    ARTISAN BREADBASKET
    Cynthia A.

Great experience we went for dinner to celebrate husbands birthday. Super nice location love all the barrel decor added a unique touch. The place is a little dark inside but in a good way, gave that elegant cozy vibe. Food amazing!! For appetizers the baby rok sliders are good. Although I highly recommend getting the artisan bread basket. Toasty on the outside but soft and warm on the inside. The creamy pesto with shrimp was really good as well. Husband got the coastal Oscar filet duo it was good meat cooked perfectly. If you are looking for something more light and warm the clam chowder was good. Experience over all really good food delicious service amazing can't wait to go back and try the brunch.

After walking around Downtown Whittier on a Sunday afternoon, we decided to stop by Rokka Whiskey Bar & Grill for a drink and dessert, and we're so glad we did! We ordered the apple cheesecake with vanilla pecan ice cream and fresh whipped cream, and it was absolutely amazing. Every bite was delicious and the perfect way to end our afternoon. The vibes were a solid 10/10, and our waiter, Ric, was fantastic. Even though we only ordered dessert, he took the time to walk us through the drink menu and share some of the restaurant's most popular dishes. His friendly service and recommendations made us feel welcome from the moment we sat down. After hearing about the menu and seeing some of the food coming out of the kitchen, we've already decided we'll be back. The Tomahawk Steak is definitely calling our name for our next visit!

I was in town for work and decided to check out Rokka based on the reviews. I was not disappointed! You walk into a beautifully quaint and well decorated restaurant with great ambiance. The sliders were really good and my magnificent Jungle Bird cocktail was served in a bird cage! The bartender was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I definitely recommend going here. What a great place!

Don't get me started on this five-star experience 100% must come to Whittier for this!

Unfortunately our reservations fell through at another restaurant around the block because of a scheduling misunderstanding, but thank goodness ROKKA Whiskey Bar & Grill was nearby because this place absolutely saved Mother's Day dinner. Usually I don't like repeating restaurants. I'm the type of person who always wants to try somewhere new, but this place left such a strong impression on me the first time that I knew it would be a solid backup plan. Happy to report my memory did not fail me because everything was just as amazing as I remembered. We had the pesto chicken, salmon, artisanal bread, a delicious salad, and tiramisu for dessert. Every single thing was superb. The ambience here is beautiful, the lighting was perfect, and it honestly made for such a great Mother's Day dinner. One thing I really loved was that they came around taking photos of guests and offered printed pictures for purchase. Normally I would think that's cheesy, but with the lighting and the mood of the night it actually turned out so cute and gave us a memory to take home. What a save. Definitely putting this one down in the books again as a 5-star experience.

The ambience of Rokka is unmatched. The interior is so fun and has great vibes for dinner. The blood orange margarita is delicious. The food is also top notch and has generous portion sizes. Our waiter was super great and attentive. My only cons is that they charge for a bread basket, offering it to the table without disclosing it's $12 for a few pieces. Additionally, the bathroom does not meet the interior of the restaurant, there was dried throw up on the toilet seat and paper thrown around. We also had pictures taken by a photographer going table to table which was odd. She then came brining framed pictures to be purchased but we declined. We just wondered where those pictures went after. However, I think pictures are fun if it was an event but going table to table interrupts conversation and feels pushy. Happy to have Rokka in uptown and I will be back.

First time there for both me and my friend. Walking up to the place it's very nice and walking inside even more so. Beautiful decor and ambience. Incredible drink options. We tried a few and really enjoyed them. The food was fantastic. Already know what we will get when we return. The service was impeccable! Ric was an amazing guide through the menu options. He answered all of our questions with a lot of knowledge. He had great suggestions and we truly believe he made our experience better.

Great experience! Place is lovely, love the red interior and waiters are very accommodating. I made reservations for my bf birthday dinner. We had the pork belly as appetizers, it was so good ! Especially with the tamarind sauce. For the main dish I had the steak with shrimp, my bf had the pork and mash potatoes. Both are very good. Price range, I would say medium. Not too pricey. My bf is a whiskey fan so we definitely would like to come back and try more items on the menu !

