First timers on Sunday at the Round Lake location! We were really excited to try this place because the food looks phenomenal, the reviews are great, and it was in a perfect location. It's a corner store and it was so cool because it was an old bank and they even had the vault door and door open for the safe and you can look inside. We walked in and it was extremely thick and smoky in there so the first comment I made was that they def need a different ventilation system. There was only a few workers and they were working their tail off. Couple in the back (which is behind cashier and small and you can see all the fresh food being made so that's nice) and one cashier who was also running the to go orders and ice cream side. We had to wait a little because he was hustling but we didn't mind. There was an order kiosk that we walked past and didn't even notice but I watched everyone else do the same the whole time we were there. The cashier from the second we walked in until we left never had his smile leave his face and he was offering to clear dishes and check on people the whole time while still working cash register, ice cream, and to go orders. Great customer service and very clean inside. But the layout is so small and crammed. After we ordered they had a line out the door and a LOT of to go orders in and out. They could use a larger location and more employees if that's how popular they are! My bf and I just got basic cheeseburgers and my daughter got a chicken Cesar salad and we shared a snickers milkshake. The burgers were huge and we had 2 big orders of homemade fries that were delicious. We weren't impressed by the burgers unfortunately. The quality of burgers for me was not something I would really eat. I am picky on ground beef and burgers and it was closer to a fast food burger than a good bar or restaurant burger. Everyone's around us looked so good and even though we got basic burgers they still looked good but the flavor & quality really really lacked. It wasn't a char grilled burger and it didn't have that juicy ground beef flavor. It didn't even have salt and pepper let alone any seasoning on it. If we're being technical I hate shredded lettuce and it tasted cheap and the pickles were different than normal. The shake tasted like an old fashioned malty chocolate shake to me but my daughter and bf said they could taste the snickers. It was expensive for a small shake. Cesar salad was as good as it could be for a Cesar salad. The chicken quality was good and not cheap. I think I spent $60 or so with tip. Overall it was edible and expensive but not worth going back for us personally. read more

My partner and I had a California burger and a Southern chicken sandwich. Both were equally delicious! The burger was well seasoned and cooked to perfection without being too dry, like other burger joints. The Southern chicken sandwich is great, if you like sweet and saucy sandwiches. Same great taste, and maybe even better service than Grayslake. Yes, it's a little pricey if you are used to burger and fry combos from fast food spots, but the flavor combos are definitely worth it. My fave is always the Black Widow - bacon, barbecue, cream cheese and fresh jalepeños. The wraps are delicious, and the salads are huge! I like that they have mixed greens with iceburg lettuce in the salads. This location has the benefit of spaced out tables inside, and a really nice patio outside. They make everything fresh and hot, and are willing to alter your order for allergies or preferences.
