk around and get some exercise instead of couping ourselves up at home since that's quite easy to do during this cold cold icy season (I like my warm sleeping bag). I'm glad this place is nearby! read more

This mall is always hustling and bustling. There is always someone who can help you out when you get lost. If you don't like crowds this is not the place for you as this place is always crowded. However there are plenty of stores and options for you to buy whatever you need. read more

We visit Twelve Oaks everytime we are in Michigan to visit relatives..this mall has many popular retailers including Nordstrom and Abercrombie. As I am from out of the country.. The free WiFi throughout the mall is an added bonus! I was around here during Christmas and I agree on another yelper's review regarding Starbucks.. Well.... after going into Sephora locates in the twelve oaks mall to look around for some cologne I was looked up and down and harassed by security that Sephora workers called in guessing they thought I was stealing? Odd and very rude. Poor customer service... please watch for people who actually steal rather than innocent people. read more

So many puppies to choose from and great staff! I had so many questions and called so many times before finally choosing a puppy. All the staff members were super helpful and answered all of my questions. I also loved the puppy pack. Was so much easier to decide on a puppy knowing ours came with so many start up items. read more

Twelve Oaks has really stepped up its game since the renovation. A better selection of stores, better layout, nicer food court. It's a shame I always forget about it, when I go I'm pleasantly surprised. They now have a Nordstrom to anchor the building, which is also anchored by Macy's and Penneys. They have a couple stores that Somerset doesn't have (but should!) like Martin + Osa, and they just recently got a California Pizza Kitchen to increase the competition. The only complaint about the mall is the circular nature of it all. I never know where to park when I just want to run in and out. read more

On December 20th at the Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi Michigan, our service was so poor that it was unbelievable. My boss ordered the shrimp alfredo without the tomatoes and when she received her dish it had tomatoes seeds. When she notified the waiter of this mishap he suggested to her to get another dish which was a tomatoes dish. LOL! Needless to say, the manager stated he would take care of it and she requested that her dish be put in a take out container and to her surprise the dish appeared in front of her on a plate. Also, my coworker ordered a salad to go and the salad appeared in front of her as well. When she tried to eat her salad last night she discovered the salad only had tomatoes and lettuce. She even took a picture of the salad . The tomatoes were so huge she attempted to dice the tomatoes and she discovered that the tomatoes were rotten and had mold on it. read more

For some reason, the most popular place in TOM is Starbucks. There is always a line of about 20 people. I guess nobody can shop without a big overpriced latte. Anyway...I like the variety of stores at this mall. I feel more comfortable at Twelve Oaks than Somerset, although there is an abundance of over-privileged teens swarming the place at any given time. Parking can be a real challenge on the Nordstrom side and near the food court. Speaking of the food court, the seating section is gigantic, but there really is only about seven or so restaurants. read more

They're choosing to stay open during the Covid-19 outbreak because money is more important to them over the health of their workers. I mean, even Apple has closed their stores at this point yet this mall is still subjecting their workers and all of the surrounding locals to the possibility of catching this virus. The right thing to do would be to close down temporarily like most other things. Once they cause an outbreak their mall will never be the same but they only care about money so here we are. read more

The thing about Twelve Oaks is its identity crisis. Until the mid 90's or so, it was the biggest and one of the newer middle-class malls around. Then came Somerset North, which was designed by a man who had visited a mall or two in California. Suddenly, Twelve Oaks started to question what it was. Was it the place where families piled out of their Dodge Caravans to buy riding lawnmowers and trendy teen clothing? Was it the place where "luxury" items should be found? The customers, too... they started questioning themselves. "Should I buy a $40 pair of shoes in a mall that has a Payless? Those are $20 shoes. I am not a $20 person. Maybe I should buy my $40 shoes at the other mall." In the midst of the crisis, Twelve Oaks' management decided to build a smaller "upscale" mall and attach it to the existing mall. Of course, "upscale" is a relative term, which in Metro Detroit means "Items that can be seen worn or used by people on 'reality' television." A place for the type of person who professes their undying devotion to shopping at "Nordstroms" without ever having paid attention to the name of the store. At the same time, management seems intent on changing each anchor wing in to its own socio-economic micro-mall. The area around Sears is often considered "the ghetto" (despite the Apple Store and Brookstone being there), the JC Penney wing being "clothes for the bland family", and so on. So on any given day, you can bump in to the dad who just wants to get a new lawnmower blade at the Sears store that seems like its going out of business, the fifty thousand dollar-aire who is pretty sure she's "above" Twelve Oaks but can't conjure a specific reason that explains why Somerset is better, the transplant from Toledo who tries not to smirk as he has his 1997 Pontiac Bonneville valet parked, and a cavacalade of surly mall workers who have never met a customer at Twelve Oaks who had a justifiable reason for being pretentious about anything ever. This is a nice mall. It was clean. Bathrooms were easy to locate. (very important for pregeritas like myself) Variety of stores to choose from. Some I'm not so familiar with but as long as they have Victorias Secret, Aerie, Bath and Body Works and an Auntie Ann's I'm good to go! Was hoping their play area was a good one. I like to take mall trips on rainy days to let the little one tire out. It was disappointing that they don't have much of a play area. Plus majority of the kids that were playing were waaaay too big to be there. Can't blame the mall for that tho. That's more of a parenting thing. read more

I grew up coming to Twelve Oaks Mall. I've seen it transform from the yucky 80's-early 90s style up to its svelte style it has today. The mall truly reached uber nice status after the new wing opened a few years back. Twelve Oaks offers a great selection of stores, almost something for everyone. I really like the Nordstroms here, hate the Macy's (but I can't stand Macy's at all) and I enjoy the Apple store here. I do really wish there was a MAC cosmetics store, I prefer the stores over the counters. The food court does leave something to be desired but food is also available in other spots throughout the mall. I really like the sushi place here. There is also Olga's, Max & Erma's, Tin Fish, CPK and Nordstrom Bistro so you can grab a bite to eat. I feel like new stores are always coming in here, but that also means some stores leave. I always notice a few blank spots but I think that's more a symptom of the economy. The only thing I cannot stand are those stupid kiosks! No thanks, I do not want to try your nasty lotion or that hair straightener that has been used on 100+ before me. Overall, Twelve Oaks is a pretty good mall. I definitely can get most of my shopping done here...but if I do need something more fancy-schmancy, I may just skip over to Somerset rather than try here first. read more

In general, I hate shopping.... that being said, most of the time this doesn't make me want to gouge my eyes out.... It has gotten a lot bigger since I lived in Michigan and has most stores people would want to shop at. With the exception of super high end stuff, but since the expansion, they even have a number of those stores now. It's decently clean, but the large about of kiosks in the halls annoys the hell out of me. If I wanted to stop at your kiosk I would, don't talk to me or chase me down if I'm not looking or stopping, k?! Parking also tends to be a bit of a disaster here, on the plus side there is a light at most of the entrances to help you make your escape when you've had enough. read more