Really enjoyed my experience here. We had a reservation and ended staying at the bar. Two reasons. Once the bartender was super friendly and helpful. Second, it was a great people watching spot and they had the ducks game on. A number of rounds of whiskeys and end appreciated their selection. They have some of their own barrel aged whiskeys. I went in for the the fillet and the Mac and cheese. Also opted for the mashed potato, great choice. All three were soooo good. Even went hard into the chowder in a bread bowl to kick of the meal, worth it! Capped it off with a great butter cake. Highly recommend this place. Great for a few drinks with friends or a great date night.

We got seated quickly, the DJ was playing great music, and the vibe was fun without being overwhelming. The pizza was delicious and perfect for sharing between two.

This place truly exceeded my expectations. Came here on a random Monday night and the place was pretty busy. Lighting at this establishment was on point. It really helps set the ambience. I got the shrimp pesto pasta and a blood orange margarita. Both items were a 10/10. Let me just add that the pasta portion is ideal for two people and they don't hold back on the shrimp. I enjoyed that the menu was not overwhelming with too many food items. Will definitely return here.

    Great spot to celebrate

10/10 highly recommend this spot. Cocktails, Bourbon Onion soup and entrees were fantastic. Co-worker recommended this spot to us and we went for my hubby's birthday and it was a perfect place to celebrate my man, my PIC, my ultimate bestie. Dessert & coffee finished the night off on a high note. Reservations weren't necessary on a Thursday, but I can see how it could (should) be packed on the weekends.

    Tuesday Tomahawk
    Thomas B.

Was looking for a date night place without the kids. A few stipulations come to mind: Romantic environment or at least a nice scenery. Great cuts of steaks. Various drinks options. Convenience of places after eating. Walking into this restaurant, you instantly notice the beautiful lighting and decorations. This place is definitely beautiful and the mood lighting make it a place for a date night, birthday party, meet up with friends (non rowdy friends), of casual meet up bar top to pre-funk with drinks before going to another establishment. You can dress casual or fancy, either are surprisingly appropriate. We visited on a Tuesday because I wanted to try the Tomahawk steak for $85, normally priced $165. The steak is 32oz on Tuesday, as opposed to the normal 42oz on other days. I ordered a Penicillin (my go to drink) and they made it very well with blended scotch. It's rare a place uses ginger syrup and I loved it! The Mrs ordered a whiskey sour and they properly used egg whites. Kuddos to the bartender for knowing how to properly make drinks! We split the Ceasar salad (because it's huge!) and also ordered the Brussell sprouts. The Boom-Boom sauce with Brussels sprouts was incredible. Added a little zip and spice we needed to very distinct side dish. My wife never had a Tomahawk steak. We usually ordered very lean meats when going out, but it's a great deal and wanted her to try something new. We ordered it Medium and a gentlemen comes out and cuts the steak in front of us and lights it on fire. It's mostly a show just for dinner, but still appreciated. The steak was very good! For those unaware, the Tomahawk is essentially a bone-in Ribeye. So there's going to be flavor with the fat. Don't expect a lean filet mignon or melting fatty Wagyu cut. It has its own class and place. Simply prepared with salt and pepper. We both enjoyed it. Filled us up perfectly! This place is designed for couples looking for a nice evening or birthday events. It was moderately crowded for a Tuesday with everyone dressed well, conversations kept to their tables, and servers attentive. I can see this place being busy on a weekend and possibly loud, crowded, and uncomfortable. Furthermore, I wouldn't pay $165 for the regular priced Tomahawk. But for a couple without kids who wanted a date night, this place was a swing and solid triple! There's a few bars with 2 blocks to choose from, but you're at the mercy of the clientele in the area. Don't expect a speakeasy to be local, but more local dive bars or sports bars. Next time we visit (on a Tuesday), we'll eat and enjoy drinks at the bar and chat with bartender and maybe watch the local sports team in the background.

