Have been eating here for years and just had the worst of the worst. Chicken, all previously frozen and absolutely tasteless, both wings and the 1/2 barbequed. Bones were black. The beans were also tasteless and were once something I looked forward too. Macaroni and chees had no taste either. What happened to this place? They included some "bread" which was totally dried out and crispy, not really edible. Never again, you've gone too far downhill. White chili is great, perfect amount of flavor and heat; ribs and sauce are delicious down to the bone, especially if you appreciate the charred bits; corn pudding is a yummy sweet and buttery side; mac and cheese is so-so. OMG!! My mom and I came in for dinner since she had a craving for BBQ. Came here for lunch break at work. Got the dirty dog (hot dog with BBQ pulled pork on top) came with a side got the mac and cheese and a coke. I wanted to keep it light so I wouldn't get a BBQ hangover and keep it light on the wallet. Came out to just over $5. Pulled pork was damn good. BBQ sauce was perfect sweet and the pulled pork was so tender and flavorful. Standard dog and Mac and cheese was good, nice portion. Then reasons I took a star off: The coke actually wasn't coke I don't think. Tasted like generic cola like RC. You can use the bathroom but you have to walk around back and get let in. Twisted q is awesome!! We had brisket vegetable soup and it was really nice and hearty.. I had the baby back ribs and it was one of the best I've ever had! Bf got the meatloaf sandwich with fries which was delicious as well. They have a great variety of cupcakes and they were super yummy, especially the oreo, red velvet, and peppermint cupcakes! We were both very stuffed and satisfied. Our waitress Pam was super nice and friendly and made sure my glass was never empty.. The place had a nice feel to it and is a great hangout spot. ordered from this place 3 times in the last 4 years, always because visiting family requested it despite my warnings that the order will be wrong/missing stuff. We order recently, big family party, cancer patient requests specific items, almost 150 dollar order, 15 people. We wait over an hour, I get the food. Take it home. It's missing 3 items. Call up, they tell me that I am mistaken and the food is all on my table. Don't order from these people. They get orders wrong 24/7 and they never admit, and they WILL charge you for the missing items and have an attitude problem when they tell you YOU'RE wrong, becuz scamming a few side items is how I want to spend my time during a family party. Anyway, yeah the food is ok but they can't manage orders and gave the customer service skills you would expect at the post office or DMV. read more

