I was in search of a place to get a new tattoo. I've gone here before to get piercings and decided to go back for a tattoo. I had an idea of what I wanted and even provided a photo. The artist @loreshortstacks was awesome. She looked at the photo I provided and said naw, I got you. She freestyled my tatt. She drew an outline for me and I was skeptical at first but when she started to shade it in... I relaxed and saw her vision. I must say I'm impressed with her ability to hear me and provide me with my own personalized tatt vs a photo of someone else's version. It came out beautifully and the price point was good. Walked we had our introduction and I explained to him what I was looking to get and the location. After that, I have my deposit which was more than reasonable. I got all my tatts done here by Phap. My first tatt was done in 2008 and I recently came back here (2014) to get a wrist tatt and to finish up my back piece (alibata down my spine). I like how Phap did an amazing job with ALL of my tatts. He even offered to re-create each drawing to suite my petite body, personality, and style. He never gave me a hard time no matter how many times I requested him to adjust the sizing or sketch. He wants to make sure his client leaves this place happy and satisfied. He also has an amazingly light hand so it won't feel like he's stabbing you too far into your skin but at the same time, the ink they use is great quality, so I had absolutely NO fading issues. I came here again since my industrial to get a second earlobe piercing. $30 for the double piercing with the twist earrings, and I couldn't have asked for a better price! It's so much better getting it done by a professional piercer than at a kiosk at the mall or Claire's with those guns. Lee is the main piercer here and I absolutely love her! This place is definitely not the same. I've been pierced here in the past and had an amazing experience, so I decided to take my brother here for his first piercings (ear lobes). Everyone that works here is super unprofessional (the piercer especially). Long story short, my brother continued to have issues with his piercings, weeks after being pierced and it's basically impossible to get ahold of their piercer, who works one day a week!! She acts as if she's readily available by providing her IG handle, but you can't even DM her on there. I've had to make multiple calls just to try and see if she's available to see my brother and check his piercings. It's now about 3 months later, and my brother ended up taking his earrings out and the piercings have closed. Biggest waste of time and money. I just got my second tattoo by Billy yesterday. He is an artist with incredible attention to detail. For the first one I brought in a photo of a very ornate, complicated flower and he did a better job of getting the detail right than scientific illustrators I've worked with. He used SIX COLORS on it and took his time. I've had it a year and I don't think it's faded at all. The one I just had done was a smaller, relatively simpler flower and again, he got it perfect, using 5 colors to get the shading right. He was very attentive to my description of what I wanted but gave important advice on what how small it could be done and still show the detail I wanted. The girls that were working the counter were super nice and the shop is very clean. The room where I got the tattoo was comfortable and has a couch where your friends could hang out if you bring them. I'm really impressed with Billy's work and will be going back again as I add to my epidermal flower guide. i highly recommend this shop. read more

Gotta have good communication when you're getting something permanent. Her work was amazing! Her lines and shadowing were phenomenal (he only did a black tattoo, so I haven't had a chance to see her coloring. Sure she is just as talented with that as she was with Wayne's arm today). I can definitely see why my friend always comes out this way to get it done from her! I keep coming back because I built a cool relationship with Phap (artist) he takes his time to make sure he hits every single detail and his art work is awesome. He also understands my pain tolerance isn't so well, so he has a technique to make it less painful and uses numbing spray to help with the pain. I live in SF get some ink from local tattoo shops even not close to Phap's work! First time i went and get writing on my lower arm by Phap, got compliments non stop how professional the ink! The second time I wanted to get a cover up, Phap spend a lot of time to adjust the way I like (my fault I couldn't decide) he took the time and was patient. I made an appointment with Tony because a friend of mine gave me a referral for an artist in the Bay Area. I have 8 tattoos total including the one tattood on me today. Oddly enough, no pain at all with outlining and shading!! The tattoo machine he uses makes it none to less pain when I usually cringe during outlines and/or shading with my other tattoos. My niece has been pierced here a couple of times because reputable establishments will turn her away. Why you ask? Because she's too young; even for many non-reputable shops. She had her industrial done here at 10/11 and now a double lip piercing at 12/13. For those not in 'the know'; most shops set a minimum age requirement with parental consent - usually it's 14 for non-genital piercings. However not at this place! I called and asked what their minimum age requirement was and the receptionist had to ask me to repeat myself. She then stated, "Oh, it doesn't really matter...just make sure her mom comes with her." Lovely. Shortly after she did ask about what piercing and how old, but once again brushed off age and said, "Oh yeah that's fine." I'm assuming she was only asking to assure that it wasn't for a genital piercing. I've never stepped foot into this shop, nor will I ever have the desire to but after seeing the generic in-and-out job on my niece's piercing placement (which catches on her braces, by the way) was enough to make me want to write this review. Ultimately though all this lies with the "parents" who would rather be their child's 'best friend' as much as it does these sort of shops that do a disservice to the body modification community as a whole. read more

