First time here, we came to celebrate my birthday, and I'm so glad we chose this spot. The staff was friendly and attentive throughout the entire evening. They offer valet service, and there's also a parking garage just a short walk away, which made things easy & the restaurant validates your ticket. We ordered the salt bread, mezze rigatoni, hanger steak, broccoli and greens, and the parmesan fries. Everything was flavorful and delicious each dish was well-prepared and really hit the mark. Overall, a great dining experience
Valet parking is available for $6 or you can park in the structure and have your ticket validated. We had a reservation and were seated right away. The restaurant was clean and had a nice ambience. I could see it being a good spot for girls' night out or a date night. As for the food and service, they were both okay. Nothing particularly memorable. The portions also run on the smaller side, which was a bit disappointing. Overall a pleasant experience for the atmosphere but not somewhere I would go out of my way for.
I was there for an event and never been here before. It is close to the Google building, where there is a parking lot full of space. The restaurant does validate parking. I didn't realize how big the back section was. The restaurant was smaller in the front section. It gave this homey feel in the front and more of an event venue in the back, which I totally understand. It seems like the menu we had was specifically for this event: I did eat the seasonal salad, angus filet mignon, potato puree, roasted vegetables, and berries and cream. I have to say that the best part of my meal was the seasonal salad, everything tasted so fresh and that champagne vinaigrette with sesame was everything. I could have just ate a huge bowl of that and been happy. The filet mignon was alright but the center was a bit too raw for me and I prefer medium rare or medium at steakhouses. The potato puree and roasted seasonal veggies were good, I kinda wished they had more veggie though. The berries and cream were yummy, especially with coffee. It's supposed to be a cake but it tasted and looked more like a cookie to me.
Stellar. Underrated. Will be returning. This restaurant is by the Google building, walking past blkdot coffee and Equinox. They have valet parking and validated structure parking (if you park at Centerpointe). The whole experience screamed "How many Michelin stars do they have," from staff opening the door to the explanation of the dishes to changing of the plates and utensils to leaving our to-go bag at the front with the receptionist till we left. Really enjoyed the decor, atmosphere, and experience. Food: incredible. We were more impressed with the selection of appetizers so we ordered half of them. I would say the best was the Salmon Crudo - spicy and refreshing. The Mezze Rigatoni was also excellent and had great diversity in textures. The Black Sesame bread pudding was fantastic and very unique. They currently have a Pear-gin and tonic-like seasonal alcoholic drink and it was very alcohol-ly while simultaneously tasting like a virgin drink - superb.
I did a corporate event here in one of their private rooms. We had 25 attendees and the room was so massive, it seemed a bit empty in my opinion. When I went in the room, I saw a dead bug on the windowsill. He had one server for the room, taking drink orders as people came in. This caused people to have to wait for their orders to be taken. Even having water just waiting there for people to serve themselves would have been better. Myself and a colleague of mine were sitting on the side. I hope that we were not charged for the full meal because we did not get the appetizer or bread. When I asked for bread, they gave us these sliced pieces that were different than what the other guest were served, which was fine, but it did not come with olive oil or butter, which I found a bit strange to serve sliced bread on a plate and nothing else. The steak was good. The vegetables were completely bland and the potatoes were average, I could make them at home. The chocolate mouse Dessert with some toppings was pretty good, not too rich. For a steakhouse I would've expected the food and service to be a bit better.