What a hidden treasure Twisted Q BBQ is! My Railroad Club went on a Metra Trip Saturday to Homewood and what a find this place turned out to be. We planned to eat like we had two years ago when last in town at Tom's. Marching the three blocks east from the Station we soon discovered Tom's was out of business! Thank heavens Kathy had seen Twisted Q BBQ on the way to Tom's. In fact it was just three doors from the Station and on the south side of Ridge. We had walked along the north side. Opened last year, it is next to another closed restaurant. There is really nothing fancy about the place except for its amazing portions and super home cooking. If this place were in Milwaukee, I'd be here weekly. Emily and her associate greeted us and once situated helped us with the menu and large water glasses with the outside temperature a humid 85 degrees. I ordered a Senior Hamburger with fries and what a treat it turned out to be. No simple burger here, covered in caramelized onions and served on a double-buttered bun with hand-cut fries it was amazing. Almost made me feel I was back in the Dairy State! Kathy ordered the Taco Salad which was huge and even turned some heads on its way to our table. One Bob ordered the Brisket Salad and the other Chicken Wraps, two huge wraps enough to feed three and he finished it all! Thanks to Kathy we all split one of the bakeries large and filling chocolate brownies. Yummmmm! Not only was Twisted Q BBQ a "lifesaver" for us, but we hope it will be a valuable asset to Homewood. Its extensive menu lives up to its name offering a wide variety of bar-b-que as well as traditional offerings, great bakery and reasonable prices. This spot actually makes some serious BBQ! The Dixie Brisket Sandwich was tasty and the peanut butter pie was slammin! The catering seems to be reasonable as well. Its weird because I was just in Austin Texas and ate at a few of their more renowned BBQ spots and walked away disappointed, thinking about the multiple spots in Chicago that are so much better and lets face it, we're not exactly a BBQ destination. I visited the establishment after reading fellow yelper's reviews. To say that I was misled, was an understatement. Today is Father's Day and instead of putting the hubby to work, I'd hoped to treat him to worthy BBQ. That didn't happen. Upon entering the empty restaurant around dinner time, when it should have been busy, I should have turned around. I did not smell smoke or anything faintly close to BBQ. The young man behind the counter gave me a doe-eyed look as I announced that it was my first time there. He did not offer any suggestions or even welcome/thank me for coming in. I mill over the menu for a bit and decide on the brisket and 1/2 chicken. Before I settle on the cole slaw as one of my side item choices, I requested to sample it. He told me, "No. We pre-packaged them." So, I guess that means that they made juuuust enough and there was not a spoonful left outside of the 2 oz containers they filled.... But he assured me that "everyone says it's good". I ordered it, in spite of my reservations, the potato salad, fries, and mixed vegetables. The food did not take long to prepare. He walked the bag over to where I was seated and thanked me for coming in. Get home. The husband said the brisket was "good/decent". I agree. However, the 1/2 chicken was more like a 1/2 cornish hen. I have NEVER seen a 1/2 chicken so small in my life. I try to stay away from meat with hormones, but this chicken must have been either a cornish hen or runt! The chicken was moist as was the brisket. Nothing to be ecstatic about. I will say that the sauce was yummy. It was thick, spicy, and tangy. Hit me right on the back of my tongue. Every once and awhile you come across a place or event that you shout out "That was incredible" I had such an experience at The Twisted Q in Homewood. It use to be a bakery but has been converted to a restaurant/bakery and an added bonus is the local entertainment. It has BBQ, pulled pork, and a great hamburger. I found my new favorite local beer, Shock Top, a honey crisp apple wheat. The service was very friendly and the owner was present and friendly. We met friends here and were treated to local music from a group called Weeds. The energy from the small local crowd added to the participation of friends from the audience. We visited for a late lunch/early dinner. I had the Dixie Brisket Sandwich, which was smoky/tangy and a big mess to eat. Good thing there were extra napkins on the table. I did enjoy the sandwich quite a bit. I chose potato salad as a side and it was so good that I took a container home with me. Husband had the white chili which I tried and we both really enjoyed. My son had a donut and it was OK, but nothing too special. My husband had an Almond Joy cupcake that was acceptable, but not memorable. The place smelled like barbecue and the service was excellent. The food is solid! The apple pie was delicious and not overly sweet. The pie could have been packed a bit more but other than that no complaints. The bathroom floor was not clean and there was no changing station in the bathroom. We came to Homewood for the Rail Fest happening around the corner and decided to eat lunch there before heading home. Lots of other families with little kids were also eating there so we stayed assuming this was a family style restaurant. Had our meal, which was okay for the price but when I had to take my son to the bathroom to change him, there was no table in sight. I would have given you 4 stars, because the cup cakes were very good and the service was nice, but no changing table is a big no-no for me. read more

I was so pleased with the service and food I received last night! I had a last minute party and decided to have Twisted Q supply the food. I called and spoke with someone who was SO HELPFUL in letting me plan the menu, based on the number of people I had. I try to not be "that annoying person" but I usually manage to be annoying anyway, and this order was no different. I changed quantities and asked for lots of suggestions and the person taking my order was so patient and so helpful. He offered suggestions and didn't get annoyed at all when I chose something different or a lesser quantity. The food was packaged perfectly, labeled and was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. It's been difficult finding great local restaurants since moving to Homewood from Chicago. Chicago is oozing with excellent food options and Lillie's Q on North Ave was my hometown BBQ spot. I put off going to Twisted Q because I was certain it would let me down. I was wrong! Twisted Q is delicious! The service is great and there are several side options (I tried them all and they're all good). The ribs and brisket were a little on the dry side, but they were still satisfactory and so far my favorite has been the pulled pork. Twisted Q will be my regular BBQ spot now. read more

Came here because yelp recommended it while I was in town. Didn't have anything to complain about. Food was good and the portions were big for what you pay for. I got 2 beers and a 1/2 lb mushroom swiss with fries for $15. The staff was nice the whole time. Environment was good as well. Twisted q never ceases to be just incredible. The food is fantastic, i never have a bad meal there. The employees are all personable and very pleasant to talk to and be around. My blue moon came with a giant orange slice which you NEVER get anywhere else. By far my favorite place in the area. Such a home feeling to it. One of the best kept secrets in Homewood, my wife and I went in due to a rain storm decided to have dinner and it was fantastic. I have eaten at Twisted Q at least 30 times over the last two years and had Doug cater business lunches at my company at least 6 times over the last 18 months. The food is always great! This week we had customers come in three different days and had a slightly different menu each day. Pulled Pork, Brisket, Ribs, Apple-wood Smoked Chicken, Boneles Chicken, Corn Pudding, Mixed Veg with Garlic, Calico Beans, Potatoes and Cole Claw, Various Cookies and Brownies for dessert. People asked where the food came from and went back for seconds and took home the brownies and cookies in napkins. I never have to worry about anything when I ask Doug to take care of my events.
