Walking by, I realized I didn't want to eat turkey leftovers one more time, so I pitched it all in the trash and popped in for a hot, fresh Philly Cheesesteak. Best decision of the day! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was so nice to eat outside, on a sunny winter day, all by myself.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was taking so many pictures one of the workers came out and asked if I wanted her to take a picture of me with the San Antonio sign. I declined, telling her I wasn't a tourist. She said she had thought I was, and I took it as a compliment. Tourists are impressed with everything around them, and that's how I felt in that moment.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Upon arriving at this quaint little establishment, you can see they have a nice, covered area to sit and eat at for those sunny/blistering days.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was greeted by the owner of Twelve Stone who mans the front of the house while his spouse is a "retired" boss wife in the kitchen! He was incredibly pleasant, professional and personable. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The shop was clean and organized.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love establishments that show pictures of the food because it allows you to visualize what you're about to indulge in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They do run daily specials and he let me know what that was. They also have a display of home-made fresh baked goods right in front! How could you not get a scrumptious dessert after your meal? Freshly baked cookies & brownies!!! Yum! They have a simple but delicious menu catered to everyone! They also have freshly made shakes, snow cones and the best ice cream, blue bell!! I ordered: - toasted Italian sub: pepperoni, ham, salami, cheese with lettuce, tomatoes and a house made dressing, toasted on a sub bun sprinkled with so goodness on top. It was perfectly toasted, with the right amount of condiments. Hot and fresh! - walnut brownies: soft, not overly sweet and perfectly balanced with crushed walnuts on top! It was heaven! It was served with lays potato chips and a drink. If you're looking for fresh, hot and fast service without the fast-food flavor, come here! I will definitely be back to try their other sandwiches!!

Everything was so good!! I was really impressed with the freshness of the sandwich (Philly). I really enjoyed the strawberry lemonade I've got a sweet tooth, but if you don't really like the sugar aspect it's probably not for you. The service from the owner was very good and he was very nice. I loved the salsa verde. The stranger things stickers also brightened up my day. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance inside and out was very nice and I enjoyed the games offered. (Corn hole, big jenga)[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I will definitely be going back.

This lil mom and pop shop was awesome!! Very friendly and personable. I asked about the cookies and said my mom made them this morning. And she's the little old lady sitting at the end of the counter lol. Many delicious treats. I had a milkshake and a cookie and both were delicious. My son had a tiger's blood sno cone and it was gone. They also have food!! Give them a try. You won't be disappointed.

Such a great little place on the south side! Benny and Maria (the owners) take pride in their shop and it is one of our favorite places to grab a quick bite to eat. Maria makes all the soups herself and they are AMAZING! My favorite is the loaded baked potato soup, but the tomato bisque is excellent as well. I always get the grilled cheese and soup and it hits the spot. Maria's brownies are so yummy and I always make sure to buy an extra one for my dad because they are his favorite. My kids also love coming here for both the food and because they love the outdoor seating area. There is a giant connect four game and space for them to play while we enjoy our food. There is plenty of parking out front too! I had a photo of my soup but yelp won't let me upload! Will try to add it later.

What a little gem in the Southside of SA! This family-owned business is a worthwhile stop if you're in the area and have a craving for a snack. The place is super clean and they have a great patio for hanging out complete with tables and outdoor mini games. The service was fairly quick, especially given they make everything fresh on the spot. They have a yummy variety of savory snacks and sweets. A must try is their hibiscus tea. They put the ice in a cup in the freezer so when you get it, the drink is extra cold and delicious! I went with a group of coworkers and we got a range of items. Their Corn in a cup was yummy and nachos came complete with jalapeños. Can't wait to go back to try more! Such a friendly space! I'm sure they get busy when the high school across the street releases around 4pm on weekdays so just prepare yourself for that if you find yourself strolling up around that time.

This place is downtown so a long drive for me . But I've been wanting to try it . I ordered the chili cheese Fritos I wish I'd known it was melted cheese and beans and not nachos cheese . It was on but got really mushy really fast. We waited over a half an hour for our order and it was a very hot day. The snowballs were ok . The syrup was a little watered down. The staff was very friendly .

This shop sells fudge, truffles, candied apples, and - what I came for - ice cream! They had a lot of ice cream flavors to choose from, a least a couple dozen. The smiling young woman working behind the ice cream counter offered to give tastes, but I had already figured out which flavors I wanted. I chose two scoops in a cup, one of Cappucino Chip and the other Turtle Cheesecake. They have several tables to sit at, some along a hallway and more in a back room. I took a seat and was in awe of the huge scoops given. The Cappuccino Chip had a mild flavor (I prefer it stronger) but a fair number of tiny chocolate chips. The Turtle Cheesecake had an excellent cheesecake flavor with swirls of caramel, praline pecans, and caramel-filled mini turtles. I'm usually not fond of nuts in my ice cream but I actually enjoyed the pralines. In my humble opinion, there were too few turtles. But I still loved it. If you're in the mood for a cold, creamy treat while visiting the Alamo, you'll find this to be the perfect place to visit.

The real issue came at the cash register. The woman handling payments was, unfortunately, not kind at all. In fact, "rude" would be the most generous description. It actually took my wife about ten minutes just to complete the payment for a couple of ice creams, which felt longer than the ice cream itself took to melt. What made it even more uncomfortable was watching how she interacted with other employees. It wasn't just unprofessional--it was the kind of scene you'd expect in a low-budget psychological thriller where you start wondering if someone should call for backup. So while the ice cream itself and the front-line staff were great, the overall experience was overshadowed by the atmosphere at the register. Small, crowded, and unkind is not a combination that brings us back. We'll pass next time.
