Take out order...food was great...but got our food 30 minutes after the text saying it was ready.

We stopped here for lunch on our road trip around 1pm. The place is very nice and the food was great. But, it was so busy and VERY understaffed.. the waits totally ruined our experience. We were hoping for a quick and easy lunch stop, but we were here for 2-2.5 hours. We were told a 20 minute wait for a table but it ended up being about 40 minutes. We wanted to be in and out at that point so we ordered as soon as we could but it took over an hour to get our food, and it was a super simple order... 2 salads and 3 kids meals. Our waitress could've done a much better job serving us and informing us of the status/ delay in our order (no update was given until we told her that we have to leave soon around the hour wait time). The service was terrible. The food took forever to come out. Had to ask for silverware. Was not given to me. I asked for to go containers several times for my app and meal and never got it. The bartender had plenty of time to joke and chat with co workers though. I got so sick of waiting that I paid on the tablet and left without any of my leftovers. Another good restaurant going down hill. My service was good, the ambiance was nice as usual. The food was horrible. Country fried steak was only 1/8 inch thick but had 5 inches of batter on it! The broccoli casserole was cooked way too long and completely dry. I asked the waitress to get the manager and she took the meal off our bill just paid for tea, salad and appetizer. I have always love cheddars but it's been a long time since I've eaten at one. A little disappointed they didn't have the artichoke dip, but we ordered the spinach dip and it was delicious. I had the baked white fish lunch with broccoli casserole, and green beans very tasty. Hubby the fish and chips which he liked. The croissants were stale. Our server KB was very attentive, very polite and we enjoyed his service very much. The women's restroom had a bit of a flooding problem so be careful if you go in there in heels. read more

I'm gonna start off by saying the wait time to get my order and my wife's order was ridiculous, so we never got a free butter croissant after placing our order, then waited for our order for about 45 minutes and we ordered a salad as one of the sides and well I'll be darn the waitress brings the order out and forgot our salads and the salads wasn't even that great, but I've worked in the restaurant industry for over 10 years it doesn't take very long to cook a well done steak, but if you wanna wait for your order for it feels like years then I suggest this location, I left no tip because the service was horrible. read more

Hostess Lindsey was AWOL, another couple arrived, stood waiting behind us, and the place was almost empty. It was after 2 pm. Lindsey finally showed up, no greeting, no smile, she didn't even ask how many. I asked for a quiet table, nope only tables are located in middle of the room, so said a booth would be fine. We followed her to the very back of the restaurant where there was a family seated with 2 kids. I was too tired to say anything, but a full table with kids did not say quiet to me! Spinach dip was uneatable because it was too salty and luke warm. Had breaded fish and shrimp. Coleslaw was tasteless, fish was overly breaded, shrimp was good, fries were cold and limp. Have been here several times and it continues to go downhill. Walked in tonight, no wait. First red flag. Seated at bar and there were only two additional tables with customers. Sat there for several minutes without being helped. Another table got up and went looking for the server. Had to ask for someone to clean the table after the hostess put the menus in the food on the table. The bartender helped us, got our drinks, and some croissants. The bartender was either not present or on her phone the entire time we were there. The food came out, and my was incorrect. She corrected quickly. Both of drinks went dry, and she finally checked on us to bring more drinks. The door to the outside was constant. Employees constantly going out to smoke. Saw several employees go outside with their gloves on, smoked, came back in and did t change gloves. The bartender went outside, smoked, came in and didn't wash her hands and immediately grabbed napkins to put on other tables. I'm usually a fan of Cheddar's, but this was has lost my interest. Our second time here and it was as great as the first time. Place was very busy but we were seated promptly. It is a very clean and comfy place. I ordred the cornbread white fish and it was so light and delicious and plenty of it. Probably one of the best fish fries i have had. Our server was great and took very good care of us. Disappointed! Fire the cook! The roasted chicken was bland, tasteless, undercooked with no caramelization color just looked raw and unappetizing. The broccoli cheese casserole was too thick, clumpy and nasty. The fries were not golden and crispy they were bad. The lemon pepper chicken breast didn't taste of lemon pepper at all. Sent everything back! Decided on the salmon dish with stinging salty flavor! Do better with all that professional cooking equipment at your disposal non cook. Well, work now has me in Jackson, Tennessee. Decided to go to Cheddars for lunch. Overall, my food was great, and my partner ordered the country Friday steak. My steak was cooked well and not over-seasoned. Had good flavor. My baked potatoe was a bit on the small side but my broccoli cheese Casserole is always delicious. My partners Country Fried Steak was huge and looked great. Our server was the beautiful Jatara. She was very attentive and did a great service. My rating would have been 4, possibly 5 stars if it wasn't for about a dozen flies buzzing around the room and our table. read more

