First time visitors to Brule, and I have to say Twin Gables is definitely a reason for us to return! Their breakfast was delicious. We went with a full order of biscuits and gravy as well as the country fried steak. Both were piping hot when they arrived at our table and had amazing flavor. Our waitress was really on top of things and it was great to see how thoroughly the tables were washed in between diners and the bathroom was exceptionally clean as well. read more

Great food, terrible service. We visited for dinner on a Friday night. We were seated right away but waited about 5-10 minutes for menus. They came and took our order fairly quickly and our food came quickly as well. Our waitress said she would be right back with drink refills. We did not get our refills and our waitress did not return to our table at all. Other waitresses could see we were waiting there and did nothing. We sat there for 40 minutes with no service. We had planned on getting pie for dessert, but had to scrap that plan. We finally got up to check out without a check. The cashier refused to check us out because we didn't have a ticket! We finally had to say that we sat there without service for 40 minutes and didn't get a check. Not sure that we'll be back. The food was really good, but the lack of service was unbelievable. read more

I was in the area for a family reunion and my cousin recommended Twin Gables for their Friday Night Fish Fry. However, once there I opted for the Walleye, which you just cannot get in Southern California. All I can say is it was outstanding! I also got the Creamy Hash Browns and they were some of the best potatoes I have ever put in my mouth. I highly recommend eating at the Twin Gables for their Walleye. It was so good, that I'm glad we ordered a third piece! Now, just need a few days at the gym to slim down. read more

We stopped in for lunch while in town for a wedding. Broasted chicken was amazing! Everything was so great we came for breakfast the next day. Yikes! Different server and a completely different experience . Evidently, you can not deviate from the menu. I wanted to sub biscuits and gravy for toast and no potatoes.. you would have thought I'd asked for the nuclear launch codes. She seems very irritated said " That will be $7 extra." I had no problem with that, but I ended up with 4 pieces of toast and a giant side of attitude. Overall, it is a good place if you want exactly what is on the menu. read more

Great food, staff and atmosphere. Owners seem to genuinely care about their customers. An example of this was this past year, the restaurant was open on Thanksgiving, serving a great turkey dinner (reasonably priced) for those in the surrounding area who did not have family etc to spend this holiday with. Being a small town, I am very thankful for businesses such as Twin Gables Cafe. This business helps to create and maintain a sense of community in the Brule area in addition to serving up quality, home cooked food to its patrons. The wait staff is also great - they work hard, are attentive, patient, and strive to provide excellent service to their clients (even when short staffed). The food options here will remind you of being at the dining table of that favorite family member who knew how to whip up a hot, favorful homemade meal. The kitchen staff not only nails the basics (breakfast foods, fish fry, burgers, etc) but they also consistently deliver lunch and dinner options that are thoughtfully prepared, hot, and tasty. Try their split pea & ham soup, homemade pie and many more excellent menu options. Stopped in for breakfast on the way to Bayfield (9am on a Saturday). Cute little cafe with attached bar. Service was good and the food came out quick. I had the loaded hash browns and they were fantastic - nice and crisp, and they were loaded with onion, peppers, tomatoe, mushrooms and cheese. I also had a side of sausage patties which were good. Family had French toast and a breakfast sandwich. This place is a little gem. Four of us ate well for $30. read more

Absolutely loved the staff here! Hubby and I were starving and it was Labor Day so almost nothing was open or way to crowded. We stopped here and so glad we did! Hubby ordered the bacon burger with homemade french fries. Burger tasted like a really good ground steak burger. I had a steak N cheese French dip. It was really good. But I swear the best part was the owner waited on us and she was over the top! She was so sweet and probably one of the best waitresses we have ever had! Oh we also had a slice of homemade cheesecake! It was super creamy you could tell it was made from scratch along with a bunch of other pies in the case . We just got in town and wanted dinner, this place was 10 min away. We got here around 7pm on a Saturday, and they said the dinner rush was over. They were out of a few things, but we enjoyed everything we got. Country fried steak with white gravy, the hot turkey sandwich was thanksgiving on a plate, the homemade fries, and the homemade blueberry pie! We stopped in for breakfast before spending a day hiking and fishing the Brule RIver. I had the steak and eggs, which was filling for a good price. The place is clean and welcoming, with a cool menu board on the back wall. Our waitress was friendly, if not a little wry, and she was a good foil to my breakfast companions. What a wonderful find on our way to Michigan! Fantastic service by Kelly, our server. She had a great personality, wonderful sense of humor and big smiles and greetings for her customers. The food was delicious home style cooking, generous portions and fresh made from scratch! Sherri, one of the owners , came out of the kitchen to greet the customers. She is not above washing dishes or waiting on tables. Obviously all who work in this place take pride in what they do and it shows! read more

