Despite the sweet and savory selection, inclusive of breads and baked goods, the service is greatly lacking! The staff are slow, often get orders wrong (double check before walking out and getting home to find that orders are not correct. Also, they seem to have items available if it profits them, not the customer. There is no regularity or predictability. Their bread is offered ONLY on weekends so if you live farther away, you cannot go in during the week to purchase bread! They are pricy as well, especially for sandwiches. I arrived at the bakery at 2:35. I got stick behind a slow customer and by the time I reached the counter it was 2:43. When I attempted to place my order I was told by the girl at the counter the kitchen closed at 2:45 and I could not get a salad. I asked if there was anything they could make me and she said no. First, the food is excellent at Twist and the place is very clean. However, it's very overpriced and why do you ask for a tip (or get an eye roll if you don't) when this isn't a sit down restaurant with a waitress? I always tip 20-30% when at a restaurant and being waited on, but this is not that type of place. No one comes to refill your beverage or as how your meal is, and you're expected to clear your own plate etc. It's tasteless that the owner or manager has this tip thing setup when you pay by card- pay your employees a livable wage!! read more

Really nice restaurant with a cool vibe. The staff were super helpful once you got their attention. Not sure why I had to give my cell number for an order taking place in store (hopefully won't get spam from them). They have a great menu but I was there just for the coffee. You can do flavor shots in the cold brew which I love. I got one with raspberry. Not nearly enough cream though and this took awhile to resolve as I couldn't get anyone's attention for about five minutes. Ugh. This is hard for me to do, because ultimately Twist is holy grail for Celiacs like me. I've been coming here for YEARS. I've gotten cookies for catering orders, lunches, desserts for holidays, etc. But the past few times I've been, the service has really left a bad taste in my mouth, and I can't ignore what happened today. To be clear, I live 40 miles away. I drove to Twist today to get lunch and some desserts for a family party. The chicken salad is the bomb and my absolute favorite thing to get when I come down! I asked for a small container of it, and the clerk told me she'd have to check in back. She returned and said they had it. But she couldn't do the chicken salad unless it was a sandwich. What? So I said 'Oh no, I just want a small container of just the chicken salad, not the whole meal.' (I've gotten this exact thing for years.) She said they weren't 'doing that today' and I could pay for the meal and just not get bread. ...what? It was an awkward exchange and I could see in her face as we talked through it that she realized it didn't make sense either. If you have the item and a customer wants it, why be petty? It would be one thing if they didn't have it or something. But sheesh! So the issue is, I drove 40 miles on a Saturday to be disappointed by something stupid. I love Twist so much, but this was disappointing. On the bright side, all the food I did purchase was absolutely delicious as always. Really expected more from this bakery after all the fantastic reviews !! Service was quick for my meatball panini, the meatballs are fantastic. Unfortunately the bread wasn't toasted enough or just not hearty enough to support the sauce and meatballs in this sandwich. A fork will be needed to finish this when i get back to the office. I also picked up a few cake pops. The signs didn't say gluten free so I'm not sure why the consistence was so odd. It was more of a cookie dough feel. read more

It's a good thing for my diet they aren't closer to my house....ham and cheese pinwheels are addicting. They're eggs Benedict are wonderful, but their real high light isn't the egg or the sauce but the home made English muffins I wish I had enough room for a cake pop....but...I guess there's next time. We love Twist - it is both a go-to breakfast spot and an awesome lunch spot. Definitely try the Local Salad, the Pulled Pork (get an extra corn muffing - you'll be thankful you did) and if you are in the mood, try the avocado toast with egg and bacon. Triple YUM! Always leave with some sweets to go, you can get all kinds of gluten-free, dairy free desserts. (I think they even go egg-free, but not so sure on that). It is an allergist's dream when it comes to gluten and dairy intolerances. I highly recommend Twist and will keep coming back. read more

