I would highly recommend NOT buying a car from Rocky Ridge Auto. This was my first and last time…read morebuying a car from them. I went there on Dec. 2025 with my son to buy his first car. A 2023 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 SE. He paid for the car and what was to be 2 working key fobs. The one key fob works, however the other one doesn't. Our salesman Chase along with 2 others, were trying to get the key fob to work. They changed the battery which didn't help. I can't recall who said it, but one of them said, it probably just needs to be programmed and if you take it to the Mitsubishi dealer, they should be able to do that for you. We went to the Mitsubishi dealer on 12/31/25. After about 30 min of the technician trying to get it programmed in which he couldn't, he found the key fob is a knock off/3rd party and doesn't go with that car. The Mitsubishi technician said it'll be $463.71 for them to replace it. He said he would suggest going back to the dealer where we bought the car and letting them know that this key fob is a knock off/3rd party and doesn't go with the car and how much it would be to replace it. I text Chase letting him know what the dealer said. I was going back and forth with Chase from Jan. 3 until April 9 in which there was about 2 months that I haven't heard from him and had to reach out. He continually told me it's not their policy to replace parts. I told him. "If I sell you a $1000 watch and you take it to a jeweler who says this is a $100 knockoff watch from Walmart, you're going to want that $1000 watch. I can't say, we'll that's what they shipped me. I just sell what I get." He said their locksmith can replace it. I called their locksmith who said he can replace it for $280 and have it done by 4/10 or 4/13 the latest and Rocky Ridge told him I'll be paying for it. Needless to say I haven't heard back from him either. April 9, 2026 - I called and spoke with Travis. I told him the situation. I told him what the Mitsubishi dealer is charging as well as their locksmith. I then said, I don't understand, how a buyer can purchase a car from you with a faulty key fob and you guys pretty much just wash your hands once the car is off the lot. I gave him the exact same example as I told Chase. "If I sell you a $1000 watch and you take it to a jeweler who says this is a $100 knockoff watch from Walmart, you're going to want that $1000 watch. I can't say, we'll that's what they shipped me. I just sell what I get." He said well it's not just that cut and dry. He said he'll talk to the owner and get back to me. He said Chase has your number is that correct. I said yes and I can give it to you as well which I did. As of today 4/22/26 I still have not heard back from anyone. Travis, Chase, their locksmith, etc. I'm not sure how it's just not that cut and dry as Travis has stated. Anyone that purchases anything is going to want what they purchase. Not pay over $13,000 for a car only to be told I'll have to pay a few hundred more to get a key fob replaced because they failed to test it when they received the car. They obviously knew the key fob didn't work because they tried it while we were there and just assumed it needed to be programmed which it didn't. I would highly recommend to NEVER go here to buy a car. From the outside it looks like a legit dealership, but the way they work seems shady. It seems that they don't bother testing or looking vehicles over. They get them in and put them right on the lot. Whatever works, works and whatever doesn't, doesn't. If the buyer finds out later on something is defective or doesn't work, they just wash their hands and move on. Their communication is next to none. You will never hear back from anyone unless you keep up on them. It was months that went by and I hadn't heard anything. I continually had to reach out. Bottom line is their all about money and could care less about their customers or customer service. My son is just going to suck it up and get one for $463 from the dealer.

My son loved this car and had been saving his money to purchase a car. During the second week of July, my son called Sterling a couple times expressing interest in the car. My son asked the dealership if we could take the car to a local mechanic on Saturday 13JUL2024. The employee said that wasn't a problem. My son told the employee we would be driving 4 hours to the dealership that Saturday, 13JUL, specifically to see this car. At 8:00am, on Saturday 13JUL2024, my son and I headed out on the 4-hour drive to Sterling Motorcar. We arrived at the dealership at noon. We met with an employee, explained why we were there and asked if we could look at the 2017 Volvo S60. After walking around the car, we went back inside and asked if we could take the car on a test drive and have our mechanic look at the car. The employee said yes. We arrived at our local mechanic around 12:45-1:00pm. The mechanic began his inspection, and after about 30 minutes he said he needed to show us some error codes on the car. Our mechanic showed us approximately 12 different error codes, some were battery related, others were not. Our mechanic also noted the front rotors needed to be replaced. Our mechanic said it was possible the error codes were not cleared, and with the car sitting for an extended amount of time, it's possible the car never had a chance to reset. Our mechanic advised us to drive the car on the freeway for a while and see if the codes would reset. Our mechanic gave us a scanner to use for our test drive. My son and I headed out and drove all over town, on the freeway, etc. After an hour of driving, the scanner said the codes were still there. My son was devastated but felt we could speak with the dealership and see if we could negotiate during the sale. My son really liked this car. We drove back to the dealership and sat down with an employee. As I began describing the issues with the car, another employee interrupted our conversation to ask if we were talking about the Volvo. I said yes. He stated the owner of the dealership had sold the car. I was bewildered. My son asked if they would reconsider, but the employee said no, the car had been sold. I asked how was it possible to sell a car while it was on a test drive with another customer? I answered my own question my stating what they had done was a, "b**ch move." One of the employees started laughing. I then made another snide remark by mentioning their reviews seemed to be accurate about selling cars out from underneath people. I was absolutely furious with Sterling Motorcar's lack of morals. It is clear these issues stem from the top as employees tend to mimic their leadership. How does someone sell a car while it is out on a test drive with another customer? Granted there probably isn't a law forbidding a dealership to practice such deplorable behavior, but clearly this dealership is unethical. A man is only as good as their word, and clearly, Sterling Motorcar has shown their word is useless. A company cannot sustain its business when they treat customers with such blatant disregard and immoral turpitude. It is clear, based on numerous customer reviews over numerous websites, Sterling's customer service and questionable ethics are not up to par. Additionally, as I read the complaints on multiple websites, this company has been lacking for an extended period of time. Clearly, something needs to change. According to Francis (2017): Good customer service keeps customers coming back. Bad customer service keeps customers away. It is important that a business have effective and pro-active customer service personnel and a good policy. Keeping customers happy and getting them to tell others about the great service they received, will propel a business forward, whereas a company's lackluster customer service policy will damage the reputation of the company in several ways. Ultimately, bad customer service can cause the closure of a business. Obviously, Sterling Motorcar will survive without my family's business, however, this company will not sustain longevity if all customers are left unsatisfied and constantly questioning its ethics and morals. Don't get to do it everyday, but boy, such a review should carry some weight! After trying to negotiate on a used 2009 GTI at Autohaus, I found the identical car- with frighteningly identical mileage- for sale at Conestoga. A friend had spoken highly of Conestoga, so I went out to drive it with no reservations. Mel was fantastic in letting me take the car for a few test drives, including one to my mechanic, who gave the car an enthusiastic "thumbs up", with the comment that there are few dealers in Ephrata who he would be unafraid to purchase from, and Conestoga Motors was one of them. Two days later, the car is in my driveway. Throughout the process, Mel worked on me with a few minor issues. More importantly, Mel showed sincerity in standing behind his car, and I have no doubt that he will resolve any issues that crop up with it. As he told me, "we don't see ourselves as used car salesmen...we are men who have cars to sell". Yes. The price was extremely fair...much better than the cost of the evil twin at Autohaus by over $1500, and was a "great price" rating according to cargurus.com. I would have absolutely no reservations in going back for future purchases. Thanks, Mel.