We were both surprised when our sever brought out the dessert because usually when we go out to eat our day is forgotten by other restaurants, but our sever made it so special. I actually thought we had to pay at the front since our Togo food is placed at the front, I was confused about that, and walked to the front without knowing at the surprise dessert. Bread and garlic butter, I did wish it had more garlic in it, but overall good bread. I loved the Caesar salad. It was the best salad I've ever had. The sauce was divine. 10/10! Steak 10/10 cooked to perfection Dry Noodle dish not my favorite, it was a bit too salty. But the presentation of it was a nice experience. The tables around us turned around and experienced it with us. 6.5/10. Truffle fries were addicting haha 8.75/10. Mac and cheese was interestingly good 8.5/10. And lychee drink was good! 8.5/10. Thank you so much to the host and our server along with the other sever there! Truly made our night even more special. I apologize for thinking we had to pay at the front and it looked like we were impatient to leave. It was such a beautiful experience I've had at a restaurant in a long time. I appreciate it so much! This was my third visit, and it never disappoints! The first two times were dinner dates with my boyfriend, but this time I came with my girlfriend and we sat at their super cute bar. They have an impressive whiskey selection, and Leo, who's been our bartender for all three visits is absolutely fantastic! The cocktails here are next-level! I had a few of the "Do the Hokey Toki," which is now my go-to. Leo also crafted a pineapple based cocktail for my friend, but she ended up switching to mine because it was THAT good! We got so lost in conversation that we stayed until closing, and Leo was incredibly patient and never rushed us out. I just love the vibe here. The space may be small, but the classy decor, delicious food, creative craft cocktails, extensive whiskey list, and top-notch service make it a gem. Bonus: it's located in the Google Center in Irvine and offers valet parking so easy and convenient. If you haven't been yet, do yourself a favor and check out this charming spot. This is a nice restaurant for special occasions. It's intimate and quiet with a romantic ambience. Service is frequent, someone is always checking to see if you need anything. Servers are also very knowledgeable about their menus and drinks if you have questions. We were really sad that the pork shoulder with the crispy fried bun is no longer a selection here, but we tried the pork chop that replaced it. I was pleasantly surprised. It was bursting with flavor and super juicy / cooked to perfection. We also ordered the NY steak and unfortunately were not so impressed with that one. The Spanish octopus appetizer and fried Brussels sprouts side dish were great additions to the meal, but not something I would specifically come back here for. This place is also a whiskey specialty bar so if you love whisky, they have some interesting variations of whisky mixed with different things to create a unique concoction. Overall, it's a nice place to celebrate something intimately special or even just a congratulations for anything :)
I feel like Twenty Eight is so underrated. First of all, the staff were so helpful and friendly. I called ahead to have drinks ready and ensure I got to check, since dinner was my treat, and they were happy to help. The inside of the restaurant is small, but they have a big outdoor area, and when we went on a Monday night, it was fairly empty and cozy. Spanish Octopus: some of the most tender octopus I've had, and I was surprised by how much I loved the white hummus with vinegar. Broccoli & Greens: the lemon sesame dressing was so refreshing and complimented the mix of veggies well. Garlic Fried Rice: I think this is a must order, especially paired with any protein. The fried rice strikes a great balance between being garlicky, umami, salty, and a little bit of sweet. Definitely not your ordinary fried rice! Australian Wagyu Ribeye: like butter, but still meaty. Some of the best pieces of beef I've ever had and well worth the price. Mezze Rigatoni: it's been some time since we dined here, and I still think about this pasta at least weekly. The chili crunch is such a nice contrast to the silky sauce. The fennel sausage is unexpected but adds nice contrast to the creamy gochujang flavor. I was looking forward to this dish the most and it did not disappoint! We also ordered from their extensive wine menu, and they even surprised us with a birthday dessert! We were so full by the end of our meal and had leftovers, but there's nothing I would have taken out from our order. There's still so much on the current menu I'd love to try, so I'm looking for any excuse to come back!
Omg 10/10 experience. We came for our team Xmas dinner. I was grateful I was able to book a private room for 10 of us last minute. It was such a cute spot, huge bar when you walk in. Plenty of spaces for private parties. But the food amazing. Everything we got was so good, the friend rice, the pasta, tomahawk steak, hanger wagyu sooo good. The drinks are tasty, definitely get the rebel forsure
My party had a reservation for this dining restaurant for a Mother's Day celebration and we didn't know what to expect as it was our first time here. The service starting from the valet parking, the front desk, and our waiter were all very friendly, knowledgeable, and was honestly some of the best service and most attentive I've experienced in a while. The interior decorated with grand ceilings, seating near the windows for sunlight, and had a very nice and dark color tone to match with their menu and service. The food itself was sublime. The salads were unique with a great texture and flavor, the bread was amazingly fluffy and paired with their special choices of butter was a plus. The beef plates were cooked medium rare to a perfection and was of great quality and their pork chop was tender and juicy. I definitely recommend this location for special dinners.