Service was just ok. We ordered drinks first, the appetizers, the main course. 10 mins after the appetizers came - coconut shrimp, just ok. Then the waiter stopped by 3x and I asked for the drinks, by this time we were 25 mins in. Then the main dishes came out and still no drinks. I had to ask a fourth time. Oh, there was a group of four that came in about 20 mins after us and they got served their drinks before us. Eventually the drinks came out. Granted it was an old fashion and a fruity drink for the wife so it was not we were a party of 40 individuals. Not coming back to this place.

This place instantly became one of my favorites after just one visit. From the moment you walk in, the whole vibe hits you--the moody, neon-lit ambiance sets the tone perfectly. It feels elevated, a little edgy, and honestly just the kind of spot you want to spend your night at. The music is curated so well. Not too loud, not too mellow--just the right balance where you can vibe, have a conversation, and still feel the energy of the room. You can tell they actually care about the experience, not just throwing a playlist together. Now let's talk about the drinks... because that's really where they shine. Every cocktail feels intentional and crafted with care. You can taste the quality immediately--nothing watered down, nothing basic. They have a really cool mix of classic cocktails and modern twists, and even the familiar drinks feel elevated. It's the kind of place where you want to try something new every round because you trust the bartenders know exactly what they're doing. Service was on point too. Friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. They took the time to explain drinks and made great recommendations, which made the whole experience even better. As we waited, I started noticing something interesting: two parties who came in after us were seated immediately. Then almost 30 minutes went by. At that point, I poked my head back in and said, "Hey, we put our name down about 30 minutes ago, and I've noticed people coming in and getting seats." Immediately, the hostess who originally helped us said, "Yes, yes... sorry about that. You can choose a table right now." So apparently our table had been available in the Witness Protection Program. To make matters worse, we were seated next to one of the parties that arrived after us, and we got to enjoy the thrilling experience of watching them receive their food before we even ordered. The food itself was good overall. The only miss for me was the mac and cheese, which tasted like KFC mac and cheese that had a passionate encounter with a jar of jalapeño juice. Would I come back? Maybe. The food was decent, but for a first visit, the service definitely left a stronger impression than the meal did.

The food is Lebanese and like any Mediterranean food, delicious! We had the chicken kabob entree and everything was really good! The only thing I was not a super fan of was their pita bread and how it came. It comes in a plastic bag inside a little bucket and it's a thin pita and I usually prefer the thicker pita, but that's just my personal preference. The drinks were really good too! We had a great time chit chatting and right before we left we got to enjoy a couple of songs from live performance. It was a perfect date night and their service was exceptional!

