What can I say? We were staying at the hotel and decided to get reservations for dinner. I'm a meat and potatoes guy, for the most part. What a wonderfully unusual meal. I'm sure some of the prep was lost on me, but the service and presentation was not. I ate things either I had never tried or never heard of. Nothing 'strange,' just different. Absolutely wonderful experience. We couldn't get reservations at 28 Atlantic, so we ate at their bar, Thoreau's (we could, however, see the views that 28 Atlantic had, and oh my god, it was amazing). Our waitress, Monica, was wonderful. She was attentive without being overbearing. The food was absolutely amazing. Highly, highly recommended and we will definitely be returning. Also, to first timers, a lot of people were seated at Thoreau's because they were not wearing appropriate clothes for 28 Atlantic. We voiced our disappointment to the host on our way out and he just talked over us and implied we were wrong. I don't think so. I chalk this up to very poor management. First time in Cape Cod, and decided to try this place because of all the excellent reviews. Truth be told this was an up and down meal. First, the place... Hard to find entrance and location at night. Wequassett Resort where the restaurant is located is on a very dark stretch of street and we missed the entrance first time around. The restaurant itself has a beautiful dining room. Although it was pretty late and we missed the dusk, the large glass windows overlooking the bay offer an amazing and fitting view. Pretty much any seat in the main dinning room will offer a great view. The food was hit or miss. My wife has a gluten allergy and they were very accommodating with explaining what she could and could not eat; as well as providing gluten free bread for her and removing portions of her meal that contained gluten. We both had the Parsnip and Almond Cream Chowder with plum glazed pork belly and fired steamers (my wife's was sans steamer). The soup was delicious. Perfectly prepared and poured at our table. Wish it had a little more of the amazing pork belly, but delicious nonetheless. Also had the grilled octopus with black olive oil, chorizo, romesco, and confit potatoes. It was not great. Over cooked, a little on the tough side, and the chorizo seem to add more oiliness than flavor. We've had better at many other restaurants. This dish seemed to try too hard and just missed the mark. For entrees, I had the Prosciutto wrapped monk fish, which was delicious and the highlight of the meal. Perfectly cooked monkfish, with the lobster like texture and crispy prosciutto. I would definitely recommend this dish. My wife had the Miso Glazed Cod. It was not very good. The Cod had a very fishy taste and the Miso Glaze was no existent. Perhaps this was because she made sure to ask that it be gluten free. But no one told us that would mean it would have no glaze. If the fish was prepared as it was meant to, then this chef should visit Nobu and really get a feel for what Miso Glazed Cod should taste (and look) like. Service was excellent and our South African server was very attentive and nice. The chef sent out some complimentary taste prior to our meals and we were very impressed with the staff. All in all, a very nice experience with a beautiful location. This was very close to being a very nice dinner. If the octopus was a little less overdone, and the Cod had a little more glaze (and less fishy), this would have been a very different review. read more

We ate here based on phenomenal personal recommendations and online reviews. The view was fantastic. The appetizer we had was good- but there few a few traces of peach pit, which could of broken our tooth. I had asked to try a taste of wine to make sure I liked- seeing the wine was $26 dollars for the glass. I was told due to covid they couldn't do that. They ended up giving me a taste when I pushed, and it was delicious. Wine was the best part of our entire meal. The Beef entree was tasty. I have Celiac and asked to have the Halibut. The waitress said they would prepare something special. I had potato, asparagus and mushroom for side. The fish was not seared. There was no sauce. It was all very bland. My son ordered duck and two very small pieces of duck breast were on his plate. The potions were extremely small. Ours totaled 274 for two appetizers and 3 entrees. We are used to eating at fine dining restaurants and consider ourselves foodies. We were not impressed and would not return. Best part of dinner was ocean view. read more

By far the nicest dining experience I've ever had on the cape. Dined here a few days ago and I'm still thinking about it... The service, food, and view were all amazing. We started with oysters and lobster carbonara (amazing). I would get both again in a heartbeat! I had the lamb. It was sooooo delicious and my boyfriend had the steak option. While the food was great, my favorite part was the service. The manager, Orhan, was incredibly friendly. Our waitress, Laura, was very knowledgeable about the food, wine and cocktail lists. It should be noted they have a dress code - collared shirts for men, no jeans, etc. Call ahead if you're concerned. I hope to come back again this season! read more

