We noted on our reservation that I have a wheat and dairy allergy, but I am always willing to work with the kitchen team around my dietary issues - worse case, I take an antihistamine when I get home. But that did not deter this incredible team! They created a gluten-free/dairy-free tasting menu that was pure perfection, and even comp'd us a fantastic dessert of oat crumble on sorbet with fruit for our anniversary! The sommelier, the table staff, the bartender, the check-in staff - all were gracious and fun while discussing menu/drink/wine options. We've dined at some of the finest restaurants in NYC, the Bahamas, and Europe - and this evening at Twenty-Eight Atlantic is now in the top 5 of our most memorable meals. Superb! We came from Connecticut for a Birthday dinner very excited. When we got to the door, two men gave us the news that the Resturant closed due to a covid case from one of their servers. I understand the circumstances are difficult and terrible, but it was inconsiderate that they did not have the decency to call us and save us the drive out. We went here for our anniversary dinner over the summer while we were vacationing in Chatham for the week. The cuisine, view and ambiance were perfect. It is pricey, but it is very good. I'll admit that I was hesitant to come. Judging by other reviews I thought that you'd pretty much be paying for the view with ok food. I'm so happy that I was wrong. If MA had any Michelin starred restaurants (and we have been to several around the world), Twenty-Eight Atlantic would be a strong contender. I liked that they didn't mind if one person did the 5 course tasting and the other ordered a la carte. Some restaurants say they want the whole table to do the tasting so there is not an awkward pacing, but I feel like as long as they make you aware of that, it should be the diners choice. My husband shared some bites of his tasting with me so that wasn't a problem for us. If we both had to get the tasting, it would have been too much food for me and I would have left feeling uncomfortable. And this way it allowed us to try more dishes. Overall, I think the tasting menu was a very good value. For $85, you get 2 apps, 2 mains and a dessert that were all on the menu. Not sure if it's always the same but we had Ahi Tuna, Squab, Striped Bass, Beef tenderloin and Floating Island dessert. They also gave us an amuse bouche, a pre-dessert as well as a gelee with the bill and caneles to take home (I think other tables who didn't do a tasting menu got the latter two). We really liked the dishes though the weakest was the tenderloin which was a bit mushy. We cook sous vide at home so we are pretty picky when it comes to texture. For a la carte I had the lobster carbonara and scallops. The scallops were not as naturally sweet as I had expected but both dishes were well made and enjoyable. We were celebrating a special occasion and they really do try to take care of you. They placed us close to the window which we had requested even though we made a reservation last minute. They also gave us a little gift bag of chocolates. Both the hostess and our main server Jessica were very personable. Jessica was awesome and knowledgeable about both the food and drinks menu. She was attentive (though I think she was taking care of too many tables). She noticed that I was taking bites off my husbands plates when I didn't have a course so she made sure that I had a share plate and utensils for all subsequent courses. She made a great recommendation for a cocktail. When she delivered our dishes, she made sure to give an introduction of the elements of the dish. Some of the courses were delivered by other servers who did not do this. They looked like the younger ones though so maybe they're not part of the permanent staff and only there for the summer. Lastly the view is wonderful. Would be an amazing place to have a wedding here. I'm not a drinker but would buy a drink just to enjoy the fire pits area on a warm summer's eve the next time we come back to the Cape. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are a foodie. My sons and I were disappointed to see the old, traditional but superb Continental-French cuisine absent on the new menu, replaced by odd "fusion" choices and combinations. The lavender brioche was like a fleeting trip to France. Heirloom tomatoes that were the essence of tomato. Roast lamb and beef tenderloin that were superior to any steak house. But what made it most memorable was Marvin our waiter. His service was impeccable. When helping me choose a wine for each course he provided me two blind tastings so I could get exactly what I wanted. By the end we felt like old friends. Superior experience. I've been here on nights when Twenty-Eight was spectacular and I've been here when it was pretty disappointing. I would give 2.5 stars as most visits seem to fall somewhere in between. They do make a great old fashioned cocktail, and when the service and food click, it's a memorable experience. Unfortunately, considering their reputation, when things go south, it's a memorable experience too. Occasionally, such as last night, the food was not up to Twenty-Eights standard and the service was unbearably uncoordinated. We were shown to one table, soon asked to move, brought to the new table, which the folks next to us had decided to use as the