Calamari steak (we were surprised it was fried strips and not a steak cut of calamari)
    Kourtney A.

My friends and I always find a meeting place between the IE, LA and Long Beach and this time we found a gem! The vibe was everything, the seating and lighting were perfect! The drinks were great - it helps we are all whiskey drinkers ;) the food was tasty! The marrow was delish, the calamari steak was good, although we thought it was a steak cut of calamari, but the Brussels sprouts had just a little too much balsamic. The steaks and veggies were perfect! To top it off, the service was perfection, attentive but not overbearing, gave good recommendations, and just overall friendly! Will come back and definitely recommend. Would be a great date night!

    ARTISAN BREADBASKET

Great experience we went for dinner to celebrate husbands birthday. Super nice location love all the barrel decor added a unique touch. The place is a little dark inside but in a good way, gave that elegant cozy vibe. Food amazing!! For appetizers the baby rok sliders are good. Although I highly recommend getting the artisan bread basket. Toasty on the outside but soft and warm on the inside. The creamy pesto with shrimp was really good as well. Husband got the coastal Oscar filet duo it was good meat cooked perfectly. If you are looking for something more light and warm the clam chowder was good. Experience over all really good food delicious service amazing can't wait to go back and try the brunch.

After walking around Downtown Whittier on a Sunday afternoon, we decided to stop by Rokka Whiskey Bar & Grill for a drink and dessert, and we're so glad we did! We ordered the apple cheesecake with vanilla pecan ice cream and fresh whipped cream, and it was absolutely amazing. Every bite was delicious and the perfect way to end our afternoon. The vibes were a solid 10/10, and our waiter, Ric, was fantastic. Even though we only ordered dessert, he took the time to walk us through the drink menu and share some of the restaurant's most popular dishes. His friendly service and recommendations made us feel welcome from the moment we sat down. After hearing about the menu and seeing some of the food coming out of the kitchen, we've already decided we'll be back. The Tomahawk Steak is definitely calling our name for our next visit!

The food at Rokka is seriously AMAZING! And their $85 Tomahawk on Tuesdays has my heart! Such a treat and the perfect excuse for a date night or dinner with your girls. Already thinking about my next visit!

My boyfriend and I had such an enjoyable evening at Rokka Grill & Whiskey Bar in Whittier. The atmosphere was beautiful, the service was exceptional, and everything we ordered was absolutely lovely. We started with the bone marrow and Lobster Rok N' Cheese, both of which were delicious. My boyfriend ordered the Coastal Oscar Filet Duo, and I had the blackened pan-seared salmon. Everything was beautifully presented, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Our server, Lucy, was warm, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. Manager Denise also made us feel incredibly welcome and took great care of us. From the food and drinks to the atmosphere and hospitality, we had a wonderful experience. Rokka is perfect for date night, dinner with friends, or celebrating a special occasion. We will definitely be back. Five stars!

I was in town for work and decided to check out Rokka based on the reviews. I was not disappointed! You walk into a beautifully quaint and well decorated restaurant with great ambiance. The sliders were really good and my magnificent Jungle Bird cocktail was served in a bird cage! The bartender was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I definitely recommend going here. What a great place!

Don't get me started on this five-star experience 100% must come to Whittier for this!

Unfortunately our reservations fell through at another restaurant around the block because of a scheduling misunderstanding, but thank goodness ROKKA Whiskey Bar & Grill was nearby because this place absolutely saved Mother's Day dinner. Usually I don't like repeating restaurants. I'm the type of person who always wants to try somewhere new, but this place left such a strong impression on me the first time that I knew it would be a solid backup plan. Happy to report my memory did not fail me because everything was just as amazing as I remembered. We had the pesto chicken, salmon, artisanal bread, a delicious salad, and tiramisu for dessert. Every single thing was superb. The ambience here is beautiful, the lighting was perfect, and it honestly made for such a great Mother's Day dinner. One thing I really loved was that they came around taking photos of guests and offered printed pictures for purchase. Normally I would think that's cheesy, but with the lighting and the mood of the night it actually turned out so cute and gave us a memory to take home. What a save. Definitely putting this one down in the books again as a 5-star experience.

    Happy hour deals

Really enjoyed my experience here. We had a reservation and ended staying at the bar. Two reasons. Once the bartender was super friendly and helpful. Second, it was a great people watching spot and they had the ducks game on. A number of rounds of whiskeys and end appreciated their selection. They have some of their own barrel aged whiskeys. I went in for the the fillet and the Mac and cheese. Also opted for the mashed potato, great choice. All three were soooo good. Even went hard into the chowder in a bread bowl to kick of the meal, worth it! Capped it off with a great butter cake. Highly recommend this place. Great for a few drinks with friends or a great date night.