We made a reservation at Twenty Eight for our son's graduation dinner. We absolutely love this amazing restaurant! The food is to amazing! Twenty Eight's decor is very elegant and classy but not stuffy. It is very welcoming and comfortable. We arrived early to enjoy a few cocktails before dinner. Our drinks included the Rebel, Do the Hokey Toki and Somm's Old Fashion. The cocktails were a perfect way to start our evening! We had a party of 9 and ordered a variety of appetizers, entrees and sides. My husband and oldest son ordered the Chateaubriand and thoroughly enjoyed it. My middle son and I ordered the salmon, which was perfect as always. Several of our guests ordered the capellini and prime New York strip. Our appetizers: French fries, truffle fries, salmon crudo, Spanish octopus, Black Tiger Shrimp, and of course the famous griddled scallion pao with sambal chili butter (amazing!). Our sides included: garlic fried rice, broccoli and greens, mac and cheese, Brussel sprouts and potato puree. For dessert we ordered the seasonal sorbets: passionfruit and mango - super refreshing! The restaurant surprised my son with a congratulatory dessert for his graduation - totally unexpected and greatly appreciated! He absolutely loved it and it added such a nice touch to our evening! All the cocktails, appetizers, entrees, sides and desserts are absolutely amazing - we loved everything. But, I will say the one thing that is always above and beyond any other restaurant that I visit is the service. I cannot emphasize enough how much I appreciate the wonderful and warm customer service! Our hostesses, bartenders, server and food runners truly give you the best experience possible. Kevin was one of the first to warmly greet us - and of course he made us feel like old friends visiting again. Stacie visited us during dinner to check on us and make sure that we were enjoying our evening. Another amazing dinner at Twenty Eight and one that we will never forget. Came here for my birthday dinner and overall, it was not a bad experience, but not something I would recommend to others. All the food we got was good, but in comparison to visiting my local southeast Asian restaurants and accounting for the price, it was okay and not outstanding. The biggest Stand outs of this meal was the breads; they were incredibly fluffy and decadence and were a crowd favorite amongst my friends. Everything we got was something not worth getting, or something I've had better elsewhere. The service was good, but my main complaint was that because my party was a group of 6, we were given an awkwardly large table in a room that was empty except for out table and a few decor. As a result, our voices echoed and once again, the it was quite awkward for a high end restaurant. I wouldn't really come back here as a treat meal again, nor would I rave it to my friends. read more

Good service, atmosphere, and food. Had a good celebration meal here and it seemed like we had the whole restaurant to ourselves at 5:30pm. We ordered the Spanish octopus, Mixed mushrooms, American Wagyu ribeye, Wagyu crispy noodle, and Broccoli & greens. The real standout dish was the Wagyu ribeye and wagyu crispy noodles. All the other dishes were good but not memorable. This was a very pricey meal and even though service was good, I don't think I'd come back. read more
Solid bar with great selection of whiskey and good for date night! My fiance and i came here to grab a drink after eating dinner. We had a reservation so we got a table seat. Our server brought us a whiskey book that listed over 100+ whiskeys. We got a flight of 1/2 oz pours (4). fries, and the black sesame matcha bread pudding. The presentation of the flight is on point! they got a wooden board for each of us with labels. Fries were pretty standard but loved the spicy ketchup! Black sesame matcha bread pudding was fire! not too sweet and the matcha and sesame flavor is authentic. A little pricy but overall a fancy experience with great service and drinks. I came here with my boyfriend for our anniversary! To start off, the hostess was very welcoming and checks if you have any dietary restrictions right away. We were seated right away and greeted by our waitress, Alessandra. She gave us some really great suggestions on the menu and we ended up getting all the ones she recommended! We got the Grilled Scallion Pao, Ricotta and Tomato, American Wagyu Zabuton with Salsa Verde sauce, Mixed Mushrooms, and Parpadelle. 