The woman that does the piercing is really thorough and explained aftercare instructions to my daughter a few times. They are very professional and each experience has been pleasurable. I got a tattoo here maybe a year ago, and I was not very happy with it. The artist didnt even take the time to draw the tattoo, they just printed somthing off the Internet, I should have spoke up and told them what I really wanted but I didnt and thats my fault. Tattoos are going to be with you forever so if you dont love it, dont get it. Also the price was pretty high, I was luckily able to talk them down a few bucks, but the tattoo was not worth it. I went to Twisted Illusions for the very first time last night. I arrived at 7:30pm, I understood that they were to be closed in another hour, which was fine. I did NOT love the vibe when I walked in. It felt like I was walking in to a Nail Salon!!! (Im am not just saying that because she was asain) The lady at the front desk looked at me like she was confused why I stepped in the door. She looked like she just bit into a lemon and had a stick up her butt. I asked her some simple questions and wouldnt even make eye contact with me. She eventually answered my questions and just passed me a business card. It presented itself as being an unprofessional tattoo shop. I was very disappointed because I have heard several good reviews from this shop. I will never return here and I hope you take my advice. read more

I got my lebret pierced here, a few years ago, and I would like to say that "it hurt" a lot, yeah, your probly like.."Duh!" but I actually believe that the peircing, (when it's done good) only hurts for a few seconds, right? Well I just have to say, my tounge pirecing didn't hurt that much. 5 years ago when I moved to Hayward I was told not to come here if you wanted to get tatted. Then again lots of artists come and go thru shops. I personally like to get work done from various artists and not just one. I am glad that I have been able to get some work done by Phap. He is very professional and the staff is friendly. Everyone that I have come in contact with about my tattoo has given me nothing but awesome comments. Phaps lines are clean and solid and he is very passionate about each piece he does. Even though I did not get a huge piece done he took his time to make sure all the lines were clean and solid. Shading was on point and the coloring is immaculate. My husband who is very anal about tattoos and is very picky on who does his tats has now like to get one done by Phap. I will defin return to get more added to the piece he did. read more

She's really detail oriented and really helpful, nice, and made the process fun. She was a total pro at distracting the hell out of me so I wouldn't start crying like a baby, too. I got my Naval and nose pierced here. The girl that did my piercings, I forget her name, but she did a good job! She explained everything before she did the procedure. And the piercings turned out nice! I wouldn't mind getting a tattoo at this place either cause i've seen their work and all of their tattoo's come out really good! This place is a joke with a capital "J". The work is overpriced, and just simply, mediocre. There is a misconception that everything good is pricey, that's not true! This is the Bay Area, not in the middle of the country in Idaho. I've seen the work they do, and have visited this location. The only thing I can say about this place is that it's clean. For the price of average sit down, there are way to many other places you can go to do equal or better work for less. They feel that their high prices proves "professional work". But in reality, the only thing it proves is that uneducated or unsuspecting people will pay more because the don't know better. Scam artists. The staff is rude! Shout out to Tony for doing a great job on my birthday tat and for taking me in last minute. Super chill dude with a great attitude and awesome line work. He made sure everything looked right and how I wanted. After placing the image, he took me to the other tattoo artist for another opinion which I appreciated. Nothing but compliments on my tattoo. My only complaint is the girl at the front desk. On the phone she was super nice and made me an appointment last minute. When going in and talking about my tattoo, she looked at what I wanted, which was a three word quote (placement was behind my ear), and said that it more than likely wouldn't work there because the artist wouldn't be able to shrink the font that much...........what? I've seen tattoo's that were super tiny done behind the ear, and because the font was times new roman, I didn't really understand why it couldn't be done. She continued to tell me to pick a new place because she didn't think it would work out. Why would you say that to someone who came into a tattoo shop with their heart set on what they want, especially when you aren't even the tattoo artist? As soon as Tony got there I explained the situation and he said "of course it'll work out there", he took a ruler, measured the space, and printed out my quote. OMG I don't know why this place is rated so high. Their prices are crappy and service is not the best. I came in here a few weeks ago to get a tat done but left once I saw they where trying to over charge my friend and I. We first where told it would be $80 per tattoo regardless of the size. And that it would be for only B/W. Color would be extra I was looking at almost $400. As for my friend $350 or so.... So we left and ended up going to Tattoo 13. OMG this place rocks. Not only did we get what we wanted and customized but we also saved over $300 my tat alone ended up being $150 I love it!!! Decided to give this place another chance my tongue piercing came out. Has been out for about 1 week I couldn't put it back in so I thought I could come in here and have it re-pierced, this girl sux. She fucked up my piercing so bad :o(. She missed the original hole by a mile. It was so slanted that the bottom was rubbing on my teeth not only that but she pierced one of my veins. I have never bled so much and now the front tip of my tongue is numb. I told her it did not feel right and she was like oh "that's normal when you have it done again" But you could tell she was lying. She offered me to come back and her do it again. But hell nah I'm never stepping foot at this place again. I'm so mad not only did I throw my money away but Once again I had to remove the piercing. He was awesome because he said he usually charged by the hour, but he worked with me and charged me a flat rate, My tattoo was pretty big too. I got 4 cherry blossoms with some waves of water underneath it. I've only had 2 tattoos and I was pretty scared of getting this one because I've heard all the horror stories of getting it done on your ribs, but it was bearable. Billy gave me a lot of breaks and he didn't rush through it. On the real, he's really good at what he does and he'll let you know what looks good and what doesn't.