refuse place for their discarded drink glasses and plates. The table was hurriedly cleared and reset, while we stood there, we were seated, and waited. And waited. Once I flagged down a waitress, we were assured someone would be right with us, and we waited some more. Apparently we had fallen through the cracks. Finally, on the verge of leaving, a waitress appeared. We placed orders for appetizers and entrees and settled in. Things seemed to finally be going well when appeared both appetizers and entrees together. On top of unusually poor service, the food, while well made, arrived lukewarm. This isn't to say I won't be back to Twenty-Eight. It is a beautiful restaurant and we've enjoyed many good times here. I only hope the next time will be more hit than miss and I can bump them up a half star or two. read more

Our dinner this evening was incredibly disappointing. I'd read rave reviews, and heard this was the 'best restaurant on the island' from a local in our golf party earlier today. We called prior to our reservation, only to hear they didn't have a reservation for us, when I'd made a reservation through their website. They said they could seat us anyways, we made our way over, and they seated us immediately. Overall, the service was very slow, and we had at least 4-5 different people coming to our table to take orders, clear plates, deliver plates, etc. When we were attempting to order, it was clear we had a brand new server helping us, as she couldn't answer menu questions for us. However, when she attempted numerous times to get our main server's attention, she was brushed aside by this server. We were not able to get basic menu questions answered. When dishes were delivered, they were not presented, or even identified as to which plate was which. When we were presented with our check, we were informed that an 18% service charge was included for our party of 2. As one half of a couple that eats out 3-4 times a week, and has lived in many large metropolitan cities, this shocked me. I generally leave a 20% tip, even for mediocre service, but this was presumptuous to me. This being one of the nicest establishments on Cape Cod, why would they need to automatically assume 18%? On our way out, we shared some of our feedback around service with the General manager. He talked over me, and made excuses around every point of feedback. Had he listened, and said thank you for your feedback, we would have chalked it up to a bad night for the restaurant and returned, as the food was delicious. After engaging with their GM, we will not be returning to their main dining room. Very disappointing, as my husband and I really enjoy nice meals, like this is known for. From the time we arrived the service and atmosphere were excellent. We started with drinks outside overlooking the water and our server (I wish I could remember her name!) couldn't have been more attentive and nice. Along with our drinks, she brought blankets for the ladies and even provided a framed photo of our group to my wife for her birthday! Watered down drinks in what feels and looks like an upscale nursing home's dining room. We were greeted by four different staff members with forced enthusiasm and somewhat maniacal smiles pasted on their faces, as if this was a timeshare sale vs. a fine restaurant. Weird, bordering on "Stepford Wife-ish." I am sorry but I just don't get it nor the reviews of this place (both online and in publications). We met friends who'd had their wedding dinner here years ago so they clearly have fond memories. The restaurant itself is in the middle of a golf resort (didn't know beforehand nor like that) so my husband and I meandered through what looked like a monolithic condo development before we found the actual restaurant. The restaurant sign was obscured by various "Joe and Cindy's Wedding -- this way and "Patty's Party -- that way" hand-written placards. Yes the view is lovely. The cocktails tasted like the mixer so we sent them back, they replaced it with just one. Food was mediocre and dinner plates arrived quite staggered vs. together. The thumping through the wall of the wedding next door was disconcerting. Service was attentive but impersonal. I've had better meals for less at far finer restaurants all over the Cape, and they didn't necessarily cost $400 for a party of 4. (Ocean House, Fin, Chillingsworth, The Naked Oyster, Brewster Fish House, etc. etc.) If you want to feel like you are in Aunt Buffy's Palm Beach retirement home's onsite restaurant with high-backed plush chairs, beige carpeting, a nice view, so-so- food with questionable drinks and high prices, this is the place for you. We made it to Twenty Eight Atlantic last night 7pm. The space is absolutely beautiful with an equally beautiful view of the ocean. We were sat as far back as possible but I was facing the water and still had a great view. The wait staff gave me a birthday card which I thought was very nice. Our waiter was Tomas from Galway, Ireland. Except for a drippy a/c vent above us the meal went flawlessly. We started with a tiny appetizer compliments of the chef of poached salmon with caviar and a horseradish sauce. I am not a big seafood eater but I tried it and it was delicious. Not much fishy taste at all. I had the mushroom risotto with black truffles for the appetizer, it was very creamy with nice flavor and