Pork belly and sweet potato appetizers
    Sovannie E.

Great experience! Place is lovely, love the red interior and waiters are very accommodating. I made reservations for my bf birthday dinner. We had the pork belly as appetizers, it was so good ! Especially with the tamarind sauce. For the main dish I had the steak with shrimp, my bf had the pork and mash potatoes. Both are very good. Price range, I would say medium. Not too pricey. My bf is a whiskey fan so we definitely would like to come back and try more items on the menu !

    Blood orange margarita

This place truly exceeded my expectations. Came here on a random Monday night and the place was pretty busy. Lighting at this establishment was on point. It really helps set the ambience. I got the shrimp pesto pasta and a blood orange margarita. Both items were a 10/10. Let me just add that the pasta portion is ideal for two people and they don't hold back on the shrimp. I enjoyed that the menu was not overwhelming with too many food items. Will definitely return here.

    Great spot to celebrate

10/10 highly recommend this spot. Cocktails, Bourbon Onion soup and entrees were fantastic. Co-worker recommended this spot to us and we went for my hubby's birthday and it was a perfect place to celebrate my man, my PIC, my ultimate bestie. Dessert & coffee finished the night off on a high note. Reservations weren't necessary on a Thursday, but I can see how it could (should) be packed on the weekends.

    Tuesday Tomahawk
    Thomas B.

Was looking for a date night place without the kids. A few stipulations come to mind: Romantic environment or at least a nice scenery. Great cuts of steaks. Various drinks options. Convenience of places after eating. Walking into this restaurant, you instantly notice the beautiful lighting and decorations. This place is definitely beautiful and the mood lighting make it a place for a date night, birthday party, meet up with friends (non rowdy friends), of casual meet up bar top to pre-funk with drinks before going to another establishment. You can dress casual or fancy, either are surprisingly appropriate. We visited on a Tuesday because I wanted to try the Tomahawk steak for $85, normally priced $165. The steak is 32oz on Tuesday, as opposed to the normal 42oz on other days. I ordered a Penicillin (my go to drink) and they made it very well with blended scotch. It's rare a place uses ginger syrup and I loved it! The Mrs ordered a whiskey sour and they properly used egg whites. Kuddos to the bartender for knowing how to properly make drinks! We split the Ceasar salad (because it's huge!) and also ordered the Brussell sprouts. The Boom-Boom sauce with Brussels sprouts was incredible. Added a little zip and spice we needed to very distinct side dish. My wife never had a Tomahawk steak. We usually ordered very lean meats when going out, but it's a great deal and wanted her to try something new. We ordered it Medium and a gentlemen comes out and cuts the steak in front of us and lights it on fire. It's mostly a show just for dinner, but still appreciated. The steak was very good! For those unaware, the Tomahawk is essentially a bone-in Ribeye. So there's going to be flavor with the fat. Don't expect a lean filet mignon or melting fatty Wagyu cut. It has its own class and place. Simply prepared with salt and pepper. We both enjoyed it. Filled us up perfectly! This place is designed for couples looking for a nice evening or birthday events. It was moderately crowded for a Tuesday with everyone dressed well, conversations kept to their tables, and servers attentive. I can see this place being busy on a weekend and possibly loud, crowded, and uncomfortable. Furthermore, I wouldn't pay $165 for the regular priced Tomahawk. But for a couple without kids who wanted a date night, this place was a swing and solid triple! There's a few bars with 2 blocks to choose from, but you're at the mercy of the clientele in the area. Don't expect a speakeasy to be local, but more local dive bars or sports bars. Next time we visit (on a Tuesday), we'll eat and enjoy drinks at the bar and chat with bartender and maybe watch the local sports team in the background.

Filet mignon sandwich with sweet potato fries. Drink was a blood orange margarita.
    Raquel V.

The ambience of Rokka is unmatched. The interior is so fun and has great vibes for dinner. The blood orange margarita is delicious. The food is also top notch and has generous portion sizes. Our waiter was super great and attentive. My only cons is that they charge for a bread basket, offering it to the table without disclosing it's $12 for a few pieces. Additionally, the bathroom does not meet the interior of the restaurant, there was dried throw up on the toilet seat and paper thrown around. We also had pictures taken by a photographer going table to table which was odd. She then came brining framed pictures to be purchased but we declined. We just wondered where those pictures went after. However, I think pictures are fun if it was an event but going table to table interrupts conversation and feels pushy. Happy to have Rokka in uptown and I will be back.