It is located in downtown Fullerton, next to the Les Amis Lebanese/Mediterranean restaurant. Look for the entrance on the west side of the building with a red entrance and Chapter 4 projection logo on the sidewalk. You can make a reservation on their website. We walked in and were greeted immediately. Seating options include tall chairs at the bar, low booths along the front wall across from the bar, and various tables in the main lounge area. All of the chairs look very comfortable. We sat in one of the booths across from the bar. It has a great vibe inside with a dark ceiling and walls, and is lit on the dimmer side. There was light lounge/soft jazz music playing when we visited. They also have live jazz music on some nights. A bowl of nuts, water, and menus arrived quickly. They have a great menu of house-curated cocktails, their spins on classic cocktails, and a large list of whiskeys and other spirits. They also have several food items on the menu. They have private liquor lockers available to store personal bottles for members Before I continue, I have to say that JC, one of the owners, who greeted us and was our server all evening, provided outstanding hospitality. While researching their bar menu online, we saw the cloud cocktail which had a very unique presentation with a burning ember cloud-like display. We came for my girlfriend's birthday, and she knew that would be her first drink. Unfortunately when we tried to order it, they were out of the gas for it. We noticed that the physical menu was a little different than the online menu. Apparently they had just changed the menu and had not updated the website yet. She wanted the Dirty Dill which wasn't on the new cocktail menu, but they were still able to make it. Dirty Dill (Gin, Vodka, Lemon, Pickle Juice, Olive Juice, Milk Washed & Clarified, $19). We could smell pickle on the nose, but when we took a sip, it was very boozy with little pickle or olive flavor. We asked if they could add some more pickle juice, and JC brought us a big shot glass of pickle juice so she could adjust it to her liking. She liked it once she added some more pickle juice. I started out with the Cococacaocoladaclara cocktail (Cacao-Infused Rum, Orange Liquor, Pineapple & Lime Juice, Coconut Milk Clarified, $18). This wasn't quite what I was expecting, and I had a hard time picking out the flavors. It was definitely strong and boozy. We were finishing our first round when we spotted JC walking towards our table with a cloud! He managed to find whatever it takes to make the effect, and we were very appreciative. I have seen a lot of presentations, and this was definitely a unique one. The birthday shot was very good, and he said the ingredients were mezcal, lavender, and lemon. Old Fashioneds have been growing on me lately. After the great presentation of the cloud, I had to try the Sinatra Old Fashioned (Jack Daniel's Sinatra Select, one dash of chocolate Bitters, $40). It is served in a rotating crystal glass, lit from underneath, with a clear ice sphere. Again, the presentation was great, and it was the smoothest old fashioned I've ever had. She had her eye on the Tuk Tuk for her second drink (Coconut Fat Washed Rum, Supasawa, Pandan Syrup, Mango Syrup, Rice Garnish, $18). She asked if it was very sweet, and he said that it was indeed quite sweet. Instead, she opted for the Firefox (Vodka, Pomegranate, Lemon, Vanila, Rose Liquor, Cherry Bitters, $18). Once again, this cocktail had a great presentation. It's served in a short, wide glass that sits perfectly on top of a piece of petrified-looking wood. You hold the glass with both hands and sip it like a bowl of soup. It was very balanced and smooth, with a nice tartness and light sweetness. JC stopped by again to check on our second round. A few minutes later he surprised us again, and returned with shot sized versions of the Tuk Tuk to sample. It was definitely on the sweeter side with good coconut and pandan flavor. We probably would have tried a third round, but we had dinner and a drink before coming here. Their menu of house-curated cocktails is impressive, and features many uncommon ingredients. We had a good time, but JC went the extra mile for us all night long and made it a great time. We will definitely return again.

The ambiance of the wooden tables and the total feel was cozy and welcoming. Once seated at the bar, we were greeted immediately by a very awesome Mixologist/Bartender! Amazing banter A+++++ Service The drinks : My Whiskey Sour was delicious, it had the perfect balance of sweet to sour notes. We also had the old fashion yes. May I have another, soo good. And, this place has a couple games to play and on some nights entertainment, which is pretty cool but on this night I only partake playing some pool. Overall, the drinks were crafted wonderfully, and I would recommend this lovely joint!

We stopped by on a Wednesday evening which is also karaoke night so the energy was high and the place was PACKED. It was fun, but super hard to get a drink because there were only three bartenders working. By the time you made it through the wall of people to the bar, it was so loud that it was almost impossible to communicate your order. People were living for karaoke and it definitely seems to be on a regular rotation for some of the patrons. The Blind Donkey is definitely a place that you need to check out if you are in town and want a fun evening.

We also got a creme brulee for a birthday and it was delicious and perfectly caramelized. Overall such a great and memorable experience, and definitely one of my favorite speakeasies I've been to!

Had reservations for a party of four (made via online) and was seated right away. Ambiance is dark and intimate but seating was enough to feel like you had room. Drinks were delicious and strong and service was great and quick. You are limited to eating and drinking within a certain time frame but it's not bad as the servers are on it. Drinks 10/10 and food 10/10. I'm still craving their burger, one of the best ones I have had, I can't even compare it to anywhere else. Bathrooms are located outside of the speakeasy.