5/5 Grilled Scallion Pao paired with the Ricotta and Tomato... Amazing overall! I loved how fluffy, fresh, and flavorful the Pao tasted. It's such a unique bread and really surprised me with the crispy outer texture and soft inner part. The flavor paired so nicely with the ricotta and tomato, which was light, flavorful, and brilliantly presented. I really loved this dish! 5/5 American Wagyu Zabuton with Salsa verde sauce... this steak was delicious! Perfectly cooked and medium rare. I loved how soft the meat was and how pronounced the flavor of the salsa verde was. 4.5/5 Mixed Mushrooms... the mixed mushrooms had a very clean presentation. I really liked the consistency of the dish and how soft and well cooked the mushrooms were. The flavor was great especially with the lemon. 3.5/5 Parpadelle... I liked this dish overall but I think it could have used more flavor. The chili adds a soft kick which helped the noodles but it felt like it was missing something. Overall I still enjoyed it but I don't think I'd get it again. In summary, I enjoyed twenty eight. The customer service is phenomenal and I really appreciated the entire team's attentiveness and welcoming demeanor. Alessandra was an especially awesome waitress and I'm very grateful for her suggestions, kindness, and friendliness. Thanks Twenty Eight for a great anniversary meal! read more
It's an unassuming restaurant tucked between corporate buildings, but the food presentation, flavor, and service was above and beyond. We thoroughly enjoyed the scallion pao, Spanish octopus, lobster linguine, and the tomahawk steak! But what was extra special was the polite and attentive service from the hostess, server, and wait staff. They never hovered or was pushy, but would ensure our waters were always filled, made sure we were nice and cozy in the patio, and changed out our plates and utensils for clean ones. We will definitely be back! Extra plus for the free validated parking. read more

Came here for a Galentines night and service was lovely! We sat outside next to the firepit and it was beautiful for pictures. The dishes were all so yummy - highly recommend the pasta. Salmon crudo could include extra wonton chips, but it was delicious as well! read more

Came here on a Saturday night to celebrate our anniversary and everything was perfect! From the cocktails to the food, everything was crafted and cooked to perfection. We ordered the truffle garlic Parmesan fries, the hanger steak, and the black sesame bread pudding. The fries were super crispy and you could really taste the truffle, the hanger steak was cooked beautifully, & the bread pudding was such a unique and delicious way to end the night. Leo, our bartender and server, was truly amazing! He was attentive, friendly, and incredibly helpful with cocktail recommendations. We loved the Floating in Manila so much that we ordered it twice!! He truly elevated our entire experience & made our anniversary feel so special and memorable here at Twenty Eight! We will definitely be come back~ read more

everything was amazing and all of the flavors were truly unique. the customer service was great and all of our items were timed well - everything was a 10/10 and the bread pudding was to die for. would return for another girls night or date. super small note from my group - the questionable EDM music could have been better. a lovely dinner with remixed techno was not the best vibe but that was just a minor ambiance downfall :) not saying to only play frank sinatra but at least some better house music...maybe even some jazz house to meet halfway? yall should check out berloiz. read more

For apps we had the ricotta & tomato and the spicy salmon crudo which were phenomenal. The addition of orange zest to the ricotta was so unique and delicious. Our mains were the tenderloin steak, lobster mac & cheese, and the mezze rigatoni - all mind blowing. Our server Alli was so sweet and so professional. If you're looking to find THE ONE (or at least a date for your family Xmas party) Twenty Eight might just have what you need. My bestie and I were on a mission--our pact this year is NO SINGLE LADIES for the holidays. But after one bite of "CDR by Chef Jay Lacuesta" and his 8-course tasting menu, I was so caught up in my relationship with food, I might've forgotten our girly pact. The ambiance? Picture a speakeasy... but for foodies. It's cozy, chic, and the kind of place where you'd expect to meet someone who's really into wine pairings, or someone who likes to act bougie and pretend to be really into wine pairings. The food? A whole vibe. Let's talk highlights. The brie with lap xuong and cranberries was basically a love