Wow! This pace is amazing. My family and I have dietary restrictions and we're used to finding restaurants that serve food that's "good for gluten free" etc. This food is just good. Prices are reasonable, on the low end compared to most normal restaurants. Eggs Benedict with vegetables was fresh, creamy and had a great mix of tart, sweet and savory. Service was above average. The restaurant was full and overflowing and the owner still managed to talk to just about every customer. The line took about 5 minutes to get through, despite going to the door. read more

Twist is a GF heaven- seriously. However, their new Burlington location is somehow EVEN better. I'm not sure how they are doing it, but the recipes just get more delicious. This place is amazing. Everything on their menu is gluten free , nut free. There are so many options on their menu and their are items that are dairy free, vegan and yeast free. The food is amazing , we tried their steak sandwich, meatball panini and Buffalo chicken tenders . Everything was awesome. Highlights: the turkey-apricot-cranberry sandwich is great; breakfast sandwiches - don't skip the house-made sausage!; the empanadas; the buffalo chicken sandwich (crazy portions!); the pea-not butter cupcake. +Tons of options and a rotating cast of baked goods. +Cheery staff and quick service. +Chai soda! -Prices are a bit steep given the portion sizes. I appreciate the healthfulness of the food, but I do often leave hungry! I understand that the pricing may have to do with the special ingredients, and I suck it up. The first time I went to Twist I was a little overwhelmed. They have a lot of food on display, it was early, and I was a little worse for wear. A friendly young lady asked me if I needed any help and I grumbled out "do you have any coffee?" and she laughed and got me some iced coffee (which was delicious, by the way). She then pointed to the easy to read menus, didn't pressure me to order anything right away even though they were quite busy. I finally made up my mind and got lemon squares, and a chocolate cupcake. In my state, I didn't realize that it was a gluten free restaurant. I don't have any food allergies and I don't place any dietary restrictions on myself. That being said, the chocolate cupcake is one of the best I have ever had. The frosting was a little excessive but still delicious. The cupcake though--wow. It was nothing like most cupcakes. It was flavorful and moist... melt in your mouth almost. I don't eat lemon squares but the others in the house raved about them. I have sense returned multiple times to try out the pulled pork sandwich ( I was extremely impressed) and the grilled cheese (also divine). At the rate I'm going I'll probably end up trying every single one of their items--sounds good to me. My only complaint is that they aren't open later! read more

