I don't usually go out of my way for a vegan burger but will definitely go back to the nearest Twisted Root as soon as humanly possible. The homemade veggie patties have amazing taste and texture that harkens back to a time when restaurants didn't rely on Impossible and Beyond products to satisfy the plant eaters. The bun, sauce, and toppings were carefully selected to compliment this burger and it wouldn't be complete without a side of their house-chopped fries or chips. One of my favorite parts about coming here was the giant vats of sweet, savory, and spicy pickle chips you can pile on your plate at no additional charge. The soda and iced tea options were also a brand I've never heard of that seemed like you were getting real flavors and came sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. The Millionaire | 7/10 Honestly, I think I would've rather enjoyed a burger with some crunchy jalapeños and local bison meat as opposed to this guy here. Twisted root has some fantastic burgers - so you can't really go wrong!.. however, they all are pretty greasy when it comes down to it. You may end up spending most of your time pulling napkins and wiping off your hands. The aesthetic of the place is awesome / hip / cool / "groovy." There's literally an RV with beer taps hooked up to it. We came for food and conversation - and it was perfect; however, it can get rather loud, so it may not be the BEST place for dates / business meetings. My entire family loves the soft buns and delicious cuts of beef or other meets like Buffalo. The kids really like the ice cream treats but I never save enough room. The chicken sandwich was huge and just the right about of heat. Those onion strings though, they were so good. I wanted to just eat them all day. The only downside was the shake. I ordered the strawberry shake and it wasn't what I expected. It was just a vanilla shake with some strawberries at the bottom. It was also super airy and not in a good way. It felt like a let down, especially for the price. My recommendation is skip whatever it is that they are calling a shake and just get a drink. I wouldn't go as far as to say that it's the best burger I've ever had but definitely up there and most certainly above-average. I like the ambiance that Twisted Root presents not just in the building itself but the way the food is presented when served. They also have a really nice pickle selection to choose from, my Favorites were the regular Dill and the sweet and spicy. The food is priced just about right for what you get as far as the Burgers go while the French fry portion It's quite small and could use an extra hand full for the price not to mention that the fries that I got were all slightly overcooked and thin little pieces. I like my fries long, and thick, The overcooked part can be overlooked if all else is right. All and all it was worth the visit and not only do I recommend you give this place a try for yourself but we will be revisiting often. I'll break this up by food and by service. Food 4 Stars- Very tasty burgers and the winnebago bar was a fun addition to the meal. Service 2.5 Stars- The cashier was so nice, but there was this older woman who must have been having a bad night. When the cashier asked if they had Barrel Aged Old fashion, she replied with a negative attitude and tone. The poor cashier returned with her head down from the response she got from the older woman. We then got our drinks that the same older woman made, well I've been drinking old fashions for a while now and after a small sip, I knew something was off. I let the woman know the drink wasn't made correctly and was so over powered with bitters that the sweetness removed the flavor of whiskey, but when smelling the drink I realized she didn't portion the whiskey due to being down to the last of the bottle but had to pour two drinks. She went ahead and poured the rest of whiskey in two drinks instead of measuring because she knew the bottle didn't have enough for two drinks. I told the bartender about it and she said, I'll pour it differently next time. Completely ignoring my feedback about the drink. So I ate the yummy burger and left the full drink on the bar and left. I love twisted root! I recently came here for a burger while on a low carb regimen. I did not get a bun I got a lettuce "wrap" instead. I ordered the verde burger, one I had never had before. All of the toppings are ones I love (guacamole, cheese, hatch chilies), so I anticipated it to be super good. The burger was pretty bland to my surprise. I was a little shocked, bc I have never had anything bland from twisted root, ever! I will blame it on my lack of bun! While there is a menu with lots of options, the staff seemed to be really flexible with meats, buns, and toppings. Horrible experience. My wife's hamburger was bloody raw. When she took it back she was rudely informed she should have asked for well done and all of their burgers were cooked medium well. When blood from the meat is soaking into the bun that is not medium well. They dumped her plate (burger and fries) and made another burger. When they brought the second burger to the table there were no fries and the meat was bloodier than the first one. Why did the cook think he was remaking the burger? You would think for 20 bucks you would get a burger prepared by someone who knows how to cook a burger. We are done with twisted root and will never go back again. First time here, stopped by after a cowboys game and it wasn't too crowded. The environment is fun with many classic truck tailgates as wall decorations as well as ice chests as seats. Several TV's throughout and large seating area to handle bigger crowds. The burger was flavorful and I loved the bun they used and big pieces of bacon, very filling. The kids chicken strips however was very skimpy as shown in the pictures, for the cost was expecting bigger pieces. You must order fries on the side as they don't come with the burgers. Be careful with this location! I've visited numerous Twisted Root locations for nearly a decade. I usually find consistency in this chain. This location was way out of tolerance and well below the standards of others! Very disappointing. Our party of 5 were on 2 tickets and 3 of the 5 had orders that were not right. One had asked for cheese to be added that wasn't. One asked for medium and the burger was quite dry and charred (obvious well done) and mine was a rather dry All American with only 1 strip of back and a tomato slice with a very fibrous core. The iced tea containers were empty and the lemonade mix was out remained that way the entire 40 minutes we were there. Management was informed by 3 of the party once we encountered it. The pickle barrels had been mixed (Some of the hot variety were placed in the Dill and Bread and Butter). Not just a slice or 2 but quite a few. I'm a huge fan of their pickle slices, usually! The pickle barrels were in bad need of being cleaned. The lids and tongs were quite sticky. Two of the tong holders had multiple slices in them. The wooden benches were sticky with lots of food debris on the floor. The condiment containers were sticky and needed a good cleaning. I should mention that the server had to walk around the restaurant looking for the tags on the table. When she delivered the first order, she took the wrong one tag. Minutes later, we saw her making a 2nd trip around the seating area trying to find the owner of the order she had and it was ours. The restrooms were atrocious! While I didn't go in the women's, the women in our group were all complaining about the stench and lack of cleaning. The men's restroom was dirty on toilet, walls and floor. The trash was full. Had it just been an item or two would indicate a minor event. This was gross lack of management oversight and indicated the employees just didn't care. read more

Honestly, I'm pretty surprised by the low rating of Twisted Root. While visiting the area for work, a friend recommended that we check these guys out. I had no idea they were featured on Diners, Drive In's, and Dives until I saw the large Guy Fieri poster by the front door. The line was out the front door around 1pm on a Sunday but they take counter orders quickly. Once we placed an order and grabbed a table, we waited for about 15 minutes for the food. This was understandable since they were so busy. This gave us time to check out the restaurant, video games, and pickle bar. They had unique pickle options available which was fun to try out. They also let you text drink orders (alcohol and milkshakes) to a number that is sent to the bartenders and managers in their apple watches. This worked out nicely even though I could have just ordered my milkshake at the counter. The shroom burger was fantastic, the cheesy fries were average (I prefer crispier/skinnier), and the fried green beans/carrots were interesting but we enjoyed them. First time visiting Texas and just had to try this place after finding it on a food network app. Once you step inside, you are transported into a unique atmosphere that makes you want to explore every inch of the restaurant. I ordered the "Lots-A-Shroom" burger and substituted my meat with Buffalo; delicious! I topped it with their custom Ancho Chipotle Ketchup and had it devoured in minutes.