Back when I wrote my first review for this place, I left eye twitching over the lackluster service. I have been back there since over the past year and a half or what not (math is hard) and I'm happy to say they've definitely improved! The staff is very attentive and friendly and my visits there (which are sadly not as often as I'd like them to be) are very pleasant. I am *SO* excited to share this place with others! For those with food allergies, this is as good as it gets. I sampled a WIDE array of baked goods. My favorites in order of fabulousness were the dairy-free: chocolate scone--moist and delicious with a wonderful frosting, chocolate fudgie bar (complex, deep chocolate flavors), lemon pound cake (I took off the frosting, but the cake itself was PERFECTION), and lemon bar--with a shortbread-style crust. I was less jazzed on the congo bar (too sweet for me personally), twisty cupcake (less flavorful that the other amazing offerings), and choc. chip cookie (I'm a fan of soft cookies and this was on the crispier side). After sampling all those sweets, I felt the need for some actual food with some nutritional content. I tried the vegetable frittata. It was exceptionally flavorful and boasted spinach, sweet potato, artichoke, mushroom and sundried tomato all in a delicate crust. Delish! Prices were very reasonable...particularly for allergy-friendly offerings. A chocolate chip cookie goes for $1.50. I've paid more than twice that for dairy-free options of the same size at other bakeries. Parking was plentiful and the folks behind the counter were friendly, welcoming, and helpful in making great suggestions. Neither the scone or the lemon pound cake were on my original order and she was SO RIGHT to add them! I sample the apple dumpling tonight, which I'm told is only available on weekends and always sells out (so plan ahead.) This place is a godsend for celiacs. I drove here from Boston for the first time and had no idea what to expect. The Boston cream pie was out of this world and everything was safe. Plus, I got 2 loaves of bread for less than $17. Will be back! Update: This place turned me into a customer for life. The owner is so kind and friendly. They even brought out water and a biscuit for my pup. Not to mention the food is the best I've had since my celiac diagnosis. It is, without a doubt, the best GF bakery and restaurant in the country. What's more, I live in Boston - about 45 minutes away. One time I drove to Twist and hit an extra 45 minutes of traffic and came 6 minutes after closing. Although they couldn't help me, the owner was so gracious when I asked her if there is delivery options instead. This place was quite a find! Everything here is gluten free, so its a little more expensive, but great to know that places like this exist. The vegan chocolate chip cookie was great and tasted like a normal chocolate chip cookie. I also had the strawberry cupcake and that was also good, but it could've been a little better. Even though their were teens working here they were very attentive and knowledgeable about everything that they had and didn't have. If your within the area this place is worth a try! read more