The cocktail program here is absolutely phenomenal. I am pretty picky when it comes to whiskey, and since Manhattans are my absolute favorite, my expectations were high. They mixed an incredible Manhattan that was perfectly balanced with the right sweet vermouth, and their Old Fashioneds are crafted with an attention to detail that really lets the spirits shine through. We also ordered a few Paper Planes, and they were dangerously good, hitting that perfect sweet and sour note that makes you want to immediately order another round. In a place that prides itself in its whisky, the bartenders are sorely lacking in their knowledge around their own bar. With an extensive selection, I don't expect them to know everything, but bartenders not knowing what is meant by a neat pour (straight out of the bottle into the glassware, no ice, and not mixed) was unexpected. I'm getting the impression that while they still mix old fashioneds, a scotch such as Ardbeg is now an unusual and baffling request. There will be a check in host and stand there and wait (it will be located up against the wall with a big secret door right next to the hostess station) It's very New York inside. When I first came in Spring with the amazing, Karen, the menu and everything was great Now, I took my friend who was in town from Nashville and it was a brand new theme. It's the great Gatsby. Even our waitress, Jasmine was dressed for the occasion. I would say this place is known for Absinthe. They have cocktails featuring it or you can get one of the huge apparatus (huge and glowing green) which, if you are into it? I highly recommend. Just one of the huge apparatus makes one regular drink. Or, what Karen and I did, was split it and make it into a shot for the both of us. The waitress comes out and shows you how it works and goes over everything. Karen, who I came with, was a pro and knew her way around it. She showed me the ropes lol. Honestly, if you are here? When in Rome. Go all out and try it, since it's where they shine here. They took off a few menu items and added some themed drinks. ( a couple new champagne themed drinks) They have big entree items but I suggest small bites and sharing and mostly coming for the drinks. There's no bathroom inside, so you do have to leave the bar and go to the closest one (over behind Randy's donuts) and then enter the speakeasy again Both times coming here I've never had an issue. It's a small, packed place. And yet they still have the cocktails flowing and the food coming out in a good time. So the food and drinks are good Atmosphere is lovely. Service is good. Especially for it usually being very busy in here This place is located inside the Anaheim packing district. So I suggest hitting up a couple other spots before or afterwards for some more food or drinks P.S. it is very dark In here. They never cared if we used our light to look at the menu. However, they do not want flash photography They also do not strictly enforce a dress code (my friend from Nashville asked) however, they suggest dressing business casual and not too underdressed

Date night for mom and dad away from the kids type of night. Very mellow and chill. Small but cozy…read more I loved the Gatsby decor. We chose to be seated at the bar. Service was decent. I really liked the clarified strawberry drink, similar to strawberry and cream. I ordered a drink after that unfortunately forgot the name (photo attached with a tall glass) but there was no special cocktail craft taste to it. Just hard liquor taste and undrinkable :( the bartender kindly offered another drink. Unfortunately none of the food was the least bit good. Steak and fries was ordered medium rare and cooked to medium well with what seemed like no seasoning was on there at all. Crab cake was just ok and the slaw beneath it was drenched in a vinaigrette that was just sour and unpleasant. And the Mac and cheese, as we were very hopeful and looking forward to, was probably the blandest Mac and cheese we ever had. We asked the lady bartender for salt and she handed us, no exaggeration (and you guys will probably think I am) a salt shaker with 10 grains of salt in it and said "looks like there's a lil something you could still get out of there" My jaw dropped. But yeah. The shredded meat on top of the Mac and cheese was cooked beyond the point of edible. That one was unfortunately sent back bc we just couldn't eat it. We were bummed over all mostly about the food.

The…read moreselection of spirits alone is impressive, but the omakase experience is what really stood out. We gave the bartender a little direction- I wanted something citrus (whiskey), while my partner went aromatic (cognac) and let him take it from there. He absolutely delivered. We completely missed taking pictures of the first round, but definitely didn't make that mistake twice. We came intending to stick to drinks, but the dinner menu definitely caught my attention. I already know I'll be coming back to try it. Such a hidden gem and easily worth the visit, especially if you appreciate a bartender who knows how to build a drink around your preferences rather than just follow a standard cocktail menu.

The vibe here fit the steakhouse very well. The service and selection here are great. I think there is some membership program here as well, but don't know the details. I was meeting some friends for dinner at the steakhouse, but came a little early so I grabbed a drink here. It was on a weekday so the place wasn't very busy. Fun looking cocktails, but there is such a great selection of spirits, so ended up just getting a sipping rum. Was only early enough to have one drink by myself, but definitely would come back to try different drinks here. Especially if I was gonna eat at the restaurant again.
