My husband and I always enjoy our time at Twelves Grill & Cafe, and the food is consistently wonderful. One of our favorite starters is the Shrimp Lejon, it never disappoints. I also love their seasonal specials. Right now they have a limoncello cake that is absolutely scrumptious. Another plus is its BYOB too, but they offer spirts too. The staff is friendly and always happy to see us when we stop in, which makes the experience feel even more special. Whether you go for lunch or dinner, the ambiance of the old bank building sets the stage for a relaxing and memorable meal. Twelves Grill is an untypical setting for a restaurant: an old bank with the former vault room found in the middle of the dining area which makes for a unique focal point. The heavy metal vault door is purposely left open so the interior side of the door is on display, and therefore all the intriguing locking components of yesteryear can be viewed. Our waitress was excellent, a very cheerful person. Started off with a tasty coconut shrimp appetizer with a nice Thai chili dipping sauce. A California Reuben that followed was just so-so. The turkey meat was thin, processed slices and the bread was pretty plain. Since this sammie comes with coleslaw inside of it, the panini treatment misses the mark. For bistro pricing, I think I had different expectations. Overall, our opinion was that it was ok. There were two servers running the whole floor, so I can wholeheartedly understand the slow service; but the thing that really stuck for me was the steak and fries. The portion of steak to mushroom to side was very off-balanced and the steak was pre-sliced, which I didn't understand as the slices were not bite-sized and allowed for the steak to rest on the plate, making the fries soggy. Otherwise, we tried a few different menu items and thought similarly that they were fine. read more

My husband said his burger was very good. It was a standard pub burger flavor. Bun was good quality and had that buttery overtone that complements the meat. Veggies were flavorful and fresh. Short rib had a lot of fat on it and the "sauce" was extremely watery. It was as good as a home cooked meal, but, though the entree was cheaper than this same dish closer to my home (Philly burbs), it was not on par with prices charged for the soupy sauce and 1/4 to 1/3 the meat mass being gristle. It was tasty and however watery, the flavors were there in the sauce, meat, Brussels sprouts, carrots, and potatoes. Portion was generous. Again, I just had an issue with the fat and watery sauce. The homemade potato chips were a bit overcooked. Considering I can get a huge bag of Utz or Herr's for $4, for the menu price of $16, I expected the truffle fry of potato chips. These were good but not $16 good. I am not a trendmonger for burnt-black pizza and I won't fall for it on my chips either; the brown chips were disappointing. The portion was somewhat large (my husband and young child shared them) but not enough to take home for later. Food was tasty and they have a lot going for them, there are just some things to tweak. My dish needs gristle removed and reduction or thickener for the sauce. Potato chips need a catchy gourmet twist to make the $16 worth it (truffle chips?), or charge less. If these things were improved I'd be a lot happier. read more

We walked in on a Saturday evening without a reservation and got a table right away. Service was impeccable and the menu large. We loved the mushroom soup with lobster and the Caesar salad. We stop here after spending some time seeing the Longwood Garden's Christmas display. We had a wonderful meal! We happened to come on Buck-A-Shuck night so we each had a dozen oysters. Our love of their mushroom soup garnished with crabmeat is outstanding, it's ordered each visit. My husband had the pasta special, cheese ravioli in a red pepper cream sauce, with spinach & fresh grated parmesan. It's been quite awhile since I've been to Twelves and the first time I went for lunch. They were quite busy and having an air conditioner issue- but the one waitress seemed to be handling it fairly well just not very quickly! I started with the mushroom soup- it was delicious- needed a touch of salt , but the texture and combination of mushrooms was very nice. Unfortunately it was practically cold -. The waitress happily had it reheated but it's a pet peeve of mine . Soup should be hot!! I had the bruschetta of the week which was lemon herb ricotta with peaches honey and some fried prosciutto on top. It was good but the ricotta was extremely herbaceous I felt a little less herbs and more lemon would have been lighter and less jarring. It was hard to tell it it was peaches it was topped with. They may have been canned or something? Husband had the California Reuben when he said was good. I really feel like this place could be so much better if they just went the extra mile. read more