A beautiful room to dine in , the host showed us to a romantic fireside table for two. The service is only surpassed by the outstanding food. The staff goes out of their way to make you feel relaxed, comfortable and knowledgeable about the menu. The food is amazing-presentation spot on-varied and tasteful. This restaurant is phenomenal. My family visited for a family reunion, and the staff was incredibly accommodating. One of our family members is an incredibly picky eater, and ordered plain chicken with nothing on it. This request is quite abnormal, and the staff assured us that this would be okay. And the chicken was incredibly juicy and delicious. Everything that was ordered was incredible. Our whole family was happy with their mess. Our waitress Vivienne was INCREDIBLE. This establishment is so exceptional I had to write a review to notify those who are curious. My wife and I had just married several days before coming here. I called the night before simply to make a reservation and the gentleman on the phone asked if we were celebrating any special occasion so I told him it was our honeymoon. When we arrived the next evening the service was outstanding. This type of place is not usually within our budget but we had been saving for the honeymoon. I wouldn't go so far to say it is unaffordable, however. The chef and his staff are also very accommodating to vegetarians. In fact, our server, an extremely amazing fellow from the Ireland noticed we had not ordered meat and made sure to bring us the meat free amuse-bouche which blew our minds. Throughout the evening our server tended to us and our every need and made us feel more delighted to be there than we have ever felt about any other place. He even brought us a special desert plate with a congratulations inscription. We were also given a personal letter from the staff offering congratulations. Lived on the Cape for some 24 years this was undoubtedly the best meal we've had and we've been to all the fine restaurants on the Cape. The ambience the service and the food was just wonderful. We had the baked monkfish, the best seafood dinners we've had in years, and that's saying a lot since we live here. We read some of the reviews on the supposedly stuffiness of the restaurant, that was not the case, very much Cape casual in fact I was over dressed with a sport coat. Had a birthday dinner here for my husband last week and was very disappointed. The service was average, the $50 tenderloin was small, not juicy and low on flavor. The scallops were average at best. Ordered a field greens salad which was 14.95 and it was a plate of lettuce with one carrot curl. Still hungry so ordered carrot cake for dessert. It was 4 inches long and an inch wide and not even that good....dry and average. For 3 people it was a $250 bill and I have had better dinners at pubs like the 99. The atmosphere and the scenery is second to none but that is only part of the dining experience. Eat at these type of restaurants all the time and don't mind paying the $$$ if I am "wowed" by the experience.....not even close this time. read more

We had a reservation at 28 Atlantic for 8:30 PM. We arrived at 7:30 PM to have a drink beforehand. When we arrived, we were greeted and told we could have a drink by the firepits - sounded good so we headed down to the water. Twenty five minutes later, no one had taken our drink order, so my husband went back up to the Maitre D and he eventually sent someone downstairs. Our drink arrived just about at 8:30. We watched other people who had reservations get taken upstairs for their table. 8:30 came and went, so we decided to head back up to the Maitre D. At that point, after having been sitting there an hour and having seen my husband twice, they decided that he was not allowed in the dining room wearing shorts (he was wearing a button down collared shirt and flat front shorts). We saw other people in the dining room in shorts. The dress code says "we try to stay away from shorts" - I guess that means that if they like the looks of you, they'll let you in the dining room. We were offered a table in the pub and the Twenty Eight Atlantic menu (at the Twenty Eight Atlantic prices) - no thank you. If we were not so starving at that point, we would have left, but we ordered off the pub menu. $150 later we had a slimy piece of salmon and an overcooked burger (ordered medium...). I expressed my disappointment to the manager that he had seen my husband not once, but twice, and we waited almost an hour for a drink and THEN they decide they can't honor our reservation? We were offered a dessert as an accommodation, which was a nice gesture, but it honestly wasn't that good, and for sure does not make up for the fact that we were discriminated against and our evening was ruined. I was really looking forward to dinning there considering all the rave reviews. I have dined at many high end restaurants over the years and have never had an experience quite like this. I will never return, that is for sure. To add insult to injury, I received a reservation cancellation email from them - I guess the $150 I spent on their lousy pub food isn't good enough to get my open table points either. And please don't get me started on the 18% mandatory gratuity added to our bill....... read more