affair on a plate--creamy, savory, sweet, flaky, crunchy... it was like the perfect first date. 10/10 would date again. And the yard-long green beans? I didn't even know beans could be so tasty. These bad boys were crispy, tart, and salted just right. This ain't your grandma's green beans for sure. 10/10... these babes would definitely get a text back the next morning. Then came the sea bass--paired with brussel sprouts, sesame, and pomegranate. I hate using the word "moist" but dear lord... I literally can't think of a better adjective because it just knocked the vocabulary outta my head. The sea bass was moist, flavorful, tender, and flakey (the good kind of flakey. Not like my ex) I don't know who Chef Jay Lacuesta is personally, but I'm considering a lifelong commitment. The dish was like a magical elixir for my taste buds. 100/10. If I could marry it, I would. But here's the kicker--I was so busy savoring each course and making googley eyes with the wine pairings (shoutout to sommelier Kevin Ho for keeping my glass full and my heart happy), I completely forgot about my "Find a Husband" mission. I'm sure there were some dudes there that night, but my senses were delightfully preoccupied by other means. I'm sure they didn't hold a candle to the sea bass. Twenty Eight Restaurant & Bar continues to amaze us with its innovative and evolving menu. Each visit we are consistently delighted by the creativity and quality of the dishes, it is truly a culinary adventure. The PEI Mussels Escabeche is a standout, offering a perfect balance of flavors and texture. Love that the mussels were already taken out of the shell. Perfect to order with their Sea Salt Bread to sop up the sauce. The grilled Jidori Chicken (a new favorite) is so innovative and IMO a masterpiece, combining bold and aromatic ingredients. This reminds me of the Chicken Inasal but super elevated with the flavor infusion that we've come to love and expect from Chef Jay. My husband and I could not stop raving about this dish. The skin was grilled to perfection and so flavorful. It was the moistest and juiciest chicken dish that we've had to date. That smoked oil with tamarind lemongrass was so delish and craveable. Tip: finish this plate first as the chicken is better eaten while warm. And the new pasta item: I think it's called Mezze Rigatoni with gochujang is a revelation and a flavor explosion--an inspired fusion that showcases Chef Jay's ability to surprise and delight one's palate. What makes the experience here even more special is the exceptional service provided by the staff each and every time. For this visit, special mention to Rolando and Zoe, but the rest of the staff deserves credit too. Celebrated my wife's birthday here the other night. It's a good spot and interesting and tasty food. The lady at the door that opened the door for us is nice but a little awkward haha seriously not being mean just honest. The place looked cozy and clean. It took a long time until we got a server so we had to call one to our table to start. The server was very helpful and nice. We started off with a Caesar salad, and bone marrow and steak wattons. The bone marrow was delicious and surprisingly was laying on a custom fit bedding made from smashed grilled potato's. Genius. The salad had a lot of what it seems very thinly shredded Parmesan cheese and the lettuce was purple and green. It looks fantastic. Tasted pretty good too. My wife ordered a pasta that was delicious. I highly recommend. Now here's where the mess up happened. I ordered the New York strip-MEDIUM. I got it pretty much well-done on the sides and directly center of the steak had a 2 slices of medium. Not my cup of tea. Generally not so picky with food. But with my steaks, I am. I get that when sliced and brought out to the table it overcooked, that should not happened. It was sliced when it was still pretty hot which allowed the steam from the inside cook the nearby slices. It should have rested for longer before it was sliced to prevent that from happening. I told the server he took it back and assured he'll provide me a new one. I honestly didn't want to wait and i wasn't a fan of the idea of having steak thrown away because of this so I asked for it back and we still ate it. Also, when a steak that hasn't rested enough gets sliced all the juices are released onto the plate. My plate was like a soup of steak juices. I mean it literally was A LOT of steak juice. Again, the steak needs to rest before it's sliced so it won't overcook the nearby slices and doesn't release a sea of juices onto the plate. I think somebody in the kitchen just messed up and sliced it WAY too early. It had a good well balanced sear. Just sliced WAY too early. They brought out a complimentary cake with a candle, thank you. And without asking them they removed the steak from the bill and a drink as well very nice of them. The steak incident was a rookie mistake not sure how that happened at a steak house restaurant but how they handled the issue it was respectable. Honest review. read more

