This meal at Lune was properly top 3 best and most memorable meals I've ever had! Everything was so simple, yet so sophisticated and elevated. The dining room is casual, no white table cloths and it's very open. They also have a somewhat open kitchen. We sat in the corner next to all the wine, a great seat! Our server was so nice and friendly, as was literally everyone who came to our table. It felt like eating at a friend or family's house. It was just so comfortable and there's something to be said about that. The menu is short and sweet, one page. Everything except for the dishes at the bottom were small plates. So we ordered 5 small plates (shaved comte cheese, tuna crudo, fried oyster, Jonah crab salad, cape cod biscuit) and 1 large plate (Halibut). They don't have a full bar but offer wine, beer and canned cocktails. Everything was amazing, most notably the best Tuna Crudo I have ever had. So tender and fresh!! It was in an almost like Italian dressing type sauce with fresh basil. Wow, the flavors were delicious. It was so good, we ordered another one!! Dessert we did ice cream and cheese cake. Fine dining experience with a pleasantly relaxed vibe. They offer a fixed course dinner most nights of the week except Wednesday and Sunday. We ended up there on a Wed (happened to be our anniversary) so I only experienced the à la carte menu. Highly recommend reservations as it's a small restaurant. Parking is limited but you can park in the lot of a nearby furniture store ( across the street and a half a block east). Our server ( Maeve) is very pleasant and helpful. All staff members we encountered greeted us and seem happy to be working there. Not a full bar but many nice choices. We enjoyed Pinot noir from Oregon. We had delicious oysters, a fresh salad, Portuguese clams, and a swordfish dish. Also had a "fancy" Hoodsie dessert that was quite good. All our items were first rate. Other dishes served at neighboring tables also looked great. Noise level in restaurant is very tolerable. Pricing seemed very reasonable given quality. **** It merits stating that this restaurant( Lune) is well staffed for the number of customers they serve. We had terribly slow service the night before at Viera on Main ( Chatham) because they don't have enough staff. A return visit tonight to Lune Restaurant in Dennis Port yielded a lovely experience. The food was great, the service was skilled, and the atmosphere was understated. The meal was almost perfect--nearly all of the courses were introduced expertly and executed with haute precision. The prix fixe menu is offered on weekends, and it looked, as you can see, exciting. My favorite courses were the caviar and dessert. The white asparagus course was inspired and delicious, though it needed another minute or two to achieve a perfect texture. The sous vide veal breast was a miss. The ratio of meat to fat skewed too heavily toward fat. The diners I observed around me at the bar all left fat on their plates. That said, the sauce and spinach accompaniments were delicious. The bread, optional caviar, and dessert courses were brilliant. The wine pairings fell a bit flat, I thought--they were all good, but none compelled me to ask for more or to see the labels for later purchase. I loved watching the culinary theater from the bar seating. It was a bit more hectic than I recall from my last visit, but it was clear that the staff were working hard and collaborating effectively. Not including some of the best freshly harvested scallops or oysters, this is the best meal I have had in 20+ years on Cape Cod. Lune did get a James Beard nomination - which I think is very well deserved. We came for the ala carte menu on Sundays. We had gnocchi and halibut for the large plates. My wife never eats gnocchi, but really loved it at Lune. The halibut came with some sort of corn side. It was well flavored and the corn was quite sweet. We also had a small plate of a "compressed" melon salad. This was very good as well, although possibly the weakest item we had. And their bread is phenomenal. The wine list is interesting, and seems fairly, but not inexpensively, priced. The service was very good, attentive but not intrusive. We sat at the counter and was able to watch dishes we regretted not ordering being prepared. This is a very small dining area, with perhaps 8 counter seats and perhaps 8 additional well spaced tables. This is a great addition to the Cape - I tend to think they will want to find a larger place given how hard it is to book now. read more

It was OK. I would not rave about it. It is a new dining experience for the Cape so I understand the enthusiasm. There is a bit of arrogance which totally ruined the experience for me. I did order the caviar which was served atop a very salty morsel. When asked how I enjoyed it I did say it was very salty. My condescending remark, "Well caviar is salty". I will not bother to list the frequency with which I indulge in caviar and found the remark ignorant. The fish unanimously rated as poor. read more