I could have been done after that. It was s big portion. My partner did the 4 course tasting menu and started with 2 oysters on the half shell with some sort of cucumber ice on them, there was also a watermelon carpaccio on the plate. He enjoyed them. Then he had sole poached with a corn risotto. We both had the tenderloin entree with velvet potatoes, summer squashes,smoky eggplant and a smoky tomato. Mine consisted of two pieces and his one. It was a nice size portion for me. I didn't think I could finish it but everything went down so easily. Yumm! They gave me a complimentary birthday tiny dessert of a rich piece of chocolate with a tiny scoop of ice cream. Dessert consisted of vanilla and strawberry mousse with balsamic pearls. I did like the mousse and the ice cream and the pearls were ok but one part of it had balsamic foam and thought it was too strong for my taste. The manager came over and chatted with us for a moment. The food is amazing in every way. The delivery and presentation is outstanding. I have been going here for many years and can honestly say this is how a restaurant should be operated. The grounds of the property are lovely and after dinner you can go out on the pool area and enjoy the fire pit and relax in the summer air! Just lovely. Regardless of whether this was in Chatham or Boston, it's one of the better restaurants we've been to. We always make it a point to go here at least once a year during our 4th of July week vacation. Note, however, that the 4th of July dinner night tends to get booked way in advance due to the fireworks display. As expected, our food and service was excellent. We rarely give an "outstanding" rating for restaurants since we tend to be picky eaters. We are the type that will send food back if it's not up to par. In the case of 28 Atlantic, it hasn't happened. The Parsnip and Almond Cream Chowder was excellent. I was very skeptical at first, but was elated to have tried it. This time around, for entrees we had the pan roasted salmon and atlantic halibut. Both were prepared "correctly". For those that understand what "correctly" means in this case, you will not be disappointed. Deserts were just the right portions and tend to be "nice and light" - not the gut busting portions typical of some restaurants where they try to flatter you with size vs. quality. Sometimes, we fret getting deserts if they're too large. I.e. - we don't want to end up eating it all and feeling bloated. Thus, the portions at 28 Atlantic were just perfect. The only nitpick we have was regarding the hostess at the time. When my wife and I arrived to be seated, the hostess prioritized her time with her coworker rather than tending to us immediately. Our expectation of this type of restaurant is for the host/hostess to drop anything non-customer related and to focus on the customer. He/she either tends to us or another customer. I don't need to see them chit-chatting with another coworker regardless of the topic. Dress code is enforced during the evenings. No jeans, sneakers, or shorts. A collared shirt is needed. I'm glad this is enforced now since it wasn't in prior years where you would see some folks in flip-flops. "Resort casual" clothing is ok during the day. With 2 drinks each and 3 courses a la carte, we spent $100 for each person including tip. 18% gratuity was automatically added. I don't typically like this since I like to be in control of the gratuity. We ended up giving more making the tip roughly 30% - we were that happy. read more

My wife and I went to 28 Atlantic for our anniversary dinner and the staff took great care of us. Lots of special little touches. We couldn't quite get a "window seat" but were one row from the floor-to-ceiling windows and still had a great view of the tranquil water, still boats and evening sky outside. When I made the reservation I mentioned it was our anniversary dinner. Without any other prompting, the staff gave us a welcome gift bag when we arrived, with a handwritten "happy anniversary from the staff" card and a beautiful blown glass starfish gift (now on our mantle at home). They also put a lit candle on our dessert plate. Very classy all around and so nice of them to take the initiative without me asking them to do it! The food was also fantastic! My wife and I split a lobster ravioli appetizer (of course they thought to bring us each a separate plate instead of one plate in the middle of the table). I had the salmon, my wife had the scallops, both were wonderful. The chocolate mousse dessert was great too. All portions seemed small at first but were just the right amount, filling but not overfilling. Everything tasted just fantastic. We went for our anniversary dinner (albeit a few months late) It was a perfect summer night, my wife made reservations at 7:30 in time to enjoy the sunset on the water. Went for dinner on a Friday night with 3 other people and we all enjoyed our meals very much. Three of us had the Lobster and one the Lamb. The Lobster was cooked perfect in a Thai sauce that was a nice combination. My wife had the Lamb which I don't care for but she said it was excellent and she's a big Lamb fan. Service was excellent, quick and very helpful. Only reason it didn't get 5 stars is due to the 4 loud "gentlemen" who can in halfway through our meal with red solo keg cups in hand and sat down near us.