While staying locally at Brule River Classics (awesome, BTW), we stopped in for breakfast. Our server (Sherry?) was so great, it wouldn't have mattered how the good tasted. Fortunately, we were both more than happy with the food, too. I had the Cinnamon Roll French Toast and my husband had the Corned Beef Hash with a fried egg. Both great. We liked it here so much that we came back after dinner somewhere else to have dessert - coconut cream pie and red velvet cake. The desserts and two servers in the evening were great, too. Overall very positive experience. read more

What's not to love about Twin Gables. The food is great, the service is great and the atmosphere is like going home to family. I'm a big fan of the walleye. It's the best in the northland including the pricier places in Duluth. I'm personally not much of a rib guy, but my bro who is a rib fanatic considers them the best he's ever had anywhere. My wife's favorite is the German Chocolate upside down cake. And finally, the heart and soul of the operation is Sherry. She keeps things ticking and never goes a moment without a smile on her face. read more

Twin Gables Cafe & Lounge is one of Northern Wisconsin's hidden gems. Located at the intersection of U.S. 2 and Wis. 27, Brule is a tiny village. But you'll always see cars at Twin Gables anytime they're open. Why? Because the food is excellent and the service is just as good. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner -- it's all good. I'm particularly fond of their broasted chicken -- the best I've ever had. Their ribs are also first rate and their bakery products are homemade (and tasty!). Try the strawberry rhubarb pie with a little ice cream. Delicious! It's worth a stop, trust me on that. read more

One room here has a small stage and PA setup. We've never been here when they had entertainment. But they always have music on in the background for ambiance. They know what they're doing here to keep the fun alive. I recommend checking out for a low key evening with someone special. They have so many cool things to look at hanging throughout the space, on top of events!

We…read morehad a 5:15 reservation and we were seated promptly but then sat for at least 15 minutes before any waiter or waitress came to acknowledge us. We watched two other tables be seated after us and order and get their drinks before anyone had even stopped by or acknowledged us. While we were waiting my wife went to the restroom and while washing her hands she noticed that there were too large containers of hand soap, both were completely empty. This was a bit alarming considering every server seemed to be female, but one. This made us feel like maybe they weren't properly washing their hands but we don't know that for sure so I'll go on. The waitress finally came to our table after 15 minutes or so and took our drink order along with our food order as we had plenty of time to decide. I ordered Pilsner on tap to drink, only to have her come back 10-minutes later and me that they were out. Okay no biggie, I'll get something else. Our food finally arrived and my wife had ordered a loaded baked potato without sour cream. We immediately noticed her baked potato was completely smothered with sour cream. In addition, she found a nice strand of hair in her food. Lovely.... We both had the Jagerschnitzel as both of us had had it several times before. The Jagerschnitzel did not taste right and my wife said her water tasted like it came out of a hose. Our inattentive waitress (brown hair with glasses BTW) was by far the worst server we've ever had here. All other tables seemed to be served before us, checked on regularly, and have much better wait staff than we had. Upon asking for our bill we assumed she would at least notice the big glob of sour cream on the plate that my wife had to scrape off and realize that she had forgot to tell them not to include it, but no. We paid our bill and ran for the door. As far as the ambiance goes, the restaurant is really nice but we had flies around us as we were trying to eat our meal. Not exactly the upscale experience you would hope for. Based on our other two visits I would say this is not typical but I feel we need to give this review because someone needs to know how terrible our experience was there today, 7/11/26.
