Twist is good, it makes you feel healthy, the food all looks, sounds, and tastes delicious, but I am still confused by their concept. The website and signs in the store say everything is gluten free, dairy free, etc. etc., but when I ordered my hot chocolate they asked what type of milk I wanted, and when they asked what type of bread I wanted. I still don't understand if they just offer all these dietary special options, or if it is part of their every meal. Halfway through my english muffin I think I figured out it was gluten free, but still wasn't sure. The food, presentation, service, atmosphere, flavors, options are all impressive and worth it. Hands down, there is no question about that. But they need to straighten out their concept and labeling and make it more clear what you are eating, and what dietary restrictions are with each meal. Normally, I wouldn't think twice if what I am eating is GF, V, DF, etc., but with so much advertising/ descriptions it then makes me think and none of the answers were clear. For example, they have mac n cheese balls, lasagna, etc.... but they aren't listed as GF/V/DF... so it is unclear if they are GF/V/DF, or if they are normal? At the end of the day, it doesn't matter to me, but for many of my DF/GF friends it would be extremely confusing. Twist is my new favorite place for brunch, lunch or a delicious treat! I am always nervous going out to eat having both a gluten and a nut allergy. Typically places have gluten free options, but have nuts all over there menu as well. Twist makes me feel safe eating AND the food never disappoints. I have had a good meal every visit and I always wind up taking treats for the road because they make my mouth water! I love the variety of pastries and desserts every time I go in. What's about all the sugar and flavorless desserts? Try cafe indigo desserts (you can find at whole foods) and you will be amazed at the diff. Food here is okay. They try to make food look good with too much fat or sugar. Not good for health!!! You might be saving yourself from gluten/dairy harm but you will be equally harming your body with loads of sugar and fat! Do I really need all those extra calories without flavor? Staff is friendly but it seems like they get instructions from diff people. Not the same chain of command. Almost every time I have ordered in the past, the sandwich was put together diff!! There's diff between looks good and tastes good so just keep these things in mind when you go there. The food was excellent; chicken panini Was delicious, roasted red peppers made it extra yummy! Grilled cheese yummy too, spinach made it even better. Service was good, brought our food to the table. Since they added espresso to the menu the coffee selection is much more appealing!! Some of the employees need more training on what they can make with the new espresso machine. When I order some stare at me like they have no idea what I'm talking about. Then they go find the one or two people who can make espresso drinks to ask them to make it. It takes awhile. Love all their baked goods and salads for lunch. The rolls are so soft and delish. The lasagna was a little over priced but tasted good. Definitely give it a try!! read more

The food at Twist is always delicious! Service is always great too. Best yet it is all gluten free! The only thing I find lacking is that they do not offer any xanthum gum free options. Many celiacs can not tolerate much xanthum gum. I would definitely eat here more often otherwise. read more