Normally one of our favorite places to eat, I was very disappointed last night. I have been sick---quite sick---since I got up this morning. I ordered a Cesar salad as one of my sides and it looked bad to me. Pieces of the lettuce were brown and the whole salad was wilted. There was so much dressing on it! I was going to send it back but my husband and friend didn't think it looked too awfully bad. Stupid Me proceeded to eat about 1/3 of it until I just couldn't anymore! This morning I woke up with cramps---sharp cramps that have kept me near the restroom for the last 10 hours! I write this for the management. My boyfriend described Cheddar's as a fancier Chilli's and he was right. The food impressed me and filled me, and the prices on the menu are just right. This means that this place is popular; clearly, this is where everyone in Jackson is hanging out! We got there on a Saturday around 6:30 and the wait was about thirty minutes. They give you a buzzer and you wait with everyone else up front. It's such a cozy, rustic place, with brick walls and a gorgeous aquarium in the middle of it all. I really enjoyed the ambiance, minus the TV that's advertising all their foods with the sole purpose of making you hungrier while you wait. We shared the onion rings to start, and wow, when the waitress is bringing them to your table, it is all eyes on that plate. It's literally a tower of enormous onion rings, enough to make your jaws drop. There's so much that we had to get half of it to go. For entrees, I got the "lighter side" 6 oz steak, which comes with a bed of onion fries and two sides. I got the green beans and corn. I enjoyed it and thought it was cooked perfectly to medium-rare. It's a great choice if you're trying to stay healthy and light on those calories (400 for the steak, another 100 for the sides). My boyfriend got the country-fried steak, which he enjoyed, but he said it's mostly breading that makes it look so big. They did replace the mashed potatoes with the broccoli and cheddar casserole for him. One thing that rubbed us the wrong way was that the waitress brought us the bill literally while we were eating. She never even asked us if we wanted anything else or dessert. It was pretty rude and they should stop doing this to diners. If it weren't for this, they would've gotten four stars. It's been years since I've dined at Cheddar's. I was looking forward to the grilled catfish and was disappointed when it was replaced with a white fish . The staff was friendly , but unfortunately the food was not good . - I ordered a Kendall Jackson Chardonnay. It was stale. - I ordered fries as a side dish - they were cold . - I ordered the grilled white fish with lemon pepper seasoning and it had tons of lemon pepper , but the texture of the fish was rubbery and a little under cooked . - The other members in my dinner party had the white fish and tilapia and did not enjoy it either . It was over seasoned and a bit undercooked. - We were there to enjoy family and wanted to retain a pleasant vibe , so we elected not to complain to the manager. This is a regularly attended establishment by my family and I. I can't help but to find that almost every visit we come here, there is a level of inattentive service. This is not just a one time and done situation, this is literally almost every visit. I visit my family in Jackson once or twice a month and despite my wishes, we find ourselves here for lunch or dinner. What I cannot fully grasp is the attitude issues of some of the people. There is a genuine lapse of forgetfulness at every meal. A simple order for example happened yesterday when we sat in the bar area. I asked for water, no ice, and no lemon. I don't want to know where these people's hands have been so I usually opt for this option anyway. My family member ordered ice without lemon. The waitress came back (twice) with water no ice with double lemon for her and water with ice for me. Second time, she brought both waters with ice sans lemon. Finally, I just said to bring tap water from the water faucet. She comprehended that. Simple task made complicated and this is no exception to the rule for other visits. I just wrote 3 paragraphs about water. Should that have occurred? NO. Moving on... Food. I do not care the food. I find that the food is reasonably priced and generally edible. It is basic American food with not much substance, but you get a lot and you pay very little for it. My go-to's are usually the soups or sandwiches. If you're in a rush, do not come eat here. You will be waiting for a server for 15 minutes. I finally tracked someone down to even get our waters let alone our orders. Overall, there are better places to be had. Jackson isn't a food mecca, but there are better alternatives than Cheddar's. read more

As with every Cheddar's I visit, I love the decor. I was definitely entranced by their huge ceiling fans and hubby loved the giant fish tanks. My family had mixed experiences at the one in Memphis that later shut down but I had been told this location was good so when we were looking for food on the way home from Thanksgiving I convinced hubby and Mom to try here. I'm so glad we did. All the food comes in huge portions so I had leftovers. I wasn't impressed with the lemonades as they were very watered down but I was really impressed with the spinach dip which was watered down at the previous location but was perfect here. All of the food was just so much better. It was such a great experience I will likely even try the other Memphis location. I was told it was a 45 minute wait for one person to sit at the bar. Or I could place to go order at the bar. I've been standing at the bar for 15 minutes and have not even been acknowledged yet. I see why it gets 2.5 stars. I could tolerate the wait because it is Saturday night. But how about a little Customer Service, and at least say hey I'll be right with you, I'm sorry about the delay. When I finally was acknowledged after 20 minutes, the bartender called someone to take my order. This server was extremely nice, I did not get her name, but it said sparkle M on the ticket, she was what their customer service should be everywhere. Next time I'll just order online and pick up. We arrived and was seated immediately. It was busy but not over crowded. By the time we got seated our server was right there to take our drink order. The food was excellent and we got enough that we couldn't eat it all. The prices were reasonable for the amount of food you got. Not a very memorable experience at Cheddar's. My chicken pot pie was ok but not great, but then again I am somewhat of a chicken pot pie snob. I have found that brew pubs seem to excel in this particular dish. The salad that we had was as basic as it gets. WALK OFF HOME RUN TO WIN THE GAME IN THE 12TH INNING! Incredible value! I grabbed dinner here the other night while traveling through West Tennessee, and it was OFF THE CHAIN! First of all, I've been to Cheddar's a few times before (in other cities), and I'm amazed at the low prices for the types, quantity, and quality of food you get. The prices here are easily 25% below other similar restaurants. I ordered the bourbon-glazed salmon with sides of baked potato and steamed broccoli. The salmon was incredible. Cooked perfectly with great seasoning and an awesome finishing glaze. The baked potato was buttery soft, and the broccoli was cooked just right. The salmon comes on a rice pilaf, which when mixed with the glaze from the fish only enhances the meal. The server did a great job and was friendly, and the restaurant has a great theme and was busy. My sister and I stopped by on our way to Nashville. Staff was very welcoming and nice! The complimentary rolls are to die for!!! My sister got a veggie plate for lunch and a salad. Loved it all. I got the half slab ribs with coconut shrimp and it was delicious!! We will definitely be revisiting. Wasn't a long wait time for food at all and it was hot and delicious!!
