Combo plate with inihaw na baboy, chicken adobo and pancit bihon

Must-eat restaurant in downtown Juneau with another location near the airport. Golddigger's hot bar features a huge selection of Filipino dishes with generous portions. You could calculate how many combo plates are possible with factorials, but the answer is always to try something new at Golddigger!

We had dinner here 3 nights ago. Excellent food, so tasty and generously portioned. The workers were patient and helpful. We had never had Filipino food but saw a family who had a table full of yummy looking food. I asked the mom for some suggestions and she was kind and helpful. The shrimp in garlic was plump and flavorful, the rice noodle stir fry was so good we couldn't stop eating it, long after we were too full. But the garlic fried rice side dish was the surprise winner, how can something so complete taste so good? The flan was also excellent. We are going back for another meal tonight. Thank you. They moved locations 2 months ago but yelp still has the old valley address, they are now in downtown Juneau, across the street from the Silverbow Hotel.

Pansit, pork adobo, pork dinuguan, lechon

I enjoyed it. I was craving adobo and someone on the ship told me about it. As you can see by the picture, there was more than enough food for one person. I wish I would've had someone to share with that day. Anyway, the owner and staff were delightful. The food was delicious and I don't know when I'll be back, but if I'm in town, I will definitely return.

This is a MUST stop wether you like Philippine food or not. Don't be fooled by the limited seating. Once the amazing staff starts walking around and talking to everyone it quickly becomes a cozy family place. This is family style so bring the family or bring plenty of leftover bowls. Each dish is enough to feed the family. Not sure why only one of my Pictures saved but started off with spam musubi. The rice was warm, spam fried to just the right crisp. Then I ordered pansit and pork fried ribs. The ribs were very crispy and tender, fried just right. The pansit was amazing. More noodle than vegetable. A great place to unwind, conversation and have a wonderful meal.

This place was highly recommended by the Filipino crew of Norwegian Joy and we had to try it. The hours on yelp is not correct and was informed by the owner that they were not able to update it. It was a 10 minute short walk from the port. The combo plate started at 15 for a single item. Add an additional 5 for a second item. Every item was freshly made and large portions. The pictures do not do justice but I can say that the first taste will bring you back home.

Try the whole fried pampano, it's delicious! Everything is done well here and the portions are large.

This place really suprised me. The food was so good and full of flavor. Be aware their portions are family size. 1 dish is enough food for 3 people. The chef is super sweet and even came out and told us about the dish. Definitely worth the food even if it's in a strip mall.

Very good food. We ordered 2 food trays for a soup kitchen and they happily made it for us ready to be picked up before they even open on a Saturday. We came back the following day for brunch and ordered longsilog and tapsilog, very delicious and we took some to-go bec the serving was big for one person. They have great selection of Filipino desserts too and they are all home cooked. I hope this business all the success.

As we rounded the corner southbound on Marine Way, we saw a cloud of smoke wafting in the wind, and a huge line of people. Would we join it? Of course; the smell was too good to pass up. The line ended up taking about 20 minutes, and soon afterwards we sat down at a nearby picnic table to eat. Combo 1 ($19) - This combo dish comes with two skewers and rice. We went with one of each skewer: Chicken Skewer - Fantastic char on the exterior with blackened almost charcoal-like crunchy bits, but no burnt acridity at all. The skewer is covered with a supremely tasty sweet and savory glaze. The caramelized glaze penetrates every bite of the meat. The chicken is a little dry, but the flavor is phenomenal. (5/5) Pork Skewer - Similar to the chicken, great char, great flavor, but unfortunately the meat on this skewer is a little too far gone in terms of moisture. It's almost like eating a pork jerky given how desiccated the meat is. (4/5) The rice is not good. It's very undercooked with a disturbingly firm texture, making it difficult to eat. The only way we could stomach eating it was liberally pouring condiments on top. Luckily, the truck has a plethora of condiments to choose from. There's white vinegar, spicy apple cider-ish vinegar, and plenty more. Even with all the flavor enhancements, we ended up not finishing the rice. (1/5) We also ended up ordering dessert here: Karioka ($5) - Pretty nice sweet skewer... or at least it would be if it had been fresh. I could tell that the inside used to be bouncy since it seems to be made from glutinous rice flour. It's fried, so there's a doughy chew as well, but it's too far on the firm side, indicating lack of freshness. It does have a good coconut flavor and the outside is nicely sweetened. I think the exterior used to have a crisp sugar shell ala tanghulu, but again it's softened by the passing of time and moisture degrading the dessert. Still, it's tasty enough and nice to eat. (3/5) If I'm ever in Juneau again, I'd visit Carrillo's again, but for the chicken skewers only! I would definitely not get anything containing rice again. Maybe Filipinos like their rice undercooked and hard, but not me!

Very tender, flavorful pork. Whole dish was gently sour, allowing the ginger flavor to still come through nicely. Longanisa and bbq pork skewers are the easy choice for Filipino food newbies. These were well executed here. The strong sweet/savory flavors are complemented/cut by the plainness of white rice for a tasty, filling experience. Together - this is Filipino comfort food at its meaty/carby best.

Lechon Kawali: there really is no way to go wrong with fried pork belly! Freshly fried and crispy! Beef kare kare: served with eggplant and green beans, everything smothered in a thick peanut sauce. If you like your kare kare a bit on the funky, ask for the house made housemade bagoong. It's pungent! Bicol Express: a bit on the saucy side than what I am used to but had great flavor and not too spicy. Longanisa: not sure if they were made in-house but they are yummy and fatty! The place always seems quite empty but most of their business it seems is from togo orders. Is this an indication of faster service? Or is it because the food is worse? We ended up picking a pork skewer to compare. Pork Skewer ($8) - The first piece I ate seemed to be superior to the Carillo's version - still with the sticky sweet savory sauce, but a fattier and juicier piece of meat in the center. Subsequent pieces destroyed my initial impression. This business seems to be using very low quality cuts of meat, filled with fat and gristle, making the meat very difficult to chew and eat. In addition, some pieces of the meat taste old, as if they are close to rotting, kind of a nasty flavor that made me not want to finish the skewer. I guess the only real advantage as that the skewers they serve are larger than that of Carillo's? (2/5) Well, I certainly learned why the blue tent had a longer line... Maybe the chicken skewers and other food served at Bernadette's are better? I'm not sure, but I certainly won't be revisiting.

The menu offers most of your popular items. I spied sisig so I definitely had to get an order of that. I also got an order of lumpia and turon. The sisig was a smallish portion wrapped in foil but it was really delicious. This version tasted different than others I've had at restaurants and there was a definite spicy kick to it. The lumpia and turon were also quite good with a crispy outer shell and plentiful filling. Service was friendly and it took a few minutes for the lumpia and sisig to be ready for us and the turon was premade so we only needed to grab one from the stack on the cart. Since Bernadette's is a food cart, you could say the ambiance is the surrounding port area which is a scenic place to sit off to the side and eat your tasty meal.

My favorite dish is Bikol Express, Pork with coconut milk and some zest. Taro leaves, sweet and sour wings and adobo are also wonderful. I usually avoid adobo, pancit and spring rolls because our town is overrun with those Filipino staples, but adobo is good none the less. I also enjoy the TVs with the goofy(by American standards) shows, the mixed in English you can barely tell what's going on.
