Egg prices have come down, but they still have a sign that states $1.00 surcharge on any dish with eggs. I ordered a German Pancake, which was about $15 last year, now it's $20!.. it was good, but not at all worth $20. It's a large pancake, slightly different batter. We love supporting small businesses, so we make our rounds in local places. We will come back to try to new items. The menu font is very very small, even my 18 yr old with great vision could barely see the details. I would suggest, please fix that. read more

I had serious doubts that this place would actually deliver but decided to give it a shot anyways. The decor on the walls didn't help my doubts. It looks like a dollar tree threw up inside. No real rhyme or reason to the decor. However, all of that aside - Service was fast and we were in and out within 35 minutes. The food was good - exactly what you'd expect from a diner; your standard breakfast foods cooked pretty traditionally. Nothing wild or unexpected in the food department. What an amazing find this was! Came for the Dutch baby/german pancake, sadly that's something you gotta call a day in advance to order (my fault for not reading the menu-- and yes I will be back for it), despite that minor setback, my girlfriend and I still had a wonderful brunch that hit all the right notes. This diner isn't decorated super fancy and it's a little small with only 12 tables, but it was PACKED and for good reason... The Chorizo Benedict was a stand out, the Nutella crepes were prepared beautifully and the staff was all super nice and attentive. We will definitely be back again soon. read more

This place is such a gem, whether you are local or passing through. It's set back a bit in a strip mall. There's a customer base of loyal regulars. The service is wonderful. I always say it's a good day when my breakfast arrives with the potatoes still hot and they always come through. The coffee is remarkably good and my personal favorite is the chile relleno omelet. The cutest little breakfast place in Round Lake! Came in on a weekday for breakfast. Got a coffee and a meat lovers skillet. Coffee was unlimited pours and the waitress was back often to top me off. Service was so great! The skillet was good - nothing too special but big portion. It came with toast or pancakes. My friend got chicken and waffles. The chicken was chicken tenders but she was told ahead of time. The breakfast is decent for the price as it is super affordable! Parking can be difficult in the parking lot as the plaza is busy. Trying to get the family back to Sunday breakfasts out and about and stopped at Eggspress. The restaurant is hidden in a plaza behind a bowling alley. Not easy to see if you were just driving by. My husband, the kids and I entered just as a gentleman was leaving a booth so we got immediate seating. I asked him how the food was and he assured me it was good. It took a minute for anyone to come to our booth and great us, but once they did the service was great. I was excited to see Chicken and Waffles on the menu so that's what I ordered. SO GOOD! My husband ordered the basic eggs and bacon with hash browns. He plans on trying the biscuits and gravy next time. My grandson ordered Chocolate Chip Pancakes, HOLY MOLY! So much chocolate, but the nine year old boy powered through! My granddaughter ordered the Meat Lovers Skillet. She ate half there and brought half home to finish. For four people the cost of breakfast was very reasonable and very delicious. We will definitely be back to explore other items on the menu. read more

This is a cute classic food diner. The menu has a lot of options & plenty of food!! They have a tasty homemade syrup that is delicious in coffee. Everyone enjoyed their food. We had omelettes & crepes The service was great. The place was clean. My biggest drawback was the lack of gluten free options although they do come up when searching for gf dining. Door dash/grub hub stand for pick up so deliveries aren't bothering patrons by walking through the small spaces. Food comes out relatively quickly. Despite being small, It is always packed. Ate there this morning for the first time in 2 yrs. Got Eggspress skillet which was supposed to be diced sweet potatoes but it had sweet potato tots instead. Had gotten this dish many times in the past under this and the two prior owners and it was always diced SP's and never tots. Not mentioned on menu either which needs a magnifying glass to read some of the captions and details. Tots were greasy and definitely the lazy way of soing things. In addition the eggs had to be old as the whites on my poached eggs were full of air bubbles and stringy, not smooth and firm. They charge extra for egg dishes now even though the price of eggs has dropped dramatically from a year ago. Coffee very watered down. Apparently it takes a days advance warning to order a german pancake even though this pancake is remarkably simple and fast(other than bake time) to make. They claim it is because it is home made. I would have thought the apple pancake would require this too in spite of it being more complicated than a GP to make. Strange. Makes me think the apple pancakes are premade and just warmed up. The homemade corned beef hash has more potato than corned beef which is pulverized to dust in their recipe and there was something oddly white in it. It also lacked flavor. Our server was nice about all of it but for $60 and not being able to really eat 1/2 the meal--my husbands fruit pancakes were fine not great-- we most likely won't be back. It is clear that the current owner is trying to cut corners on quality. My pancake also came out cold. They were gracious and provided a new hot one but sadly it was overcooked and tasted as if a box of baking soda had been emptied into it. Cannot recommend at present time. read more