I've been to Twist twice. It's in the location that was previously an excellent bagel shop (Bagels Best III). The decor and atmosphere of this location has changed dramatically. It's still just as welcoming, but it's got chalkboard walls, interesting art and rustic charm, kind of like a Pinterest explosion. Major indie cred. The food is delicious. I've had a couple of the prepared foods, muffins and desserts. The empanadas are excellent, and even better cold! The S'mores cupcake was dense and fudgey, but the marshmallow icing was out of this world good. My lemon poppyseed muffin was too sweet for my breakfast tastes. The coffee is good, although the dark roast isn't as strong as I'd like. The coffee station has every kind of milk, agave and simple syrup, but no Sweet & Low. Major indie cred. There are lots of gourmet snacks (homemade chips, brownies, etc) and lovely teas. Plenty of things to keep you there to enjoy the free wi-fi and comfy low leather chairs. My Celiac father was raving about this place, so we drove down so I could see what all the fuss was about. I am not celiac myself, but seriously enjoyed my turkey sandwich on a very fluffy, delicious roll. I love the color-coded allergy stickers. And everything in the bakery display case looked awesome (and not sad in the way some crumbly gluten-free things are). Wow, I'm seriously impressed. And they don't gauge you with their prices -- totally reasonable! Grabbed some day-old rolls to take home and a few sweet treats for later. My parents are looking to move to MA, and one of my dad's criteria is that the house must be within a 20 minute drive to Twist. Seriously. We found Twist for lunch on our way into Boston. We were not disappointed. It's getting easier and easier to find cafes and little restaurants that have multiple gluten free options. This cafe is completely gluten free which is awesome. We all ate breakfast. I had the 3 egg omelette . It came with fruit and toast. It was very good. My wife had the breakfast tacos and thought they were great. Our son had the french toast and also loved it. We tried 3 desserts. I was told they were all made in house which is impressive to make so many gluten free desserts. Our sons chocolate cupcake was really good. The food is so good that to believe it is gluten and mostly dairy free is almost impossible. First time there today and we were MORE than impressed. The only flaw was the veggie pot pie which was bland and sad. Other than that it was the polar opposite on everything. Shepards pie was amazing and so rich in flavor, bulkie rolls so fluffy and sweet like challah bread and the strawberry cupcake that was filled with some sauce was INSANELY DELICIOUS to the point that it was with no question the single most delicious cupcake of any kind I've ever had in my life. My boss at my company has Celiac disease. Our department started ordering lunch here for that reason. But we came back because 1) the food is excellent, and 2) because Twist is completely GF (gluten free) my boss has never had a bad reaction to the food. I have had the Smashed Burger, the Meatball Panini (the herbs used in the meatballs are superb), the Cuban Pulled Pork sandwich, the coleslaw, and the Boston Cream Pie cupcakes. We were excited when we found this Gem of a place called Twist Bakery and cafe.Twists is a place where you don't have to worry about anything containing gluten because it's all GF. Every item is fresh and delicious. The staff is pleasant and educated on most items available. The prices are on the high side(($$-$$$) but worth it most of the time. I enjoy eating at Twist Cafe and return at least 2x a month for lunch with my wife. Twist Cafe is located in the Roche Brothers shopping center. Plenty of parking and outside seating during warm months. I love eating here and I highly recommend the Whoopie Pie! Pros: Great selection of fresh high quality dishes. Pleasant staff. Great food and for someone who is gluten free their menu is 100% gluten free which makes ordering easy for once! Prices were affordable, coffee was good, and food came out quickly. This place will always get 5 stars from me (even if they mess up an order!). The quality in their food is incredible and the service is top notch! (most of the time, we all have our days right?) They are a completely Gluten Free establishment, that is allergen friendly. The only "Nut" used here is a coconut and they label all their items for the top allergens. If you are not gluten free, you should still go here because you can't tell the difference in the food like you may with other gluten free options. What can you get? Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner! (and there is a rumor you can now BYOB .. but double check this, I am not sure!) To sum it up? I think the biggest problem Twist is having is they're not promoting the fact that the entire menu is Gluten Free. If I hadn't been told this by a friend, I would never have entered the cafe. From a Gluten-Free perspective, Twist is an amazing restaurant. The food was reasonably priced, delicious, and fresh. Especially considering that most gluten-free folks survive primarily on frozen food :( For those who don't realize how difficult and frustrating a gluten-free diet can be, I can understand the mindset that Twist is overpriced and "trying too hard." But the prices are competitive for being gluten-free, and impressive for being gluten-free and FRESH. My recommendation? SELL the fact that it's a dedicated gluten-free facility, that the entire menu is gluten-free, and that many other allergen concerns are easily addressed. Then customers will be less wary of the prices, and more gluten-free patrons will be encouraged and excited to visit. read more

Requested a coffee beverage with Almond milk. Counter women said she does not have Almond Milk. I mentioned I am lactose intolerant and she did not offer up any alternatives, so I left. I love Twist! I am one of the lucky ones who can't eat gluten or tree nuts and Twist consistently gives me a safe dining experience. I been going since they opened and I miss some of the older items like the cherry bread and the home fries (bring them back!) During cooler weather, my non-allergy kids request the chicken pot pie.