I happily drive the 40 minutes from Boston to have lunch here on weekends. It is a gluten-free paradise. Absolutely everything they make is gluten-free, and many of their creations are also soy, nut, egg or dairy-free. They even have color-coded labels so you can easily identify foods that are safe for your particular allergy. Their baked goods are not just "good for gluten-free"-- they're just plain GOOD! I've sampled quite a few of their offerings so far and keep coming back to try more. Their bread and rolls are moist and tender and are the best gluten-free breads I've ever tasted. Their cookies and lemon squares are seriously yummy, and their "twisty" cupcakes (think Hostess cupcake with the frosting filling and fudge topping) is far and away better than the pre-packaged, mass-produced version. Their breakfast and lunch items-- from French toast (with real maple syrup of course) and eggs Benedict to tuna fish melt and ham sandwich are fantastic. Their coffee and teas are even great (hot or iced) and they even go that extra mile and offer simple syrup along with the ubiquitous honey or granulated sugar to sweeten your beverage. Unfriendly for small children. When I first walked in the restaurant with my six-month-old in a stroller, I found the space tight and cramped. However, I was meeting a friend so I decided to just try to make it work. After finally settling uncomfortably into a table, I got out my baby's premix cereal and jar of fruit. I was literally about to feed my baby his first bite when suddenly a woman came up and started spouting that outside food was not permitted because of the nature of the gf business. I was so confused at first until I realized she meant the baby food! So now I'm sitting there horrified that I've just been told I can't feed my child because it's somehow offensive?! My son was upset because I'm now having to pack up everything after I just put it all in front of him. I'm still in disbelief that this happened. After reading the reviews I really shouldn't be that surprised because apparently they are known for uncouth service. I've tried to like Twist. The food, when you finally get it, isn't bad even with the smallish portions and highish prices. But the poor customer service and very long wait have finally done me in. I just stood waiting to order at the counter for 8 or 9 minutes, unacknowledged, while six workers chatted amongst themselves at the opposite end. Knowing it would take another 10-15 minutes to get my food, I turned and left before my lunch hour was completely gone. We love to go to twist for baked goods (cake pops, twisty cakes and Chocolate cookies) and their meatballs! We travel an hour round trip and it's totally worth it to know that the food is 100% gluten free and safe. Everything I've ever had at twist has been high quality and amazing! I love my new local coffee shop- coffee is strong and tasty, food is delicious and unique. Benedict on the weekend is the best and their bacon cheddar scallion scones are so good! Even more important than my experience is that they cater to food allergies. With a now 2 year old who struggles with a dairy intolerance and had a soy allergy as well when he was younger, I know I can 150% trust twist!! He loves the treats we get for him and he doesn't get sick from them. That is the best peace of mind a parent can wish for! The staff is friendly and they take care to serve people. A GLUTEN-FREE EDEN!!!!!!!!!!!! If it's possible to fall in love with better-than-Hostess cupcakes, a perfectly toasted Caprese sandwich, scalloped potatoes that were SO delicious, a just-right crunchy (big!) chocolate chip cookie, and melt-in-your mouth muffins (lemon poppyseed! Blueberry! Corn! Pineapple-coconut!), then I admit--I'm head over heels in love with Twist! I asked twice if all of their items were gluten free only because I still couldn't actually believe the selection of breakfast, lunch and desert items available. To be able to walk into a restaurant and know without a doubt that every single item your eyes fall upon is gluten-free has got to be the best feeling in the world for those of us who have struggled with mediocre GF food, and sometimes downright wrong items that were deemed GF but may have had cross-contamination issues or, in one instance, a restaurant who thought gluten-free meant sugar-free (true story), or, in another unfortunate instance, the waiter who brought out the wrong pasta dish and yours truly gobbled it all up only to suffer in pain the next two days. Alas, the only downside I can find with Twist is that they ran out of several items in the time we were there--and it was barely 12:30pm. Good news for them, of course, which means the demand was more than they expected, but bad for customers who may have had their hearts set on a certain item, like the Moroccan rice bowl. Regardless, I found a delicious substitute and would like to think the chef will plan accordingly in the future. A steady stream of customers bolstered my spirits that Twist will continue to thrive--my heart will break if they don't succeed. We need more places like Twist as the demand for gluten-free food grows. Please, please, please go to Twist. Tell your family! Tell your friends! Actually, no--don't tell your apprehensive, cynical friends or relatives who think gluten-free means tasteless cardboard. Just take them there and have them order and watch as they bask in the flavors of their food. This place was quite a find! Everything here is gluten free, so its a little more expensive, but great to know that places like this exist. The vegan chocolate chip cookie was great and tasted like a normal chocolate chip cookie. I also had the strawberry cupcake and that was also good, but it could've been a little better. I wish I had a better experience here because the food was delicious. I ordered a breakfast sandwich, a pastry and a latte. I paid about $17 which felt really high. They delivered my sandwich (which was delicious) I think I paid so much for the sandwich because it was made with homemade sausage so that's fine. I was upset because the place was relatively slow and they messed up my order. I waited 19 minutes for my latte. I didn't get it until I realized they must've just forgotten about it. The latte was really good but I wish they would've offered me a refund for my drink. It seemed that they just didn't have a great system and the woman that took my order was pretty unfriendly. The lady who owns Twist does not have a welcoming attitude toward the public. I sat at an outside table, in early am when it was not crowded & many other tables were empty, & she approached me & asked if I was a customer & said only Twist customers could sit at the tables. Also, I had an empty McDonalds bag & she lectured me that only her Twist gluten free food could be eaten at her tables. I have indeed been a Twist customer there on several different occasions. I tried her oatmeal, sandwiches, chocolate cupcake & chocolate chip cookie @ Twist in the past & did not like the taste of the food at Twist. I have also bought her Halloween, Easter, & Xmas holiday sugar cookies for my nieces in the past. The owner not letting me sit at an outside table made me not want to ever give her my business again, & makes me want to tell everyone I know not to go there!!! Very Poor way to treat the public & quite unnecessary! I have read other Yelp reviews on this site where other people have also said they had similar negative interactions w/ this lady & also found her to be rude, so it's not just me who has this impression of her! I was especially appalled when I read the young mother's review where she described being chastised by the owner for sitting at a table outside & feeding baby food to her child that she brought there and w/ her. Twist has delicious food for sure, however it's just chaotic and disorganized anytime there are more than a handful of customers. There is no clear instruction on where to order - so people walk in and up to the registers, cutting those standing in line in front of the counters. I've also seen people walk in and just merge into an already existing line .... it could be so easily remedied with a hanging ORDER HERE sign! Twist would really benefit from a floor manager to help with this, help clear tables, move people into the right areas to wait for take out, etc.... I have been visiting Twist Bakery one and off for a long time and I have to say that each time I visit, I remember why I stop going. The workers are friendly but the owners obviously don't know how to run a business in the food industry. Ordering food is complete chaos. There is a line that you have to stand in to order and then pay down at the register. This seems like it might be a good idea but the space is too small to accommodate this type of service. I've called several times to order over the phone and pick up but upon arrival had to stand in the line anyways in order to pay. If you skip to the register, there is no one there to ring you out because the person who takes your order rings you out rather than having a cashier. There have been times that I've left because it was such chaos and taking too long. I also feel that the tables are dirty and customers don't necessarily understand that they are supposed to clean up after themselves because the workers will bring your food to your table when you take a number but the customer is expected to clean up the table.. its just kind of odd. It is too bad that the bakery is run this way because most of the food is great. I've learned to go during times that it's not busy if I want to grab a coffee or a treat to avoid standing around for an excessive amount of time/to avoid chaos. read more

After my gluten-free sister had sampled some of the amazing baked goods we knew it was the place to get desserts for her baby shower. Lemon squares were amazing, the chocolate chip cookies were - hands down - the best we have had in over two years of eating gluten free. The peach raspberry pie was so amazing we were sorry we didn't save it for after the shower because we all wanted more. I've been twice already and the food is great, service is fantastic and the atmosphere is casual. To the person complaining about noise and kids, you picked a bad time. I have not had that problem. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and willing to go out of their way to help. My sons have no allergies and they loved it. Ate it all and wanted to come back. Since they normally turn their noses up at my gf alternatives, that is a high vote of deliciousness. We saw a family from VA who had just arrived and their first stop was at Twist.