We had an 80th birthday celebration in Twelves private room that was everything I had hoped, as well as the perfect size. The food was so good and everyone raved about it. Once again, a truly fine meal. We started with the mushroom appetizer special, which was customized for my dietary needs, which was a feast for the eyes as well as the palate. I had the parmesan crusted chicken my companions had the double pork chop and the gorgonzola gnocchi. Both of which looked beyond delicious. Visiting Twelves Grill & Cafe allowed us to travel to a new area for dinner. The restaurant is in an old bank (we loved the large vault door), and the atmosphere was comfortable and relaxing. Our server was lovely as well, attentive yet not overbearing. Overall, the food was ok. Although truffle oil was poured on top of the cream of local mushroom soup, there were no lump crab pieces, and it could have used more salt/seasoning. As an entree, the Jail Island Salmon was nothing special (I could have made it at home in a microwave), and the grilled fennel pieces were too hard to even cut and eat (something that should have been checked before the dish was served). The star of this dish was the braised lentils with pomegranate seeds. Fortunately, there was plenty of it, and it was quite delicious. Overall, both my husband and I thought our dinners needed more salt/seasoning. Dessert was a date and walnut banana cake drizzled with honey. We would have liked more honey as the cake was dense, and we felt the cake should have been warmed slightly. One big positive is that this restaurant is a BYOB although be aware that they charge $5 per bottle corkage. read more

I went here a few years ago and had a lovely meal. Today I met the same people I met here back then. Everything was on point. It's an old building (a bank I think) that the owners repurposed. Plenty of parking. They have a private room in the back if you're looking for a party of 20 I'm guessing. I had the burger with cheddar and bacon. The temperature was the way I requested and the meat blend was tasty and properly seasoned. The other dishes look fine and I think there are vegetarian options available. The owner who didn't announce she was the owner came over to refill our glasses so she is hands on with the management of the restaurant. I have lived near this restaurant for a long time, but just had never gone. The surf and turf risotto was fantastic and I just cannot say enough about the service. We came for our 24th anniversary dinner, this used to be a regular place we came to pre covid for special occasions. We sat outside which was very nice, small town atmosphere. The iceberg wedge salad was very good! Unfortunately we had to send back both our entrees. My husband ordered a med rare steak and it came out well down( not even close, his words and he is not picky!). I ordered crab cakes and the one was cold in the middle, not what you would expect from a $38 dish! They reheated mine in some way and brought out the same partially eaten dish, again not what I would expect for the price we paid. And my husband was pleased with the second attempt. The service was fine, just very slow. I cannot count how many times our server apologized for the wait, and then of course the food. It's disappointing and frustrating to have to order the same thing all the time. One of my family members loves to go, but we often choose somewhere else where everyone can enjoy. Went for a pre-birthday dinner with my husband on Saturday night. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Hubby ordered the fried oysters and twelves burger - both were delicious. I got the mushroom soup (highly recommend) and the lion's mane tacos. Despite being a little oily for my taste, the tacos were outstanding. Service was great! We were seated in a room off to the side, which could benefit from maybe a little décor or some light music. It was small so it felt like you were encroaching on other's conversations. Our family of four celebrated our daughter's birthday last evening. We've dined at Twelves many times over the years so we knew what to expect. But we were pleasantly surprised. They have stepped up their game since our previous visit. The quality of the food has always been good but last night it was the best we've had in a long time, anywhere. Our starters were the Twelves bread that came with delicious sautéed local mushrooms, bacon-wrapped shrimp, the beet salad and caesar salad. Our dinner choices were the rack of lamb, the crab cake dinner, roast duck and braised short ribs. All were perfectly prepared and very well seasoned. We shared the dishes among our family and all were impressed with each one. Our server was Ashley, a delightful young lady who had served us on a prior visit. She was very friendly and professional, always checking back to see what we were thinking and if anything was needed. In summary, we wouldn't have changed a thing. We will return soon. read more