My friends and I had a beautiful time at Lune! We came for the 6 pm seating and made a reservation in advances. The restaurant is small, but has a homey feel. The main hostess and chef are husband and wife! They created their own menus with fresh ingredients from their garden and the cape. Pacing for 6-7 course meal was fantastic all throughout. We dined on a Sunday and the menu that night was a la carte, so we were able to choose our items rather than the chef's menu served on other nights. We ordered several starters and one entrée. Here's what we ordered for shared plates: Homemade Sourdough Bread, marinated olives, Brewster oysters, cucumber salad, tinned fish (little neck clams), and stuffed squash blossom. For our entrée we shared the Gnocchi. Everything was amazing and prepared perfectly. Of particular note was the oysters, which had a delicious marinade on them. We ordered more of those! The tinned little neck clams, made by Island Creek in Duxbury, were also delicious and a good choice to add to their menu despite it not being made on site. read more

A tasting menu showcasing six courses in a unique intimate setting was truly a wonderful experience from start to finish. The owners are fantastic with a casual elegance, superior food and wine expertise, and they provided attention to every detail of the dining experience. They change the menu often (weekly I think) based on what they have on their local farm. Reading the course descriptions does not do any of the courses justice because you truly have to see it in person and taste the combination of ingredients together. Everything was delicious! Amazing food and lovely little restaurant! We had heard all the hype but Lune met and exceeded our expectations. We went on a Sunday so "à la carte" (no tasting menu that night) but our appetizers and entrees were delicious nonetheless - inventive, carefully presented and just delicious. We were greeted as we were driving into the parking area and told where we could park. Our server was delightful, friendly and very helpful. We chose some dish options that we were told were not often served as part of the tasting menu. The confit halibut with rhubarb compote and duck breast with frites were delicious, as were our appetizers (foie gras tarte, boeuf tartare and asparagus with poached egg). My wife and I recently dined at Lune for the first time after reading many glowing reviews. We were excited for the experience, but one unexpected issue detracted from an otherwise special evening: the seating. The chair I was given was quite uncomfortable. Midway through the meal, my back hurt enough that I switched seats with my wife, who had also found the chair uncomfortable. As an interior designer, she immediately explained why the chair's design lacked proper support. It had a single hard wooden bar across the top and no lower back support. When I moved to the banquette, I ended up sitting much higher than she was (I'm about four inches taller), which made the seating arrangement more than a bit awkward. For a restaurant charging $135 for the tasting menu, the food and service were excellent -- but the seating really didn't match that level of quality. A more comfortable and thoughtfully designed setup would make a big difference. read more

Made a reservation for 6 pm. When we got to the restaurant, they said it was at 6:30 pm. I confirmed with Open Table that it was indeed for 6pm. After the co-owner told us our reservation was incorrect, maybe go to get drinks somewhere else. I received an email from Open Table saying it was "changed" to 6:30 pm, then to 6:45 pm. So we went somewhere else and spent $30 on drinks. We got there and told the co-owner said "it wasn't me who changed it" and "we will make it up to you". We were seated at a counter, rather than a table - I made the reservations 60 days in advance!. No one did anything to "make it up to us" , they never acknowledged their mistake and never did anything to "make it up to us". Food was OK, everything was very salty, and for 2 people, a 20% tip was added. I understand that tips are important but with their mistake, not a great table, and nothing to apologize for, and sorry, mediocre food, for $187 for 2 with a tip, it was very disappointing. read more

Coming from culinary meccas like Austin, Texas and Boston, MA, I was incredibly excited to walk in to Lune the day I did and meet the owners. A young couple from Cape Cod that has traveled and worked together under some world-class establishments, they opened Lune together in summer of 2024 just a few blocks from our summer home. The menu is magnificent; you will not have any idea what you're eating until you arrive (as I think it should be, it's a tasting menu). You are not coming to Lune to just eat, you're coming here to experience. Mick and Charlotte (owners) go out of their way to make any experience there personal, profound, and unlike any other you will find on Cape; they are bringing something to Dennis Port that I don't believe has ever been here before, and I think it is being incredibly well-received. Come ready for a long dinner with friends (or go to make new ones), the space is intimate, the service is impeccable, and the food is superb. Hands down the best dinner I have had on Cape Cod. They only offered 3 entrees and they were already sold out of the one we wanted--so we only had two choices neither of which we really wanted. They did not provide us with any additional pasta option. Open only 4 weeks when we visited, you'd never know it because the food, service, ambiance and experience surpassed anything else I've had on Cape. The 6 course tasting menu was built impeccably and each course is paired to perfection with unique and delicious wine. From the initial warming sip of the mushroom horseradish and black garlic consommé all the way to the dessert of slow roasted strawberries over tea ice cream, every course was exciting. That's the only word I can find...every dish excited us with distinctive flavors (foie gras on an oyster?!?!). This is not for those in a rush. Expect to spend two and a half hours as you experience the magnificent, unique flavors from the kitchen along with wines you would never pick on your own.
