    a variety of doughnuts
    Nelly M.

First off, new location right outside Eglin AFB, next to Domino's. I was intrigued by the reviews of this place describing the donuts as "light" and basically the best ever. I got these donuts a bit before 8:30am, and I'm certain that they would have tasted better if I had come earlier so take the following with a grain of salt: The sprinkles donut with a kind of red glaze (which I think is just a normal white glaze with food coloring because it didn't have any particular flavor) was unpleasant because the glaze broke off into pieces when I bit into it. Crusty isn't something I look for in a donut, LOL. The apple fritter is large with a tiny apple filling in comparison, but that didn't bother me because the fritter was thick and doughy and plenty sweet, tasting just like Cinnamon Toast Crunch. The chocolate eclair was nothing to write home about, with chocolate glaze that tasted cheap and a bland filling whose only redeeming quality was that it was a welcome break from the sweetness. There is definitely a STAR in this place, and that's the humble and unassuming original glazed donut. The simple powdered sugar glaze is slathered on light and looks sloppy and uneven - which I love because it's just proves it's not your regular chain-store yummy. The dough itself is mildly sweet, and the lingering taste is that of dough fried in fresh oil, reminiscent of something you'd get at a fair/carnival or like those small, sugared donuts you find at some Chinese buffets. I would go back and get the get the glazed again. That's the reason for the four stars! Whatever you choose to sample at this place, make sure you get one or two of the original glazed ones!

    Box of delicious.

The yeast donuts are the star, but the cake donuts are great, too!

One strawberry sprinkle that is just a pink frosted donut not actually strawberry as they told us and one red velvet with white frosting. Both of those were super dry cake donuts and the red velvet tasted nothing like red velvet tasted like a basic dry cake donut. Sad I really wanted to like them but I was just disappointed.

My family and I went here for ice cream after having lunch at the City Food Hall. They had a good variety of flavors for both ice cream and gelato. My wife and my son got their favorite choice of gelato flavors. I went with Blood Orange and Mango sorbetto flavors. Their gelato and sorbetto are homemade. Their ice cream is provided by Blue Bell. The gelato and sorbetto flavors were good. I liked my choice of Blood Orange. It was refreshing and delicious. The Mango flavor was good as well. We had a good experience here. The service was nice and friendly. The shop was clean and inviting. I would go back here if I am in Destin again. Definitely check them out if you haven't before.

My middle son ordered the Monster Omelette, and "monster" is no exaggeration--it was absolutely stuffed with fillings and cooked perfectly. My youngest son chose the Crab Benedict, and he said it was incredibly tasty as well. Every plate that came to our table looked amazing, and everyone left full and happy. Before we left, we couldn't resist picking out a box of donuts to take back to our vacation home--and we're so glad we did! Every donut we tried was absolutely delicious. We shared a raspberry-filled, a chocolate cake donut, and several others, and every single one was fresh, flavorful, and worth every bite. If you visit, don't leave without trying a slice of the Key Lime Pie--it was fantastic! In fact, everything was so good that we ended up making a second trip back just to grab more treats before heading home. Between the generous portions, delicious food, incredible baked goods, and friendly service, The Donut Hole is a must-visit. We can't wait to come back on our next trip!

BLUF: Excellent breakfast all day and delicious, fresh donuts in a diner-like atmosphere…read more My party of three arrived at The Donut Hole to a long-ish line down the ramp and I was wondering if it's worth it. It is! The Donut Hole most certainly has diner vibes and I suspect the booths are original to its 1978 origins - both of which made for a nostalgic experience. Although named for the sweet, fried confections, The Donut Hole has a huge menu of breakfast, lunch and dinner items. My table all ordered breakfast even though it was lunch time. The breakfast was awesome - omelettes, pancakes, poached eggs, cheese grits, coffee and the most delicious rye bread. I had the sausage and cheese omelet and there was something about it that made it better than other omelettes I've had. Also, I loved the rye bread - it was sliced thicker than what I am used to and it was very pillowy. I enjoyed it dry but it was also good with a little butter. We waited about 20 or so minutes for a table, but once seated we enjoyed prompt, attentive, excellent service. And's let's not forget to talk about the fresh made donuts! Oh my, there were a lot of flavors to choose from and none of them disappointed. Initially I went with a chocolate frosted and Bavarian cream filled donut. But then a fresh tray of key line donuts came out and I had to get one of those too. My sister ordered a few and we took them back to our rental, cut them in quarters and had a donut tasting party. Delicious! I am looking forward to my return trip to The Donut Hole. A visit to Santa Rosa Beach would not be complete without a stop at The Donut Hole.