This was a surprise for me - I had never heard of this restaurant. Upon arrival the seating seemed a bit too open for my taste but I adjusted and it was fine . They have a great whisky list and the wine list is pretty good as well. I do need to take a moment to silence for the Wagyu steak. It was so good! They give you a soy egg sauce for dipping if you'd like and it's pretty tasty. Staff was very informative and attentive throughout the meal. I can't wait to go back. read more

We wanted a great steak experience for my son's birthday and we chose Twenty Eight for it's sophisticated vibe and creative menu. The ambiance was dark, sleek and modern. The service was ultra cool and demure, very professional overall. The steaks were out of this world, the flavors were bold and unique. The meat was absolutely cooked to perfection and just divine. The pasta and vegetables were flavorful but so surprising, overwhelmingly salty. They specialize in whisky as a top shelf whisky bar and their cocktails were eceptional: Thymed Square - scotch, gran mainier, maniera, chile sweet vermouth, chocolate bitters and thyme smoke. Ricotta and Tomato with champagne vinegar, almonds fried basil, saba and paprikaolive oil Bone Marrow Chive Pancakes with roasted onion jam, pickled shallots and saba American Wagyu Hangar 10oz Snake River Farm "Black Grade" Angus Beef Chateaubriand 16 oz Creekstone Farm Double Cut Pork Chop 16oz Salmon Creek Farm Duroc Pork with sesamo, endive, lemongrass and pork jus Mixed Mushrooms in lemon-thyme butter, sweet soy, sesamo nori and lemon Lobster Mac and Cheese, 6oz tail with gemelli pasta, Hook's Cheddar, Monterey cheese and scallion Warm Chocolate Cake Two reservations about service downgrades what would have been our 5-star review down to 4.... There was a slight portion left in the serving container of the Thymed Square whisky and it was taken away without asking. Additionally, although the restaurant was practically empty at 8.30, we were asked if we wanted to box up any portions although my son was still in mid-meal. We stumbled upon this little gem, and now it's officially our secret hideaway. Honestly, I won't bore you with talk of the food -- we come here for the drinks. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, the kind of place where you can plot world domination over a perfectly stirred martini or pretend you're sophisticated while secretly enjoying the neon glow of a craft cocktail. The bartenders know their stuff and will happily talk you through their concoctions -- or just hand you a drink that makes you question your life choices in the best way possible. In short: if you're looking for a place to eat dinner... maybe come here for a cocktail first. The low rating is due to the taste of food NOT the service. Our waiter was wonderful and the hostess greeted as enthusiastically. I set reservations to celebrate my birthday with my girlfriends and we were able to sit outside by the fire pit. It was pretty empty when we came and the location is a bit odd as it's between business complexes. You'll have to park in the structure but the restaurant will validate your ticket! The dishes we got were mostly misses which is quite unfortunate. It went kinda downhill after the appetizers. Appetizers were pretty solid but we were not fans of the entrees we ordered. Scallop crudo (4/5): personally my favorite of the night as it was citrusy and refreshing. One of my friends did not enjoy it as much as I did bc it was too citrusy for her. Salmon crudo (3/5): salmon was fresh and tastes like salmon poke but I didn't think it paired well with the sweet potato chips bc the chips weren't crispy enough. Crab and shrimp linguine (4/5): standard linguine pasta, thought it was good but nothing mind blowing. Wagyu crispy noodle (1/5): tooooo salty that it was not enjoyable even if the meat used was wagyu. Kind of reminded me of Vietnamese crispy birdnest noodles but gentrified... and no veggies just edible flowers that didn't really add anything to the dish. Unfortunately don't think I will be back for the food taste. read more