Stopped in for some assorted dessert base on previous yelp reviews. Ordered a chocolate cupcake, a chocolate chip cookie sandwich, cinnamon rolls and a coconut bar. The desserts had a weird flavor almost like a different sweetener other than sugar was used. Couldn't finish any of them. The cinnamon rolls were thin and underwhelming for $10. Second of all the baked goods are out of this freaking world. They also offer her breakfast sandwiches, coffees and teas. I stopped in this morning to purchase a cupcake for my sons birthday. None of his friends have food allergies so I purchased cupcakes from a regular bakery for them and an allergen free one for him. Typically I slave away baking and decorating safe cupcakes for him but this made it so much easier. I also got and iced coffee to go with brown sugar caramel and coconut milk. It was so good!!! Prices are a little expensive. Expect paying 4.50 for one cupcake. Was in Holliston and looking for a quick bite at lunch and found this awesome little bakery in the next town. It's in a strip mall primarily a bakery/ cafe but they make great breakfast and lunch sandwiches. Self service joint where I ordered a Pulled Pork Cuban and it was superb! Meats was juice and tender. Kids had Turkey BLT and Meatball Sandwich. They loved it except the bread on the meatball was a bit soggy. Parents had Tuna Melt and Vegan wrap. Awesome gluten and dairy free options! Definitely will return and also go to the Burlington location since it closer to me. We went to the location in Millis yesterday for brunch. Never having been to Twist before I was worried there would be a bit of a wait since we are talking prime Sunday brunch time. Never fear. There were plenty of tables open. They evevn have an outdoor eating area. This is a bright, comfy spot where I could totally see grabbing a beverage and a snack and doing some work. As much as I LOVED this place and I _really, really_ did, there are some things they can do better. They have big screens behind the counter which I am guessing are to display images of their baked goods or the menu. Great idea but none of the screens were working. The menu is not displayed anywhere and I needed to search the store to find the one printed copy they had. My two dining companions decided what they wanted and I got in line to order and pay. There was a woman ahead of me who ordered massive amounts of pastries and two people were packing them up. Neither or them, nor anyone else even acknowledged me or the growing line behind me. There were other people behind the counter or behind the coffee counter, where there was no line, who could have (should have?) offered to ring in orders. It took quite a while to have someone else come over to take my order. The kid behind the counter seemed a bit confused about what was ordered (One coffee, not two. One English muffin not two), so there was a lot of repetition. He also needed to go in the back to confirm if eggs were still being served. On the menu it mentions eggs are not served after noon. I ordered around 12:30. To me it seemed odd not serve eggs after noon on a Sunday. They were able to accommodate my MIL's egg craving, so thank you, Twist! I ordered a slice of banana bread to snack on while we waited for food to come to the table. I am not the biggest banana bread fan but this was awesome. Dense but light and moist. Excellent and you would never know it was gluten and dairy free. MIL ordered the aforementioned eggs with bacon and an English muffin. She was very pleased with everything, especially liking the English muffin. She is in town visiting friends and wants to bring them back for breakfast, so I think she is a fan. My foodie friend who is GF and GF and the reason we went to Twist ordered the Angus smashed burger. Normally she needs to order with no bun and a burger without a bun is sad (YMMV). She devoured the whole thing. I was allowed a taste and it was very good. I got the meatball panini with a side salad. Loved this SO much. The meatballs were light and so tasty. Usually a meatball sub is too much bread. Doing the sandwich as a panini is such a good idea for the meat:bread ratio. Did I mention this was a panini? It was grilled and crispy. Really the perfect meatball sandwich. I will dream about this for a while . . . or until I can go back to Twist. My only suggestion would be to shape the meatballs in a flatter form. For my panini, one side had this large amount of meatball, the other had nothing but melted cheese. Burger patty shaped meatballs would be a great solution. Speaking of . . . how about adding a patty melt to the menu? Yum! Twist is all about the GF baked goods so we had to sample. They have helpful stickers on the signs in front of the baked goods to let you know which items have certain ingredients. I am not sure what all the colors mean, I mean they might have the color legend posted somewhere in the shop, but we didn't see it and it was not on the printed menu. I needed to wait for a very busy counter to ask which items contain dairy. He said they are identified by yellow stickers. It was awesome that nothing in the shop yesterday had dairy in it. I saw things with blue and pink stickers too. No idea what they represent. They had so many options it was hard to decide. We ordered six cupcakes to take home (chocolate, vanilla and lemon raspberry) and a whoopie pie to enjoy there. The whoopie pie was gigantic and really good. We only had a few bites and packed up the rest and the remaining banana bread to take home. All three were excellent and survived a few hours sitting my my car. They even got a thumbs up from a former chef I know who is not really a dessert person. I know it sounds like a lot of criticism but I really did love this place and have already mentioned it to a few other people I know who have allergies and sensitivities. They are thrilled to know what a great place Twist is and can't wait to go. + + + As an aside, I need to order a birthday cake for my GF DF friend and was just looking at the cake menu (https://www.twist-bakery.com/cake-menu/). Every town should have a place like Twist Twist is a bakery cafe in Millis. They have a food credo of no additives and a full selection of gluten free options. Many times you sacrifice gluten free for quality of food, just not here It looks like a bakery/cafe with the counter on the left when you walk in and 10 or 12 tables on your right They have salads, sandwiches, cookies, cupcakes and breakfast all day. I felt like breakfast like my sister So we both had chicken apple sausage, w/egg white, tomato and carmelized onions on an English muffin. Read that sentence again. Besides tomato, the rest would be unavailable in any other restaurant It was fresh and delicious...when I went to the counter, I saw tacos, muffins and sandwiches of all types being eaten If you live out here, Twist is worth a try...I only wish it was closer to Boston read more

Found this gluten free bakery on vacation, and it's one of the best. I have celiac and have eaten gluten free for eighteen years, and this place knows how to do gluten free. The texture of the bun for my sandwich was perfect, light not gummy with a delicate chicken salad filling. I tried several pastries and all were delicious, lemon bar very refreshing with a delicate crust;brownie was deliciously decadent; pumpkin maple whoopi pie was nice balanced combo of flavor; blueberry rustic tart was loaded with blueberry compote with a flaky pastry drizzled with icing; ham and cheese pinwheel was a delicious breakfast treat, flaky and flavorful and not greasy.