For me, breakfast is a meal that is best when it is "down home style" and "comforting". The meals at eggs press cafe are both of these and more. They have a great selection of menu items including at least 7 varieties of Eggs Benedict (sometimes more if you include the specials board), and a host of great omelettes and skillets in addition to the favorites that you love. Something that is essential for my breakfast is good coffee- and they have it here. I also enjoyed their in-house made pancake and waffle syrup- don't be put off by its dark color, it is delicious. The pancakes that came as a side with my meal were good but not exceptional. I don't think I would order just their pancakes as a meal. During breakfast hours (especially on weekends) there can be a wait for a table. It's too bad that 2 out of their 3 4-top tables can't be separated into tables for 2. If you are in a hurry on a weekend you may want to consider another place- but then you would miss out on all of the homestyle goodness. I'd strongly suggest that you are patient and wait until a table becomes available. Service is great although when we visited they seemed a little understaffed. Kudos to everyone working that day that they were able to take care of everyone smoothly and with a smile. We will be back for sure. read more

I've always thought of this place as one of my favorite breakfast spots. When I heard that they opened up another location in Lindenhurst, closer to my house, I was thrilled. Well, we went there on a Sunday (their 2nd location in Lindenhurst) today, and was very disappointed. It took at least 20 minutes, just to be seated and given a menu. After waiting all this time, nobody took our order, so we walked out. I realize it's a new place and they have to work things out--but, the Round Lake location has been operating for a long time, and they should know how to run their business by now. I stumbled on this place when my first choice was closed and what a nice find. It's in the corner of a strip mall with plenty of parking and doesn't look like much and you could miss it from the road. The place is definitely a neighborhood hang out with booths, tables/chairs and a funky lunch counter with a stone arch wall in front of the kitchen. The menu had all the usual suspects and I wanted something a little different but nothing sweet so I opted for the southern bell Benedict with hash browns. Service was ok but the kitchen times were long compared to most breakfast experiences but I was in no hurry, just nothing so you know. When the plate hit the table it was a thing of beauty and definitely not any can crap, you could smell that this was the real deal. Thank you for not skimping on the wonderful sausage gravy like some places do. I didn't plan on eating most of the hash browns so when they were super crispy with a burnt flavor, I didn't really care. The eggs were perfect with that great runny yoke. The sausage patties were not the regular thin rounds but thick like the roll that you cut up at home. The biscuit was small/thin and left me wanting a bigger on to soak up all the sausage gravy. The sausage gravy was very good and creamy with just the right amount of sausage to please. Overall this was one of the best country/sausage Benedict's no mater what you call them from where ever you go and I'm glad I stumbled on this place and salvaged my breakfast. read more

Went there last saturday food was great! love the eggs benedict they make their own hollandaise sauce & the maple syrup is homemade also! The restaurant is small not fancy by no means but I would rather have great food than a fancy place and bad food which is the case with most of the surrounding restaurants! The waitress is great kept the coffee filled she is the only one waitress for this place! There is a nice young man who sat us and gave us menu's. He was also taking care of the carry out orders!
